Good, but not memorable
In line with W hotel branding, décor and ambiance. The food is artistic, a lot of style, flavorful, but very small portions. My date and I shared appetizer, main dish, dessert, and barely made a dent. Priced ok. Good, but not memorable.

The group I was with ordered a majority of the menu and everything was very well executed! Highly recommend for groups before a night on the town.

Great Lunch Spot
I went during a quick work lunch. I made reservations for around noon, but the restaurant was not busy so I am sure I could have just walked up and got a seat right away. I ordered the quinoa chicken meal. It was a great meal - high protein, low fat, and not a heavy meal. The service was very good, we got our food on time and they were able to process our checks right when we requested the bill.

A Downtown Gem
This was my first trip to IPO and I wasn't pleasantly surprised. It's a convenient business lunch spot, although it can be a little loud during peak hours. Still, we were seated at a spacious table and had little trouble conversing. Our server was pleasant, prompt, and attentive enough to refill our beverages without intruding on the conversation.

We enjoyed an early dinner
We enjoyed an early dinner at IPO before seeing "The Book of Mormon". It was a convenient location for us and we took advantage of their theater menu. The food was very good, nicely presented, and plenty for a before-the-theater dinner. We enjoyed our overall experience at IPO.

Beautiful decor-veryodern & upscale. Within the W hotel which has a beautiful lobby so a good meetup place. The service was great as was the food. We went to the oriental theatre so had free valet parking which was an added bonus!

beat food in the area
Love IPO. It's great for lunch. Only criticism is that it tends to be loud. And I wish its decor wasn't quite so dark.

The food was excellent. The beet salad included some interesting elements that really pulled the flavors together. The short ribs were outstanding. Other than the fact this is in the W hotel and the restaurant itself does not have much character the food was great and I would visit again.

Great food but very noisy
The section my group sat in was incredibly loud. I could literally hear everyone's conversations because the louder it got, the louder everyone had to speak to try to be heard. Food was very good, service was excellent, but since I go out for a lot of lunch meetings, I don't know that I would go back unless they put in some sound dampening equipment. I am not expecting it to be a library, just a normal restaurant noise level would be appreciated.

Food and presentation excellent--especially the scallops and lemon/strawberry/rhubarb dessert. Service was fine. Go early to beat the crowd.

Average food, Outstanding Hostess!
The most outstanding thing about IPO was the service. The hostess, Jessica, offered not just a friendly greeting. She also checked in on our table (maybe because it was slow?) and offered suggestions. She was very conversational, knowledgeable, and when presented with a complaint (about the beet salad) was appropriately apologetic to my husband as a customer, while also protecting the integrity of the kitchen. Rarely do I encounter such admirable interaction, let alone from a hostess. If I had a position open, I would try to steal her away. Our server, by contrast, couldn't even tell us what was in the soup! He was very pleasant, but just a bit of a let-down after our interactions with Jessica. Out of room: beet salad- bad. Mussels- great!

a pleasurable experience.
My companion and I selected several small plates instead of the meal because the choices sounded so delicious that we couldn't make up our minds. The plates were all unique, well presented and very satisfying. We definitely made the right decision! I highly recommend this restaurant.

Both Gregs, server and manager, were very attentive, polite and knowledgeable..

While the restaurant was very busy with an event on the night we were there, we were still accommodated in the lobby/living room lounge with great food, drinks, and service. The presentation of the food on each of our dishes was outstanding. The roasted cauliflower salad was a great starter, the 48 hour beef short ribs were very tasty, and the poached halibut entree had flavors that were all perfectly balanced. The banana and chocolate dessert was interesting and delicious. Our service was great and really helped to make for a memorable event.

Very good food. Small eclectic menu creatively produced. Hamachi appetizer was outstanding. Salmon was deliciously prepared. The flatbread appetizer is definitely for 2. The banana nutella dessert was large enough to share. Not a strong nutella flavor but very good.

My husband and I enjoyed a very nice per theatre dinner at IPO. The service was excellent
As a vegan I often have very limited options but at IPO they had several wonderful items to choose for

While I really enjoyed the food, I found the service to be lacking, ad found that it was too dark for a business lunch.

