Interesting and decent tapas
Interesting and decent tapas menu - plenty of choices and nice ambience. Service was a little erratic and confusing. And we were there early so not a full restaurant. Food was good, fresh and presented well. Only price complaint was $26 for a relatively small pitcher of Sangria. Definitely would recommend Bodega if you are looking for a smal plates pre-theater kind of place that is kinda less than the ordinary.

A wonderful evening! My husband
A wonderful evening! My husband and I really loved our experience at Bodega. Our waiter recommended a great wine that was moderately priced. The portions were generous for 2 people to share. All the food was tasty and well seasoned but the standouts were the beef short ribs in piquillo peppers, the monkfish with the chickpea puree, and the grilled cuttlefish. For a veggie we had the sauteed spinach with pine nuts that was perfectly cooked. Our daughter had the chicken croquettes and there are other good choices for the kids. Thankfully the music wasn't too loud and the atmosphere was lively.

delicious and great service
I was waiting on my friend for a while (georgetown traffic) and the service was great. My waitress was very attentive to me even though the rest of my party wasnt there. The tapas came out very fast after we ordered and the cava sangria was very good.
I was quite happy with our meal and plan to return.

Great Food, Great Ambiance
I visited Madrid in 2011 and Bodega's food, decor, and serving dishes are authentic. However, the service is just ok - especially when it's busy. The sangria leaves a lot to be desired. But, I would still recommend this restaurant.

A pleaant surprise to find
A pleaant surprise to find a real Spanish restaurant in Georgetown, excellent paellas and a wide range of genuine tapas. We are regular visitors to Spain from the UK and really enjoyed our meal and the experience. We will definitely return either for a meal or to drop in for a drink and tapas in the early evening, just like real Spain.

5 of us took an 8 pm reservation and sat outside; great little wind-protected outdoor patio between the buildings. Awesome menu; ordered over a dozen items through the night and not a one was ordinary. Cannot miss with this restaurant from bacon wrapped dates to paella.

Food was delicious, authentic
Food was delicious, authentic Spanish cuisine- fantastic paella and sangria. Service was wonderful- great experience. Also a very nice atmosphere for dates.

I don't know why I did not try this place before. The food is really good! The night we went the wait staff was really inattentive and absent for the most part. Other than that, I would go back again for the food.

Great food. A little cramped
Great food. A little cramped and noisy. Service was perfect and they were able to accomodate us with a stroller on a Friday night. Would definetly go back.

Great food, good staff!
Staff was very accommodating regarding our change of plan- the appointment was shorter than expected, so instead of getting there at 6:30 we were there an hour earlier.
Waiter was very nice, but he could have suggested things to us or given us an idea of how to order (meaning suggesting a number of dishes for our party of 6-7,etc.). We had two pitchers of the (very good) sangria among us and it was about a glass and a half per person, and 5-6 dishes were more than enough. We had calamari, mushroom risotto, beet salad, salmon with olive tapenade, and two of the shrimp, with the house ice cream with figs and port for dessert. Delicious and worth a revisit!

I really appreciated Bodega honoring my reservation a half hour ahead of time, as I had written the time down wrong. The food came quickly and was delicious, accompanied by some white sangria. I recommend the seafood stew to split with a friend before digging into some tapas- we chose the spinach with pine nuts, raisins, and apples, the fried balls of chicken, and the seared tuna. My friend and I were happily stuffed. Too bad we didn't get around to the dessert menu!

Love the Tapas
Everything @ Bodega is absolutely delish! the cocktails, the wine list, the tapas, the Paella's, the desserts, the coffee...everything is great. The staff is awesome very attentive the ambience is very welcoming...we love it...we just need any excuse to go! family in town, meeting wth friends, date night, just because we deserve it ,it doesn't matter the 45 minute drive from Baltimore is all worth it!

Favorite spot doesn't disappoint
This is one of our favorite Georgetown restaurants. We take our kids there -- they love good food, too -- and there's something for everyone. The cava sangria is wonderful. The braised short ribs in peppers has gotten smaller over time, but still just a tasty. Try to sit in different rooms -- the vibe outside, downstairs, and upstairs are all different. Definitely a fun place.

Fun Tapas in Georgetown
Took our three kids there on a Friday night. Cava Sangria was a nice twist. All of the tapas we ordered arrived quickly and were very tasty. There was a cute back patio but it was raining so they weren't using it, but it looked like a fun place to sit. The service was efficient and there was a nice vibe to the place.

