Very nice restaurant for special
Very nice restaurant for special occasions or if just wanting a great steak. All entrees and sides were very delicious and very hot. No complaints here.

Excellent food, excellent service!
Great food! This is about the only place in Birmingham that has ever gotten my wife's steak right. The ribeye was flavorful, cooked medium rare, and the garlic mashed potatoes were creamy with just a hint of garlic. My wife had a filet with blue cheese crumbles that added an extra zing to her steak, and we enjoyed the seasoned vegetables. The lobster tail was firm but not tough, and was very flavorful. One thing to remember...the sides are easily enough for two to share. We finished our meal with a cappuccino and coffee, and topped that off with the chocolate sin dessert. Aptly named, served with seasonal berries...to die for! Maddie, our server, was unobtrusive but attentive, and made our 20th wedding anniversary a complete pleasure.

Great for special occasions
The service, and ambience are great here. If I have a complaint it would be that the quality of the food, while very good, is not commensurate with the price point. I have had as good or better steaks in the Birmingham area for far less money. (Actually, the very best steak I've eaten in Alabama was in Jasper at Black Rock Bistro). I also balk at having to pay such exorbitant prices for (such small) side orders. The bottom line: the bang/buck ratio at Ruth's Chris is not optimal. For that reason, I rarely go there.

It was ok this time.
My wife and I enjoyed another Anniversary at Ruth's Chris. Our food was just as good as always and the service was very good. Our only grip was the water bugs crawling around in the atrium dinning area. I do believe its due to the garden like atmosphere. But we still had a great time.

Birmingham Ruth Chis Steak House
Consistent with other Ruth Chris Restaurants. Birmingham does no offer many good high end restaurants. This is a safe pick.

Always a favorite.
I don't think we have ever had a bad meal at Ruth's Chris! We always get our own salad and split the filet. The steak will melt in your mouth! The mushrooms are delicious. The atmosphere is nice and you can always hear each other speak. Love this place and they are open 7 nights a week!

As expected food was excellent;
As expected food was excellent; service not so much. Before meal, I gave server, "Paul" my card to cover the meal for us and our guests. He brought the check to the table and handed it to one of my guests. Thinking he was handling the bill as I had asked, I said nothing. When he brought it back, he had charged my friend's card. I asked "Paul" what he intended to do with my card I had given him previously, and strongly insist that he go back and do as I had asked. He finally corrected the error, but only after my guest had seen the amount of the check. (over $400.00). That was one of the mistakes, including getting a couple of orders wrong. For the prices at Ruth's Chris, the service should be exceptional.

Always Consistently Good Food
Birthday Celebration and this restaurant always delivers good quality food, attentative service and a very pleasant experience. Steaks are always cooked to perfection, sides are generous enough to share, and the various appetizers such as Crabtini and the fried oysters are fresh and amazing. Love the Blackberry cobbler with ice cream that is available currently

Did not disappoint
So I read a number of negative reviews here at OpenTable before dining. Before this dinner, I tended to agree with most of the negative reviews based on prior experience.
However, this visit was really good. Your server is going to call you Mr/Mrs/Ms So and So. It's neither obnoxious nor endearing, but it's going to happen. I had the 9 oz filet Med Rare and my wife had the 6 oz filet Med Well. They asked if they could butterfly hers. She agreed, but indicated the next time she'd order medium so that they didn't butterfly it. The meat quality was excellent, but the steak seemed to be a little short on salt. But not salty enough is preferable to too salty. Potatoes au gratin were excellent.
Save room for the blackberry cobbler.

Wine n Dine
Love the quiet and romantic vibe. My porterhouse was seasoned and cooked to perfection. My special requests was delivered just as asked. I received fast and friendly service. Dining indoors with the feel of being outdoors with the trees and ponds made the evening more exciting.

Unlike most places that grill there meat, Ruth's Chris' broils it in an 1800 degree oven that keeps it hot until the last bite. One of the best steaks I've ever had.

After a Thanksgiving meal, it was nice that Ruth's Chris had a Black Friday special allowing us to enjoy the flavors of the filet. Everything was perfect except one issue we had was gnats were flying everywhere and we felt as if we were having a picnic outside. That is the only complaint. The wait staff and food were off the charts. We will be back particularly if you have a special every now and then like you did Black Friday.

If you love traditional steak house
Ruth's Chris still does what it does very well. Steak and traditional sides are excellent. Perfect steaks. Perfect potatoes. Nice evening.
