I've been meaning to try this
I've been meaning to try this restaurant for years. The food was good and the service was friendly and helpful. My husband's fries were soggy and my pouched egg was a little rubbery. But I would definitely return. It's a cozy atmosphere with reasonable prices.

Food here is consistently
Food here is consistently good, at whatever meal. Had an excellent brunch this time. Perfectly cooked eggs benedict with a side of lightly dressed market greens. Very good bloody marys. Wait staff is attentive without being intrusive.

A delightful surprise
Comfortable, attractive, neighborhood bistro. Great burger and fries and great hard cider on draft ( a special treat). Good prices. Quiet enough to have a real conversation. We'll go again!

A great neighborhood spot,
A great neighborhood spot, several hidden gems on the wine list, and consistently great food! An excellent prix fixe menu as well as daily specials. Outdoor seating for the warm afternoons and evenings.

Parisienne ambience on Amsterdam
Now dined here twice, once for dinner and once for brunch. Light, layout, and decor very much like what you might see in Paris off the well-worn tourist paths. Food was all well-prepared, well-presented, and well-timed. Lobster Bisque was simple but delicious, the lamb entree was fantastic, but not sure if it's regularly on the menu (had it on Easter Sunday). Profiteroles are a great dessert choice because... well, they're profiteroles! Staff is generally young, energetic and well-informed. Wines selections by-the-glass were limited but good. There are 2 or 3 other bistro-style restaurants in the general area (upper west side/ Columbia/ Cathedral St. John) but I would say this is best of them - particularly food quality.

My favorite neighborhood spot.
My favorite neighborhood spot. Their beet ravioli dish is just delicious.

This was the perfect spot for a quiet lunch on a beautiful summer day. There is foot traffic, but not enough to be obtrusive. Our waitperson was attentive, but not smothering. Our omelets were delicious, but not overly trendy. We didn't have wine this time, but I know from previous experience that the wine list is impressive and that the wines are affordable. I have always enjoyed dining at this restaurant.

What a surprise!
Traveled by subway to this restaurant not knowing what we'd find -- a definite neighborhood gem! Great service, food was marvelous & ambiance was nice! Took a stroll through campus of Columbia after dinner -- perfect evening with our teenagers (all dressed up)! This one did not disappoint! Could go back in winter & sit next to fireplace -- romantic!

The first thing that attracted
The first thing that attracted me to this restaurant is that it had a wonderful kids menu. It is often very hard to find an excellent restaurant with tasty selections for adults that have a great kids menu. My daughter selected the salmon and enjoyed every last bite. I had the spinach pasta with a sausage ragu that was cooked perfectly. For dessert we had pineapple upside down cake which had vanilla gelato. The vanilla gelato was the best part of the dessert as the cake was a little dry.

We went to Bistro 10-18 for my birthday on July 4th. The atmosphere was lovely, clean, and inviting. We heard some terrific and unique jazz, that truly made it for us. Although our food order got mixed up, the food was really good. I would recommend to others and return there myself.

Cioppino special was beyond fabulous!! Looking forward to soft shell crabs in a few weeks.

Delicious food and drinks.
Delicious food and drinks. We had a lovely time overall. The seafood fettuccine was rich and tasteful. The cocktails were refreshing as well.

bistro ten 18
this was my second visit to this illustrious morning side heights spot. the area is very calm, quiet and riddled with trees (gret for those dining outside). the menu is awesome; I had the prefixe brunch with my date and those unlimited mimosas were the perfect compliment to my lemon ricotta pancakes. if you've put this place on your hit-list and have yet to venture out, I say get on it asap.
7/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
This was my first time at the restaurant: the service was friendly and the food very good. I had a great hamburger and memorable french fries. The prices were very reasonable. I certainly recommend it for lunch--I haven't had dinner there yet.

We had the Cioppino special several weeks ago. It was exceptionally good. This week we had the beer battered soft shell crabs, which were outstanding. My friend and I split a second portion. Regular menu items are always tasty too, but we are summer seafood lovers. Good selection of wines both by the glass and by the bottle. We had a lovely French rose', which was perfect with the crabs.

Bistro Ten 18 SHINES on the UWS
Located at Amsterdam Avenue and 110th Street, this restuarqant is a treat. The food is perpared by a telented chef. We had scallops and a wedge salad to start which were bothterrific. The scallops cooked to perfection, the wedge generous with heirloom tomatoes, bacon and blue cheese dressing. would be enough for two. The entree we each chose was the hanger steak, again, cooked perfectly to our specifications and very very tasty wserved with lovely fingerling potatoes and stringbeans cooked together.P.S. the sourdough bread in the bread basket was divine.

