Marvelous, creative Japanese
Marvelous, creative Japanese food. The fish and avocado tower was absolutely delicious. The sashimi presentation was spectacular and the offerings also delicious. My husband's meal was also delicious and beautifully presented. This casual place is just wonderful.

Only possible "glitch" was the sushi was very slow to come out b/c the chefs were slammed. The waitress was exceptional though.

The food is good, if not a bit expensive; and the staff is friendly, although sometimes, service can be slow. There are enough regulars - and the staff knows some of them by name - that make this SF location of a mini-chain feel like it's part of the neighborhood.

Had such a good time at Blow Fish Sushi. picked it randomly for my friends birthday and we all thought the sushi was amazing, the ambianc me very cool, and loud music to jam too. I will definitely be going back. I highly recommend it.

Delicious and fresh sushi that we all enjoyed and ordered in abundant amounts!

I Asked Him Out To Ball!
When I was at the Blowfish, I made a special request for the waiters to write a message in chocolate on a dessert I ordered to ask my friend out to ball. When the plate arrived just like how I imagined it, the deal was sealed! I love the blowfish for that. Thank you guys so much. You made the night AWESOME, memorable, and I am DEFINITELY coming back!

Thouroughly enjoyed my lunch.
Thouroughly enjoyed my lunch. I had a reservation for 2 and my guest couldn't make it, the staff were understanding and when I said I would sit at the bar they said no, take the table, even though it was busy. They were very welcoming. Delicious food and beautiful restaurant.

We sat outside on the street. It was very quiet and a perfectly warm sunny evening. The drinks were very good as was the service. The sushi is amazing! Loved the poke, uni, everything! It's a bit pricey but well worth it. We'll be back again for sure.

Unique & Very Good
Although we've been to sushi restaurants before, we almost always ordered our usual dishes (cal roll, spicy tuna...) This time we asked our very nice waiter to surprise us. He did a great job! For appetizers he brought us an order of Kyo Twist which was a light flakey fish with great flavers and a Pyirmid of Tartare which he mixed for us and we scoped with light thin potatoe chips. Both yumo! For dinner we had Toshi Koshi and $O$UMI. Again both dishes were new to us, very unique and wonderful. We will definitely be back.

Had the Ahi Pyramid, server fixed it up at the table. Amazing.
Food here is great.
Be warned it is loud in here. Don't expect a quiet romantic evening.

Good food, very well presented
We had a mini family reunion here (just 5 of us) and had a great time. The food was excellent and very well presented. The service was attentive but not intrusive. Unusual drinks and it was enjoyed by both the young folks and the old folks.

Great food and a cool scene!
While visiting San Fran my family and I were craving Sushi. At first we were hesitant to get Sushi in an unfamiliar place but the reviews motivated us to try blowfish out. Not only was the sushi delicious but the service was great and the scene was really fun and cool. I would def recommend this as a great restaurant in San Fran and wish they had a chain in NYC.

Food Fit For Fussy Families
The diverse menu was filled with yummy options which worked for my extremely health conscious 15-year-old (I.e., will eat nothing that had legs), old grandpa who actually had a hard time narrowing down all the options, my limited-palate 10-year old, and me, a food-fan father. Food presentations are so beautiful that you will makw all your friends jealous with the pictures you post (And you will post my friends). The Zen green tea cheesecaket and beIgnet bon bons finish the meal so well that you'll leave with a smile on your face and good feelings inside, though a much emptier wallet.

We were recommended this restaurant
We were recommended this restaurant by a friend who used to live in SF. It was great advice as we really enjoyed our evening at Blowfish. The sushi options were fantastic and our waitress helped us pick out some stellar house specialties....such as the ultimate spicy tuna roll....which was so good that we had it twice! Great service, great ambience, a cool spot, and great food....what more can you ask for.

Good place to find a 'scene' in the mission. Sushi is creative, not traditional. Good place to go before a night out. Not so much for a quiet relaxing dinner.

died and went to heaven
When someone suggested Blowfish sushi to die for, I thought she was telling me the restaurant was named Blowfish and that their is to die for....well, either way, she was 100000% right. It was the MOST AWESOME sushi and non sushi foods I've ever had -- and that's coming from a jaded New York foodie. I'm still thinking about that tartare guacamole and those pork belly appetizers
The restaurant was able to accommodate my party of 8 on just a few hours notice & we had a blast. Can't wait for next time I'm working or visiting SF as this will place is a MUST GO AGAIN -- it truly was...to die for

Tasty, loud, expensive
I made a reservation here for my wife's birthday and brought a group of about 8 friends. The servers were very tolerant of our group's irregular makeup and orders, and kept our table supplied with water and tea throughout the evening. The sushi was delicious, and it was the first time I've encountered "gourmet" ingredients fused with traditional sushi; usually high-quality rice and fish is all it takes to make sushi gourmet, but this place included fancy touches like Sriracha tempura flakes or spiced aioli to add some variety. The cocktails were also delicious, and the Russian Roulette oyster sampler was a hit. My only complaints would be the cost and the noise level.

