I have now eaten at this restaurant
I have now eaten at this restaurant 3 times. I have not been disappointed. Its a great place to go when in the neighborhood. Conversation is easy. Great food!

A great place for pre-theatre dinin
A nice walk from the Kennedy Center brought me to this neighborhood gem. The small dining room was very inviting. The wine offerings were different, allowing me to try something new - I was not disappointed! A lovely Riesling accompanied my dinner of steak+frites. The Pre-Theatre menu included a dessert choice, and i chose the fried apple beignet with praline ice cream and VA Maple Syrup - "Elf" was right, syrup is good on everything! The service was very attentive throughout. I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience here, and will definitely return.

Well executed boutique restaurant
Food, service and drinks are all very good. Great spot for pre theater.

Great for Pre-Theater Dining
I go to the Kennedy Center a fair amount and my friends and I are always looking for good restaurants nearby. DISH+Drinks was perfect. It has a reasonably priced fixed menu for pre-theater dining, the service was quick and it is within walking distance to the Kennedy Center if you choose. It is a smaller restaurant and got crowded (and kinda loud) about half way through our meal. I would recommend early reservations to allow for a relaxing and semi-quiet meal. Otherwise great place -- we will definitely go there again!

Quiet, under-appreciated place
We came on a week night for a dinner in Foggy Bottom. At first we missed the entrance, it's part of a hotel lobby. The restaurant was quiet, but the service was excellent and the food was amazing. Considering the DC market, the food is underpriced and the quality is excellent. We'd definitely recommend coming in for a tasty meal.

2 dudes one restaurant
We went to a pre-show dinner and the food was awesome. The only thing more impressive was that it was just 2 dudes and nobody else other than a food runner helping. They waited, bussed and bar tended efficiently. Its a small place so get a reservation. Good spot.

Outstanding in every way.
Outstanding in every way. We have dined their on several occasions and have never failed to be impressed with both the food and service. Their Martinis using Russian Standard vodka are exceptional.
Great place for pre-theater dining for Kennedy Center events.

I've been here twice before shows at the Kennedy Center. The food is delicious. They use fresh ingredients and it is well prepared. Everyone in our group was satisfied and happy. It is only a short walk to the Kennedy Center. I would return and would highly recommend this restaurant.

Pre- Show gem
Dined at Dish+Drinks before going to the Kennedy Center with a group on 4. WE did the $35 deal for 1 app, 1 entree & 1 dessert- each of us enjoyed all 3. Loved that we were also able to park there for $10 for both dinner and the show and it was a short walk as well. Great service too!
7/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
We chose this restaurant due to its location to the Kennedy center and its tasty looking menu. The food was fabulous and beautifully presented. The wine was delicious. Service was perfect...thanks to Tim (I think) and the staff. The quick walk to the Kennedy Center got us to the show with time to spare. i would highly recommend Dish to anyone looking for great food and service. Not too pricey either.
7/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
What a hidden gem! The wait staff and wine steward are worth the price alone. Custom attention to ever need makes me want to return again.

While the food was nothing
While the food was nothing to write home about, the service was very on point. Both the bartender and our server treated us very well. We will be back because of them.

Great service and the tagliatelle
Great service and the tagliatelle with mussels and shrimp is always delicious

Best Kept Secret
This is a "grown-up" and contemporary but quiet little retreat, suitable for an intimate rendevous for drinks and something light to eat. I struggle to find quiet, serene places to meet with friends after work, where we can unplug, have a drink and dinner, while we talk quietly. Wait staff operated flawlessly. The menu was diverse and food was remarkably delicious. Our evening was by far one of the most enjoyable we've had in a couple years in the area..truly a gem.

A new food friend..
What a wonderful surprise to meet this new food friend nestled in Foggy Bottom: Attentive to every need, high quality wine list, wonderful food choices presented beautifully, and the perfect accompaniment for a Kennedy Center event. It was a pleasure to make this new food friend's acquaintance

We loved our meal at DISH+drinks - but even more than the meal (which was delicious) was our server/bartender Keith. They say a person can make a meal and without a doubt Keith made the meal more memorable and enjoyable.
If you are in or near the Foggy Bottom go to DISH+drinks and eat whatever Keith recommends (and don't forget to go with his wine recommendation as well.)
DISH+drinks is very lucky to have him!

Ridiculously good food!
Such a nice find! A few blocks to the Kennedy Center -- great per-theatre restaurant. Very tiny and a bit noisy, the food and service made up for any demerits it might have on that score. The chocolate soufflé was heavenly.

Great Pre-theater spot!
I had been looking for a spot close to Kennedy Center to enjoy.a pre dinner meal--this had popped up as a Google maps result. Great food, waiter a hoot & location extremely convenient. Would recommend the scallops on a bed of risotto. We will definitely be back.Would suggest parking @ Kennedy Ctr & walking to restautant.

