The perfect end to a wonderful trip
We took my mom and sister to this restaurant on the day before they left Vancouver, it was the perfect way to end a trip. I don't know why everyone who visits Grouse Mountain doesn't dine at the restaurant because it costs $40 to make the journey up and all the entrees are $40 so it's basically like getting up the mountain and getting a free meal too!We knew the views were going to be spectacular but had read mixed reviews about the food so we were pleasantly surprised that it was absolutely amazing! The complimentary warm bread was a nice touch, along with a spoonful of ceviche and mini sorbet cones at the end of the meal. Service was fantastic and the view was beautiful. Only downside was a noisy group that distracted from the ambience.

Lovely food & view
A special occasion spot. On our most recent visit, the weather and vistas didn't disappoint.
Unfortunately, our waiter was inexperienced; we sat for more than 20 minutes before greeted, offered water or other beverages. Friendly but not up to the task. One of our party requested the 5-course tasting/wine pairings menu, but was told it's only available if all at the table has it as well. We weren't as hungry, so the appealing tasting menu went ... untasted.
The food was delicious, the amuse bouches that arrived with warm bread and melt-in-your-mouth compound butter. Portions were smaller, as one would predict with 'fine dining', but satisfying.
The included skyride up & down the mountain added to the sense of occasion. We will be back.

Mountain top experience
To be honest we went for the view. You ride the Grouse Mountain tram to the top _ $39/person. but if you reserve ad each person orders at least an entree - the ride is free,
We went on a Sunday night - totally foggy all the way up and all through dinner - no view.
But the food was outstanding.- I had scallops and my wife smoked chicken after a parma ham appetizer. All very creative. They also served another little complementary appetizer and small chocolate cups after dinner.
And the fog cleared for our ride down.

Fine dinner with a spectacular view
We had a very tasty dinner with delicious food, fine wines and a good service. And we got the best place in the restaurant.
The panorama view from the "Observatory" to Vancouver is spectacular.

very pleased with the experience
very pleased with the experience .My friends love it.
Will be back.

We will be back
My partner and I had one for the memory bank dining at the Observatory and highly recommend it... Early reservations guarantee the best seat with the view.

Best view of Vancouver
Most professional service and best quality food. They provided plates for us to share the entree. The wine recommendation we had matched well with the food. Really enjoyed the warm bread! Last but not least, you cannot beat the view from the restaurant! Remember to book in advance and get the Skytrain tickets for free!

If you want to impress someone,
If you want to impress someone, this is the place. It is perfect for visitors to Vancouver. The view is outstanding and the staff very knowledgable and professional. The food is beautifully presented. I will say that the halibut I had this time was a little over-cooked, but the rest was excellent. I have not yet visited in winter, but I think I will.

Dinner at the Observatory
Friendly prompt service, nice atmosphere lends itself to a relatively quite romantic genre at a reasonable price.

Loved it! From the amuse-bouche
Loved it! From the amuse-bouche to the light, crisp bread to the beautiful and delicious main courses (perfect lamb and looking at the halibut at other tables made me want to come back for it too, but zero regrets on the lamb) loved it all. Gorgeous view too.

Great experience! I've one
Great experience! I've one reserve though, regarding the bill that they're presenting you the gratuity included without asking you. I hate that feeling that someone his forcing your hand, I know how to appreciate a great service and how to reward it!
on the top of that they charge on my credit card for the dinner which make total sense, but on the top of it they put a old of $400 on my credit for 15 days! That's pretty bad, never again.

Good dining experience
We had dinner with a friend there recently. The view from the top of the mountain was fantastic, and the food was great, although I wish there had been more to choose from. We really enjoyed dinner nevertheless.
7/5/2013 4:00:00 PM
Absolutely amazing venue, products and service. What blew me away aside from the great food that was freshly and personally made to perfection, was how they made gluten free dish for a member at our table. Even the gluten free bread was delicious.

Not enough words can describe how amazing this restaurant was. I surprised my boyfriend and took him here for his birthday. I expected it to be nice but one of those nice, over expensive restaurant where the service was mediocre. THAT WAS NOT THE CASE HERE.... every single staff member was so pleasant, and I felt so special while dining here. The presentation of the food was impeccable and each bite got better and better. I would recommend this to anyone, but especially for a romantic dinner with a loved one. Bravo!
7/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
We took our out of town guest there and watched the city come to live.

Breathtaking view and amazing staff
This place absolutely blew my mind! I had taken my partner out for his birthday and I wanted it to be very special as he is going through a tough period at the moment. Not only did the Observatory meet our expectations, it exceeded them! Every course was DELICIOUS and the watching the view turn from daylight to sunset to darkness with only city lights was something else! And finally, as they knew it was his birthday they brought out a little dish for him with a 'happy birthday' chocolate on top, it was perfect and really was the icing on the cake at the end of a great evening. Would recommend this place to anyone! I want to bring my family here when they visit from Australia!
7/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
We made the reservation and arrived early and enjoyed the Grizzly Bear habitat and then enjoyed a fantastic dinner overlooking all of Vancouver.
7/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
Absolutely wonderful. Fantastic
Absolutely wonderful. Fantastic views, 20 minute ride from downtown Vancouver. They treated us like royalty. I cannot say enough about the manager, he made sure everything was perfect for my wife's 50th.
Some day we will be back

We found our way to the Observatory at night with our group of 6. The restaurant seats a limited number of groups and were unable to seat us at a window but we enjoyed the evening anyway. Our waiter quickly tailored his style to our table and provided great recommendations through out the meal- Especially in finding an excellent BC wine from the wine list. He also had expert assistance from the floor manager who actively aided the experience. The pace of our dining experience was perfect. We had the most fun as a family in a very long time. Worth finding at night for those who want to experience a great dining experience as well as the night time lights of Vancouver.

