Great Customer Service!
My parents were celebrating their 52nd wedding anniversary and had JUST flown in from CA. They were tired and hungry and Emily and Juan made them welcome by greeting us and wishing them Happy Anniversary! Then Victor, our server, was very attentive and quick with the drinks. The surprise tres leches cake with sparkler at the end of the meal was especially nice and having Juan come over to speak to my Mom in Spanish with a sincere interest was the perfect ending to their long travel day! Love this place, and will always go back - but this night, they were especially spot on!!!

Serious Upscale Mexican in a Mall
The monthly festivals have been wonderful. First teh chili relleno, then the tamales, next the guacamole. Love this place. don't be fooled by the mall location, this is a serious restaurant!

It was pretty good Mexican.
It was pretty good Mexican. The tortilla soup was way too salty - had to send it back. Chips and salsa are outstanding. Corn soup was very good, though almost too sweet. Traditional margarita was much better than the top end margarita. I thought the Carnes Asada was very good, and wife thought the Chicken dish was outstanding.
Decor is upscale mall - thought it would be a little nicer ambiance. Waiter was very knowledgable, if a a little talkative.
We decided we'd probably be back, though it wasn't out of this world.

A surprisingly good meal
For some reason, I never really viewed this place as a top option when I dine in the Tysons Corner mall, but after a few meals there, I've got to say that I'm a convert. The food has always been very good, and the service always attentive. The ribs are a sleeper on the menu. You'd never think of a Mexican joint having good ribs, but they are some of the best in the area.

The dinner itself was great,
The dinner itself was great, and we had a very pleasant and accommodating server. However, we sat at the bar for a bit after dinner (around 9 pm), and were very surprised to see the bar staff cleaning the bar and basically shutting things down right in front of the patrons, during operating hours. This seemed odd to the both of us, with us both thinking that these activities should take place after hours. Hardly a way to encourage your guests to enjoy the bar area (and keep people around). The management really needs to rethink this...

A Cut Above Your Ordinary Mexican
La Sandia is a cut above your ordinary run-of-the-mill Mexican restaurant. Along with the normal Mexican dishes, the chef has created some great Latin American specialties such as his chorizo empanadas, which are to die for. This is not your normal TexMex restaurant and the food tends to be quite a bit more authentic. It could be a bit more spicy, however, but then I imagine that it has been toned down for the 'gringo' crowd. Service is fantastic.

My husband had the tamales and I had chicken mole poblano. Both were delicious and, thankfully, not hidden under a layer of cilantro (which we don't like.) The sangria rojo was delicious - if a little weak - but fine for a weeknight dinner with a drive home afterwards!

Always a fiesta
La Sandia's food never disappoints. Besides the always great 'made at the table' fresh guacamole they are always wiling and able to create our requested dishes, even if they are off the menu .
Love the ambiance, never had bad service

Best Guacamole in the area!
My wife and I often dine at La Sandia and the service and food are outstanding. The only thing that my wife noticed was that the menu had changed:( She loves seafood:)

We have gone to Sandia for mother's day 3 years in a row now and the only problem we have had was that we always order too much food!! Everything is good and it is hard to choose what to get. The guacamole is made to order right at the table and alone is worth the trip. The only downside this year was that there was no flan on the dessert menu. An otherwise perfect visit!!
5/11/2013 4:00:00 PM
La Sandia serves high-quality Mexican food from multiple regions. The flavors are unique and pleasing, and the guacamole rocks!

Always good !'
La Sandia is always consistent when I dine there and usually it's a group of us that come. The staff is always helpful and attentive. My server this who's name I didn't get was awesome he was on top of everything. Food always consistent. Only area I see they need improvement would be in the consistency of their mixed drinks they always seem different every time I go there. Overall great experience!!

The good was excellent. They have plenty of seating. Service was outstanding.

The guacomole with ceviche was easily the best part of the meal. The entrees were good, but the guacamole was a standout.

This is one of our favorite spots in the DMV! The mojito's are unbelievable, and before we knew it our group had downed two pitchers of their white sangria. We frequent often, and the drinks are ALWAYS spot on, and the food is EPIC, everything is authentic, the Guac is really good and everything we have tried has been yumtastic!

Salsa to die for!
Took my daughter to celebrate summer. The Salsa and chips they start you with are delicious! The chips are hot and the salsa smokey. Great! I followed with Pork Carnita tacos! Outstanding. My daughter loved the chicken tortilla soup. We will be back!

