Tight, But Always Reliable
dell'anima always has terrific food and great service. I always love the grilled octopus to start and the tagliatelle bolognese for my entree. The service is kind and dependable, and they're are always great at pairing their wines with my meals. It always feels a little tight in there (it's hard to sit as a threesome), and it can get a little warm and smoky given the open set-up of the kitchen, but the overall experience is always wonderful.

A wonderful experience
I loved everything about Dell'Anima. Excellent food and service, at a great price. I will be back soon!

I've been here a few times
I've been here a few times on dates and friend dates. It's cozy, dim, tables are really close together, but the overall noise level drowns out specific conversations, lending an element of privacy and intimacy. Great seasonal menu with plenty of options. The service is always incredibly friendly without being patronizing or annoying. I loved the wine our server recommended, she was cool.

A great west village find!
Love this place ! The food is really fantastic ! I have eaten here on 5 occasions and have never been disappointed. Each dish is a masterpiece in it's own right!

was a little skeptical when
was a little skeptical when first walking in to find it so tiny and tables tightly packed, but the incredible service, food and wine more than made up for any initial hesitation. can't wait to come back for the incredible pastas. wanted to try everything on the menu so will have to return soon. our waitress was knowledgable and helpful with the wine selection, and service was paced just right--didn't feel rushed, but no lengthy waits between courses.

Lovely food and cosy atmosphere
The nicest Italian food in a small and cosy restaurant. Felt like a local i New York. Loved the bruschette.

Fabulous pastas. Delicious
Fabulous pastas. Delicious fish in parchment. Filled to the rafters with happy diners, this tight space with it's open kitchen is lots of fun.

Great mother's day brunch
Came here for mother's day. Our table was tight with three people at a two person table, but the service was great and the food was delicious. Love their dinner as well!

Would go back any day
I am in love with this restaurant. For appetizers, we started off with the charred octopus. Then we moved our way into two pasta dishes (the tagliatelle bolognese and cacio pepe). For the main, we shared the branzino, and closed the meal with a chocolate gianduja crostata as dessert. Everything was delicious, but the tagliatelle bolognese was extraordinary. If I had a criticism (and not that I do) but if I had to give one, it would be that this dish was too small. It was so delicious I wanted more! I could eat 3 of those things and still crave for more. It was that good.

We had a very nice meal here!
We had a very nice meal here! It was a bit smoky inside, but the food was delicious.

fine italian food
We really enjoyed this restaurant, which had been recommended by a NYC friend.
Diner was delicious, original and surprising. the wine list is great and the possibility of having great wines per glass was also highly appreciated.
Will go back next time in NYC.

excellent italian food
The food was AMAZING, the server was very nice but scarcely available, the bussers were wonderful ALWAYS on it. My guest is still raving about the food, he loved it and it was a special occasion and they took note and had a candle in the dessert. Can't stress enough how wonderful the food tasted! Excellent Italian and super affordable.

Great start to our NYC trip!
It was our 1st night in NYC and we arrived for a late dinner (8:30 reservation) and had to wait about 15 - 20 minutes for our table. The staff apologized more than once for the delay and offered a complimentary beverage for our inconvenience. We considered leaving, but it smelled so good, we decided to stay and were glad we did. Everything we ordered was absolutely divine. We started with bruschetta appetizers (avocado & roasted red pepper) and arugula salad. We also ordered 4 different pasta plates and they were all tasty but spicy! I especially enjoyed the carbonara. We shared dessert (rum cake w/ sea salt gelato) which was a wonderful ending to our delicious meal. Already recommended this to a foodie friend who visits NYC often!

This restaurant is consistently superb in the quality of its dishes and the service of its staff. I would rank it among the top five best restaurants in the city. Get the risotto. It changed my life. OMG. It's intimate if you sit at a table, and a truly enthralling experience if you sit at the chef's table.

Absolutely incredible, every dish was spot on. Had three bruschette spreads (enjoyed the Lily Confit very much), the Charred Octopus was rich, acidic, creamy perfection. The Tagliatelle Bolognese was from another planet; an explosion of flavors, perfectly cooked pasta and just balanced perfectly. Had an incredible Branzino and then finished with the Espresso-rum Almond Cake (deceptively simple – the sea salt gelato makes it). Not a single miss on the menu, our waiter was incredibly attentive and helpful – overall a fantastic dinner and date night.

Some of the best food I've had... Charred octopus and charred peach apps were stunning. One doesn't usually think of ordering chicken in a restaurant but this one s succulent and beautifully crisp and spicy. The pork chop was juicy and perfectly cooked. The only negative was the noise level. Definitely worth a second, third... trip.

fantastic as usual
This restaurant never disappoints! It is a quaint neighborhood spot with amazing food. A great date spot or place to catch up with a friend. I love sitting at the bar which is what I usually do, however on Friday we had a table which was great because the bar was full. Fantastic wine, amazing Octopus appetizer. The Almond Cake is truly unbelievable and not to be missed!

quintessential west village spot
Excellent food, friendly service, attentive waiters, great feeling inside. Though the view is somewhat lackluster outside, the outdoor seating allows a more intimate calm setting than the indoors which can build to a bit of a noise with the excitement of everyone inside.

