Had a great birthday dinner here!
I was in SF for my birthday (I am from NYC) and really loved the tasting menu here. The cheese course was especially memorable, there was some very delicious small batch cheeses that I wish I could find more of!

We had a lovely meal. Did the 9 course Quince menu. Enjoyed each course.

Ambience could have been enhanced if management enforced dress code. Our server Casey was incredible. The dress code is not enforced at this superior restaurant which actually brings down the mood. People were wearing flip flops. t-shirts, torn jeans, halter tops.... Not sure if someone who dressed appropriately would want to pay $1,000 + for dinner then an additional $1,000.00 for a bottle of wine and want it spoiled by sloppily dressed diners.....

Transported ,pampered, delighted!
What a vast treasure awaits those about to dine here. The enthusiasm of the female wine steward and the finest wine pairings on the Quince tasting menu -and the courses were absolutely the finest I've experienced. Wines from all over the world with an unreal Meritage from Napa. Everyone was so gracious and genuinely interested in perfection at each instance was sublime. Congratulations for the whole team!

Staff members seem to have been hired for great people skills. We were much older and never felt patronized or "put up with." It was a marvelous evening. Starting with people, then food and stunning cocktails, and ending with hundreds of small perfect details.

Chef and Sommelier at their best!
We are quite familiar with the so called "star-quisine". Hence, our expctations were high when we decided to go to Quince. And we are not disappointed at all. We decided to go for the Summer Menu, which was a great composition of food including especially items from the rooftop garden. And we also wanted the sommelier to pick wines for each course that are mainly from thr US, special focus on CA. And it was amazong how good she chose the wines and how well they went with the food. Congratiulations, quite an experience!

If you love French Laundry
If you love French Laundry and Gary Danko, then you will supremely enjoy Quince.
Outstanding food quality with fresh foodie imagination and flair. Personable and professional service set with upscale City vibrancy.
One of my all time top fine dining experiences.

This place is "all that and a bag of chips". Great food, service and atmosphere. Very attentive service. A real classy place. We celebrated an anniversary dinner and were presented with a personalized menu with our names and anniversary year on it. Also, a complimentary dessert with a candle. We enjoyed a special 6 course tasting menu with the wine pariing served on Sept 15 only. It was a collaboration between the chef owner and a guest chef. All good. The place will lighten your wallet and the portions are not particularly large but overall it is a most excellent "special occasion" experience. We will now doubt return again sometime.

Overall service, ambiance and quality of food was excellent. However, I prefer having a menu that offers the option to order ala carte. Quince moved to fixed price 5 or 8/9 course tasting menu over the summer. If you have any dietary preferences it makes it more challenging and it also makes it more expensive. Our bill was double what it was last year when we went and it was about same total quantity of food.

Quince-essential for foodies!
We were celebrating a birthday. The 9 course tasting menu was outstanding. It is amazing how such small courses can make you so full! The sommilier made excellent recommendations to pair with our meal. I was also pleased to see Pliny the Elder on tap! I would recommend an earlier reservation than what we had (9pm). It was a well paced, but leisurely meal that took us around 3 hours for the 9 courses. Ouince has really grown up since the early days when it was in a little apothacary on Octavia in Lower Pacific Heights!

Everything about Quince is outstanding, the service and the food. A lot is always said about how wonderful the food is, but I want to give a shout out to the pastry chef - awsome!

Too long of an evening
Dinner took close to three hours and it was too long of a meal. Service was very good except for a 15 minute period when service dropped off. Food was good but not exceptional. Maybe my expectations were too high.
9/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
Suberb dinner, both had 9 course Quince menu, fabulous. Not one dish was off. The only thing that could use a very slight improvement was the expresso, a bit watery

An explosion of your senses
It is one of the best food experiences i have ever had. It is absolutely one of the best restaurants in san francisco. It is a slow food restaurant so prepare for a 3 hour of magnificent food tasting. Juan ramirez was excepcionally kind and very nice to us at all times, he gave us a fast and interesting visit to the restaurant cellar.
9/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
This was our second time to the restaurant . Loved that the staff remembered us from the last time. We each did 1 of the 2 tasting menus. Both were outstanding. Portions looked small but when finished I was completely satisfied.