Quick and Special
We ate at IPO before heading to a show for to celebrate a birthday. We ended up being late because of jury duty, the restaurant was very understanding and were able to accommodate our time schedule. They even brought out a special birthday dessert. The food there was great, the plates were smaller which I like because I enjoy sampling different food. The flat bread was delicious as well as the scallops.

Get the Mussels
While my entree (halibut) was good--and so, so pretty--the mussels and the roasted cauliflower salad were to my mind the standouts of the meal. I also enjoyed the sorbet selection; pear, strawberry rhubarb and passion fruit, one scoop of each.

I was looking for a unique restaurant close to the downtown Chicago hotel where I was meeting a colleague. The information on the website for IPO was fresh, clean and inviting. Friendly and competent staff, really good food, no pressure. Excellent!

Great food and service for brunch, whi ch makes us wonder why dinner service is so inconsistent

Before or after theater
Recommended by Broadway in Chicago, we went because of the theater pri fix.
The theater matinee allowed us to have a 5:00 p.m. dinner reservation. We were the first party of the evening so the space was quiet and clean and we had our server's undivided attention. By the time we left most of the tables were occupied.
The mussels were the best ever and the Amish chicken breast was also excellent....seasoned just right, but what makes it imperative for us to return was the banana nutella desert ....beautifully presented and scrumptious from the first taste to the last morsel.....way beyond delicious.
They also had a small but impressive selection of wine by the glass and excellent service.

Undiscovered gem for lunch
Had the crabcakes. They were fabulous and service excellent. Pretty space as well. Need to try for dinner.

The food was fresh and well prepared. The menu was not extensive, but had some good choices.

Excellent Business Lunch!
Great spot for a business/professional lunch. Prices are not unreasonable for what you're getting and, most importantly, where you're getting it (located inside the W Hotel in the Loop). Truffle fries were great and the Cuban sandwich was excellent as well.

Good lunch spot
Sophisticated decor with good food. A nice place to meet a friend for lunch.

We had a great evening here. The menu is fairly short and the plates small, but everything was excellent. From the roasted cauliflower starter to the rib eye steak and the nutella and banana desert. Delicious!

Best dinner in a while!
I dine out frequently and can honestly say that Saturday's dinner was one of the best I have had in a while. The short ribs were excellent. My friend had the salmon which was also cooked to perfection. Executive Chef Trevor Hoyte made it a point to stop at our table to ask about our meal which also added that special touch to the meal. I will be returning soon for another dinner.

Not Your Average Hotel Restaurant
After many years of staying at the W Hotel, I finally ate at IPO. I'm glad I did. It was delicious. The menu is small and not your standard hotel fare. Many unique dishes. I strongly recommend the hibachi appetizer, the rib eye (especially for its potato and mushroom accompaniments), and the nutella banana dessert. Service was efficient and respectful. Give IPO a try.

My husband and I went to IPO for our anniversary. The food was excellent. Some unique selections and presentation was beautiful. The ambience was good but not really a romantic restaurant.

IPO is open late
It's open late which was a godsend after a long business meeting on LaSalle st. Service was great, best Caesar salad I have ever had. Banana Nutella dessert was too much goin on on one plate but was tasty. Some kind of powder in a little pile next t o the banana. Would come back And rrecommend!

Great First Impression
I was able to take a few clients to IPO earlier this week. The staff was incredibly friendly and on top of all the little things that are often overlooked. Our waiter did a great job of explaining menu and making recommendations. The food was outstanding!! I would encourage anyone to try the lobster mac and cheese or the crab cake sandwich. The setting modern, cozy and elegant at the W Hotel. I am lookin forward to returning very soon.

Great Local Option
From the moment I entered and was greeted by the friendly, top-shelf hostess to my noted departure, I was impressed with IPO. Service was attentive without being intrusive, the lunch menu was well-presented, the food as chockful of delicate and balanced flavor and nearly every request was accommodated. In my reservation, I asked for a private space, which was granted. However, as it was a Friday noon slot and the holidays are upon us, the space was a little louder than I would have liked. This was my first visit and I will keep this in mind. Otherwise, just a lovely experience and I do plan to both return and recommend. Thank you IPO and Trevor, keep up the great work!!!!!