Good food and good service
We stuck with a few orders of tapas, and were not disappointed. The Pan con Tomate y Jamón Serrano, in particular, was outstanding.
Many wines served by the glass, which was appreciated. Service was friendly and rapid without being intrusive.
6/8/2013 12:00:00 AM
We love Bodega! Food is excellent as well as service. This is a great place to go with friends, you can order different tapas and share them. It gets busy so it is better if you make a reservation. It is a nice place but a little nois but you will have a good time here.
6/12/2013 4:00:00 PM
Food was very good. Very chill and good spot for dinner.
6/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
Went to Bodega with my wife and two girls (11 and 9). We found the restaurant inviting, they were kid friendly but my girls were well behaved that day and they did eat. Food was very good. My wife and I have been to a number of good Tapas restaurants in Chicago and San Francisco and this rates right up there. Prices were Georgetown/DC but value was good. Waiters were good, got us a dish of yellow rice for one of our girls that was not listed on the menu and put up with a few funny faces when the girls were trying certain dishes. I would go back for sure when I am in DC next.

Tapas & Sangria
Right in the heart of Georgetown, wide variety of menu choices, everything we had was great. Sangria was good, not unique but traditional. We enjoyed!
6/21/2013 4:00:00 PM
We eat on the outside patio on a beautiful evening an the ambiance and setting was just perfect. Highly recommend the sangria, by far the best we ever had! The Paella was delicious. The server was excellent, attentive courteous and efficient. We will definitively go back.
6/21/2013 4:00:00 PM
My girlfriend and I had been talking about eating paella. My family would always prepare it at home so I was a little nervous since I had never tried Paella outside of my mother's kitchen. I cannot express how amazing the food was. I was worried my gf wouldn't enjoy the flavors and spices but La Bodega delivered. She loved it and we cannot wait to return to try the seafood version. We customized a plate by adding oysters to the chicken and chorizo paella. The staff was super friendly, so happened that we visited on the night Spain vs Italy soccer match was playing and it just added to our experience. I would suggest you arrive early if you want to enjoy the happy hour at the front bar. Otherwise this is a great pick.
6/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
This is the second time at this restaurant and both times the food was excellent. The service was very good as well. The only downside was the cigar smell that comes in rfrom the outside when the back door is opened. If you don't like the smell of cigars sit in the front of the restaurant.
6/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
A very nice casual place
We went there for the first time with another couple and had a good time. The seafood paella was yummy! Our small plates were also delicious. I always like the bacon wrapped dates, the sautéed spinach, and Manchego plate. The service was also very good. We liked that there was both a front and back bar. All in all, it was a very nice place to meet for a casual dinner.

Friday Night Tapas
Good food, fast service and great prices! I will definitely be back and will sure tell all my foodie friends.

Great food but dark and loud
The service and food are superb. But at night they keep the lights very dim so it's too dark and it's quite loud.
8/3/2013 12:00:00 AM
Just as good if not better than Jaleo. The standout was the Pan con Tomate y Jamón Serrano. I'm not sure if it really was authentic Spanish Jamón, but it sure was good. Chorizo was a much more flavorful endeavor than most places and the Espinacas a la Catalana with raisins and apples was fresh. The only disappointment was the Pimientos del Piquillo a la Plancha. I think the peppers were out of a jar. They were o.k. with the bread but I've had better. Like many have said the Dátiles con Tocino were terrific! I could eat those all day. We didn't have a great deal of time to eat many of the protein entrees. I wish we had. The calamari was o.k. but I would like to try the Paellas! An amazing place to have drinks or something light late night.

Had a special occasion dinner
I chose Bodega for a special occasion dinner with my friends because I've been there several times and we enjoyed the food and service all the time. Nothing against the food this time: paellas were delish, appetizers were just enough to start the night and sangria was nice. Everything was great, but the service sucked! We didn't ask for too much attention because we were too busy engaging with each other, but we've seen our server literally 3 times that night!!! First we ordered through another server who approached our table first time in 20 mins after we set down (we even had to bother hostess standing next to us to find out if we even have one). Eventually a few things we ordered were missing. The server never apologized. Service was bad

Beat Tapas in DC
I've been to Bodega 3 times now and think that hands down they have the best tapas in DC. We waited for our table at the downstairs bar and the bartender was a mess but she told us it was only her second night. I ordered an old fashioned and was handed a vodka drink with fruit in it. I felt bad though bc I've been in her shoes before so I drank it anyway.
The meal itself was amazing as always. The waiter brought me an great glass of wine based on what I told him I liked and what we were ordering. The weather was beautiful and we sat in their backyard patio which is an absolute must.
I highly recommend Bodega to anyone looking for authentic tapas in the District!

