Great view, good food
My husband and I stayed at the Marriott and ate dinner at Mala on a Saturday evening and the place was noticeably not very busy which was surprising. We shared a meal of soup, salad, steak and dessert. Everything that came out was absolutely delicious. Pierre, our server, was superb. Highly recommended! The biggest surprise to us was the bread wasn't free of charge and came with pats of butter that had to be unwrapped which was not exactly what I would expect in fine dining. There are free chips and dip presented when you are seated but we did not like the flavor or chips. Regardless, I would still recommend Mala.

The parking was a bit of a challenge, especially in the evening because the parking garage is so dark! BUT the food & service was excellent; the wine list was excellent. Truly a great experience.

Beautiful evening sunset dining
Beautiful evening sunset dining on an outside veranda. Food is good though not as great as price would suggest. Restaurant did not grant discounts (on two evenings) despite advising of coupons provided by the associated Marriott hotel except when challenged at hotel checkout

Chef Mark Ellman is an original Pacific Rim Cuisine chef. Food quality, preparation are always excellent. Service was friendly and attentive. There is something for everyone from fresh fish lovers (there is nothing better than fresh fish from Hawaiian waters)to ribs to gado gado and a kobe burger. My all time favorite is the Avalon Seared Ahi--I have probably had it 20 times over the past 25 years and it is still awesome. It would be hard to find a better sashimi grade of ahi. View of sunset is worth having an early dinner. Enjoy!

Menu Variety, Great View
Just came back from vaca in Wailea; this was a great option - not as super-high-priced as the super high end hotel restaurants AND more menu options - the view is lovely, the feeling is less intense and a bit more low-key- - everything was delicious, you can get can get formal trendy appetizers and entrees as well as a great kobe burger or pizza. Wonderful drinks. Not as pricey as the super high-end restaurants in this area (we ate at many of them) and pricing is much better. Nice to be able to get something a bit more casual instead of just the formal appetizer entree offerings. They have both. Would highly recommend.

Best Burger on Maui!!
Although this restaurant serves delicious menu items like fresh island fish, my husband and I go thete because thry serve the best Kobe
Burger on the island. The restaurant is quiet so you aren't overwhelmed with noise.
There is inside as well as patio seating where you can enjoy an ocean view.
All menu items have great presentation and are always delicious.

What a view!
We really enjoyed this restaurant. The waiter was informative and attentive. The dish he recommended was was really tasty. The location and view are unbeatable. How could one go wrong eating in Wailea?

Nice meal. Service was fast at times and slow at times.

Mala in a hotel?
Mala is a wonderful restaurant that has two locations, Lahaina and Wailea. The food is close to being the same however in Lahaina it's actually on the beach. It's a much smaller restaurant and has a cool island feel to it. In Wailea it's like eating at a hotel restaurant. It was very average. Yes, a beautiful sunset... but lacks the charm.

Excellent setting and food
Mala is a great place to dine while in Wialea. The view, service and food is outstanding. Filets was cooked perfectly and so was the fish, sides were tasty.

Truly Great Food
... And the device was fantastic as well. Knowledgeable staff helped to explore a great menu. Could not have asked for more. We will be back.

Not only was the food delicious but so was the view! Pricing keeps this as a special occasion spot for me.

Great Wailea Location
Mala Wailea may be the best location in Wailea for dinner. As always, a terrific table on the terrace for sunset. Gorgeous doesn't even cover it.. Great food for my vegetarian party and the service was perfect, not as intrusive as at some other restaurants in the area. The only knock is a stingy bartender. $20 plus for a shot of single malt is frustrating. Visit Longhi's for a more generous drink.

A night to remember!
My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful, romantic dinner on our honeymoon. They brought out 2 glasses of sparkling wine for us upon arrival for a toast making the start of our evening extra special. We were so full from all of the delicious food but took a piece of blueberry cheesecake to go. It was all excellent!

It was our first night in Maui, after a very long 24hrs from leaving Australia to finally getting into our room. We booked Mala as it was close to our room & the views looked lovely for our first night. We opted for the Prix Fixe Menu & we were not disappointed. The service was fast & the food was hot & tasty. Key lime pie for dessert was a highlight. Cocktails were also nice. Thankfully, tipping is added to the bill (something we're unfamiliar with as Aussies) but we did add a little extra as our waiter was very helpful & great with suggestions. Total cost at the end was quite expensive ($150 for two of us) but for our first night, we thought we'd splurge. Would recommend for a special occasion only. Oh, and the views were spectacular!!!!

We just moved to Wailea and wanted to try somewhere close for dinner to watch the sunset. The view was amazing!! The food was suitable for both children and foodies. There are many menu options. I am a vegetarian and I felt like I had plenty to choose from. The ingredients are all fresh and the salads and produce are from local farms. Our was very friendly and patient and her recommendations were spot on. I thought the prices were reasonable considering it is right on the ocean. I highly recommend this restaurant! We will definitely be back!

Dinner - Yes; Breakfast - ok
My wife and I had a wonderful dinner while on vacation. Fish was fresh and flavorful, service was very attentive, and atmosphere was very nice. A bit expensive but in line with other nice restaurants in the area. Would recommend to others looking for a nice dinner.
Also went for breakfast buffet - thought it was ok but nothing special. Had your typical breakfast buffet items (omelette station, waffles, pancakes, fruit and Danish selection, etc.). But can't say anything was real tasty - just ok. OJ seemed a little watered down, waffles and pancakes not a lot of flavor, and omelette station choices just your usual. Ok but nothing special.
Go for dinner but don't rush in for breakfast.

Wonderful MALA Experience
MALA restaurant sits as close to the ocean as you can get. We sat on the patio and listened to the waves as we looked out over the Marriott's impressive gardens. The service was impeccable. The staff was very attentive while not being obtrusive. The food was so, so fresh, and the chef married favors which surprised and pleased. MALA captured our idea of the essence and best of Wailea dining.

Always great food with fresh upcountry veggies. Dishes are creative. Good vegetarian options. Love the Patron Freshy's - will come just for that drink!

Delicious dinner and drinks at Mala
I was staying in the Marriott and decided to check out Mala for its convenience and the fact that they offer a few gluten free dishes.
I sat outside on the patio and started with a delicious daiquiri. For my meal I ordered the garlic cheese flatbread on a gluten free bread. It's a combo of feta, mozarella, and pecorino cheeses with garlic. It was spectacular!! I sometimes feel deprived of some of my favorite things as a person who has to eat gluten free, but not at Mala. I have missed cheesy garlic bread so much since going gluten free 1yr ago. This reminded me of a classier version of my favorite garlic bread. Loved it! Would definitely recommend Mala!

One of my favorites
The chef is creative. The ingredients are always fresh, mostly locally grown organic and consistently excellent. Highly recommended. I'm on Maui 35 years and a huge fan of Mark Ellman.
