Still a Great Brunch
Second visit. Warm and friendly staff. Excellent place for a Sunday afternoon brunch. The wait staff and kitchen are very accommodating. This was only our second visit, but the staff remembered us and treated us like old friends. On both of our visits, one of our party requested something from another menu other than the one in service and we were cheerfully served. Great place for a leisurely brunch. We will be back for a third visit

Don't let the fact that this
Don't let the fact that this restaurant is attached to a hotel sway your decision to visit. The wine selection is amazing and the food is top notch.
My suggestion - get a wine flight along with several $1-5 small bite items. Some of these low priced bite items are really just a single bite, but SO worth it. We only ordered a variety of these small-medium sized bite items and were full.

This is a great place to go
This is a great place to go for a quiet lunch or a drink after work. It's not crowded at lunch, the food is good, and the servers are gracious. Outdoor seating is especially nice

We had an enjoyable dinner
We had an enjoyable dinner & tried the special 3 course Spanish menu. The appetizers & main courses were very good. I had the apple fritter for dessert & found it very heavy with only small bits of grated apple in fried dough. The pistachio ice cream accompanying it was delicious. It was a nice setting. Lots of wines to chose from.

Fabulous Neighborhood Gem
the one bites at the BAR are to die for....can't get any better than the chicken with polenta for dinner. Honey crisp with a sauce that is amazing.

I stay at this hotel nearly every week, I actually choose it for two reasons, Vinefera and the fitness facility! I love Vinefera, food and service always excellent. My only recommendation is to update the menu, it has not changed in more than a year!
4/28/2013 4:00:00 PM
Food and service was excellent.
We went for a birthday dinner. The four of us tried different entrees and everyone enjoyed their choices. We will definitely return to this neighborhood gem!

Not a fan of hotel restaurants
Not a fan of hotel restaurants but they've gotten better the last 5 -10 yrs. Vinifera, (Westin in Reston) has IT! Decor - comfortable and elegant. Staff - knowledgeable, friendly, without pretension. Wines - reasonably priced, varied. Food - tasty, well-prepared, nicely presented. The small bites were delightful, try the cheese-stuffed dates wrapped in bresola! The venison was delicious. The only glitch, fried calamari, was over-breaded/over-spiced. I told our server and she said they were moving to a grilled version soon - they recognized the issue. Our duck and sea bass entrees were great! My duck was cooked perfectly, accompanied by a nice wine reduction over faro and asian vegetables. Full, we end on sorbet and port! Love it!

Lovely anniversary celebration
This was our first time at Vinifera, but not our last. We were very impressed with the food and service.
5/9/2013 4:00:00 PM
Great menu selections
Choice between small plates, small bites, or entree portions. Great concept. Very extensive wine list and lots of fun here with a small group that wants to try lots of dishes. Have eaten here six or seven times and have never been disappointed.

We had Mother's Day Brunch -- 4 couples. Food was outstanding ... great selection!
5/11/2013 4:00:00 PM
Great Mother's Day Buffet
They went all out for Mother's Day. The menu and the food was superb. They also had buffets available with fruit, desserts, cheese, shrimp, and a variety of other side dishes.

Extraordinary Mother's Day!
Celebrating Mother's Day at Vinifera was absolutely the highlight of my day and much appreciation to the staff, which provided a very memorable day.
Much appreciation to the manager, Bryant Phillips and our servers, Rob/Melissa as they each provided the excellence in service and satisfaction!!
Last but not least, kudos to chefs, as the menu choices were varied perfectly!! We were a party of five and each of us were completely content from the appetizer bar to the main course and desserts.
5/11/2013 4:00:00 PM
so many choices, so little time
We want to try everything every time and just aren't able. We love the little tastes - one delicious mouthful of amazing flavor. The small plates and salads are fresh and creatively presented. The entree was substantial (got to take some home to enjoy later). The small desserts are a perfect size! Can't wait to return.

I had seen this place for many years but had never gone it. What a pleasant surprise! The food, wine, and, service were all good which is, after all, what you want. Only caution is to ask not to be seated by the kitchen door as it slams the wall next to that table.

