The Food has a healthy aspect
The Food has a healthy aspect to it with good choices for all different ages. Of course the prices are sky high but that is typical of hotels in prime locations.

This is an 'Asian-flavor' restauant..best blue-point lightly batter fried in a sabyon sauce oyster's I've ever eaten! absolutely succulent.
I ordered the Duck breast 'pho' which put it in a large bowl with some broath, nice piece of fois-gras and 3 duck meat balls..almost too much food. One member had the shrimp Thai curry..was a bit spicy. The beet salad was superb. Highly recommend. We dine early at 5:30 to miss the crowd and the noise. :-) Our waiter had been serving in this hotel (Fairmont) restaurant for 17 years..that says a lot, n'est ce pas?

Food 50-50, all the rest 200%
Food was 50-50 and a little weak in lamb, side dish areas. Too spicy and not revealed on menu or by waiter. Sushi, however is reliably terrific and not cheap. We live in the area and would to come often. Will try mussels next.

Aria Is Chicago Style
Aria is a very special place. Although in a well known hotel, the Fairmont, Aria is anything but ordinary. Low light focuses the diner's senses on the food and wine. Starting off with Enos, the wine bar, you enter the hotel knowing you are in for a treat. The wine bar is remarkable in selection, attention to detail, and quality. The restaurant guides you past the significant cocktail and sushi bar, both of which are excellent leading to the dinner table. Homemade bread and sauces complimented a remarkably nice cabernet. Grouper with chorizo and lentils in a colourful bowl presentation was a feast. Almond bark with coffee finished the excellent design of the chef and attendant staff. Aria is required relief for the weary guest.

The staff is outstanding!
The vivid lunch crowd was such, that my sushi order did not reach my table in time to enjoy. After 35 minutes of waiting, my waiter and the hostess decided to make my order "to go", complimentary. It was a truly sweet gesture as I was about to leave for the airport. The business of the restaurant and the lively crowd suggested, that the place is a truly successful and pleasant eatery!

We happened to be staying at the Fairmont and were lucky to have such a good restaurant inside the hotel. The food was fresh, eclectic and delicious.

I was worried when I saw the new menu, but the chef delivered. Really delivered!
Every dish was delicious. Perfectly seasoned and cooked. We had the duck, grouper and scallops as entres. So much flavor....clean, fresh, crisp. Crab cakes and Fois gras as apps, yum. Killer french fries. Plates were licked clean.

Innovative sushi selection. Light menu versus the many steak houses in the area. Duck was very good. Nice quiet place where you can dine on good food at leisure and talk.

Everything was wonderful, but have to especially complement the wait staff. They responded to every request and were very intune to the needs of our group. The room with large round table and beautiful stone wall was perfect for us. We will definitely recommend to our friends traveling to Cicago.

Excellent Choice in New East Side
We have been coming to Aria since we lived in the New East Side about 8 years ago and we have continued to return there when we visit. In the Fairmont Hotel, prices are moderate, the wait staff reliable and the food an eclectic interesting, tasty mixture of Chicago-style food. The Nan-bread served as bread, with several dipping sauces is good. Portions of food are big enough to share, especially if you are not in your 20's or 30's. I had the lamb chops this time, and my wife had grouper; both were excellent.

I was celebrating a surprise BDAY lunch and they went the extra mile to make sure it was memorable. Great job guys.
6/7/2013 4:00:00 PM
This place is a great special occasion treat. You order off a menu and also select items from an open buffet. The buffet included sensational smoked salmon, lots of salads, beautiful fresh fruit and tasty (but not spectacular) sushi. Be sure to moderate your consumption, because the main course is huge. Everyone at out table order the crab cakes with spinach and poached eggs. Coming from the Pacific Northwest I was a bit hesitant to try crab in Chicago but I needn't have worried. The dish was as good as any I have had in Portland.
After all this, dessert!. Small portions of lovely and decadent pastries.
The ambiance is very nice and service was great.
Small quibble--coffee is excellent and plentiful, but $5 a cup seems a bit pricey.

We recently celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary, and based upon a recommendation from a friend, chose to eat at Aria. The atmosphere was great, the service was wonderful, and we got a great seat by the window overlooking the great city of Chicago. Thank you for helping to make our evening special!

Our Party of 5 had dinner
Our Party of 5 had dinner at Aria on a Tuesday night and it was very quiet (not many people in the restaurant). We were a little apprehensive about the dining experience, however were were pleasantly surprised. The meal was very good and our waiter made some nice wine recommendations.
7/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
My wife and I are definetly foodies. We plan our trips around where we are going to eat. Our experience at Aria was fantastic. We aren't big drinkers, usually a glass of wine each. The waiter noticed I was not finding what I wanted by the glass. He asked me what I usually like, then proceeded to bring me tastings of a few different wines that were not on the list. For our main meals , my wife had the scallops and I had the duck. We both felt they were both some of the best we ever had. The only negative, which really wasn't a negative for us, was that on a Friday night at 7:30 the place was mostly empty. To the people eating else where that night, you were missing out on a great restaurant.

