When I say "historic", I don't mean the Revolutionary War historic, but the tradition of serving comfort food, in the old warehouse building, without alot of ceremony or fussiness from the waitstaff. They ask what you want, answer your questions (often with lots of personality that is often mistaken for rudeness), bring your food, and do all that is required and expected from the service side. The kitchen always does a great job at preparing the best: Clam chowder, best strawberry shortcake, the best shepard's pie, the best fish sandwiches and everything else.
We alwasy make at least one stop at Durgin Park when we are in town.

The Prime Rib - WOW
We arrived in Boston for a 4 generation baseball trip, heard about Durgin-Park and gave it a try. The food was great and the servings were generous. We were seated quickly and the waiting staff was helpful and prompt. We had a great meal and would come back again if in Boston.

Good solid food
While visiting Boston, went to Durgin Park because of a visit at least 50 years ago. Same building and wonderful servers. It was a very slow evening. The food was very good, not too much fancy stuff but just good food. Very reasonable prices.

Great service! Simply prepared
Great service! Simply prepared but delicious food!

I've been coming to Durgin Park since I was a kid and, while I was disappointed to see Faneuil Hall has become such a gross tourist trap (instead of a lovely food hall/farmers' market), Durgin Park did not disappoint in any way. It remains solid in food, with surprisingly reasonable prices for the portion size, and the Indian Pudding was just as I remembered it. Our waitress was terrific, even managing to juggle two beers and three glasses of wine in one hand. I kid you not. The only major change I noted on the menu was more grilled options for fish and local brews -- plus a better wine selection. All good.

I grew up in Dorchester and have travelled the world. When I return to Boston Durgins is always my first choice of restaurants to dine at.
It has maintained its tradition of fine food, interesting ambiance, and the best wait staff. I had my first prime rib there when I was 12 and 50 years later it still brings the air of a neighborhood restaurant. All I can say is do not miss the opportunity to experience this very unique Boston tradition. For me it's "always Durgin Park."

The food never disappoints.
The food never disappoints. A classic place that we frequent on Father's Day each year and when friends come to town.

Time to remember
Had a wonderful time here with my husband and grown children 23 to 29. My husband remembered coming here as a child before the Red Sox games and wanted to relive that time. So for Father's Day we went here to eat. We were not disappointed. The portions are huge and the food was great!!! Go Durgin Park you are Boston Strong.

Durgin Park has been around forever! With 6pm reservation there were very few people there. Hope it picked up a bit. The food was still delicious, staff very friendly and helpful. It lost a lot of it's ambiance without the gruff act the staff used to put on. Oh well...still worth going to!
6/20/2013 4:00:00 PM
something for everyone
local fish was amazing! service was excellent and very attentive and personable. saw that we would be more comfortable in the air conditioned space so they moved us with pleasure. lots of food variety with seafood and prime rib. good kids menu.great atmosphere and perfect for large parties. reservations made it easy although not that busy on a Wed night early

Great food in a historical venue
The portions are very generous but the quality of the food was maintained. Lots of local flavor in both the menu, the staff, and your fellow diners. It was our first trip to Boston but if we return, we'd come back to Durgin Park.

It was a VERY hot day and
It was a VERY hot day and pretty crowded. We had to wait a little longer than usual to get served, but Lola took great care of us as soon as she could. We had lots of cold water and plenty of iced tea to help cool us off. The food was very good and I can see why this place has been here for so long. At the end of our meal we were offered complimentary desserts because of our wait. This is a fun place and the people are great. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in Boston!!

A Touch of Old Boston
Durgin Park is a must visit for any stay in the Boston area. Despite the "salty" reputation of the food servers, I have always found them fun and entertaining. They even had the whole room singing "Happy Birthday" to my daughter. This is a very special memory. Please don't ever change!

Delightful Prime Rib
After seeing this on "Steak Paradise" or one of those other shows, we knew we had to go...the prime rib just looked great, and it honestly looked like a Boston institution. We didn't do much research about it, just found the place online and made a reservation. The actual restaurant leaves you wanting more...for a steak place, we were seated at a communal table with others, and it was definitely not the pretentious white table cloth of other steak houses. It was not fancy, but the food was good. We had the Durgin Cut along with the bacon wrapped scallops...skip the scallops and eat up. Price was good, and we had a great time over all.

Wonderful roast beef! And,
Wonderful roast beef! And, the fish chowder is delicious as well.

