Great Food and Service
This was my first time to "The Melting Pot" and the experience was amazing. The food was delicious and the service outstanding. I loved the milk chocolate and Bailey's selection and the restaraunt was very generous with the dipper items. Definitely will come back in the future!!!

Melts in your mouth
The food is great, the waiting allows you to control how much you eat. Our waiter was Victor, and he was awesome! He definitely made the experience much better. I can't wait to go back!

Slow to be seated, great service
It took 10 minutes to be seated even though we had a reservation, took another 10 minutes for our waiter to get our first order, and another 10 minutes to get our drinks. Regardless, our waiter was professional and did a great job throughout the rest of our meal. We would come again.

The atmosphere was perfect, food was amazing and the service was phenomenal. I would recommend this estblishment to any couple celebrating an occasion or for a small group of couples to have a kids free evening out.

Girls Night Out!
Oh, my! My girlfriends and I haven't been to The Melting Pot in ages and when we discussed getting together to decide on Theatre season, I suggested we take advantage of the Ladies' Night Out!! It was such a fun night and I got there about 5 minutes late but just in time to partake in the first of two bottles of a yummy Cab Sav!!! Our waiter (I didn't get his name!) was sooooooooooo attentive and refreshed our memories on what was what. We never felt rushed and we were able to come to a quick decision on the 2013-2014 theatre season and indulge ourselves on the food. The hardest part of the evening was trying to decide on our chocolate fondue dessert!!!! All in all, it was a nice outing away from hubbys and kids!!!

My recently minted fiance and I went here the other night for our anniversary dinner. We got the 4 Course Experience for Two, with the 4 Cheese Appetizer, she had the Caesar and I had the Spinach-Mushroom salad. For the entree course, we got the bourgiougnion with the Classic--which was a tremendous amount of food. We had to cook up about half the meat and have it boxed to take home. For dessert, we had Cookies & Cream Marshmallow Dream, but substituted white chocolate for dark chocolate, which was fantastic.
The restaurant also provided balloons and three chocolate covered strawberries for our enjoyment, waiting at the table when we arrived.
The one downside was that they've switched from Granny Smith apples to pears, which are too mild.

I have wanted to go for a while but couldn't see paying over $100 for just a regular night out. My husband and I went for our anniversary and were thrilled by our experience. It is very dark so if you're not sure what you're planning to order by looking online beforehand, bring a small light/cell phone to help you out. Our waitress, Bethany (?) couldn't have been sweeter. She explained everything very well and made suggestions according to our likes. The portions were bigger than expected. I abhor wasting food and was able to take home enough leftovers to made another meal the next day. If we were not planning on saving room for dessert, I'm sure we could have eaten all but a few bites with no need to take home a box. No complaints here.

If you're looking for a dining experience, not just a meal, this is the place. My husband and I went here to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary. The tables are very private and the lighting was great, which helped to make the evening more romantic. For that reason, I would not recommend it for a 1st date. Definitely more for people you are comfortable with.
We had the 4 course option, which was a lot of food. I had the Classic entree and my husband had the Cajun. It took us about 3 hours to get through our meal, but everything was delicious.
The service here was also impeccable. One of the most polite and courteous staff I've encountered in a restaurant. We definitely plan on going back to try some of the other options.

While we know it's better suited for adult romantics, we took our daughter for her 10th birthday because we knew she'd love the all of the variety, tasks, etc. Very good and pleasant experience. The staff had everything right and made her feel special. Fondue takes a long time anyway; unfortunately, our very good waiter got bogged down between the entrée and dessert, so the experience was about 40 minutes too long. Luck of the draw. I recommend highly.

Went to Melting Pot on a Monday at 5pm. I had asked for the 3 rose package and on the table perfectly assembled was the rose and ballon vase. later the hostess came and took our picture and we left with it in frame. Our server Richard was spectacular. Explained everything and timed his "checking on us" perfectly. We had a great experience and would definitley dine again.

We had a wonderful dinner,
We had a wonderful dinner, as usual, at the Melting Pot.
8/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
The service was very good.
The service was very good. The server explained everything really well and was attentive to our needs. The food experience was very unique and fun for the family. We thought the music was a bit obnoxious and loud. The music style was a "cheesy jazz" with a loud saxophone that pierced the ears. On occasion, the music would mellow out but it was too infrequent. The cost was relatively high.

Great Alternative for Discussions
Good place for "something different" - fondue in different courses. Great way to have a lingering conversation to catch up with friends or relatives - You can nibble, cook, nibble, easily for 2 or 3 hours without being hungry or feeling rushed. Cooking as you eat means no cold food! Our server offered additional small bowls of food so everyone was full without being stuffed. Long, slow, and easy. Our favorites were the cheddar cheese (swiss was very bland), coq au vin cooking method (some thought the bouillion was a tad salty) and the yin/yang chocolate. Our server was friendly and quite attentive without being obtrusive.
8/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
Victor, our server, was amazing. He went through everything so we'd understand the concept. He even brought out both salad dressings to try, which I'm glad he did because my first choice wasn't too great. He also made a lot of recommendations which were all good. The managers were also really cool, calm, and collected. I plan on returning.
8/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
The Melting Pot is an event for us. We celebrated our anniversary. We took our high school aged son along as well. It was a busy Saturday evening, but the staff still helped us feel special and well cared for. The food was good and we left satisfied.