Great leisurely served meal
We went for dinner a few hours before going to the theater on a Saturday night. We ordered from the sushi bar for an appetizer and it was lovey and fresh. For our main course, i had the ny strip and my hubby had the ribeye. Both were wonderful cuts and perfectly prepared. The sides were very tasty and creative but my hubby was a bit sad his veggies were a bit too firm for his preference. We loved the wine selection. While we both got pino noir we were able to get diffrent labels so that I could have a lighter wine with my dinner... Great experience. Attentive staff with good recommendations without hovering too much.

The food was outstanding and the service was first class. This appears to be an unknown little gem in a city made for pure foodies. We loved it so much we had dinner at Aria's twice, which we never do when we are in Chicago. We would definately go again and again.

Step up from typical hotel fare
Despite being the go-to restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Aria manages to offer a quality dinner menu.
Interesting fusion of Pan-American dishes with new emphasis on sushi menu. Perhaps a bit overpriced for the
overall experience but the atmosphere and flavors meet expectation. Service is sluggish, but staff is amiable.
9/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great service, varied food choices, where we sat was somewhat dark and hard to read menu. Wait staff helpful and friendly
9/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
Good for group discussion
The round table we sat at in a cubby was perfect for meeting with my group of eight people. Everyone enjoyed their food when we finally received it. It was a busy evening and they seemed unprepared for that. Kept forgetting the little things, sparkling water, tea, soy sauce etc. Server was very nice though and pleasant to work with. They also were exceptional with working with food allergies.
So still all in all a great place.

Work on the service!!
We had to keep reminding our waiter to get our appetizer to us.
He seemed overly busy and did not return to us much!
Food was great!

quiet bday celebration
I did an internet search for an Asian inspired restaurant. Somehow I stumbled across Aria's webpage and first admired the pictures of the atmosphere. I knew immediately that this place would provide the great, quiet and intimate feel I was going for. Being that this is my very first time in Chicago, trying to follow the gps and navigate between lower and upper levels of the street was a little confusing. I called the restaurant and the staff was eager to help me find the location. Upon arrival the restaurant was exactly how it was described on their site. The food was amazing. Our waiter was great and even though I only mentioned that it was my friend's bday in casual conversation, he bought out a bday dessert without me even asking.
10/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
such an interesting menu
Our waiter was outstanding. They had my (pear) vodka, which is special and the pour was generous. And they didn't care that we ordered only appetizers (including the best soup I've had in a long time and a large salad my friend enjoyed with a great dressing.)
We'll go back.
10/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
Inventive and delicious!
Food was creative, sushi was very fresh and variety of options was great for a larger group. We enjoyed the specialty cocktails and service as well.
11/14/2013 4:00:00 PM
The food, wine and service were perfect or better. The crispy duck is the best anywhere in town.
11/17/2013 4:00:00 PM
I enjoyed the convenience and atmosphere. The food was very good. I have no complaints. I would definitely return.
11/21/2013 4:00:00 PM
Unfortunately, a new sushi chef ...
... so my client didn't get his sushi rolls for quite awhile and we both had meetings. We had to pack 1/2 the lunch to go. Aria did comp the lunch.
Other than that, service was great and food was excellent (when it came).

Service was #1
Gushing over our waiter - he was outstanding and certainly made my 9 year old feel more comfortable in an upscale restaurant. He was spot on with recommendations and gave great information about the wine. Will go back!
11/29/2013 4:00:00 PM
Went there after I got engaged to my fiancée and they were very accommodating.
11/29/2013 4:00:00 PM
Three friends & I traveled into the city for the One of a Kind sale, and I picked our restaurant. The restaurant was basically empty when we arrived for our 7:00 dinner reservation & we all thought we had made a mistake. Since I picked the venue I was apprehensive that I had made a mistake. We stayed (although we all thought about leaving) and we ordered 4 different fish meals, and we loved it all. Great food. Naan bread was awesome too! Thanks for a wonderful dining experience. We'll be back!
12/3/2013 4:00:00 PM
Every time I have been in Chicago over the last 8+ years I have had a least one meal here and it has always been consistently good. Hotel restaurants are frequently rather disappointing but despite fairly unexceptional decor and dark lighting (unchanged over time) this place never fails to produce perfectly prepared food served by attentive and friendly staff. It isn't Naha, but not that far off, and it isn't Sixteen at the Trump but actually better for it!
Deserves more acclaim and then perhaps they can give it a makeover so that the interior is a little more interesting.

Quality and value