Better than expected
Hadn't been to Quince since its old days on Octavia Street. Even though I asked for a quiet table and ended up with a fairly exposed one, it was private enough. Service was simply perfect - we ordered the caviar as an additional dish, and it was over the top. Presentation was beautiful and not overly precious, and the meal was flawless from start to finish. Thanks you, Michael Tusk and all your associates for a special evening.
10/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
Superb from start to finish!
From the moment we entered this lovely restaurant through its understated door, we felt embraced by the warm atmosphere and friendly staff. The food was superb (we did the 9 course menu with pairings + the cheese course) and the wine was perfect with every course. We actually went to another supposedly "foodie" restaurant later that week and were disappointed. The whole time we kept comparing it to Quince and it fell far short! We would wholeheartedly recommend Quince to anyone for a wonderful meal and dining experience.

Best Meal in SF
Took my sister there for her Birthday. Fantastic ingredients, outstanding vegetables, imaginative recipes, very pleasant dishes. 9 courses with additional treats, tasty but not stuffing. Turned out to be my favorite meal in the city.

We celebrated our 15th anniversary
We celebrated our 15th anniversary at Quince. We had the 9 course Quince selection. Everything was quite an experience. The presentation was impeccable. The service divine! The caviar was a concert of texture and taste. It was great start to the meal. I was able to substitute the duck for the beef and it was exquisite. The bone marrow in the crispy shell, cracked over the beef was truly the most wonderful thing I've had. I wasn't the biggest fan of the abalone. However, the Seckel Pear was phenomenal. It was gorgeous, light yet full of delicious flavor. YUM! The cheese supplement is wonderful as well. You pick 3 cheeses from a cart and they serve it a rustic fruit bread. The raspberry fig jam that accompanies it is decadent!
10/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
Not worth the money
The food is very good, but it is very overpriced. The 5-course tasting menu costs $118. It should be $75. Some of those courses are ridiculously small.
10/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
I have eaten at many of San Francisco's best over the years an Quince tops the list. There are basically two choices (and an additional vegetarian one)... a five and nine course selection. We opted for the 5 course (autumn) menu in the interest of time as we were on our way to catch a red eye at SFO. The flavors were vibrant like the leaves in season. Fruitti di Mare with a ginger.... green apple.... radish.... then the gnudi with lobster mushrooms, fresh tarragon....
Service was very attentive and very well choreographed.... friendly but not intrusive. The sommelier was knowledgable and very helpful.
A magnificent experience.
We will be back to try the 9 course....

Most amazing meal of my life!!
This has to be by far the best meal experience of my life. From the moment we walked in until we walked out, the food, the service, the ambiance, everything was impeccable. We had the 8-course Quince tasting menu with wine pairings and every single thing they brought out was divine. There was not one course that I didn't absolutely love. The service was attentive without being fussy, the food was gorgeous without seeming pretentious or overdone, and you can tell that they care about food...even the dinner roll and butter made me ooh and aah. I can't say enough about the experience. I think they should be expecting that second Michelin star very very soon. Thank you, Quince!

Great place for a special occasion
My girlfriend and I recently celebrated our anniversary at Quince and enjoyed an incredible meal. 9 course Quince Menu for me, 9 course Garden menu for her. My girlfriend had originally wanted the 5 course Autumn menu but we were told that both of us had to do the same number of courses. I found myself a big fan of many of her plates, in particular the "Shelling Bean Cassoulet" and "Gnudi." From my meal we both enjoyed the "Trofie" and "Phil Paine's Squab." Service was very good and the pace of the meal was very comfortable and relaxed. We wished the cheese selection had been bigger (see Gary Danko), but we both had a great time and highly recommend it, my girlfriend really liked the customized menus wishing us a happy anniversary.

perfect in all most every way
being foodies we eat out a lot. I rate this up there with Le Bernadin and Le GrandVefour among our personal fans.
superb dining experience!

