Really tasty food. My husband
Really tasty food. My husband loved his beef cheeks and I enjoyed my halibut. Nice portions size. Good wait staff.

Just Good Food
This is the 3rd time I have been here, and with the exception of the fried green beens (a must order), you get to experience a completely new and seasonal menu. While I prefer my tune seared, everything was as tasty as can be. The porkbelly appetizer almost made me cry. All of the liquor they serve is small batch which allows you to try new things in your favorite cocktails.

Top-notch wait staff
I brought a friend from out of town as well as a friend who had walked past the restaurant dozens of times and never noticed it. Both were impressed. Our waiter was amazing. I don't remember his name but he had a vast knowledge of Alsatian wines and made great suggestions for us. My friends loved him. Everything he suggested was a winner and all items were served promptly and hot. A winner!

It was great, the group all
It was great, the group all loved their food and drinks. Our waiter could not have been nicer. Would for sure go back.

Earned a spot on our favorites list
Our third time at COCO500 was definitely the charm. Our two previous dining experiences were very good; this visit was exceptional.

The halibut ceviche was perfect! And the mustard greens with tofu was delicious and unique. Perfect with a crisp rose. Loved it!

Benicia Babe Reviews
This is truly a SoMa find. I was surprised at how vibrant the neighborhood was. The waiters were attentive and did a great job. The menu was kind of odd - pizza and beef cheek both on it - but perfect for the crowd they attract; everyone from 28 year olds to 70 year olds. Great place. Great cocktail menu!

Great Lunch before Giants' Game
We were thrilled to find Coco's open for weekday lunch. It is a great option to all the other sports focused spots near the stadium. There zucchini flower flat bread is a stand-out and they have excellent wines by the glass.

Great food and service!
Definitely a repeat restaurant! We went with a big group and our server was attentive, gave great recommendations and was extremely friendly. The service made up for the fact that the restaurant itself was pretty quiet! Highly recommend the green beans and squid on the menu. The cocktails were some of the best we'd ever had.

Go here now
The food is exceptional. Someone recommended it, and I had my first dine... everything we had was to die for. From oysters to apps to the fresh pizzas and pastas, each dish was perfect - seasoning, portions, textures, everything. The bar is meticulously stocked with hand-selected craft liquors and vintages. This spot is great for foodies, for meat-eaters and vegetarians, for dates, friend reunions or client meetings. If it's after about 7, make sure to make a reservation!

We're "regulars" at Coco, as it is a short walk from our home. We thought it had slipped a bit late in '12, but our experience on Saturday night was superb. The special drinks we ordered were perfect. The food, creative, interesting, and delicious. And the service was truly outstanding. It's sooo good to see that they are back on the top of their game.

It was so great to have an easy time to get into this sweet and delightful local restaurant.

Good food, amazing dessert
Food was very good to excellent. I had the local rock cod with lentils, cooked perfectly although just a little salty. My friend had the goat cheese pizza which was very good too. The chocolate vacherin dessert was amazing, a big ball of coffee ice cream, smothered in chocolate sauce and toasted almonds! One of the best chocolate desserts ever.

I would highly recommend Coco
I would highly recommend Coco 500. The food was delicious and varied. There were enough good choices so that we did not feel we exhausted the menu options despite the fact that we probably ordered 7 or 8 different dishes. The service was friendly and attentive. We have already made our next reservation.

The pork belly appetiser was
The pork belly appetiser was wonderful, with a slightly acidic broth with great citris tones to cut through the fattiness of the pork belly, excellent. Followed by the beef cheeks main course. A different interpretation on beef cheeks, as they were coated in a breading, this gave a nice juxtaposition between the tender beef and the slightly crispy coating accompanied by a tangy horseradish cream sauce. Definitely a place we will return.

Great neighborhood spot
Perfect place for Friday happy hour or dinner after shopping at the marts. Food was great but wine list was very pricey.
7/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
Had been meaning to try this place for years, now I'm going to be a regular. All the "signature dishes" were superb. The fried green beans, beef cheeks, lasagna, all as good as I'd heard. Also loved the steamed clams with bacon and red peppers, tagliatelle with shrimp and the special that night, soft shell crab. Truly wasn't a less-than-excellent bite all night, and that's a rarity, even in the best restaurants. Service was friendly and responsive. We'll be back again soon.

Yummy Drinks and Pasta
COCO500 has much to offer. The drink are worthy of the best gastropub and pastas are freshly made.

The food at Coco 500 is very original in concept and delicious in taste. Service was good until dessert when the pace was slowed. I would recommend the restaurant highly and plan to return.

Italian with a twist
All the ingredients were delectible! Gnocchi with scallops was lovely, two of my friends had the tagliatelle with pork red sauce, they both enjoyed and were really full. Other friend had beef cheek with watercress salad. Beef cheek was breaded and tender. Lovely spot to dine. Reservations are highly encouraged!

interesting menu, varied choices, consistently good...and the parking is easy when the Giants are not in town...

