New Yorker Newbies
I love taking people to the New Yorker that have not been there...
They are always impressed with everything there... From the
valet service, food, food service, and the ambience of the room. The reputation always has follow through..

Not a bad place to celebrate
Not a bad place to celebrate some event with your wife. Food was tasty and has quite a good wine list. I was last there 30 years ago but was very pleased with the lunch we had.

The service, hospitality of staff and ambiance were great. My husband's entre' was spectacular, he enjoyed roasted pork shank. I ordered rigatoni with wild boar bolonese. The wild boar meat was very tough and I believe prepared too well done. Other than that, dinner was thoroughly enjoyable.

The wine list is pricey and
The wine list is pricey and lacking wines for seafood dinners. They need to add Muscadet and Albarino grape wines at a minimum. Also reducing the wine pricing to two times retail would be appreciated.
It's still one of my go-to restauranrs.

A suitable celebration
Went here to celebrate my wife's getting her masters in OT. Staff went out of the way to congratulate her, having all signed a card. All in all, an outstanding dining experience.

I was looking for a special evening to impress that new lady... She wanted to go to the theater... and adding the New Yorker just topped off the evening perfectly. She was really impressed. The attention, food and service were superb. Shuttle to the theater was a nice touch as well.

Ending of a Perfect Day
The New Yorker restaurant was the perfect way to the romantic day I had planned. Upon entering we were pleasantly greeted and promptly lead to our table. The ambiance was amazing and added to the classic feel of the building. The only diversion from the perfection of the setting would be the slight discomfort from the heat in the building. This was quickly forgotten as our chicken liver pate and drinks arrived. This was the launch of an exceptional meal that will forever be on my list of favorite experiences. The young gentleman who served us, while seeming slightly insecure, was one of the best waiters I have ever had. The New Yorker will be my new benchmark from which I grade all my future dining experiences.

Beautiful restaurant, great service from entrance to exit! Great food!!! The crab and artichoke dip was made with pretty much just crab and artichokes, lots of crab! The Wild Boar pasta was delicious!!! Really enjoyed the meal!

Small table, Obnoxious Waiter
We made reservations for 3 people around 6pm. We got there and there were only three ladies in the whole restaurant. The table they sat us at was set for three but you could barely fit an appetizer and three plates on the table without rearranging all the glasses to make everything fit. There were plenty of other tables set for 4 that no one sat at while we were there. Two other families showed up but there was plenty of room where we could've sat comfortably. Our waiter was great but the other waiter waiting on a table for 7 thought he had to be the life of the party and was loud and obnoxious. He was very disruptive to the rest of the families that were there.

This is a great restaurant
This is a great restaurant that I used to go to a lot with business groups. But they have no vegan or vegetarian options and more and more today someone in any group may be vegan or vegetarian. As a result, I have my business lunches and dinners at other restaurants that have these options. I wish they would add some vegetarian and vegan options.

Always the same great quality.
Dinner or lunch, spring or fall, 2010 or 2013. This restaurant is the epitome of consistent, high quality, food and service. The ambiance is as fine as any in Salt Lake City. There must be someone out there that doesn't like this restaurant but I've never met them.

Great Downtown Restaurant
It's hard to say enough good things about the New Yorker: the food and the service are wonderful. We eat here as often as we can afford to do so.

Throwback to 20's Glam
We intended on enjoying the Dine O'Round Downtown event that The New Yorker was participating in but after careful review of the limited menu options for the event we opted for the regular menu. The selection did not disappoint, and we were happy to pay a bit more for the regular menu options. Our party dined on seafood, chicken, and beef selections, all of which were cooked to perfection. Our server, Ingela, was incredible, never once did we want for anything. The ambiance is delightful, a throwback to 1920's Glam with a hint of art-deco design. From the stained glass ceiling lights to the marble tile this place is all that it promises.

Another nice restaurant in SLC
Clean linens, nice waitstaff, no waiting for a seat. These are the things I look for when trying new restaurants. Downtown Salt Lake City restaurant that is reasonable priced. The food was fantastic from the appetizer to the dessert. Valet parking was full the night we visited but public parking was next door. Nothing was rushed and the timing for the next dish was spot on. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. Plans are already in place to take the family on their next visit.

A very enjoyable evening.
A very enjoyable evening. Our waiter, Cara, was professional, friendly, and attentive. The food was attractive and expertly prepared. We especially loved the chicken liver pate. I like that it is possible to get a café offering in the larger dining room. This flexibility is so smart on the part of the New Yorker. People can have a special dinner in an elegant setting without spending a month's salary.

New Yorker is a SLC icon for fine dining. I was not disappointed. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is upscale and we enjoyed our experience.

We had a very nice dinner with good food & wine with a very pleasant atmosphere.
The wait staff was right on top of things with filled water glasses and removal of finished plates, etc.
Very pleasant dining experience!

We love this place! The friendly staff, excellent service, superb food, and elegantly retro decor are all things we look forward to each and every time we're here. We wouldn't change a thing!

We go to this restaurant every few months and this is the first time I have made an open table reservation so I was disappointed when we were left waiting at the bar for about 20 minutes. I had family from out of town and it was later in the evening, not very busy so very frustrating.