Durgin-Park is a centuries-old restaurant at 340 Faneuil Hall Marketplace in downtown Boston. C1827. Durgin-Park maintains the tradition of communal seating at long tables and has only changed head chefs a handful of times in its history. The food is great and the portions are embarrassingly huge. Not a romantic place as it is loud, boisterous and the ambiance is definitely not for romance.
7/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
This restaurant has been around since 1827 for a reason, because the food is outrageous. The history, the ambiance and especially the food, this restaurant is a must go to if in the area.

What a great experience!
My wife and I dined at Durgin park years ago and it was a good experience. This time was even better! We were looking for authentic Boston Fare and this place delivered! Our server was the nicest woman and the food was out of this world. I had a cup of tasty clam chowder and the Yankee Pot Roast. The clam chowder was the best out of all of the restaurants I experienced on this trip in New England and the Pot Roast was soft and tender and full of flavor. It had delicious gravy and super good potatoes.
My wife had the cod and that was light and flaky and tasted really good.
I would fully recommend this to anyone in the area!

One of Boston's best Family spots
This place is great. My girlfriend's family was in town and we brought them here to give them a taste of true Boston restaurants. It's a bit touristy and gimmicky, but the food was excellent and the server was prompt and attentive. For 6 adults, with drinks, we got out of there for around $300. Plenty of good options for the meat eater, seafood lover, and anyone else looking for a good meal. They sat us right away and we had a terrific time. Thanks!
8/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
It has been 30 yrs since we have been there, food as remembered just great. Good staff and interesting people to talk to. Always have the steamers.

Old Time Favorite
My kids love coming here. It's not the gruff place I knew when I was a kid, so it's fun to come back to. Food is still good, though sometimes priced higher than it should. Love the Prime Rib and beer selection is terrific. I've come back just to pick up the steak sauce (which they bottle while you wait). Yum!

Outstanding as usual
I took my boss and another business associate to Durgin Park. It was their first time in Boston and I find that any time I have a first time visitor, Durgin Park is the place to go. As usual, the waitress knocked it out of the park. She was friendly, engaging, fun to banter with, and gave my associates some excellent recommendations on food. I do not recall the last time I saw piece of prime rib as large as my boss had. I had no sense that he could possibly finish it. He did, with gusto!
If a quirky atmosphere, fun service, and great food is what you're looking for, Durgin Park stands out not only in Boston but probably across the US.

Always enjoy going to Durgin
Always enjoy going to Durgin Park when in Boston. The food is excellent and good portions. I recommend the clam chowder, a House specialty, along with Yankee Pot Pie, another house specialty. Great location in Quincy Market near Fanueil Hall.

Perfect Historic Boston Hot Spot
My parents were in town and we took them to Durgin Park at my dad's request--he had been there as a child in the 50's, back as an adult in the 80's, and now as a grandparent in the 2010's. It was every bit as good of an experience as he had hoped for--you can see the activity in the Faneuil Hal Marketplace area below, and the tables were long like he remembered them, and the food was classic Boston fare: Great clam chowder, pot roast, crab cakes, Indian pudding dessert, and of course, Boston beans (when in "Beantown..."). Even my kids loved it, who are typically picky eaters. Great overall experience!

We have liked this restaurant
We have liked this restaurant for fifty years for its authentic New England cuisine.

Great for groups!
Durgin Park is an "experience!" It's fun to share with a group of friends! The food is good, not gourmet. But, Durgin Park doesn't try to be gourmet! Great value! Known for the prime rib and never disappoints!

Always Fun at the Park
Durgin Park gets a bad rap as a tourist trap. Yes, the prices are a bit inflated, but not crazy by Boston standards. The food is great, including the meats as well as the seafood, and the experience is always fun. I think the wait staff has become more mothering than sassy over the years, but your mileage may vary depending on who you get. Its clean and its fun and can get noisy when crowded, but our recent visit was a late Saturday afternoon and all was quiet. Be prepared to be seated picnic style next to other folks at long tables - this is not a romantic candlelit venue.
9/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
We were surprised at the emptiness of Durgin Park even when we left at 7:30. It was a Monday evening, however.
This is a classic, long-established, and still excellent restaurant.
Our waitress was full of Boston beans, which made the experience all the more enjoyable, as well as attentive to our needs.
Food was excellent, even with post-order changes we requested.

Home-y feel and great seafood
This place is well-known in the Faneuil Hall marketplace and has a variety of classic dinner choices that include fresh seafood. Great place for casual family dinners and welcoming atmosphere of Quincy Market surrounds it.

back in the day
Things really haven't changed much at Durgin Park. The restaurant serves classic New England comfort food in a communal type setting. Service was great and the food was fine. Know that you will leave feeing full. The Yankee Pot Roast was excellent.

If you are in to the downtown scene and want a truly great cut of prime rib this is the place to go.