Dinner as performance art!
I had read about Quince years ago, so knew it had an excellent reputation, but found it again when searching for a great place for a business dinner. I brought a business partner there and ordered the Quince menu of the day--a lovely 9-course meal. Don't worry, although that sounds like a lot of food, the portions were tiny and enough--but not too much--food. Each dish was delicious, unique, artfully prepared and displayed, and served in a finely choreographed manner by the pleasant and professional wait staff. I had no idea what to expect when I made the reservation, and have to conclude that the dining experience at Quince was one the most unique I've ever experienced! Great for a meeting, that's true, but also for any special occasion.
10/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
We had the 9 course menu and it was great. They were very gracious for my daughter's 15th birthday. Some of the food was over the heads of my daughter and her friend (bone marrow, sweetbreads, under or uncooked abalone), but it was quite elegant and fun for the girls. The wine pairings were a little weak (not worth the extra $110). I would order wine you like, realizing the very varied menu. The pace was very leisurely, but still the service was attentive.

Quince was amazing! The 9
Quince was amazing! The 9 course prix fixe menu was such a perfect blend of all senses with wonderful surprises. It was just the right portions for so much food, all beautifully timed and presented. We loved every bite and would return whenever we're in San Francisco!

an expensive and special evening
we ordered the 14 course tasting menu with wine pairing. All of the dishes were inventive and fun; the wine pairings were also extremely well-chosen and wines that I ordinarily wouldn't have known anything about. The service was impeccable and choreographed. Our only criticism, echoed by other reviewers, was that the explanations of each item were mumbled, and we had to frequently request repeats, with even the repetitions being hard to understand. It was VERY expensive, with the total bill, with tip, for three of us, of $975. There better be a very special occasion for a trip to Quince! (we thought it was worth it!)

Everything about Quince is quality. The food, the service, the atmosphere are all wonderful. The wine pairings are sublime.

Delightful from beginning to end. The service and the food are perfect. We were celebrating my husband's birthday, and they did it professionally, discreetly and sincerity.

Wow what a treat! The newly awarded 2 Michelin Star restaurant ..Quince! They exceeded our expectations. The staff was one of the best ever. The food was delectable. I can’t wait to go back what a truly divine experience !

Expensive for nothing too
Expensive for nothing too innovative - $230 for dinner without wine, otherwise good.

Fine Dining At Its Finest
Quince is a very special restaurant for a very special, fine dining experience. The restaurant is elegant: warm inviting colors, beautiful flowers, dramatic drapery, well spaced tables, comfortable seating. The food is perfect: beautiful presentations, freshest ingredients, cooked to perfection. The staff is wonderful: warm and welcoming from the very beginning (at least for us, remember, the way you treat others is how they treat you), helpful every step of the way (from explaining the menu, to highlights of various dishes, and selection of wine), flawless in their service (tableware is changed with every course, you are never neglected--they check back with you throughout the meal). It is truly fine dining at its finest!

The food quality and the overall
The food quality and the overall experience were quite excellent. I would recommend this restaurant for a quality evening, definitely deserving of the Michelin stars.

Brilliance through new eyes
I have been to Quince a number of times and love it. Most recently went with a friend who was going for first time. She said it was the best meal she ever had. I concur. It was incredible. Everything was perfect (except one really sweet dessert). The savory dishes were sublime and the caviar was the best I have ever had. I cannot recommend this restaurant more highly. Priceybut the food and experience were so worth it.

Outstanding - Creative, Intimate
From the get-go the service was attentive and impeccable. We had the 9 course Quince Menu (my wife wanted the 5 course Autumn Menu but they said we had to order the same number of courses- should reconsider this), and all the nine courses were absolutely delicious - creative, delicate but flavorful, beautifully served! The wine-pairing was also excellent. The ambience was intimate, quiet, and dignified without being stuffy. Reminded us of outstanding Helene Darroze in Paris. We dined at the French Laundry (one of two Michelin 3 star restaurants in the Bay Area) a few months ago, and we enjoyed Quince more overall! Quince was awarded two Michelin stars this year - we are rooting for 3 for next year!