Last night in SF
A wonderful last dinner in San Francisco before heading back to NY. The tagliatelle was delicious and the wine list was varied (and very good). specialty drinks were tasty and the ambiance was vibrant. There was not one thing amiss with our dining experience and we will definitely return next time we're on the West Coast.

We went here for a birthday celebration and could not have been more pleased with the menu and the quality of our selections. Amazing food!
The service was unobtrusive but attentive from the moment we arrived, through pre-dinner drink, dinner & impromptu candles from the staff!
My only fair rating is in relation to the ambience, the restaurant is quite tired, it needs a bit of a refresh. It almost came across as having very little character until the darkness hit and the lighting did it's magic...ambience. So just a note for earlier dinner bookings.
8/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
Hip spot, awesome food!
We had a great experience at Coco500 and would definitely go back. The service was friendly, food was awesome, and the prices were reasonable. The only thing I might change is that the tables were a little too close together, which made me feel awfully "intrusive" to neighboring meals when standing up or sitting down.
8/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
The gnocchi with scallops
The gnocchi with scallops was outstanding, Thought the cauliflower soup was overwhelmed by the chili oil. Dessert, buttermilk panna cotta, was beautiful and delicious. Service was good; very hard to hear waitress describe the specials with the ambient noise. Excellent meal, but the ambience of a pre-game Giants crowd not ideal for a special dinner.
8/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
SOM Lunch spot.
We went to Coco500 for lunch on a Friday. No problem with street parking. Tables were very close together which added to the high noise level. We enjoyed small plate/ appetizers: deep fried beans were fresh with a light batter, sizzling shrimp were served in a lightly spiced hot oil. The tomato and goat cheese pizza had a crispy thin crust. The signature coco500 cocktail is refreshing with a good balance of mint and lime.
8/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
We eat out regularly all over the city, trying the newest and highly rated places, but COCO remains our favorite. Creative menu, not your usual wine list either. Highly recommend.

I ordered some of Michael
I ordered some of Michael Bauer's favorites and had an outstanding lunch! Thankfully the beer battered deep-fried green beans with seasoned aioli dipping sauce are back on the lunch menu, so I was able to have them along with the incomparable squash blossom flatbread. For dessert, I had the vacherin - a disk of meringue on creme anglaise topped with espresso ice cream over which chocolate sauce is poured. This creation is then sprinkled with thinly sliced toasted almonds. It's even better than it sounds! Can't wait to go back.

Really interesting combinations,
Really interesting combinations, really great service, It is small and one noisy group can make a difference. Lovely time and would recommend to anyone looking for a really fine dinner. Interesting cocktails too

Rediscovered this neighborhood gem
I hadn't been to Coco 500 in over a year, even though it is in my neighborhood. I wondered why it had taken me so long. I will definitely return. Everything we ate was quite tasty. The quinoia salad, the radishes, the egg with roe was amazing, the trout was delicious. The desserts are great. We had the peanut butter cups, though I really wanted the chocolate frozen banana. The chef has always been good, and I am sorry we have neglected her. I look forward to returning very soon.

A Great Restaurant
This was our 5th or 6th visit to COCO500 and it was just as wonderful each time. The food is interesting and the choices change regularly. There were 4 of us and we each had a different starter and entree and all of them were delicious. We had a stroller
and the waiter was extremely gracious about accommodating us.

Very good food and low key
Really good food, that was somewhat out of the ordinary...such as uni and mussel bruschetta. Our server was pleasant, but not remarkable. The host on the other hand was. When I first walked in with my luggage, he quickly offered to store it in a safe place so it wasn't in my way while dining. I thought that was super considerate and appreciated it. I also liked that it felt non-pretentious despite the good food. Overall a very nice experience! I'd eat there again!
9/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
Had a great experience here! I had the steak and it was on point! Great wine, quick service, very friendly and informed staff .
Pricier than I expected but it seems most places like this have been lately..

5-star food, reasonably priced
Late Sat night res, nice ambience. Waitress knowledgeable, cared about us & the food, knew the wines. Food nothing less than spectacular! Started with uni/squid bruschetta, bursting with flavor. Next a squash blossom flatbread, tasty and crunchy, not heavy; then an amazing, perfect-textured ricotta agnolotti with fantastic fresh corn and little Japanese mushrooms (shimeji?) with broth my wife and I fought over. Side dish a wonderful surprise, broccolini in smashed tofu with lemon - tender and tasty. Finished with dessert of dark chocolate sauce over coffee ice cream on meringue covered with toasted almonds. Including 2 glasses of very nice wine, we left stuffed and all this for $93. Lots of places to spend twice that and not half as good.

So delish--love the fried green beans, flat bread and beef cheeks. Yummy & generous desserts to share--chocolate & the roasted plums. Our server did not raise her voice enough for us to hear her, that was annoying.

