A Good Selection of Indian Food
We have been to this restaurant twice. Once we brought a friend and she really enjoyed it as well. There is a homey feeling being there. The menu offers a large selection of choices. If you are unsure about how spicy you want your food you may wish to consider mild. We enjoyed visiting this one. We cannot comment on the wine menu.

First time at an Indian restaurant and it was great!

I have eaten in a few Indian
I have eaten in a few Indian restaurants over the years, perhaps four. I would rate this among the tops I've experienced. However, there was a larger group at the table next to us, and they were very noisy. In addition, I booked a table for two people at 7:30 pm, and the restaurant recorded it as three people at 8 pm. It did not cause a problem in getting my table, but, I don't understand why they were so misinformed, especially since the reservation was through Open Table.
In summary, though, I would definitely return and highly recommend.

We enjoyed our overall experience
We enjoyed our overall experience at Tantric. Its a perfect spot to go to for Indian food in the Theatre district. The menu was moderately price and quite varied and the service was attentive...not too fast, not too slow. The restaurant was full on Saturday night and there was a buzz but not so deafening that you couldn't conduct a conversation.

Tantrastic Aroma, Great Food
Our party of three enjoyed Tantric prior to seeing Gary Gulman (who happened to be having dinner next to us)at the Wilbur Theater. I only wish we had more people in our party so we could have tried more dishes. The aroma of Tantric is Tantrastic. I only wish our server would have spent less time on the phone and more time visiting our table as we wanted to order more nan; but ran out of time.

Good, reasonably priced Indian
Good, reasonably priced Indian food in the heart of the Theater District. My wife and I have been here several times and never been disappointed. The menu is comprehensive and includes quite a few items not typically found on Indian restaurant menus in the Boston area, including lauki (bottle gourd) kofta, as well as the usual standards (including plenty of vegetarian choices). The prices do reflect a "theater district markup", but it's not nearly as onerous as other restaurants in the area. I found the clubby/New Age decor a bit off-putting, but this is clearly the "look" the owners are going for. A real gem amid the overpriced tourist traps in the area.

Good Indian in the Theater district
We have been here numerous times and have always been pleased (once we convinced them that we liked actually spicy food). The previous time we were there though was a bad experience (bad drink which had the wrong ingredients; food that was not very spicy or even well seasoned for flavor; and a friend we were meeting could not get a waiter to even take a drink order until I arrived 20 minutes later). So that is what we were thinking when we were asked to join a few friends for lunch (they choose the place, we resisted and lost).
So, how was this experience? It was good. The drink was good (Tamarind Margarita) if a little too sweet, but it tasted proper. The food was good, even of the proper spice level (HOT!) that we asked for. But servi

We were pleased with the service
We were pleased with the service and the amount of meat in the entrees. many indian restaurants skimp on the meat/chicken/fish in the entrees, doctoring them up with additional sauce. It is on a higher end price point for ethnic food but the quality is great.

A find in the theatre district!
I found the indian food to be excellent and our server was exceptional! He had many good recommendation and was very attentive. I especially like the privacy of the back area. I hope to be back again soon!

I must say, the Gobi Manchurian MIGHT just be the greatest dish I have ever had, in my entire life. I know that sounds overly dramatic, but I cannot express to you the truly overwhelming taste sensation that was their Gobi Manchurian appetizer. After my first bite I said as much to my dinner companion, and she was like, "come on, you're exaggerating..." Then she tasted it then took a moment and said...."Wow, you might be right" I can't remember the last time at any restaurant that I ordered a second plate of an appetizer.
Other than that everything else was pitch perfect, attentive, friendly, calm service, and a truly beautiful restaurant to boot in the heart of the theater district. CHECK IT OUT, especially if you're vegetarian.

Awesome Indian Food
I happen to love Indian food and was thrilled to find this location so close to the Wilbur Theater. Me and two girlfriends enjoyed a bottle of wine and 3 amazing entrees. The restaurant offered some unusual flavors of naan and those were really delicious as well. Great food, great location, great service!

They pay attention
With a wide variety of spice tolerances ta the table, food prep was appropriate to the individual, with drinks attended consistently. Meat eaters & veggie lovers alike will enjoy this place!

One of my favotie places
You can smell how good the food is going to be as soon as you walk in. This is one of the best Indian restaurants in the Boston area. The chicken and seafood dishes are particularly outstanding. The service is attentive. Water glasses are always filled. The wait staff asks how spicy you want each dish. And the high level has been very consistent over the years. Highly recommended.

Tantric WINNER in Theatre District
I brought a group of 6 to Tantric last night for dinner, before the Eugene Mirman Comedy Festival kicking off at the Wilbur. Never been before and had a GREAT meal!
SERVICE: attentive, friendly, helpful, communicative
FOOD: delicious, fresh, flavorful. Specifically try the garlic na'an and lamb tikka masala. YUM!!!!!!!!!!!
Only one drawback....
AMBIENCE: restaurant did not turn on their air conditioning in the middle of the heat wave made our entire group uncomfortable. We actually all agreed, we would return to the restaurant but NOT until A/C is fixed.
6/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food had so much flavor! I love curry but this places use of spices was outstanding.

