Have been to Chaya Venice many times. Never disappointed with the food or service. I have always considered it one of my two favorite restaurants, along with Mastros Beverly Hills. Mastros has fallen off considerably; my girlfriend and I would rather come to Chaya now!!!!

Usually one of my favorite places
but they had a special BBQ and Beer menu for Father's Day. This meant a limited menu. While some of the choices were interesting, and all were new items we had never had before, they were not prepared to perfection the way Chaya's food is normally prepared. Many of the dishes we ordered were just a tad overcooked. I wish they had offered at least a couple of their typical dishes. It was my fault for not checking beforehand I guess.

The food and experience was so good we ate there two nights in a row - first time as a two-some then came back following night with friends. Also so great that they're open late - and easy walking distance to home.
Can't beat it.

The food and service were fantastic! We ordered the Peruvian salmon appetizer which was delicious. I had a caesar salad which was nothing out of the ordinary. My husband's arugula with strawberries and balsamic dressing was very good. The scallops wrapped in New York steak were amazing and just the right amount. The bread pudding made out of a croissant with dulce de leche ice cream on top was a great finisher! Only complaint was the music was a little too loud.

Consistently High Qualty Restaurant
We have been to Chaya Venice many times and never been disappointed. Their menu is varied, interesting and always well executed. Tuesday dinners are popular as they have bottles of wine for 1/2 price. Parking is validated and costs about $3.00.

Perfect California Beach Casual
Really good food, great drinks (Jalapeno margaritias highly recommended), nice wine list by the glass and great service in a classic California setting near the beach. Tried and true. We love it!

Excellent food, good service
Excellent food, small delay being seated even with reservations. Service was good but a little curt.

I took my date here and the place was really accomedating. Helped me look good in front of her too lol. The food was also excellent and the new orange cobbler is now a favorite. check this place out if you ever need good seafood or asian fusion in your life.

Great food and service
Wonderful place to dine, would love to come back!!

High-energy, great service, pricey
Located in Venice, this local gem attracts mainly young professionals (30s-40s). Vibrant bar scene with loud music. Could be good for a date although a tad loud. Service was impeccable. Dinner entrees are in the $30s. Expect to pay around $60+ for a meal. Food is ok, not amazing.

Great food, I like it a lot.
Great food, I like it a lot.
Service was not bad, but I just think the servant had some attitude, since we were just here for DineLA lunch. Cheap people. That's what he made me feel about ourselves. Maybe he was just not very happy that day. Anyways, hope he could look more friendly.

Still great after many years
Had not been there for a while - so was pleasantly surprised it was as good or better than I remembered
7/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
Lunch while on our "staycation" was awesome---if they ever take the Java Chicken Salad off of the menu I will break down and cry! Delicious as ever, and the service was excellent as usual. Cheers!

Chaya Venice: Good and loud...
It is always fun to have dinner at Chaya Venice. Every table is filled with attractive people, some really dressed-up,
chatting and sipping drinks and laughing and enjoying their meals. The food is always dependable, always good.
Service is a bit odd....in that two, three, maybe four people introduced themselves, took a portion of our order or gave
us menu's, then another would do the same thing. One waiter per table seems a better idea. And the place is truly
loud....glass walls to the street don't help baffle all the voices talking--shouting--at once. There's no way around the
sound on a full night. But It still seems worth it. We had a pretty good time, as usual.

Reminiscing on our First Date
My girlfriend and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary and we really enjoyed our time spent there. Our first date was at Chaya, so it was nice to return and reminisce.
8/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
Chaya is packed, and has been for years! Rightly so, as the food is fantastic, the service top - notch, and the ambiance enjoyable. Whether in for a quick happy hour drink, sushi, or a feast with a large table of friends, Chaya is sure to please. I'll be back soon!
8/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
Very fun and good!
Great food, fun atmosphere and an interesting menu.
8/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
The restaurant has it all. Great for all occasions. The energy makes you feel you are where the action is, the music, the view to the street. The menus offers all the choices. The chef gets it right every time. Whenever I am asked for a restaurant recommendation, Chaya is at the top of the list. My absolute favorite restaurant or bar. Recently in an internal company magazine I was asked for favorite places I'd recommend to a visitor to Los Angeles and Chaya was the favorite restaurant to visit. The service is outstanding.

