The owner of this place is usually our waiter and I love that. He knows everything about his menu and clearly loves his job. Both times we have dined here, he selected meats and cheeses for our charcuterie as we were having a tough time choosing. He was also really great at suggesting wines. And the pasta we had was amazing. This place is a gem.

Great vibe and great wine.
Great vibe and great wine. Didnt try any of their food (even though I had to star it due to open table rules - bit silly) but will do next time.

One of my favorites in NYC!
I have been here several times because the food is nothing short of amazing, the wine list is extensive and fantastic, and the service is great! In the ten or so times I must have gone to In Vino within the last few months, I cannot even think of one small complaint. It's a neighborhood gem that serves amazing Italian food. Honestly, don't even waste your time going to some fancy well known Italian restaurant for quality Italian cuisine-- In Vino will give you so much more bang for the buck and the atmosphere is so much more authentic than a lot of places I have been to. Love love love this place!

Great food, loud music
Food and wine were excellent. However, the music was louder than necessary.

This was my second time at In Vino in the past two years and they never disappoint! The food is always excellently prepared, the servers are quite knowledgable about the extensive wine list, and the atmosphere is cozy and comfortable. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an excellent Italian dinner!

I picked this restaurant because I wanted to try their lamb ragu...and I was not disappointed! Our server knew both the extensive wine list and menu well and was able to make very informed recommendations. The food was flavorful and fresh and delicious! Quite easily one of my new favorite restaurants!

Lovely ambience with friendly
Lovely ambience with friendly personable staff. The owner was there and sent a glass of wine to the table for me to try while I was waiting for the other guests. He later came by to see how the dinner was going. I have been here three times, and it is a perfect spot for a quiet dinner. They play 60's hits and jazz in the background. The ravioli with mushroom, truffle sauce is the best.

Tom Waits would love it
Waaaay East in the East Village, there is a place where you'd expect to sit next to a rocker. A gritty rocker who appreciates great wines and superb food, that is. Because Il Vino has a wine list almost as big as the phone book (remember phone books?) and a menu that, while small, offers some pretty delicious items. But first, the ambiance: you're greeted at the door of this cozy cave-like space by a long-haired handsome guy. You taste the wine, a delicious red from a region in Italy you've never heard of, much less been to. It went down perfectly with the osso bucco and the rack of lamb. Both were amazingly good. Just the thing to enjoy while listening to Tom Waits.

Delicious - service could be improv
Everyone in my party LOVED their food. THe Lasagna, the Osso bucco, the Burata, just great. The wait staff could have been a tiny bit more attentive (we had to 'get their attention' to get water, 2nd of drinks) - other than that great food and value!

Always a wonderful time
I've been to in vino several times and have never had a bad meal or experience. It's one of my favorite places. The ravioli is a must!

Great food and resonably priced
My boyfriend and I trucked it to NYC to have a dinner and see a show for a birthday celebration. Although In Vino was a great restaurant, I wouldn't recommend it if you need to be in the theatre district at a specific time. It took us about 45 minutes to get to the show via a cab.
However, the experience and the food was great. We HIGHLY recommend the truffle ravioli. It simply melted in your mouth and the flavors were amazing. We started out with 2 appetizers and a salad then shared 2 different pasta dishes. Unfortunately we didn't have time for dessert, but the bill was very reasonable for what we got.
The atmosphere is very romantic and just perfect for what we were looking for.

Apres theater for party of five
Regarding atmosphere: Although the seats are wooden and could not be considered sumptuous, we were comfortable. The ceiling is a curved stucco grotto-like affair about 18 feet up. The overall ambience is cozy and intimate. When the place fills up, the noise level rises, but we could still talk.
We had a liter bottle of chianti which was very good and enough for five of us to have about a glass a half. Dinner (3 apps and 5 pasta entrees) and wine came to about $150 before tip - an amazing value. Portions were moderate except for the lasagna which was large. Great pasta.
This place attracts a young, hip crowd and although our group is a few years away from getting theirs hips replaced we felt comfortable and enjoyed In Vino.

Excellent quality. Keep coming
Excellent quality. Keep coming back for more, and the gnocchi keep getting better.

The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Wines are private import and focus is on Italy. The staff is young, friendly and unpretentious yet passionate about wine and food.

Service was just OK- we felt ignored for most of the experience. Also there was no heat on so it was pretty freezing in the restaurant. Food was great though!

Took my wife here on our first date. Love going as the food is amazing, and the wine is equally as good!