The cheese and chocolate fondues
The cheese and chocolate fondues were outstanding. My California salad was excellent. My husband's Caesar salad was average. We were not as impressed with the coq au vin cooking style for the entrées. It did nothing to complement the marinades. We used it for cooking the ravioli which was delicious We were there for restaurant week so the price of the 2 meals was less than what it usually costs. When we go again, I would order the ravioli as my entrée and skip the meat. All in all, we had an enjoyable experience.

Always a good meal
Have never had a bad meal here. Out server Sarah was great. The meal pace was pleasant. They never rush you. We love fondue and enjoy a meal here about once a month. They had a great deal for restaurant week. Also I held a surprise party for my husband for his 50th birthday there. It is a great place to have a party with plenty of time to talk to your guests and enjoy a meal with them. The manager always stops by to make sure that everything is to your liking. It's great that they care so much about your dining experience.

excellent service and excellent food. Fun too to cook your own food!

Food was great and really
Food was great and really liked the 1920's inspired cocktails! Our server, Victor, did a excellent job taking care of us.

Go for dinner for premium service!
We go here all the time for dinner and dessert bc my family loves the food and great service. However, this last time we went just for dessert for a special treat for my birthday and we noticed a definite difference in the service when we stated we were just going to do the dessert. While I understand that a typical family of four dinner here is around 150 and our dessert was only 60. We still expected the same treatment and friendliness that we usually receive. Overall wonderful food and chocolate as always though.

Great food, good service long waits
As a lot of people have mentioned, the waiting time for the food can be pretty lengthy. But the food was good. Nothing unique or special about it, but for the cooking styles and the fondue. Victor is a good waiter.
9/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
Good but very pricey
This is a pleasant restaurant for a special occasion. Fondue is a novelty that diners of all ages can enjoy. The price, however, is prohibitive. For what one is getting (good food, but not haute cuisine), a bill that can easily top $100 for 4 people is rather steep.
9/8/2013 12:00:00 AM
Good amazon local deal
We went here to use our amazon local deal for a four course meal and it was delicious. We have been there before, so it wasn't new. I didn't really like the pork medallions that came with our entree, but it was better than the pasta that usually comes with these deals, so I guess I won't complain too much. Our fave cheese is the fiesta and my fave chocolate is the cookies and cream marshmallow dream. Delicious!
9/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
We were first time diners and our experience was terrific. Our server Cory was fantastic, he explained everything to us in great detail, he was even training a new server and our service was still awesome. The food was great!!!
9/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
Service was excellent. Our waiter knew about what he was talking about, was very personable, and kept checking up on how we were doing. Food was good. Wish we had slightly larger portions. The interior lighting was just slightly too dark for my taste and it was hard to see and admire the food. I liked that the tables were "hidden" into booths which provided for a more romantic and priate evening. Overall, great experience, great atmosphere, great service.
9/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
We enjoyed The Melting Pot once again, this being our second time for our anniversary once again. The food was great as usual, great service by our server Nicholas who was fantastic and I suggest the Mojo which was also suggested to us as a broth. I highly recommend!! Also, Opentable is a fantastic resource and very efficient!

Loved our experience
We had such a pleasant time visiting the melting pot in Gaithersburg- our server was Victor he was very knowledgeable and so kind and patient with us -my husband and I weren't quite sure what we wanted to order since we are on a diet and we were very picky choosy -Victor were so helpful being suggestive & patient -thank you so much. we enjoyed ourselves so much.