Surprising find in Reston
Don't go for the wine, most wines sold you can find at the grocery grocery store, and they were sold at a ridiculous markup. However, with that said, go for the food. Seriously, make sure you are hungry and try as much as you can. The two of us started out with three sharing plates: the risotto balls, the Spanish potato onion tortilla, and the salmon. The risotto was OK, but needed more seasoning, the tortilla was very good and flavorful, and the salmon was amazing. The secondary courses were absolutely amazing. Chef Bo picks complimentary flavors and is truly passionate about cooking. The overall service was very slow and left something to be desired, but the food made up for it. Highly recommend
5/23/2013 4:00:00 PM
I had the seared Mahi Tuna with Ice Tea it was very succulent, perfect amount of seasoning for flavor, the portion size was appropriate. The staff were very polite and proffesional but a little slow when it was not busy. They could have been more attentive.
5/24/2013 4:00:00 PM
Nice place, tucked into a business complex, in the Westin Hotel. Pretty, great food. Bartender needed another person. Sat at the bar and waited 15 minutes for a drink. Otherwise, great experience.

More servers, please
On a warm evening in early June, a friend and I dined on the patio at Vinifera. Selected Vinifera because, three years ago, enjoyed great dinner, served by a hostess, waiter and table crew, plus, an expert to help us with the wine list. Fast forward to this June and all of those persons largely are wrapped up into one man: he greeted us and showed us to our table and, though our waitress was friendly, that same man arrived to help us select the wine, and he even brought a few of our plates. More (and well-trained) servers would provide the touch of class that Vinifera deserves.
The wine list is superb, especially for DC area: artisanal wines, relatively reasonably priced. Small plates were tasty and perfect for dining on the patio.

It would have been nicer if
It would have been nicer if there weren't screaming children to ruin the ambience, but what do you expect in a hotel restaurant. The food was very artistic and tastee. The service was great.

Went there with a group of friends and every one of us had an amazing meal. I would definitely recommend.
6/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
Does not let you down
For a hotel dining room, this restaurant is quiet on the weekends and the food is excellent. We particularly like the small plates selection. I had the sea bass and my husband had the duck as our main courses - both were perfectly cooked and delightfully presented.
6/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
Several nice wines are available
Several nice wines are available by the glass. Large dining room and a lovely outdoor patio area of dining. I was there about 6:30 PM on a Wednesday evening, the restaurant was not very busy, but it was difficult to get service and the attention of my server.
Food was pretty good. I had an heirloom tomato salad which was delicious and then the paella. The rice and seafood were very good but the sausage and chicken were overcooked and dry.
Somewhat on the pricey side. I will try again the next time I am back in the Northern Virginia area.

Great Food and Wine for Anniversary
This is at least the third time my husband and I have celebrated our anniversary at Vinifera, and I have booked two birthday lunches here as well. The menu and the wine list never disappoint. There is always an interesting variety of wines by the glass, and the selection of wines by the bottle is impressive and extensive. Also, Ryan, the sommelier, went above and beyond with the wine service. The food is spectacular, too

Sophisticated atmosphere, food
Vinifera is a wonderful restaurant with delicious tapas, one-bites, and entrees.
I love the calm, elegant atmosphere; I literally relax the moment I sit down. Good wine list and generous wine samples if you want to try before you buy. Service was excellent; not too slow and not too rushed. I love this place!

Great for Foodies
Came here Sunday night and the experience was well-worth the trip. The left side of the menu is set up for foodies who like to try a bit of everything - mostly amuse bouche and tapas offerings which makes the dining experience a fun journey. The right side of the menu is designed with traditional entrèe options for the diner who is looking to have a full meal. Maria our server was nothing short of wonderful - very attentive and knowledgeable, which made the experience that much better. We ordered nearly everything offered on the amuse bouche/tapas portion of the menu and were delighted with everything we had - the dishes were flavorful, well-seasoned and artfully presented. All-in-all, a great experience and am looking forward to going back

Stop going to any other restaurant in Reston.
Nothing beats Vinifera.
The food, the service, the ambiance, perfect
Just go there and experience the journey of dining at Vinifera!

