Wonderful restaurant for lunch.
Wonderful restaurant for lunch. My friend and I shared the chopped salad and the fried chicken sandwich. Both were delicious. Next time I would like to try brunch.

The fava bean pasta was incredible! This is a very happening place, a little to noisy for me but it was fun!

This is one of my favorite
This is one of my favorite restaurants to go to after a long day at work. Great energy and ambiance, very helpful servers, great food & cocktails! I love their burger and order it almost every time I go!

Gem of dogpatch
I have been coming here since its beginning and it is my favorite spot in dogpatch! Deepak and his staff are always very attentive and sincere about each guest experience. Very warm and gracious environment. Great cocktails , very creative and inspiring. The chicken livers to die for! The rabbit three ways was incredible with the house made papperedelle wow!

Sunday Brunch - Great
Reservation honored right away. Menu offers very carefully thought out variety of choices. Loved my red flannel hash with two perfect poached eggs. My friends crab eggs Benedict good too, nice crisp and creamy home fries. Excellent Bloody Mary. Friend could chose a grapefruit or regular mimosa. Will go back to try other choices. Oh, price a bargin at $25 with drinks. In old industrial area the minimally modified warehouse was beautiful and relaxing.

A Sweet Brunch
My partner and I took my mother to Serpentine for Mother's Day. The brunch menu was a real treat and the unique plates such as Polenta and rabbit was pretty tasty. I had the brisket and crispy potatoes while my Mom had the fresh crab cakes. The bloody Mary was good and fresh (not some mix). Overall, it was a great experience and I would definitely take friends from out of town. I've been there numerous times prior to Mother's day. It remains as one of my neighborhood favorites and right across the street from Mr. and Mrs. Miscelleaous makes being in the area even better. Easy to find parking and great interior!

Great food and great staff!
This is our neighborhood place and we just love the food and people there. Everything is great on the menu!!

1. How many
1. How many restaurants are brave enough to serve chicken livers as a appetizer - they were great!
2. Five asparagus doesn't count as a side dish - that's a"garnish".
5/22/2013 4:00:00 PM
Tasty and interesting
I brought a couple of very picky and opinionated friends there for dinner and they just loved the food - varied, interesting, and tasty - it's super noisy but a very cool space - it's out of the way in Dog Patch - drive - there are no cabs
5/30/2013 12:00:00 AM

The last couple of times I
The last couple of times I ate at Serpentine I didn't have a reservation so couldn't leave feedback. I've had lunch, brunch, dinner and bar bites and been delighted with them all. The food here isn't fancy, but it's absolutely delicious. Everyone I've dealt with has been really nice and totally into local food and drinks.

<3 this place
When I'm craving good ole wholesome Californian food with high quality, sustainable ingredients, I come here. I can taste the love in the food. I am gluten, dairy, and egg intolerant. I've been a fan of Serpentine for awhile, even in my gluten/dairy/egg eating days. They make killer calamari, burgers, and frites. Drinks are great. Brunch is amazing! FINALLY THERE IS A RESTAURANT WHO KNOWS HOW TO MAKE A PROPER FRUIT BOWL. They use seasonal fruits, cut them fresh, and don't use melons. The service here is super friendly, and they are also extremely tolerant of the gluten, dairy, egg intolerant, which makes me happy. You won't feel like a glutard here. :)
7/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
Beautiful high ceilings match a chatty yet intimate ambiance with tons of natural light. Excellent coffee, appetizers, and filling yet still healthy main dishes. Splendid!
7/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
This was our fourth time at Serpentine and we love it. We like to bring friends and share this great find in the growing Dog Patch area of town. Service is friendly and attentive. Food never disappoints. Burgers, Chicken, Pasta...all really good. They don't have a big selection of wine by the glass but the ones they do offer have been thoughtfully selected. Good selection of beer as well. Parking is easy.
7/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great cocktails and food!
Perfect for a Saturday night...casual and trendy but not too crowded. The cocktails were amazing and we ordered 5...all different ones. Will definitely back for brunch.