Great as always!
The best sushi in town, awesome service, amazing paintings on the walls, great ambience, very trendy. Easy parking around.
I will go back there again and again.

Great atmosphere. Unique sushi options. Great date spot for those who need a new take.
I was a huge fan of the Tokyo Queen. The woman who helped us was awesome as well. In a town filled with sushi, this place is a must.

The outstanding food made us ordering one plate after the other, even we were so much done with eating... Thank you for a great experience...

Our waitress Jaime was great
Our waitress Jaime was great at recommending the Blowfish specialty rolls which we enjoyed very much. Our favorite was the toshi moshi. The presentation of the marinated cod appetizer was lovely. The service was great! It helped that our waitress has tried almost everything on the menu which made it easier for us to order from the extensive menu. We were glad we went early at 630pm because when the DJ came it got a bit too loud for us for conversation. The drinks were good and strong. I would definitely recommend Blowfish Sushi to others

Loved EVERY Bite!
I booked our reservation based on Open Table reviews and was not disappointed! Every item exudes quality ingredients that are extremely fresh and handled with great care and expertise.
The crowd varied from a young family, to one with high school aged children, business execs (seemingly from Zynga), a girls night, and yes date night, vibrant new age music. GREAT cocktails!
You will not be disappointed!

Very unique items
My biggest challenge was deciding what I DIDN'T want to order. I always tend to over order at sushi restaurants, but this place made it even more difficult to decide with all of their unique rolls and appetizers. I especially loved the oyster shooter with quail egg and the amaebi with the deep fried head

Some of the best sushi in town
Very big and creative menu and everything we had was outstanding and well - presented. Their special maki are excellent. Also the cooked non-sushi dishes like "list in the forest," sautéed scallops with a mix of greens and veggies. Even the standard sushi items are just a cut above what you get elsewhere .

Blowfish Sushi is the place to be. It has a little something for everyone and every age (except kids). Great bar, great dining room and Japanese movies to boot! The service is always stellar--efficient and unfailingly polite. They are very helpful for those of us who are not as experienced in ordering sake or sushi. I cannot say enough about the qualities of this restaurant and the food.

Creative But Not Overdone!
Very unusual, creative takes on traditional sushi, but not overdone - I am a classic sushi diner, having lived in Japan for several years, but Suno Mono cucumber salad was simply fantastic. DO NOT MISS IT!

Took my virgin husband...
The oysters on ice are always perfect with my favorite wasabi tobiko. To Die For, lobster and filet mignon with wasabi marscapone, and the spider roll. Halibut Crudo with a crisp mango salsa and white truffle oil! And we also had a great mixed fish sushi roll with 5 or 6 different fishes. Picked off the mackerel, not our favorite, but otherwise an epic, combo roll with so many different flavors & textures.

The food was amazing and the staff was very sweet but we felt forgotten a lot during dinner. The worst was asking for a desert w a candle twice but we never received it. We left without singing our friend happy bday :(

Great and inventive
I have been wanting to try this legend in SF for years and was not disappointed. . The sushi menu is also extremely creative! It will take many trips to work one's way through all the enticing possibilities to try. The tartare dish was spectacular and a must-have - homemade chips to go with were perfect.. Each sushi dish equally amazing . We loved the mushrooms as a side dish and the seaweed salad!. We tried numerous sakes and the server was helpful with each selection providing tasting notes and took us through a progression pairing the sakes with each dish we tried right up to dessert where we had a warm, sweet and unfiltered sake that was plumy and yummy. Perfection all around. Definititly worth the trip - even if out of your way.

I have always had great customer service and great food at Blowfish. The last time we went my little sister (who is not 21) wanted a non-alcoholic version of a specialty drink. Instead of the bartender making a bland drink without alcohol, the bartender make my sister an off the menu drink that tasted amazing. The service was prompt and friendly throughout the night. The food is a bit pricey, but worth every penny. I ordered the punch, ostrich portabello, to die for, edamame, and a few nigiri items, all of it was amazing.