Food was delicious! Staff
Food was delicious! Staff were professional. Drinks were really great. Would definitely go again.
9/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
consistantly great food and fun
Our party tried some favorites, squash blossom truffle oil flatbread from the wood burning oven, housemade pate, tripe, and beef cheeks. All were delicious. The swordfish special was fantasic. We all had to have Vacherin -best dessert in SF- and biscotti and espresso.
We never get tired of Loretta's wonderful food. I've been a fan since the 80's.

3rd time here
Each time we go to Coco500 it’s a pleasure. we automatically order the squash blossom flatbread and the fried green beans. The menu changes frequently utilizing local seasonal food. Tomato gezpacho was amazing, deserts are delicious, we had a meringue with chocolate gelato and creme anglaise with thin sliced almonds. Amazing. Drinks are great too. Nice wine selection and by the glass as well.
We had the pleasure of meeting the owner on one visit and she is very nice and personable and an amazing chef as well.
Great place for an adventurous dinner about 10 minutes or so by taxi from Union Square.

Overall we enjoyed our meal
Overall we enjoyed our meal here. There was a glitch when they brought us a wrong wine. We got the duck pate crostini as an appetizer and although I loved it, my husband found the mustard on it too sharp. I had the swordfish and it was excellent. My husband had the beef cheek, but the horseradish sauce was a bit overpowering. We would have stayed to try their desserts, but not one, not two, but THREE other patrons had on so much perfume, it ran us out of the restaurant and the scents followed us out the door. What a pity, some people have no concept that their fondness of perfume can bother other people.

best lunch in SOMA
You cannot do better than lunch at COCO500! A delicious and delightful discovery in the midst of the SOMA desert. Best of local inredients, imagination in preparation and presentation, personal attention way beyond the norm and you are off to a great lunch with friends, clients, or for spcecial occasions. Can't tell you how many recruiting efforts, team celebrations, or client contacts have been concluded successfully over lunch at COCO.
Dont miss the flatbread, the vegetarian lasagna, the daily salad or fish special, the ceviche or for a shared dessert the Vacherin!

Lunch was fabulous as usual..
Lunch was fabulous as usual.. Started with the signature batter-fried green beans with wonderful dipping sauce. Followed this with the BLT. The Coco 500 version was enhanced by the addition of avocado and and spicy aioli -- delicious. For dessert, I chose what I always have -- bittersweet chocolate vacherin. Coco 500 is like both Zuni and Boulevard in that it's been around for awhile, but continues to be outstanding.

A must try
Coco500 has it all! The ambiance is welcoming and chic, the food delicious, and the wait staff attentive and friendly. This is a restaurant that you'll leave wanting to go back again and again.
10/3/2013 12:00:00 AM
My husband and I went to Coco500 with another couple and had a blast. Great energy, fantastic food. The batter fried green beans and Gorgonzola flat bread were to die for!
10/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
Simple dishes cooked perfectly.
We had the steak and the trout. Both were perfectly cooked without elaborate sauces that just drown the true flavor of the ingredients. The quality of the meat and the fish, as well as the fresh side veggies was great. Portions are decent - not huge, requiring a doggie bag, but not so small that one feels insulted. The gelatos were delicious and the apperitif list original. Definitely worth returning.

Great High End Comfort Food
Can't say enough about the Green beans, a must have for sure! The Beef cheek was delicious, but nothing looked bad at all!
10/8/2013 12:00:00 AM
A two-minute walk from our office, Coco500 is our go-to restaurant for eating in, taking out, from two to 10 people.
I have eaten the green beans with dipping sauce and the truffled flatbread so many times and they always satisfy.
The burgers with house-made chips are excellent.

Food at Coco 500 was excellent
Food at Coco 500 was excellent - original, varied and changing from our last visit. The seating is comfortable and the service is attentive. I would recommend the restaurant without qualification.
11/1/2013 5:00:00 PM
Our table was sticky--the waiter claimed that a refinishing job went awry, but other than that, which was not a problem really, our experience was delightful. As always. The food ---all of it--was great. We started with the fried green beans and a burrata flat bread which were tasty and crispy good. Beef cheeks and the 2 mushroom duck lasagnas followed, all excellent. The food is roasty-tasty- wonderful at Coco. We shall be back. Again!!!

Coco 500 has a wonderful range
Coco 500 has a wonderful range of dishes that are terrific for sharing and ever so tasty. The fried green beans, mole tacos, truffled mushroom flatbread and a fantastic New York strip with arugula, perfectly cooked and sliced for sharing are all absolute must haves. For dessert, Coco's offers the best dish on on the planet--the vacheron--a large ball of espresso ice cream resting on a crisp meringue smothered with a decadent chocolate sauce and creme Anglais and topped with toasted slivered almonds. It's utterly Devine. Coco 500 always delivers a memorable dining experience with friends or family--great food, superior service, and very reasonable prices.