Should not be missed
Durgin Park is a Boston original and a must visit. Don't expect white table cloths but do expect good basic food cooked like it should be in Boston before Quincey Market made the area a tourist destination, easy walk from the T so you don't have to deal with parking,
10/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
Durgin Park is enduring and famous. The prime rib was a treat and well prepared. Service was excellent-very efficient and accomodating

Warm and friendly
We had a wonderful experience being served by Gina who went out of her way to make us feel at home. We were both new to the area and Durgin Park had been recommended to us by a couple of my friends. I had to pass on the roast beef, the specialty, so I could enjoy the Lobster which is not available on the West Coast and I died and went to heaven. Then we sampled several deserts and were again in bliss. All I can say is that when in Boston don't miss Durgin Park.
10/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
A Nostalgic Location
My husband and I each remember going to Durgin Park as children with our families. It is a place of character and great memories. Our waitress was much nicer than I remember them being when I was a child. With all that has changed in Boston, it was wonderful to be someplace so familiar. It was our perfect place to celebrate our 38th anniversary. Our meal was wonderful - including the chowder and strawberry shortcake that we shared.
10/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
I brought my grandparents
I brought my grandparents to this Durgin Park by recommendation of a friend. Their menu had a good variety. 3 of us chose their Prime Rib; it was very good. I was amazed with our server, we had a blonde lady that had been there for over 30 years. She made my grandparents feel right at home. My grandfather didnt like the beer he had ordered, she got him another right away and my grandmother had a issue with her tea, and another was gotten right away. After our meal she sat down with us and shared a brief converstation, making them feel very welcome. She even gave them a hug on their way out. I would definetly bring them back again. The only downfall, was if you sit next to the kitchen on 2nd floor, its very noisy with dishes.

Boston Jem !
If you ever visit Boston Durgin Park is a must stop for dining. Located adjacent to Fanuel Hall it has all of the unique qualities of a home cooked New England meal and a great atmosphere. Don't miss it!

You go to Durgin Park to experience Durgin Park. We were not disappointed. The food was great and reasonably priced, and it was a very enjoyable dining experience.

My Durgin Park Pilgrimage
I visit Boston about every other year and wouldn't consider a trip complete without a dinner at Durgin Park. The Prime Rib is the best and the history is rich. Great place, I'm here bi-annually...
11/8/2013 4:00:00 PM
If you are looking for a traditional New England dinner, this is the place. Some of the items on the menu are not found any where else and my favorite is Indian Pudding. Highly recommend this place to tourists as well as locals. Durgin Park is my "go to" restaurant.

Great for out-of-town guests
Every time family comes to visit me, I take them to Durgin Park. I love this place - it just feels so Boston to me. Plus, you can't beat a good steak!

A Boston night to remember
We were in town for one night and celebrated our daughter's 8th birthday at Durgin-Park. We had a wonderful time! The Yankee pot roast was out of this world delicious. Our waiter was fun and friendly and made a great fuss over our daughter, leading the entire dining room in the Birthday Song for her. The atmosphere is cozy and New Englandy, and it was just a quintessential Boston experience. We will come again!

The food was excellent - Very "New England" menu. My party of six each ordered something different and everyone enjoyed their selection. Staff was very quick, efficient. A true GEM!

A touristy place, but affordable
We ate at Durgin Park before Blink! at Fanueil Hall. It was crowded. We had a reservation but had to wait. The food was pretty good and the prices were good for the area. It was a fun atmosphere.
11/22/2013 4:00:00 PM
I had the roast beef, which was outstanding, melted in my mouth. My friend had the Calamari, and another the crab cakes with the Clam Chowder, equally outstanding. And my last friend had the "special" which was a lobster roll...no compliants. Great food, reasonably priced, good service, great location.
11/25/2013 4:00:00 PM
Great historic restaurant
I hadn't been at Durgin park in 30years, it still has that old time feel to it. my group had a variety of meals, scrod, ribs, lobster salad and chicken pot pie, that were excellent except for the fried Ipswich clams, which were old, dry and had no flavor. the Indian pudding was as good as it always been.
11/26/2013 4:00:00 PM
Eight of the family went to Durgin Park for their Yankee Thanksgiving dinner. It was just what we were looking for. Traditional Yankee food, lots of diners and a terrific waitress. The food was good, the service was attentive and if the weather had cooperated and it had been a tad warmer for walking outside, it would have been perfect. Would definitely do this again next year.
11/27/2013 4:00:00 PM
We take our children, spouses, and their children to Durgin Park for a 17-person family dinner every time they are in town. Most recently last Sunday. Always a wonderful time. Wait staff interacts with family. Everyone looks forward to it.