Great Tapas restaurant with true Spanish flair.
Prompt delivery of food. Great presentation !
Serving spoons would be a great addition for sharing dishes!

Great for groups
As with all Tapas restaurants, it is great to have a group where everyone can order their favorite and share with the others in the party. I was travelling alone and limited my selections to 2 items since I had a long drive ahead of me. The portions were a good size and tasty. I enjoyed the food and a glass of wine and will definitely have this on my list of favorites. The food is different than the fare found in the usual restaurants so it is a great place to pursue new adventures.

Great food, atmosphere and service. Edgy energetic decor. . .small charming court yard as well. Tapas are prepared well. Quality ingredients. Bar scene is good. Also, a perfect place for a date.

Food was fantastic. Great recommendations from Rafael on our selections. reasonable prices. 4 tapas, appetizer and wine for two was just over $85.
9/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
I am married to a Spaniard from Madrid. I have had authentic tapas from the family (mom, aunt, etc) and this restaurant is almost a good as my mother-in-laws cooking, without all the emotional overhead! The happy hour roja sangria was refreshing. I love all the plates we ordered and I am looking forward to returning so I can try them all.
10/3/2013 12:00:00 AM
Tapas for 2
First time dining at this restaurant, loced the atmoshpere and the food was tasty. My girlfriend and I love spanish tapas style and this place fit the bill. Very enjoyable.

Many Delicious Options
The food was great. We had a reservation, and I was glad because it was really busy. We were seated right away. The waiters were fairly attentive, although we had to flag them down once or twice later in the meal. Everything we tried was delicious-seared tuna, grilled peppers, and sausage. Our favorite by far was the bacon-wrapped dates-delicious! I'm not sure it would be a good restaurant for groups or small kids (it was fairly loud and crowded) but we had a great experience.

Flavorful Food and Wine
Bodega offers a vibrant restaurant experience. Engaging decor, outstanding Spanish tapas, and full-bodied Spanish white wine. Come back often--the shrimp sautéed in garlic, piri-piri pepper & olive oil (Gambas al Ajillo), beet salad with goat cheese and walnuts (Ensaladilla Remolacha con Queso de Cabra), and fried potatoes and spicy all-i-oli (Patatas Bravas) are phenomenal.

Authentic Spanish Bodega and Tapas
My husband is from Roses, Spain -1 hour north of Barcelona and this place is the closest place I have ever been where the food is authentic!! Service was AMAZING! Wine, food and co workers made for a great night! Only thing missing was the real Spaniard at home..,In Texas.! ThanksAgain! I will be back

Trendy Atmosphere--Exciting Food
Everything from the food to the atmosphere is exciting at Bodega. The sultry red and black walls and scarlet chandeliers set the mood for a night out with friends or a romantic meal for two. The sangria alone would keep you coming back--both the red and the cava are delicious. If you're a fan of meat, than the fried chicken croquettes and steak a la plancha are all worth a try, while the fried potatoes and bacon wrapped dates are great options as well. The food comes out quickly too, so it is nice to have the option to set your own pace and order more dishes as the meal progresses. Overall, Bodega is a great choice for a wide range of diners looking for a delicious meal for a reasonable price in the heart of Georgetown.

Good choice for tapas in Georgetown
Most of our 12 choices (3 people) were quiet good; we'll prepared and flavorful. They have a nice selection of Spanish wines both by the glass and the bottle with a fair number of decent bottles <$50. The noise level is rather energetic so expect to raise your voice for conversation.
11/6/2013 4:00:00 PM
Bodega is one of a few good tapas restaurants in DC that I rotate between, and I've been here 4-5 times. The ambiance is cozy but nice and the food is good. I'm also a sangria fan and theirs doesn't disappoint. Also I find the prices to be relatively reasonable. We usually spend 80-90 (for 2 people) including a couple drinks, tax, and tip.

Vibrant Ambiance & Delicias Tapas
Bodega is great for small to medium sized groups. The food and sangria are absolutely delicious and will not disappoint sophisticated palettes. We had a group of ten - both families of 5. Even though there is not a children's menu, our kids loved the cool atmosphere and managed to find food they would eat (steak and meatballs). The only downside is that the service was slow. This was a great experience and we would go back. We especially love Bodega when out of town friends are visiting DC.

Large variety, good portions.
Large variety, good portions. Went there for the squid ink calamari risotto. Was not disappointed. Everything was delicious.

I came on a date from a recommendation from a co-worker and I'm SO glad i listened! Food was fantastic - the short rib stuffed piquillo peppers were out of this world. Juicy, tender, perfectly seasoned and the pepper cut just the right amount into the richness of the meat.