Best Indian in Boston?
Great service, and really quite excellent food. I grew up eating Indian food in the UK and without a doubt this is the best I've tasted since moving here 13 years ago. It's nice that even with the more spiced dishes they will give the the option of less "heat" (as in chilli heat) so for those anxious to try new flavors they can do so without concern (or even try a familiar milder curry "kicked up a bit")
The location is not the biggest in the world, but the place has a nice atmosphere and is extremely convenient for all of the theatre district locations.

Decent Indian Restaurant
The restaurant is nice and the service was great. Looks like they have a nice selection of mixed drinks though I did not try any on this night. I had a lamb dish for dinner that was decent, but nothing special. I would go again, but wouldn't rush to get there.

great indian place in the theater district. we ate here before we saw Wicked at the Opera house. The Naan is to die for, and the tikka masala and mango chicken were fabulous as well

Wonderful Authentic Indian Food
Indian food is one of my favorite ethnic foods. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this restaurant had a diner-sized menu of delicious northern and southern Indian specialties. Everything, from the butter chicken to the naan to the chapatis was out of this world good and reasonably priced. Delicious and steps away from many theatres!

Our Boston routine
Whenever we are in Boston, we eat at Tantric to get the best Indian fix around! The food is excellent, service good and always pleasant.

Great food and service, bad music
We chose Tantric because it was walking distance to the Opera House. We like Indian food as a couple since the kids aren't that into it. The food was very good. Service as well, though fairly simple. What bothered me was they were playing American pop music. It really spoiled the otherwise quiet and pleasant atmosphere. I would have preferred Indian or at least any sort of international flavored music.

Solid Indian Fare
Very good Indian. Not a very innovative menu; it sticks to the usual stuff you'll find at your local tandoori place. But they do that very well. Food is spiced as well as spicy. The tikka masala is nice and tangy with a good slow burn (stick to mild or medium unless you really like it hot), fried apps aren't greasy at all. Portions are really big. Split an app and naan, especially if you're going to a show and can't take home leftovers. Quiet enough for easy conversation. The tables are WAY too close together. A party was seated behind me, and I was bumping my fellow diners. The server couldn't get through! They were very apologetic when they brought the wrong app and fixed it right away. Fast for pre show.

Very close to theaters(2 blocks away) & staff expedited our service knowing we had tickets that evening. Never had Indian food, so the 4 of us ordered a variety of dishes with different levels of spice to it & we tasted a bit of each. Plan to return.

Still my favorite
This is still my favorite Boston Indian restaurant. The service is always excellent, the menu is varied, and the quality of the food has never disappointed. It is very convenient for before-theater dining, and I always come here before a show.
10/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
I enjoyed the relaxed and quiet ambiance, even on a very busy night in the Boston theater district. The service was very friendly and accommodating. We asked for our dishes to be prepared at a medium level of spiciness, but they were too strong for one of us so the kitchen readily prepared one dish again with no hot spices so that my dining companion could eat it. Most of all I liked that we could converse without having to shout above the talk around us. There was a good selection of vegetarian and meat dishes on the menu, just as you would expect at a good Indian restaurant. I expect to be going back to Tantric Bistro before other evenings at the theater.
10/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
I've been meaning to try this spot out, and finally the opportunity came last Friday evening. It was a bit late for dinner time (8 pm) so there were only half the tables occupied, which was nice. Food is excellent, service was good, and leftovers just brightened my weekend!!! Will certainly return. Watch out for ordering spice levels 5 and above... They really mean it when they say spicy here!!!!
10/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great Indian Cuisine
The restaurant is very convenient to all the theaters and the atmosphere was really nice. They have a cool, somewhat secluded sitting area in the back which was great for our party of 8. It probably could sit a party of 25 in there. Our waiter was friendly, attentive and helpful with our food choices. The food was very good. We loved the Naan with goat cheese and rosemary and assorted lamb dishes.

Will always go back
This was my second time to the Tantric and was so glad to find that the first time was not an accident. The food and service are wonderful.
10/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
Very authentic Indian food
Very authentic Indian food in Theater district. Nice to be able to have some of the currys more or less spicy. Lamb Samosas were full of meat. Lots of lovely vegetarian choices. Would go again.

Tantric was great
Tantric was great. We were visiting Boston and craving Indian food. My wife and I went with our 16 year old daughter. The food and service were both great; so much so that we went 2 nights in a row!
10/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
We like Indian food and no
We like Indian food and no good ones near where we live in the far suburbs. We dine at Tantric whenever we are in the theater district for The Boston Ballet or Other Events.
10/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
dinner before the show
My daughter and I had dinner there Saturday night before the show at Wang Theater. We had to wait a few minutes for our table (we had a reservation) but everything else ran smoothly and our server made sure we were out in time for the show. The food was excellent and very tasty. We'll be back!