My third time there. Always great food and service.

Bistro Ten 18
Very enjoyable meal- good food, nice bistro ambiance, good service
9/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
The service was excellent. Very nice range on the menu from charcuterie to pastas to full entrees. Pretty but small inside, very pleasant streetside outdoor cafe. Beet ravioli was excellent. Striped bass very well prepared. We were using a discount voucher to check out our old neighborhood and it was handled effortlessly and graciously. would definitely return.

So Much Better!
I don't know what has changed at Bistro Ten 18, but we've noticed the past two times we ate there that the food is so much better than it used to be. I had a terrific salmon this past time. And we've enjoyed the wine, though I'm not educated enough to tell you whether the wine list is notable. I just know it's better than the usual neighborhood offerings.
It is a good place for groups, so we've learned it's best to make a reservation, just to be sure you won't arrive and find a party has taken over both the back and front rooms.

A find across from the cathedral
This place, just in the shadows of St. John the Divine is a lovely little spot, quiet, and with very attentive and friendly servers. Our opening sea scallops were spot on; the potato rosti might have gotten slightly overcrisped, but the texture contrasts were certainly fun. my dining partner's salmon with succotash was a success, and my Spinach pasta with pork sausage ragout stuffed with ricotta gave me the sense of what the very best beef stroganoff could hope to attain. Or lasagna, for that matter. Skip them both, come here, and get this instead. We were not inspired to get desserts this time around, but the wine selection was quite nice, even for someone on a budget.

Bistro Ten 18
Terrific Bistro in a fabulous neighborhood. Serves locally grown and prepared foods in generous portions. Tables are a bit too close for romantic dining, but the food and service call for a 4 star rating. Try the crispy skin sea bass and the mussels in a garlicky broth. Get a window table and watch the Columbia students go by. After dinner ,walk the historic and colorful Amsterdam Ave. to complete a great evening.

Brunch in the window Cathedral view
The specials were appropriately varied and the larger lunch menu was available Both of our choices happened to include poached eggs which were perfectly cooked. The mimosas were part of the priix fixe and we both had two!
9/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
I was really impressed. The food was perfect, the portion were huge (I got dinner out of it the next night), the staff was friendly and helpful but not hovering. The range of options was also impressive - it really is a place you can take virtually anyone. Very reasonably priced, too - $117 for dinner for 2, including one appetizer, two entrees, dessert and a bottle of wine. Overall I highly recommend it and definitely will be back.

Have only been to Bistro Ten
Have only been to Bistro Ten 18 for lunch several times. Very pleasant experiences -- comfortable, attentive staff, good if limited selection of well-prepared food. On most recent visit omelet special was cooked perfectly; one of my guests enjoyed a generous portion of mussels. Burger and beer lunch special is great value. Nice view of St John the Divine and its grounds, especially from outside tables.
10/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
My husband and I shared very fresh calamari as a starter. I had the seafood pasta with chorizo sauce and my husband had the spinach pasta with pork ragout. Both were delicious. We were too full for dessert, but it looked great.
10/10/2013 5:00:00 PM
I really enjoyed time spent at this place, very interesting and romantic place, with a good vibe. Great for dates/relaxed dinners in the neighborhood. Located at the cute corner of 110th street and amsterdam ave. Really enjoyed attentive service as well.

A Great Option on the UWS
We ordered a table full of small plates and one entree (all for sharing) and asked to have things brought as they were ready from the kitchen.Food was very tasty - we had a charcuterie plate with sausage and cheeses, the asparagus, the brussel sprouts with bacon, the onion rings, the fries, the calamari and the salmon dish. All was yum - including the delicious bread on the table served with garlic butter. If I had one bone to pick, I would say the portions were a little small. But, with that being said, the five of us were full! Wine list reasonable and and the cocktails were very well made - the manhattan afficianado loved his perfect manhattan! The service was very good - friendly, efficient and professional.

I am a member of St Wilfrid Club, which meets at Bistro 1018 several times a year. Although I have not been to a recent meeting of the club, everyone who has raves about Bistro 1018. I made a reservation for lunch for a visiting former Board member, and we were pleasantly surprised by the experience.

Bistro Ten 18 - a great place
Good food and drinks. Service is great. Both the bar area and dining room are comfortable.

Great little place for dinner
Great pre-theater dinner. We had a limited amount of time and the waiter made sure we were able to keep to our schedule. The food was very good and so was the presentation. We had the traditional meals (appetizer, entrée and dessert.
We will go back. I'd like to try their small plates - they look quite interesting.
Bonus - it was Saturday night and I quickly found a parking spot.