Fresh Fish and Wines
I really enjoy this place.
The Sushi is usually pretty good (and sometimes awesome - mmm.. that Amberjack) and some of the dishes are awesome.
I've always done well with the soups of the day (curry lentil yumminess), Hamachi Collar that thankfully always seems on special, Brioche Bread Pudding, etc
The wines by the glass are always fun as well, offering some new jems to try and fall in love with.
Be careful about getting to the Happy Hour late - you probably won't find a seat!

From a regular
Chaya is one of our favorite dinner spots. The food is always excellent, the service very good, atmosphere lively and contemporary. The bar pours a very good drink. The sushi is always fresh and top-notch. It was my husband's birthday and I had requested a booth, but unfortunately they could not accomodate. While when in the booths surrounding the outside of the room the noice level is tolerable, in the middle of the room at a table, it is too noisy. I found it difficut to keep up a conversation, and I was hoarse when I left.

Was wonderful. Have not been here in quite sometime, but will definitely be back sooner. Every dish ordered by the four of us was delicious. Love the place.
8/31/2013 12:00:00 AM
Enjoyed the experience
I had not been to Chaya since 2001 and was curious if my experience today would be as good as my memory of the place. It was. Definitely worth a visit.
9/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
Very personable service - eclectic menu with our table enjoying assorted sushi and springs rolls to start through a delicious paella and on to perfectly prepared sea bass and peach cobbler crowned with lemon-vanilla gelato for a finishing touch - we've been before and will be back
9/8/2013 12:00:00 AM
Good but not truly great food.
Good but not truly great food. Wine list is limited and quite overpriced. Service was friendly and knowledgeable. Noise level was loud so that shouting was the only way to communicate, which means that the next couple of tables hear everything you say and visa versa.
9/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
Vibrant energetic and fabulous!!
Love this place. We celebrated my birthday with a great dinner. The menu has a variety of choices and everybody was happy. My kids had sushi and steak, and my husband had the black cod which was incredible. I had the seafood mix which included lobster, scallops and shrimp. All was perfectly prepared and presented. Service was wonderful! We love this place!!
9/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
Delicious sushi, especially the shrimp tempura roll. The pumpkin, corn soup was excellent too.
The waitress could have been a bit more attentive and could have smiled more often!! A fun place to celebrate a birthday.

Great wait staff and sushi
While we have always received a judgemental greeting from hostess stand, that may make you think, we do not actually feel welcome, move past and proceed in for the experience. Most of the wait staff has many years here and if you listen to their recommendations they will steer you to the best experience. They are full of personality and will make your overall experience if you let them. We had Josh wait on us this past visit and he made a birthday dinner one of the best.

Always good food
I have been to Chaya Venice many times. I went there for lunch this week and had the sushi omakase. The portion was I believe 9 pieces of sushi (9 different pieces) and a roll (either spicy tuna or california roll) - I was definitely full afterwards. The sushi and all the food at Chaya is always good. Lunch is not nearly as busy as dinner at Chaya, but both are good. There is half price wine night on Tuesdays by the way.
9/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
Nice mix of people at the
Nice mix of people at the restaurant and bar. We had not been here for several years, and found Chaya Venice to be better than we remembered, both in terms of food quality/variety, service and ambiance. We will be coming back more frequently.
9/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
Had not been to Chaya Venice in awhile. It still has great food and a vibrant bar scene, but it could use some updating. They were not ready for us even though we had a reservation and it was not crowded when we got there. Service was good but not fabulous. Food was excellent so overall a good experience.