Quite Romantic Evening
The restaurant provides a quiet intimate setting. Each booth is set up so that you almost feel as though you are the only people in the restaurant. The ambiance is attractive and provides a somewhat hip sophisticated feel. Each time we've been there, the service has been exceptional, the wait staff are friendly and unobtrusive and the food always seems to arrive just on time without feeling rushed or wondering when the next course will arrive.
9/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
Not only did the food taste amazing, but it was also a lot of fun skewering each piece and dipping it in cheese or cooking it in the coq au vin. The dark chocolate fondue dessert was especially amazing. The restaurant was pretty empty when we went, but that's not surprising, as it was a Tuesday night. The only bit I didn't like as much was the horribly cheesy, endless romantic-themed music playing rather loudly through the otherwise quiet restaurant. Our waitress was really nice and funny. I really appreciated that she came back to check with us about the wine ordered, because she had heard an order for a $100 wine bottle when a $40 wine bottle had been ordered. So, she saved us $60 by double checking with us. Overall, a great meal.
9/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great food better service
Although it is a little pricey, the food was excellent and our server did the best job ever. He was very helpful and patient.
9/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
Very enjoyable evening
When we arrived, we were seated immediately. The booths are cozy and provide privacy and a very nice ambiance. The waitstaff was extremely patient and attentive and allowed us to leisurely talk and take our time. In fact, without realizing it, we were still working on the entree past closing time. Still, we were given the privacy and time to finish not only our entree but also our dessert and wine. Such an enjoyable evening and thank you to our wonderful waitress!
10/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food is always amazing, who doesn't love fondue, dipping wonderful items into cheese or chocolate!
10/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
We get to go out together very rarely, so on a night we had a sitter we ran to Melting Pot Gaithersburg, they had their Flappers, Fellas, and Fondue night and it was so much fun!! We have been to three different Melting Pot locations and this was the most creative!
10/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
Staff Went Above and Beyond
My friends and I had a Living Social voucher for services, which was not valid on Saturday's. Though it was technically our fault for not reading the fine print, the staff went above and beyond in making our visit memorable and we are excited to return on Sun-Thurs to redeem our voucher for another wonderful meal!
10/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
Really enjoyed celebrating our anniversary at the MP. We arrived a little after 6 pm and expected to wait until 6:15 (our reservation time), that was not the case. We were sat down right away! Our waitress was superb in explaining the menu and how to order. She also gave us recommendations after learning that we were first timers at this restaurant - this was extremely helpful. We chose the 4 course meal, and I can honestly tell you, there was more than enough food. We left with our tummies full. And to conclude our experience, we left with 6 chocolate covered strawberries - just for registering to their club fondue! We truly had an amazing experience at the MP and will definitely be back!
10/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
Layout of the restaurant allows privacy for groups of 2/3, which I really liked - didn't have the bustle of a large open space, though there were areas that accommodated larger groups but even those areas weren't so large that you felt you were in a large area. Food was very tasty - my favorites were the herb crusted chicken breast and Angus beef, though the teriyaki sirloin wasn't far behind those. Had the four course experience, and every course was very generous sized. We had the Spinach Artichoke fondue and that was the best I've ever had, and our preference for dipping into the cheese fondue was the tortilla chips. Wine was a generous pour - came in a small carafe that accommodated almost two glasses of wine at other restaurants.
10/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
Attentative staff = nice experience
The food was good, plentiful etc. Our waitress was checking in often to be sure we didn't need anything. Mgr came by to ask if all was well, too. Food was good and timing was nice too.
However I do have some comments.
Timers are needed to discern which foods are done.
PLUS, lighting needs to be improved! Dim lights impacted our ability to know status of cooked meats. Some closer lights (book lights?) could help see the foods we are to consume.
Also labeling of meats [& sauces] would be useful. [maybe a "key" card for each - so we can be sure not to UNDERCOOK the pork products - but allow us to have medium rare meats]
Finally, spices were FAR TOO Heavy-handed. Less pepper would be better.
10/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
The melting pot is pricey, but well worth is for a special occasion. We always get 4 courses and you can't go wrong with yummy cheese, a salad, meat fondue of your choice and chocolate.
10/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
Worth Going At Least Once
I used a Living Social deal to experience their four course meal. It was a great experience. The food was great. I would only go for very special occasions because it is expensive. They also offer you more dippers (veggies, bread, dessert, etc.) which is nice. The cocktails are also very good.
10/30/2013 12:00:00 AM
Never a disappointment! Always a wonderful place w/ a great environment.

Loved it! Had a great time
Loved it! Had a great time with my wife enjoying our eating/cooking experience. Food was delicious and just kept coming.

Delicious and special
Melting Pot is our date night favorite. In a traditional restaurant my husband and I are in an out in an hour max, and that's with slow service. At Melting Pot we actually take the time to talk to one another as our food cooks on our table top. We call it a dinner experience versus going out to dinner. We are usually at the Melting Pot table for at least 2 hours engaged in good conversation and eating amazing food!
11/1/2013 5:00:00 PM
Arranged this for my wife's birthday and it couldn't have gone better, the table was set up with what I had ordered ahead of time, it was secluded, we had a fantastic waitress. Overall a fantastic experience and we would definately do it again.
11/2/2013 5:00:00 PM
Great for special occasions
This was our 23rd wedding anniversary, and I ordered the special occasion package which included chocolate covered strawberries, balloons, and a photo. I specifically asked if they could us white-chocolate instead of regular chocolate for the strawberries (my husband is allergic). They made the substitution even though we made the reservation only the afternoon of the dinner!
The Melting Pot is a great romantic restaurant, because the booths are cozy and situated around the fondue pot where you dip or cook your food. The slower pace of dipping/cooking and eating encourages conversation. Great specials, fun drinks, extra "dippers" for dessert. It would be fun for a family if the kids were adventurous. We will go again!
11/7/2013 4:00:00 PM
Price level is high but certainly wonderful for a special occasion and worth the price.
11/13/2013 4:00:00 PM
VERY patient server. She did the best she could to make everyone happy. Explained all that she was doing along the way. Had been wanting to try this for a long time - glad we finally had a chance.
11/22/2013 4:00:00 PM
Food was very good, although
Food was very good, although there was not enough cheese to use all the dippers provided. The salads came after cheese fondue course, which was not what we preferred since we were only having cheese fondue, salads and chocolate fondue. Server was very nice, though.
11/25/2013 4:00:00 PM
No complaints at all. Food good, ambiance good. I was treated so I don't know the cost of the dinner. I have heard from other reviewers that the cost is high. I don't know myself.