Serpentine for Brunch
Serpentine is a true neighborhood gem. My husband and I have been for both dinner and brunch just the two of us, dinner with visiting guests/family, and for brunch with friends. We've never been disappointed. The brunch offerings are delicious. The baked eggs over beans, squash, and mushrooms are great, as is the fried egg sandwich, and polenta dish. I've also enjoyed the mixed greens with grilled chicken breast. Everything had wonderful flavor and perfectly seasoned. My friend ordered the croque-monsieur "madame" style (with an egg on top) and had no complaints. The service is always friendly and attentive.
7/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
Everyone liked the food but the portions were really small. All adults were all still hungry after our entrees, the kids were fine. Nice service and venue.
7/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great food but...
We would highly recumbent the food especially the chicken livers - delish. Also ask to be seated in Tommy's section, he was fantastic. Our first waitress basically forgot about us and then Tommy stepped in and was great. Also some of the tables could use a little more light to see the menu and food. Will definitely be back though.
7/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
Exceptional food, good ambiance
My favorite restaurant in the city, three years and running, was Foreign Cinema. But I think this is my new favorite! The food was fantastic, but what really set it apart for me was the intimate ambiance. We were in a booth that felt very private, and could have a quiet conversation without struggling to hear each other. It seems like a lot of the exceptional restaurants in the city for food miss this element.
I'm pretty sure their menu changes frequently, but I had the scallops on top of a creamed corn (heavenly, and so fresh), mariposa plum tart with ice cream for dessert (so good!). We ordered the pork rib starter and that was also fantastic. I'd highly recommend all 3.
Also, easy to park nearby.
7/30/2013 12:00:00 AM
My 3rd visit and I will be back again. A great menu, couldn't decide on salmon or a burger. Had to go with one the the best burgers in town... And of course, started off with a wonderful calamari appetizer. Outstanding cocktails too.
8/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great all around
Fantastic food, great atmosphere. Seasoning was perfect on everything. Loved The Stalker cocktail and shaved summer vegetable salad. Will be back to try more options soon.
8/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
Amazing all around. Wonderful food, amazing service and a damn handsome head chef.

Serpentine is an unpretentious
Serpentine is an unpretentious little gem in Dogpatch. Sometimes it's difficult to get reservations, but when you do, you can look forward to the following:
Amazing corn chowder
Light fluffy gnocchi
scallops to die for
sneaky birthday dessert
8/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
First time, will go back!
We had the pickled veggies, the yogurt honey sauce was incredible! We had scallops and burger, both amazing!
8/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
Worthy of the considerable hype ...
Dinner was excellent. The space is cool, the staff was friendly and attentive.
Every course was delicious.
My favorite was the UNBELIEVABLE lemon buttermilk cake for dessert. It was out of this world.
I will go back. Many times.
8/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
Manhattans were ordered right away. We ordered oysters- fresh and amazing. The stone fruit salad was delicate and sweet with nectarines and hazelnuts. The Indian spiced ribs are a must! Lovely and wanted more. We ordered the duck plate and seared scallops to share- YUM!!! The duck was leg and thigh and fell off the bone. Paired with root veggies, I was stoked. My friend had the scallops on a bed of truffled polenta that made me swoon. Along this plight we had The Acadian cocktail that was spicy and complimented the duck. My friend ordered a Sauv blanc that was outstanding. To end the meal I highly suggest the lemon cake and an espresso made to perfection.
8/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
Fantastic food and crazy fast
We were starving when we arrived, and couldn't believe how quickly our orders came through! The food was delicious, even the calamari was very uniquely prepared...we were just thrilled. Can't wait to go back!
9/3/2013 12:00:00 AM
The second time around
...is better than the first! The first time was good, but this place gets better! The Acadian was perfect again. My friend had Monice's shrine to which I will have next time. Spiced ribs and fries to start-bomb pairing. The hanger steak is a rich tender dishwith smokey notes. The pasta wild nettle tagliatelle was perfection - decadent. Buttermilk lemon cake with blueberry sauce is lovely!
9/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great food & drinks
We went there for a joint birthday dinner party with some friends. I liked the atmosphere and the food was great. You can tell that everything is made fresh. I got Monice's shrine, a cocktail with gin and grapefruit, and that was also delicious. The only downside was that as the evening got darker, so did the restaurant. We could barely see what we were eating. I understand that the dim lighting is for atmospheric purposes, but it sure would help to be able to enjoy the aesthetic of our food!
9/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great place in the Dogpatch
I've eaten at Serpentine about 8-10 times at this point. Several times for dinner, a couple for brunch and a couple for weekday lunch. They have a small but imaginative menu of things that are creative and delicious. Some nice cocktails as well. I've gone there for work dinners and the service is always great and the range of choices suits a party of 5-8 people well (enough variety but without making the process of ordering take forever). Brunch is another bright spot, especially the red flannel hash. They also have a great burger and I recently tried their spicy veggie burger, which was tasty as well.
9/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
Loved the food - savory bread
Loved the food - savory bread pudding was really great.
The place is lovely, but the noise level is far too loud!
9/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
Menu, lovely. Nearly impossible to narrow it down and I got more than I could eat simply because I wanted to try everything!
Food, delicious and beautiful. Next time I'm back will I order the same thing, or venture from what was absolutely the most delicious gnocchi I've ever had?
Service, friendly and sufficient. Rushed even though there was not going to be a table after us, and really, just poor timing. This little city is too full of great food with stellar service to make me feel obliged to tip well for self righteous wait staff. And I come from being a waiter myself. Made the difference between a $26 and a $40 tip.