Delicious and beautiful
The view from our table was spectacular. The food was a beautiful work of art and every bite was full of flavour. Our waiter was very helpful when making food choices and his service was friendly and well-timed. Don't forget to make reservations so the Observatory will cover the gondola ride up the mountain.

We were visiting Vancouver for the first time for our six year anniversary. We requested a table near the window overlooking the city and boy did we get it. We got one of the best seats in the house. We had great views of the mountains and the city. The food was great and the experience was unforgettable. I know a lot of reviews we had read bashed the quality of the food--but I don't know where they were coming from. I had the dungeness crab appetizer and salmon entree and I thought they were both amazing. The proportions of food were also a good amount. You're not getting the super sized value meal but you're also not getting pretentious food the size of a quarter. We were very pleased with our experience at The Observatory.

The presentation of the appetizers,
The presentation of the appetizers, main course and dessert was done very well and worth taking photos of.

Outstanding view restaurant
It is rare for a restaurant to combine a great view with great food, but this one has it all. The view of the city from the top of Grouse Mountain is stunning on a good day (or evening) and the restaurant takes full advantage of it with its seating arrangements. The food was exceptional, interesting, innovative and superbly presented, and the service was impeccable, and the wine list overwhelming. It is undoubtedly an expensive restaurant, but when you take into account that gondola trip up and down is included in the price of the meal, it makes the entire package reasonable. Highly recommended.
8/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
A couple of hickups
The pork was well overcooked and we returned that dish and substituted a salmon dish which was perfectly cooked and looked delicious.
The chicken dish was warm when it arrived and I asked to have it warmed up. They cooked an entirely new dish which was the perfect temperature when it arrived.
The staff were gracious at all times.
I would go back again.

He had a very happy birthday
It was my husband's birthday and I chose the Observatory at Grouse Mountain to honor him. We could not have had a nicer experience. The staff were all very professional, friendly and accommodating. The food presentation was a feast for the eyes. My husband loves salmon and enjoys trying different ways of its preparation. The Observatory won a huge "oh yes" from him. He said it was flavored perfectly, cooked exactly right. We would be remiss in not mentioning the view. OMG, fantastic!! What a beautiful way to dine satisfying all your senses. We may not get back to Vancouver for a few years but we will definitely go to the Observatory when we return to visit. A great trip, great vacation and fantastic birthday dinner for my hubby.

Great place for a special
Great place for a special occasion. Our server did wine pairings for us which added to the experience. Will be back for sure!

Awesome food and presentation
I have lived in Vancouver for over 20 years...received a Grouse Mountain gift card...not a skier but love food and views so thought I would try the restaurant. It totally exceeded my expectations. I was expecting the usual tourist trap food which I figure they can get away with given the venue and views but I was very pleasantly surprised...an iron chef must be in the kitchen here! The food was divine and the service was great. I would highly recommend this for a special occasion. Wish it was easier to get to for frequent dining as I would be a regular for sure! Maybe the chef should consider opening a restaurant at the base of the mountain as well!

Excellent fine dining restaurant,
Excellent fine dining restaurant, casual, elegant setting, with outstanding view atop Grouse Mountain. Great menu, great food preparation, all dishes fixed just right, tasty, nice portion sizes. Wine list to complement dinner menu. Great service, server knew menu well and helped with menu choices, there when needed without being pushy. And the added bonus, the view of Vancouver from atop Grouse Mountain. If you haven't tried this restaurant, you must.

We had our anniversary dinner at the Observatory.
We had the five course dinner for 125 which also includes to each course a matching wine. It's was great because since we were there for the first time you got a little impression of which good food they serve.
The weather was not nice, it was raining, foggy and very windy so we couldn't see the city but it didn't matter much because the room in which we had our table was really nice and cosy.
We will come again for sure!
8/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
We arrived for our reservation and was shown to our seats immediately. We weren't seated directly next to the windows, but still had very good views from where we sat of beautiful Vancouver below and the sunset. Very romantic. Our waiter, Byron, was attentive yet not hovering. He gave excellent suggestions and from what I noticed of the other staff, all were busy, but not obtrusive. The appetizers, crab duo and living green salad, were excellent. The table next to ours even took pictures of their appetizer it was so unique! We both chose the beef strip loin which was not only visually appealing, but a new experience for even the most discerning taste buds. Drinks and chocolates at the end of the meal were perfect. We will definitely return!
9/1/2013 12:00:00 AM
They came for the view...
...and they got it in Spades! The food was stunning and the service impeccable. My family really enjoyed themselves, thank you very much for the fine dining experience. Nothing can beat the view, but the entire evening came in a close second :)
P.S. The Morels were to die for. Brought back memories of picking them as a child, fresh, fried with garlic, butter and cream...swoon!