Wonderful experience and great memory. Especially enjoyed the blind wine pairing - added to the surprise & delight :)

This is the place to dine
This is the place to dine if you want superb cuisine, pampered service, and attention to detail in every way. Is very elegant and pricey and well worth every cent. This is an experience that should at least be enjoyed at least once in your life. This was my second time.
11/8/2013 4:00:00 PM
We fondly remember Quince from their early days in a smaller, more intimate setting. The food was stellar, and being able to order a la carte a great advantage--not only to be able to choose, but also to receive a portion of a dish you could really dig into. It was then a restaurant you could afford to dine at casually. Since they moved to Pacific Avenue, the a la carte option has gradually evolved into elaborate tasting menus. Prepared and served with utmost care and elegance, some dishes are truly delicious. But the 9+portions are tiny, and 4 hours are needed to navigate either of the two large tasting menu choices. We spent $500/couple. Impeccable service, best restaurant of its type. We hope they will resurrect the a la carte.

3 stars for food
I've been a lot of 3 stars restaurants, and the food of quince is as good as they are, the price is even better. I'll recommend to all my friends to visit when they come to San Francisco!

Over the top dining
Succulent bites with beautiful presentation. The execution of each course was outstanding. A truly memorable night.
11/14/2013 4:00:00 PM
Perfect execution in every single dish coming out! Perfect balance of textures, colors, flavors, seasoning and fantastic service. OUTSTANDING. Period.
Truly my new fav in the US.

Amazing but pricey
Some of the best service and food I have ever had. I had to mortgage my house for it though.

Prize fixe is the way to go
We loved our five course autumn menu with the wine pairing. The perfect amount of food. The wine selections were unique yet complementary to the course. Would recommend this restaurant for a special occasion as it is a bit pricey. The staff is very attentive but not overly so or stuffy. Loved the signature gin martini also!

The Whole Package
We had a wonderful all around experience at Quince from beginning to end. Unlike some other "hot" restaurants, it was painless to make reservations. The service was truly outstanding. The cocktails were great -- especially the "made at your table" Quince martini. The food was innovative with bold, fun flavors. The garden menu, in particular, was unusual because it was a full 9-course tasting menu with no meat. The coconut dessert was a bit disappointing -- not my cup of tea, but the "to go" goodies made up for it. Overall, we'll definitely return to Quince. It was the whole package from service to food to ambiance, starting from the time we made the reservation to the time we walked out the door.
11/22/2013 4:00:00 PM
The service and food reminded me of the French Laundry. The food was decadent and delicious and the service was top notch. We were celebrating our 7th anniversary and they treated us so kindly. The menu's had our names printed and the date and all the servers wished us congratulations. This is NOT a restaurant for young kids. It is a place you go to enjoy the food experience and have great conversation with who you are with. Thank you all at Quince!!!
11/25/2013 4:00:00 PM
Great with 1 star better with 2
Quince service, food and ambience is impeccable! My wife is going through a gluten free phase and they were so accommodating! Service was attentions, timely but non pretensions and friendly! One of my preferred restaurants in SanFran!

Delicious, Elegant Evening
From the moment one arrives at Quince the highest quality service commences. The reception is warm and engaging. The servers are immediately present, quiet, knowledgeable about every detail of the dining and beverage service, and they are fully, discreetly present to make your time at Quince exceptionally pleasing. The Quince Martini was five-stars. For the unhurried balance of the evening very item delivered from the kitchen was elegantly, artfully presented. Every item in the five course menu was carefully described as it was presented and every item was beyond 'delicious.' The cheese server was exceptionally knowledgeable and delightful. The wine list is comprehensive and the sommelier was well informed. Ultimate hospitality.

VERY sophisticated ambiance. Exceptional tasting menu. Wonderful wines. And superb service. What's not to like?

Best place for special occasions
My wife and I decided to celebrate our 25th Anniversary at Quince and - despite being quite discerning foodies - we were elated by the quality of the food, its presentation and the impeccable service. Can most definitely recommend it for a special occasion!