The Best in the Mall
it is so much happiness having your Friday or Saturday night out with friends or "honey" it is inside one of the most sophisticated shopping mall and district in the north east and a great hang out for young, business, college age and professionals, even grandma and grandpa will enjoy the scene.
La Sandia provides the fun, food and festivities all at once. the server and staff are warm and friendly and knows what you might enjoy depending on how you feel for the day, make sure you ask them.. Happy hour is fantastic, bring 20 of your friends & still show off paying the bill under $100, now that does not include the drinks. although, there are happy hour prices for beer & alcohol. must check & ask.

Decent food and fair service
The food was good. Portions are not huge but are decent. The main issue was the service. We has to ask for everything - refills, silverware, check. We just didn't find our server. For example, my entree came with a small bowl of soup, yet we didn't have a spoon. If you are at the mall it's a good place to grab a meal, but not worth a trip for that alone.

The guacamole we asked for
The guacamole we asked for was very good and the waitress brought warm tostitos without our having to ask for it. I did mention on my reservation that it was a birthday, but the waitress did not even offer dessert. I was surprised by that.

Great Mexican Food
Loved all the food. Fresh and tasty. Couldn't get enough of the chips and salsa. The guacamole was made fresh at the table and was awesome.

Booked a table for 10 for a birthday celebration and it was absolutely fantastic. The service provided to us by our waiter was outstanding as he was attentive and accommodating. The food was beautifully presented and seasoned perfectly. Our kids loved everything about the place and enjoyed the fun atmosphere, although I'd call it modern and chic as well. The hostess at the front entrance even made our night when she offered to take a bunch of photos of our entire group for us. We will be back! Thank you!

Despite its location in the
Despite its location in the "restaurant wing" of the Tyson's mall, it's still a pretty good restaurant. The food is good, they have a huge space so reservations are easy to get. It's not quite Mexican, but moreso East Coast "Spanish style food." Executed well though, my shrimp fajitas were good and pretty filling.

My coworkers & I were in VA on business. This place treated us wonderful, not to mention the food was amazing. I'd give kudos to the bar for the great happy hour specials & tasty margaritas! This certsig my new favorite!

Great Latin Light
The Latin Light menu was superb. One of had regular fajitas and the other the Light (no rice, tortilla, carbs). Same meat, same great flavor. The Light was better and better for you. We'll go back, Light all the way!

Fun on Friday Feasting with Friends
i just have to commend the receprionist for gracciously acknowledging me and my spouse everytime we visit and at times with our friends. They make us feel special and also knowing that we like dining "outside" Thei smiles are so welcoming it extends to that welcome as we sat and have our first bite with our "frre chips" and our first toasts.
the happy hour is a great idea, since we invite our friends most of the time and the drinks are very nice. the food is FABULOUS for night out with friends. WE ENJOYED IT THOROUGHLY!!!
the intention coming to La Sandia is to be with friends and family, at least for us, and to experience each other. The wonderful staff helped us with the fabulous experience.
Please keep up the great work-

Good Food at Good Prices
A friend I hadn't seen in a long time and I agreed to meet at La Sandia. We had a wonderful meal and the service was very good! We sat in the restaurant part (as opposed to the bar area) because it was a lot quieter. The bar area is extremely loud and I doubt anyone could really converse comfortably there. The margaritas could use a bit more "punch" (i.e. more tequila) and the guacamole was a fairly small portion (the appetizer), but other than that, no complaints!

One of the best restaurants I've ever been to. The wife loved it
10/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
My husband and I had brunch at La Sandia. We were the first ones in the restaurant. He ordered the Egg Scamble with shredded beef. although it was very tasty, he was disappointed that he couldn't taste the scrambled eggs. I ordered a mole dish with carnitas. The chef recommended the skirt steak with this mole selection, but I loved the carnitas selection. My only dieappointment was that there wasn't enough mole sauce on my dish. I loved the Guava Margarita!

Nice Friday Night Date
It was a nice casual friday night date. It was great for me because I like to watch my calorie intake and most of the items can be ordered with lettuce wraps instead of tortillas and the light margaritas we're awesome. The seating is a bit crowded, kind of like at a cheesecake factory when you feel like you're dining close to everyone.

Best Authentic Mexician Restuarant
I absolutely LOVE the food, service and atmosphere of this restaurant. The special menus they have doing the year are a real treat! Finding authentic Mexican cuisine is a real gem!

For a "mall restaurant" the food was very good. The patio area was fun to sit and people watch. We had a nice time and will return.