We decided to dine at DISH
We decided to dine at DISH after a Kennedy Center performance. Great location for doing that. Easy 10 minute walk. Staff graciously greeted us at the door. We had a lovely table by the window. Menu had many palatable choices plus some wonderful specials that evening. Our waiter was very helpful in making our selections. Food was well prepared. We never felt rushed, and the waitstaff was 'just the right amount' of attentive! Nice wine list and not terribly overpriced. Very pleased with the DISH 'experience'!!

Great Find Near Kennedy Center
This was our first time. We found it by looking for a place to eat before going to the Kennedy Center. Everything we read about it on line was positive, and it lived up to that reputation. We took advantage of the valet parking, which for a small surcharge allowed us to leave the car there during the show. Dish + Drink is a pleasant 4 block walk to the Kennedy Center. The staff greated us with a friendly welcome, the specials were explained, we ordered and the wine and food were served. The food was great, but equally enjoyable were the visits by staff to our table to make sure everything was to our liking. They were chatty, but not overly so. Just the right balance. We would unhesitatingly recommend this place.

A hidden gem
This was my first time at the restaurant. The staff and management team treated me like a super star! It's a small restaurant inside The River Inn but the food was SUPER FANTASTIC. I can't wait to visit again real soon.

Great for a quiet dinner
Rolled in on a Tuesday night. Felt welcomed, and enjoyed an eclectic menu of fish and fowl choices. Friendly staff, fun choices, and hard-to-find location made the evening that much more enjoyable!
8/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
Perfect pre-theater dinner!
Quite excellently prepared and served food. The selection of the menu is wide; the cobia special was a real treat. Wonderful, personal service. Easy 15 minute walking distance to The Kennedy Center. The restaurant is a great neighborhood gem.

Dish and Drinks
The bartender makes great drinks and the restaurant is an easy walk to the Kennedy Center.
9/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
A great find
I am so happy to discover this charming little place. Wonderful service, good food, cozy feel. The evening special which was Cobia surrounded by root vegetables was delicious. My friend who is a crab cake snob raved about the crab cakes. A great find for me as I am always looking for a nice place for dinner prior to the Kennedy Center. This was perfect.

One sided place
I feel as though I'm not the biggest fan of restaurants which are part of a sub par hotel. Any reputation is shared by each. I was disappointed to show up and realize it was first floor of a hotel. The name leave some wanting more. The table I was seated at was tucked in a cubby to the right when I arrived. There were so many tables tucked into this cubby that it felt a bit suffocating. Nevertheless food was excellent- I had scallops and mushroom risotto- with duck spring rolls to start-everything cooked to perfection in every way. My date had wild mushroom soup and the free range chicken. Very tasty. Service was attentive and genuinely friendly.
Drinks were refilled and offered in a timely manner.

Saved the evening
We had called ahead for early dinner reservations, 4pm because of Kennedy Center tickets starting at 6 pm. When we arrived the restaurant was empty, we were told that they did not start to serve on Sat. till 5 pm. I explained I had phoned ahead and was told there was a seating at 4:00pm. He went back to the kitchen, returned and said we were welcome to stay and we could order anything on the menu.
The food and wine selection was to everyone's delight, the service was prompt and courteous. This saved our dinner before the opera.
Bravo !! And thank you !!
9/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
Very good - but the room was so so
I was a little surprised at the dining room - it's obvious that it has to serve three meals a day by the casualness of the decor/table tops, etc. Being in a hotel - I should have guessed that. The food was remarkably good. The server was nice guy - and had a quick wit. Easy walk to the Kennedy Center.
9/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
great food, and wonderful service
Clearly not a kids' restaurant, but they were super to my 6-year old, offering him a great hamburger off the menu and super attentive service. Owner/manager came by several times to make sure we were well-taken care of. The hotel location meant there was valet parking and a bag check, which was also handy! Food was fantastic-especially fried green tomatoes.
9/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great pre-concert dining.
DISH is a short ten-minute walk to the Kennedy Center, and a five-minute walk from the Foggy Bottom subway station. DISH kindly let us reserve a table before the usual dinner hour so that we wouldn't have to rush to get to the opera. Our companions took advantage of the River Inn's very affordable valet service. The food was perfect, as always - their squash soup being a reliable favorite of ours.
9/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
Glad I gave it a shot!
Nicely greeted by server Keith. Place was not packed as it was just 5pm. Food was awesome. Server was friendly. Great place to eat. 5-10 mins walking distance to Kennedy Center. I will return!

We ate an early dinner here
We ate an early dinner here befofe going to see a show at the Kennedy Center, which is just a short walk away. The service was excellent, the food was good-we had steak and crab cakes. This was our "fancy" night out on our vacation and since we were staying at the hotel where this restaurant is located, we decided to try it out. I think since we walked by it so many times it felt very much like a hotel restaurant, and less like we were going out for a nice dinner. That being said, we had a great meal, great wine and I would reccomend it to others.
10/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
Perfect for pre Kennedy Center
Enjoyed a wonderful dinner before walking to the Kennedy Center for a concert. Highly recommend getting a reservation, as it was a full place prior to the Kennedy Center evernt
10/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great little place!
I love going to Dish+Drinks! The food and service are great, and their wine list is carefully chosen. Many qualiity wines are available the by the glass. The prices are reasonable (great fixed price option for $35). It's also near the Kennedy Center.