first time here, in an industrial area, but is a gem. The food was great, I had the cod with vegetables which was fantastic. I will definitely go back if I'm in the area.
10/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
Good experience in general
Had to wait a while for the waiter to attend to you. But the food was really good and the service as well - they are very friendly. And the queue isn't that long for brunch visits (I went there around 11.15am)

A Great Meal Out
We had a friend in from out of town -- though she used to live here -- and wanted to take her to a really nice place that was still reasonable in price with delicious food and a good atmosphere. Serpentine was perfect. We all had fabulous drinks from the drinks list and the food was outstanding. A good variety of flavors but a very cohesive meal -- the Roasted Delicata Squash Salad was amazing! They were kind enough to be able to accommodate a request that we have a table where we could more easily talk, so it was ideal. The wait staff was excellent and attentive yet easy going in a really good way. Just a great evening out with wonderful food.
10/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
Delicious and fun
Service was excellent, food was delicious, and drinks were fabulous.

Our "go-to" spot
We love Serpentine. The food is consistently great, the cocktails are creative and well crafted, and the environment is cool yet unassuming. We love the funky, converted industrial space feel. (One note: the dining area can feel a bit cramped and many of the tables are close together, so don't go here expecting a private dining experience).
We've been here 4-5 times in the past 2 years and we've never been disappointed. It's our "go-to" spot in SF. You should also check out their sister restaurant: Slow Club
10/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
A cornerstone of the Dog Patch, Serpentine is consistent and not too crowded (for whatever reason). If you feel like getting high quality food at a reasonable price without the hype, come here.
10/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
As always, the crowd pleaser
Serpentine is a fabulous spot if you're pulling a group together for brunch. Our group had an infant and they had no trouble accommodating us, even providing a tucked away spot so we were aside from other diners. The food was fantastic, too. Thumbs up, once again!

Serpentine Brunch Happiness
I made a reservation two weeks out for a Sunday brunch, party of 6. We were running late, but the restaurant was very kind and accommdating for our party. We got the cozy booth near the bar seating, giving us room to talk away from others. The bloody mary as well as my favorite, Monice's Shrine--a cockatail of gin, elderflower liquer, grapefruit juice and champagne. The Cured Salmon Benedict offered sharp yet delicate zing of a thinly sliced and crispy friend meyer lemon garnish that tops the Benny. The baked eggs were both rich tasting and refined. The country-fried steak and eggs were yummy, although we'd prefer the eggs over easy rather than scrambled. All in all a very happy birthday brunch. Thanks Serpentine!

One of my favorite restaurants.
One of my favorite restaurants. A hot spot in the dogpatch district. The food is consistently excellent. Service is always great. Cocktails are outstanding. A true gem!

SF for visitors
For foreign visitors in town for biotech business in So. SF, Serpentine was a quick drive away and a quintessential SF experience. They loved every aspect: ambience, food, mixed drinks.
11/3/2013 4:00:00 PM
My first time at Serpentine after hearing so much about it. The food was really nice and made in such a way that the dishes were about each item and not covering with sauce or too much, but allowing the natural flavors to be tasted. The pickled veggies were a bit firmer than I would prefer and they should be more bite size since cutting is quite difficult without the proper utensils. The calamari was fresh and very tasty. Mains and desert were also really nice and very well portioned. Hand crafted drinks top it off and make for a custom experience vs. a generic one. Service was a bit hap-hazard but didn't affect the overall evening. Looking forward to going back!

Another great evening at Serpentine
Serpentine is exceeding expectations as this was my 4th visit. The service Monday evening was on par with my other visits to Serpentine. Every staff member we encountered was professional, warm and welcoming.
11/10/2013 4:00:00 PM
Our food was outstanding, our waitress was lovely and overall we had a super time.

Superlative at Serpentine
My wife and I had a terrific dinner. We began with an apple salad and oysters, both excellent.
My main was a swordfish dish with couscous and roasted vegetables that was just delightful.
My wife had a "taliatelle with nettles" dish that, although I had poked fun at how it sounded
on the menu, she really enjoyed it. We finished with a spiced chocolate cake and
fruit upside down cake that were also wonderful.

perfect birthday dinner spot
we celebrated my mother-in-law's 70th birthday with a group of 11, including two kids. it couldn't have gone better. the food exceeded my expectations (SF foodie). the service was attentive but comfortable (not obsequious). the soft candlelit ambiance was superb. the vibe felt hip and warm and fun. we ordered a variety of starters and entrees and everything was truly great -- not overly precious. good portions. good flavor combos. yet straightforward (how i like it). the desserts were truly outstanding, though. every one was special (the lemon cake was especially superb, as was the apple cranberry tart, which was done less sweet and more fruit-forward in the european style). they did the candle thing without me asking. all in all, perfect.