Best food in the area.
Laid back + the best food in the area. I love this restaurant.
8/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
Italian bistro style gem in the Village. Small place, tightly packed tables and quite loud but offers excellent quality food and very good service. Easy access from the subway making it a quick trip from uptown. Definitely will return again.

We really enjoyed our dinner
We really enjoyed our dinner at dell'anima! Our server recommended the octopus and chicken diavolo, which were both spectacular.
We liked the casual atmosphere. At 40, we were probably the oldest people in the place but that was ok. The only drawback was that it was so noisy (both voices and loud music) that it was hard to hear!

Great Italian Food
We were looking for a place with homemade pasta and great italian food. We found it at Dell Anima. It is a nice quite place in the Greenwich Village district that makes their own pasta daily. My pasta tasted great and was prepared perfectly. I would highly recommend this if you are in NYC.

Facilitated a terrific evening!
Went here for my lady's birthday. We sat at the Chef's table, in front of their open kitchen and were about 4 feet from the chefs. They communicated with very little conversation in a highly effective manner. They were methodical and precise. They have this ball cap tradition that the chef's rock hats. Different. There was even hip-hop playing. Ice Cube's "Today Was A Good Day" even came on!! And the night at this place was even better! The service was attentive and well-informed. The waiter even did a little extra to celebrate the ocassion.

Food was perfect
We went for brunch on sunday, delightful ambiance, excellent food and good service. Drinks were strong, pastas were homemade and perfect sauce, egg dishes were executed beautifully. Would definitely go for dinner as well

Great neighborhood gem
The food at Dell'Anima never dissapoints. Great menu, wine list and cocktails.
10/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
I've been to both L'Artusi
I've been to both L'Artusi and L'Apicio numerous times and loved them both but this was the 1st time at Dell'Anima and it won't be the last. Food-bruschetta, pasta, Branzino- was delicious. Great service-bread was re-filled for bruschetta without asking and water glasses were always filled. Waitress knew the menu well and kitchen adjusted for dietary restrictions. Great energy in the restaurant but at the same time it has a warm, neighborhood feeling.

Bursting with flavors
My friend and I were visiting NYC and dell 'anima was recommended by a friend... what a gem! The grilled octopus appetizer had the most delicious mixture of flavors. Don't pass up the duck breast. The menu is selective ....but what a selection... we wanted to order the entire menu. The pistachio gelato was a perfect ending to a delicious meal. Great wines!!! We had the cozy table in the corner by the kitchen which was perfect. We loved it all!

One of the best Italian restaurants
One of the best Italian restaurants in NYC. If you can, sit at the Chef's Table- you will enjoy the experience.

Its a small and intimate west
Its a small and intimate west village gem, best experienced as a table for two or at the chef's station, where hipster chef's whip up culinary excitement. Its italian food, but not traditional italian as most patrons recognize it. While I thought the bruschetta dishes were underwhelming, the octopus appetizer is quite good. Also reccomended is the risotto, especially if you like chorizo. The bone marrow is also delicious.

Love it every time
My mom visits me all the time from California and every time she's here, we make it a plan to go here. It's definitely one of my favorites, it's small and not so crazy. The food is delicious, they change menu seasonally and I love that the chefs are making your food out in the open kitchen. It's loud and fun and you can definitely engage in conversations with the chefs about all the yummy ingredients. Everyone is super knowledgable about the dishes and can describe them to a tea. Nicely done, dell' anima. (Also try their sister restaurant L'Artusi- incredible!)
11/8/2013 4:00:00 PM
Solid NYC dining experience
Excellent food. Good service. Only suggestion would be to be friendlier about the wine list. It's all Italian and not easy to navigate.
11/14/2013 4:00:00 PM
This restaurant was great.
This restaurant was great. We had delicious wine and all the food was so well prepared. The dessert was the best thing I have ever had. It was a pumping crostada that was a more delicious version of pumpkin pie. I would recommending this to any one. It is a small restaurant and a bit cramped but is very neighborhood-y and has a good vibe.
11/19/2013 4:00:00 PM
Small but charming restaurant. The food and service were very good.I had the sweetbread which is original from my country and even though it was a small dish , it was excellent . I really like the crowd, people in their 40s, relax. It opens late at night , a must for us.
I recommend this restaurant and I will definitely be back

reliable gem, solid brunch
dell'anima is a favorite of mine for casual, yet refined italian food in the west village. picked this for brunch, to catch up with a friend and it exceeded expectations for simple, delicious brunch fare. warm service and comfortable atmosphere set this over the top. highly recommended.

Amazing restaurant n NYC!
Chic setting with incredible food at a very reasonable price! One of our favorites in NYC. Salted ricotta bruschetta, bolognese pasta, and the sautéed Brussels sprouts are not to be missed. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Excellent Italian in W. Village
Open kitchen lets you see that the chef takes great pains to be excellent. Food is authentic Italian and superb from beginning to end.

We will be back.
We have been to this restaurant twice now. The food is delicious. The bruschetta was a great appetizer to start. They have four different types and you can choose 3 at a time. The restaurant is small but lively. It is loud but you can still talk to your dinner companions. We had great service and the menu is reasonably priced.
