Excellent meal and service!
My husband and I went to the Smithville Inn to celebrate our anniversary. We had a delicious meal, great service, and a wonderful evening. Scenic view of lake was beautiful, and décor of the restaurant was elegant. We had Prime Rib and Chicken Pot Pie as our entrees. Both were cooked very well. Dessert was a delicious way to end our evening! I highly recommend this restaurant.

Friday Night LOBSTER NIGHT
Well worth the trip off shore on a Friday night for a $20 lobster dinner, complete with salad & sides. For dessert try their VANILLA ice cream over a warm apple crisp. Delicious.

My girlfriend wanted to do something"different"- at the last minute. Realizing that getting AWAY was not likely at the last minute, I suggested dinner at the Smithville Inn, someplace that I had not been to in many years. Bulls eye!! Great food, great service. Ambience. What else do you need?

My husband and I went back to the Smithville Inn to celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary. And it was beyond anything we could have expected. They treated us like we have been friends for ages! The owner and manager both came up to or table and greeted us, all the while my husband surprised me with a replica cake to eat for dessert that the restaurant had waiting! We will never go anyplace else when we want to celebrate a special night out!

Great Place for us for 35 years
We have been coming here for at least 35 years since my wife and I have met. We have come here with our kids since they have been young, my parents, friends and other family members. We just love this place for it's location, views of the pond at Smithville and most of all, the great food and service. We will keep coming back.

Excellent Food and Service
Had my birthday dinner there with family. Food was excellent. Waiter was attentive and engaging. Shared hors d'oeuvres of smoked fish and fried tomatoes. Very nice experience.

Labor Day Finale
Haven't been to the Smithville Inn in several years but it was still as good as I remember. The food was very good, the service a bit slow only because they were a bit crowded, and the noise level a little loud because of the crowds.

A true Gem
Smithville Inn is a perfect cap to the end of our vacation. Friday night with Lenny at the piano, the best food and service around, it doesn't get any better than that. You always feel special when dinining at Smithville Inn. Looking forward to getting over there again in the near future.

Excellent food for price!
On our first visit to Smithville, we decided to try the Smithville Inn for lunch. Lunch menu had plenty of choices, reasonably priced. Our server was attentive, but not overly so. They were very busy at lunch that day, and I would say our only complaint was that we did not get water refills. All in all a nice lunch, and we would definitely return!

A Super Experience
The Smithville Inn was great! The food was excellent, choices were varied and included many delicious sounding entrees.
We had not been there in several years and chose to take another couple there as a thank you gift. We went in the late afternoon and visited many of the shops which were fun to visit. The atmosphere of the area is so nice and pleasant. After a little shopping,we went for dinner which was excellent. The service was a little slow, but in the long run it was better because it was so relaxing. We actually shared a delicious apple dessert. I would recommend it to anyone. Make an afternoon of it and have dinner later. The shops close at 7 on Saturday night.

My boyfriend and I dined here after a beautiful day at Smithville village. Since we were staying overnight (at the Colonial Inn) we made 8:30 reservations, and after dinner went to the bar (Baremore) for a few drinks. We had a fabulous experience here - from the food to the service. Our server Laura was attentive and so friendly. The Smithville Inn was the perfect ending to a great little weekend getaway. I highly recommend it! We are already planning our next visit !

This was a first time visit
This was a first time visit to the Smithville Inn. We enjoyed the food and ambience. The make make chicken pot pie that was excellent and actually made in a pie pan. We will be back on our next visit to the Atlantic City area.

My husband and I got engaged in Smithville 41 years ago. We had not been back for quite a few years until recently. We both enjoyed ourselves very much as it brought back such good memories. We plan to return soon. It holds a very special place in our hearts.

A Stable Standby
This restaurant seems to be my family's go-to place for a delicious brunch. The service is impeccable and the food is delicious! Be sure to request seating by the buffet in the open large window room!
9/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
Ver good food, historic place.
Hubbie loves the chicken pot pie. It did have several large dumplings. replace a couple with more vegies and chicken. My tilapia was perfect. I thought the crab pesto on top of it was odd with it didnt work as well as separately. 7 layer carrot cake (I counted 6, but was still huge) was moist. The star was Terri, our server. She anticipated our needs, was attentive and told us the special prices. I noted another table where a couple had to drag out the info from their server. VERY nice and friendly Loved her. We always come to SI when we visit from the west coast and always have a special time The Sunday brunch (went a few yrs back) is great. Come early and walk around the olde timey shops, lovely pond, etc.

Mix of Modern & Historic ...foods
On a weeknight it is a quiet romantic spot with beautiful garden/lake view (come for later afternoon and sunset.) Weekends can be a bit noisy for romance, but the food is quite good. Modern: flash grilled scallops/ shrimp on a fresh corn Salsa with a light & delicious polenta cake. Excellent. Chicken Pot Pie...and that's the historic part of food. Along with the apple butter, delish homemade cranberry relish and cottage cheese served gratis before dinner. We chose the smoked trout and smoked salmon small plate with toast points etc. - goat cheese served - a nice twist . The Lemon pound cake was a moist , amazingly iced delight with a cup of coffee. Very accomodating in the service area. Good wine list. Rustic tavern serves same food too.

Welcome Back to The Smithville Inn
My wife and I (we actually met in Florida) used to dine with our families at Smithville Inn when we were children. We are both now 55 and during our visit to Atlantic City deceided it was time to revisit one of our special childhood memories. Everything was as we remembered it, right down to the apple butter and cottage cheese. The mean was fantastic and a truly memorable evening. We are glad we made this a part of our visit. Thanks for the memories.

Lovely place to dine!
We dined at the Smithville Inn Restaurant with adult family members and had a lovely time. We took advantage of the Prime Rib special. Everything was delicious! The decor' was also very lovely. We all decided we will return for a repeat visit.