Great space & good food
Despite the crowd waiting to get seated, our reservations were honored and we were seated on time. Nice space - comfortable, energetic but you can still carry on dinner conversation. Service was a bit slow at first as the place was pretty slammed but got better. Food was very good. I'll definitely go back..

Always feel welcome here
Chaya Venice is a special place.... Food is always fantastic, and the servers friendly and knowledgeable... It can be there busiest time and they treat you like you are there only table... Very consistent.
Food is always fresh and spectacular... Highly recommend.

An incredible dining experience!
The food at CHAYA is certainly exquisite and delicious but this review really needs to focus on the service.
For dinner, we had the black cod and the sea bass- both excellent. Our waiter, Jeffrey, really made the entire evening incredibly wonderful. He's charming, funny, engaging.... truly a professional.
Thank you, Jeffrey!

First time...and delighted!
We went for my wife's birthday....and had a terrific meal. Excellent food and service.....including "Happy Birthday" inscribed in chocolate sauce on our dessert plates! Nice touch.
Only issue...and this place is certainly not alone in this: Not everyone loves mushrooms! They needn't be in every other dish....the same holds true for truffle oil...yes it is au courant...yes it is trendy...yes it is hip....enough already. I will acknowledge your hipness without the mushrooms.
Sincerely, Michael Rothhaar

when you can't agree on what to eat
The good thing about Chaya is if you are craving sushi and sake and your dining companions are carb loading on pasta, or going vegan for the weekend, they do all of it really well.
The downside: it is pretty loud, as evidenced by a few (not one or two) mistakes our server made due to not being able to hear us. Back to the upside, he apologized with desserts on the house! (there's a reason the bread pudding has been on the menu since they opened. Yum)
The service was very accommodating, even when we were late for our reservation on a Fri eve (shame on us, yea for them!), they were very prompt and attentive , even at their peak busy time.

Love Chaya Venice.
I always feel welcomed and there are no bad tables. We sat up at the Sushi bar this time which was fun. Excellent, fresh sushi. Had a Uni handroll and and assortment of sushi. The winter miso (with clams) is superb. Love it there.

Many restaurants to choose from in Venice.
I was pleasantly surprised by the food and service.
Risotto, tuna tar tar and arugula salad were all worth mentioning!
Out table was comfortable and the service was on point.

Been dinning at Chaya for years... It's always good! Great food. Great service! And 50% off wine on Tuesdays!

My favorite spot on Main St.
Chaya is consistently good and has been for years. It is where I take out of town guests. Healthy choices, great wine list, hip crowd.
11/4/2013 4:00:00 PM
I dined at Chaya and was waited on by Nikki who is one of the main reasons I come here besides the food. She always has some great food and wine recommends and her service is always impeccable!

I like the look of the place great ambiance. Good selection of foods, great presentation and taste. I don't think anyone will be disappointed on their first visit.

Food and atmosphere were both enjoyable. Good for a night out with your significant other or a small group. Menu had something for everyone from simple eaters to adventurous foodies. Good for out of town guests who want to experience the "L.A." scene.

I love Chaya!
I've been to the Chaya in Beverly Hills and San Francisco as well. The menu and food are outstanding! I am never disappointed. Steak wrapped scallops? To die for. My only negative comment is that is very loud and the seating is so tight. Your conversations are not very private!
11/19/2013 4:00:00 PM
Special out of town guests were visiting, and I was worried about where to take them. I hadn't been to Chaya for about 10 years and hoped it was as good as I remembered. It was better! My guests raved about the food and ambiance, and vowed to return again soon. I was very, very happy with all Chaya had to offer.
11/20/2013 4:00:00 PM
I'm tall. 6'1 and I had on heels so. the table rested right on my thighs. I asked to be moved to a better table. I was told nothing was available. Other than that the food was delish. Had a great time.