Great experience, not the best food
We loved sitting outside by the fire and relaxing in the couches. The wine was outstanding!! I thought the food was not good. Next time I will go with just a cheese platter and wine. The pita chips were hard as rocks, and the dessert was dry cake. I will go for scenery, but not food...

Enjoyed the Service.
Food was very good as always but the best part of dining here is Maria. This is the third time we've had Maria as our server and she is excellent. Friendly and cheerful, she's outstanding.

Classy and comfortable
My husband and I enjoyed our date night at Vinifera, recently. We went for restaurant week. The reason it didn't get 5 stars from me is that my fish came dry/overdone. However, the server substituted it for me with the goat cheese ravioli and it was delicious. My husband's rib-eye steak was good as well. We'd like to return and try their small plates and pintxos.

Hard to find, but worth the search
Skip the entrees (or split one) and focus on the small plates side of the menu. Everything we ate was simply delicious. Great flavor profiles, a few unusual ingredients, and not once did either of us reach for the salt or pepper. Extensive wine list with 15-20 available by the glass (your choice of 4 or 6 ounce serving).
Restaurant is inside the Reston Westin hotel; it was difficult to find the entrance from the main road. Except for a noisy private party outside, the restaurant was nearly empty on a Saturday night -- not completely unexpected for a hotel restaurant, but nonetheless, this place deserves a few more customers.

Knowledgeable, attentive staff
Knowledgeable, attentive staff offered helpful suggestions about sampling a number of delightful small plates and wines. The food was obviously prepared with care and attention to technique and taste. A perfect meal.

Other reviewers had rated
Other reviewers had rated service here to be only poor to fair. Actually we found it to be very good. Servers were attentive but not annoyingly so. Pace of service was excellent for what we wanted -- a quiet, relaxed dinner to allow two friends to catch up with each other and enjoy good conversation.

Try Pan-Asian World Tour Menu!
In addition to the regular menu, the restaurant is currently featuring a special pan-Asian prix fixe dinner. Three courses (choices for each) for $38.00. The sea bass over jasmine rice was fabulous - one of the best I have ever had. We go here for dinner or for lunch and have never been disappointed.

This place is very hard to find but well worth the trouble. Incredible small plates and entrees. Great waiter who shared lots of information with is. It is attached to the Westin and draws lots of business travelers but I can't believe more locals don't come here

My family and I have been dining here on various weekends for lunch numerous times. We feel very content coming to Vinifera, the pleasant waitress is very assertive when it comes to our specific meal needs. She keeps a sharp eye on our table and stays on top of things. We enjoy the relaxed and quiet ambiance the late afternoons have to offer at Vinifera. The food is nothing below outstanding.

Have been to Vinifera with a friend who is a vegetarian several times. Each visit was a very positive experience. The service is always outstanding, helpful without being obtrusive. The food is consistently good and well presented. The paella was good enough to try more than once. The menu is somewhat limited in selection of entrees, but has a nice variety of small plates that can be combined to make a meal.

Came in with my wife for breakfast on a quiet late Saturday morning. Tried to use the front entrance but it was locked which seemed odd and uninviting. So we walked around and went in the hotel entrance instead. A very cheerful young lady greeted us in the bar area and gave us a seat. We were very pleased by her service. Food was incredible. Surprised breakfast was so good considering it's a wine bar/bistro. We will defiantly be returning.

The best Westin restaurant
I selected small plates. There were wonderful options. My favorite was the Spanish tortilla. Highly recommend for those in the area.

Located in the Westin. A little hard to locate...but what a find! The paella was the best. Large shrimp and scallops and very flavorful. The wine list had a variety of choices. Wonderful Date NIght Out
My wife and I were told by to come here by another couple that frequent the restaurant often. It did not disappoint. We started off with a glass of Chiraz for my wife while I had the champagne flight. They were wonderful. We especially loved their Moscato sparkling wine. Appetizers were also excellent. I choose the Lobster risotto while my wife choose some of the bite sized samples (I can’t remember which ones but she said they were excellent). For the main course, I had veal and she had the short ribs, another excellent serving. We finished the evening with a pumpkin spice sampler and chocolate cake. All in all, it was a wonderful meal and we hope to come again soon.