Four years ago, three of us had a special experience dining at Observatory restaurant. This time, there were seven of us and we repeated it. The view is spectacular, and this time we had the bonus of an amazing lightning storm ! Our four friends had never been before and we had built it up as a wonderful time, and there was nobody disappointed. If you are going to Vancouver, then you absolutely must go to Grouse Mountain and if you have a special event to celebrate, then go to Observatory restaurant for great food and service.

Fantastic well worth the visit!!
We ate here as we had family visiting from the UK. This was our first time here also and it was fantastic. The service was great and the food was just divine and really enjoyed the margarita. Very pleased that we came here as it was the perfect ending to my family's holiday.

Beautiful AND delicious!!!
It's been a very long time since we had dinner at the top of Grouse Mountain ... and we were delighted with the food and service. The view is gorgeous no matter what. For this visit, we had visitors from New Zealand who wanted to see bears. Coupling that viewing with dinner at the Observatory worked beautifully!
The staff are very attentive and looked after our every request.
We would recommend this restaurant without hesitation.

The whole experience was worth it. Loved the food, ambience and location
9/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great scenery and lovely food
We've been here twice and love the views! The food is artistically presented and white good. First time was perfection and second time good but not up to the standard of our first visit. Would definitely go again to see what happens more often. Consistency is key and for the price it should be the same every time. Still loved it though - a definite cut above your average place.

Amazing View, Better Food.
We visited this restaurant while on vacation in Vancouver. We planned on visiting Grouse Mountain anyway and noticed that your ticket is free with dinner reservations. We arrived early to take advantage of the tickets and had a great time. The food was the best I have ever eaten and the view from the restaurant was also amazing.
10/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
This is a great restaurant for a special occasion. First you take the gondola ride up through the clouds and then you get spoiled with the wonderfully scrumptious food. I highly recommend ordering dessert. You may think you're too full but the chef's dessert creations are so unique.

Up the mountain
Kind and friendly, Great food. The building the restaurant is riddled with dust, but the restaurant was clean! Great view on a clear night.
10/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
Stunning and delicious
Got a table by the window about 35 minutes before sunset. Clouds covered the city below, but we were above the clouds and it was a sight to behold. Food and wine were also very good, enough to make the place worth the trip even without the view. Putting the two together made it an ideal spot for date night.
10/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
Lovely experience to be eating dinner with friends at the top of the mountain. Service was excellent. Steak was outstanding. Great wine list....

My wife and I dined at The
My wife and I dined at The Observatory for her birthday and whether it was the weather or sheer luck, we were fortunate enough to have the entire place to ourselves! As a result, the service was even more attentive and amazing than it already is, the view was spectacular as usual and my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of the experience. The food deserves special mention of its own: my wife had a beautifully cooked sirloin steak, and I enjoyed a delicious entrée of sturgeon. It was a pleasure to enjoy the creative artistry and attention to detail employed by the chef and his team. I wholeheartedly recommend The Observatory to any and all who enjoy a fine meal!

By far a great choice
I took my partner to the observatory for our 1 year anniversary celebration dinner. It was by far a great choice for our occasion. The staff were amazing and extremely accommodating. Naturally everyone wants a window seat when it comes to the Observatory and of course there are only so many, but the staff made an extra effort to make sure that we had a window seat for our specIal occasion. Both myself and my partner were wow'ed by the food, service, and of course, the view. Overall a real 5 star experience for a price that did not destroy the budget!
11/9/2013 4:00:00 PM
My girlfriend and I celebrated our one year anniversary together at the Observatory and we have to say it was absolutely amazing! The whole feel of the restaurant really made quite the experience for those trying out a 5 star restaurant for the first time. The food was fantastic, service was great!

Drink was reasonably priced.
Drink was reasonably priced. 6$. Instead of over 10$
This is a big reason I will be returning. Did not feel ripped off
11/14/2013 4:00:00 PM
Great view on a clear night
The quality and presentation of the food was great but the portions were quite meager Having the lift to the top included makes it convenient Service was very good and as seats near the windows became available they would move you closer to enjoy the view

Observatory at Grouse is the Best
Fine dining at its best. Presentation and service were top notch. Highly recommended.

was great been up there about 8 times in last 30 years its always been great,
11/24/2013 4:00:00 PM
We came up to celebrate our anniversary and took advantage of the Peak of Christmas event.
The food was absolutely delicious. We had the crisp black cod and savoury soufflé for appy. Both were very good dishes. The black cod was one of the best we've had. We ordered smoked short ribs and the Sakura farm pork. The pork was SOO awesome. (The short ribs were pretty good too, but the pork was just outstanding!)
To finish, we shared the milk and honey dessert, which was a bit too sweet for our taste, but and a wonderful time. If only the waiteress could control the weather and make it not so foggy :) (a stunning view when the fog and clouds let up) Vancouver is so beautiful.