Great Little Restaurant
Had dinner at DISH + drinks and thoroughly enjoyed the good food and ambience. Small neighborhood gem.Nice selection of entrees, good wine list.

Great ambiance and food
The service was incredible, the food was absolutely delicious, and we all loved the contemporary vibe. It is a very small restaurant, tucked away in a hotel lobby, but we feel like we found a gem!

Just as great as the 1st visit
Great location to eat near Kennedy-Center. Great food, outstanding service. See ya next time
10/30/2013 12:00:00 AM
The staff-Tim ,the valet, and front desk gentlemen were extremely helpful and very pleasant. The food was excellent-crab cakes -mostly crab and very light. My friend thoroughly enjoyed her rockfish. We all decided we would definitely return.
Only downer was 2 loud couples sitting next to us for a while, but we could still hear each other as well as the couples.. I picked this restaurant as I wanted to be able to have table conversation. So many restaurants have great food, but are so loud you can't have a conversation!

Not fancy, good food
We were looking for a place in the Foggy Bottom area to eat after a conference, but we weren't up for snooty or dressy. We appreciate good food, so this place was perfect. We had the fried green tomatoes appetizer, followed by steak and frites for my friend and roast pork for myself. Both were cooked perfectly-- again, good dinner, satisfying, though not "amazing". Place was a little loud, service was good though I felt a big break at one point toward the end-- think the place got too busy. Host was accommodating with our reservation and later request to come in a little earlier. Solid choice for a nice night in a traditionally expensive area.

This restaurant is in the
This restaurant is in the street level of a hotel. I was a bit leary of that but it was just fine. It is very convenient to the Kennedy Center and has valet parking. The food was delicious; The service impeccable. My pork chop meal was very, very good.

Located in an Inn with no signs outside I wasn't sure I was in the right place and was a bit worried about the reservation I had made for a business dinner. Well to my delight the food and service was amazing! My boss who is VERY critical couldn't stop raving about the food! We split the ahi tuna appetizer, fried green tomatoes and beet salad for starters. I had the NY strip steak medium and it was done to perfection, served with an awesome peppercorn sauce, delicious twice baked potato and green beans. My boss had the sea scallops with risotto and other diner had the ahi tuna dinner. For dessert we shared baked pears, which could have been done more, they were a bit hard and vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup.

I meet friends there for dinner each time I return to Washington. Good food and excellent, friendly service.

Order the Ahi Tuna!
We dined here after a Kennedy Center performance and, boy, I am glad we selected this place over the others! All parts of our experience were wonderful - service, food, and ambiance. The whipped butter and bread starts you off right! I ordered and enjoyed the fried green tomatoes (seasonal special, I believe) and my husband had the squash soup. Both were delicious that we could have eaten second or thirds. Ahi Tuna & salmon are NUMMY. The place is warm and the staff are politely attentive. We'll go back!

A true gem of a restaurant.
A true gem of a restaurant. Food is superb, owners are involved and very vibrant. I cannot say anything that would belie The Dish.

Fantastic prix fixe at lunch
The 3-course lunch prix fixe for $20 can't be beat. Their soups and salads are fantastic; in summer they have a great gazpacho with crab -- and it's a tasty clump of blue crab. The entree selections at lunch are also excellent -- my favorite is the salade nicoise with a beautiful piece of grilled tuna. And desserts are fine, too (the four parties at our table recently tried three of them -- chocolate souffle with ice cream; brownies and ice cream; and their version of beignets, which are actually fried breaded apples with a caramel topping. No complaints.

Cozy neighborhood gem!
I hadn't been to Dish in well over a year. A friend and I were looking for a quiet dinner in the neighborhood. Dish was perfect, and we loved the $35 prix fixe pre-theatre dinner. I love the ambiance here -- cozy and not noisy. A very fairly priced wine list is a real plus. I'll be back again soon!

Off the Beaten Path . . .
We have stayed at the River Inn numerous times but this is the first time we dined at the little restaurant there. I think at first we feared the fact that it was "contained" in a hotel. But friends in DC gave us a gift card there so we went this past weekend to DC and ate at Dish and loved it. It is perfect for a quiet dinner before the theatre - it is very close to the Kennedy Center. My one and only complaint was that there was nothing really on the menu for vegetarians. I ended up getting crabcakes (I cheat occasionally) but it would have been nice to have some vegetarian options - something I would expect in an urban location.
That is my only complaint; otherwise I would definitely recommend it.
11/15/2013 4:00:00 PM
The food and most importantly
The food and most importantly the staff were amazing. Our server was extremely knowledgable of the food and bar menu and made great recommendations. I definately recommend it for small groups as the overall size of the restaurant is smaller than most. Great place!

good food & ambience
cozy seat near the fireplace on a cold rainy November night. We had steak frites & butternut soup & a bottle of wine...what's not to like!