If you enjoy Indian food and don't want to travel to Cambridge, Tantric is a great choice. The menu offered a number of traditional Indian dishes, and had an extensive vegetarian selection. The service is very good - attentive but not hovering.

Authentic Indian food
Having been to India a bunch of times, the food at Tantric is absolutely genuine. There are a lot of options from different areas of India, so everyone can find something that they will like. They will also adjust the 'heat' of the spices if there is someone in your party who doesn't like hot spices - yet not so much that they ruin the dish. The wait staff was excellent - timely and attentive.
10/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
Third visit to Tantric- the service is excellent even when crowded to the max on a 'theater' night. There's something about the atmosphere that immediately makes you feel comfortable - it has a great vibe - feels like a 'happy' place - the wait staff always seem to be smiling and genuinely seem pleased to serve you. Food is consistently good -always tastes exceptionally fresh. The Indian cusine is a level above most in my opinion, the dishes extremely rich & flavorful but not overly spiced. Lamb Tiki Masala was divine, Tandoori Chicken exceptionally moist and tender. Best nan bread and sweet lassi I've found yet. The quality of food and the more-than-reasonable prices has rapidly made this one of my favorite restaurants in Boston.
11/3/2013 4:00:00 PM
This is our go-to place downtown
We finally realized it...Tantric is the place we have been to the most number of times in Boston, so that must mean something! I think they do have the best Indian food I have had in the United States. There are so many options, you can always try something different, and it truly is ALL good. The location is very convenient for a pre or post theater meal. The seating is fairly spacious as far as Boston restaurants go, and the service has always been very friendly. The prices are also the most reasonable for a quality restaurant, of any Boston restaurant (entrees are $15-18). I'm sure it won't be long before we return...

Great wait staff!
We had a great experience, a fantastic waiter backed up by a host of other folks who attended to water, clearing dishes and delivering food. We were enjoying the music, and we asked the waiter about it. He informed me it was a Bollywood sound track, and since I was enjoying it, wrote down the name of the film and gave me tips on listening to other Bollywood music. We tried a new veggie dish, Lauri Kofta, it was amazing. And drinks were great too. We've been here a number of times, for dinner before a show, or for lunch, and always enjoy, but this time seemed even better.

Excellent reasonably priced Indian
It's great to find a reasonably priced ethnic restaurant in an area full of expensive business-type places. My companion was a vegetarian who thought the food and breads were outstanding. I really enjoyed my chicken dish. Our waitress was very helpful and charming.
11/20/2013 4:00:00 PM
I had the shrimp jhalfrezi and it was very good. This is a dish I have also had at several other restaurants. For Indian food, the price range is on the high side. Also, I tried ordering sorbet for dessert and they did not have any of the three kinds listed on the menu.
11/21/2013 4:00:00 PM
I've been to Tantric multiple times and keep going back. It's a really good Indian restaurant.

Great food, good ambiance
Came here for Thanksgiving dinner. The decor and ambiance was very nice and fitting. The service was very good and food was delicious. The portions were good sized for the price. I would definitely comeback here next time I'm in Boston.

The place to go after a show
Delicious! We like spicy, but the "medium" here is pretty intense...ask them to amp it up more if you dare. We chose this place mostly because it was the only table for 8 I could find to reserve near the theaters after the matinee. Now I'm glad we didn't get in somewhere else. It was nice and quiet here, great food, great wine, great service, great night! Try the cauliflower appetizer!

WE had a great dinner and waiter was friendly and not intrusive.
11/29/2013 4:00:00 PM
All the obligatory Indian dishes were on the menu plus some gems. The flatbread was outstanding. We tried to order one of the two dinners for two on the menu but were told they were not available weekends. Wish the menu just said so, would have saved the clunkiness. The waitress was sweet and very responsive. We were seated in a small room in the back of the restaurant away from the main room which was busy and fairly crowded. Request a table in the back room if you can.

Tantric is a neighborhood favorite for us. The food is consistently delicious and the ambiance is extremely pleasant. Would recommend this restaurant highly.

Best Indian food in Boston!
I've been here and reviewed these guys a number of times. Each time I go just gets better and better! Two things you absolutely HAVE to try.
Gobi Manchurian. Request it well done and extra crispy and your mind will be blown by the sheer flavor explosion!
Mango Clove martini. Ridiculous combo that is just perfect!

We had a group of 6 for dinner. We were seated immediately and got immediate attention for our drink orders. The server was fantastic, he provided us with many helpful suggestions for drinks, appetizer and entree orders. We ordered a wide variety of items and each was very delicious. We also chose a wide variety of spice level from very mild to very spicy. We had a great time and everything was served as we wanted it. I was very impressed with our waiter.