Over the top
We were first seated at a table next to the entrance to a wedding reception. Our waitress, Laura, realized we were unhappy with our seats and immediately moved us to a quiet dining room where all we could hear was the piano player. She was tremendous in the attention given us even though she was also serving a large group in another room. She recommended the pumpkin martini which was fabulous. My husband ordered the chicken potpie. We were shocked by the huge proportion. Even though it was very delicious he could only eat half of it. My flounder dish was exceptional.
Our experience at the Smithville Inn was more than we could imagine and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

We love the Smithville Inn
We love the Smithville Inn and especially the more casual dining in the tavern area. The atmosphere is more relaxed & laid back and perfect for a very good meal at a reasonable price at the end of a long work week! We love sitting by that huge fireplace on a cool fall night. The TV's are on but quiet which is good..... you can catch the score of a game with ruining the mood. We are frequent diners there because we live close by and enjoy it so much!
10/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
outstanding food and professional friendly service from knowledgeable staff with pride in hier restaurant.
10/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
It had been a while- nice surprise!
I had visited the Smithville Inn for lunch many times as a kid while shopping in the village with my Mom. I thought of it as a senior citizen hang out with marginal food. We moved to the area and avoided it for 2 years for this reason, but finally decided to give it a try. So glad we did! It is cozy with a mixed crowd (very busy even off season) and the food and service were excellent. It was classy but cozy on a cold night, and the complimentary valet was a nice touch. They were uber accommodating about dietary restrictions. Will definitely go back!
10/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
Good food, great service
We enjoyed appetizers, entrees and desserts. My entree was a little too salty even by restaurant standards - I had the Short rib pasta entree, my husband had the duck two ways - which was an asian style and duck with gnocchi, also a bit too salty for our tastes. Our appetizers were excellent. New England Corn Chowder was excellent, thick, rich and flavorful. A house made pork belly was the best appetizer of the night. Savory, with a crisp bite and not too salty. The Pumpkin Pecan Crunch dessert was amazing! We also enjoyed the Caramel Apple Tart. We will return, in next time hope the dishes are a little less salty, and a little lighter in fare.

Monday evening, quite quiet,
Monday evening, quite quiet, pleasant food, nice ambiance..
10/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
Went to the Smithville Inn with my Dad 'cause he likes classy places and he was payin'. I got the spicy shrimp appy which was tasty. I ordered the 'two ways' duck as an entree and was impressed. The duck slices were yummy but the bowl of gnocchi, duck meat and bacon was out of this world. I saved what I couldn't eat and am going to make my coworkers jealous by eating it at my desk. Overall I would say it's a great place that's slightly overpriced which should be expected for the classiest place in the hood.
10/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
We have dined here before and always enjoy it. The chicken pot pie is the best I have had anywhere
10/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
We loved our 1st visit so decided to return with friends. They loved it and we were so glad for our choice. The restaurant has a beautiful view overlooking the lake. Food was wonderful again and a very nice selection. The staff was very friendly. We are going back for Xmas.
11/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
We went to the Smithville Inn for our anniversary. We had heard a lot about it in the past but had never gone. My husband and I both thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The food was outstanding and the waiter we had, Mike, was very pleasant and helpful in making suggestions for our meal choices.

My Favorite Restaurant Anywhere
The Smithville Inn is my favorite Restaurant anywhere. The food is always delicious. Their wine list is so extensive with great selections. Their signature drinks, like the Pumpkin Martini, are so creative and amazing. The food is always delicious. I have never had a meal I didn't thoroughly enjoy. The staff is so welcoming and make you feel like family. I have to rate my entire experience each time that I dine there a 14 out of 10. Every thing is always amazing.

The brunch at the Smithville Inn
Had a great time. Went for the Sunday Brunch. Plenty of good food and the atmosphere was nice. Would recommend this to others. Service was outstanding. My daughter goes to Stockton College just up the road from there, we celebrated her birthday with the brunch. Excellent! The bread pudding is decadent!!!

Nostalgic buffet brunch
Some people look down upon buffets, but we really enjoy nice ones, where we can sample lots of interesting dishes. The Smithville Inn does a lovely brunch, with many old-time, all-time comfort foods: biscuits with sausage gravy; creamed chipped beef; authentic chicken salad; apple butter; creamy, large curd cottage cheese; deep dish bread pudding with vanilla sauce; etc. this is in addition to the standards: omelettes to order, waffles with fresh berries and whipped cream, scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, really good bacon, sausage, chicken, beef, carving station, lots of interesting salads, fresh fruit, cakes, pies, cookies, ice cream, and more. The ambience is warm and homey, and the service is friendly and attentive.
11/9/2013 4:00:00 PM
We made reservations, were seated, were served, enjoyed...all very promptly. French Onion Soup...to die for! Such a nice place!
11/10/2013 4:00:00 PM
Our party of 4 could not pass up the prime rib for $20 special. The meat was cooked to perfection, the wait staff was great, and the atmosphere was conducive to fine dining. The onion soup was great as well.
11/14/2013 4:00:00 PM
We loved having a great place for a
leisurely brunch. The dishes were varied a
and quite good. The ice cream tasted
like ice milk which was very dis-
appointing. We would definitely go
back and take friends.

Worth the Ride
Once or twice a year, my family travels the 1 1/2 to 2 hour ride from Brooklyn and Staten Island, NY to enjoy the Sunday brunch at the Smithville Inn. We enjoy the wide variety of dishes available and the relaxed atmosphere. We appreciate the wait staff allowing us to take our time during the meal. The servers are attentive to all of our beverage needs. No matter the season, the restaurant is lovely and the grounds and surrounding village are a perfect spot to enjoy a leisurely walk after a satisfying meal.
