Here for restaurant week!
Here for restaurant week! A drink order got a little mixed up, but was straightened out quickly (although the "extra" drink was taken back - always nice when they just leave it!). The tapas were great.

Maybe things were too busy, I had an open table reservation and had to wait 30 minutes after I was scheduled to be seated. The waitress was barely ever around it took forever to order dessert.

The food was absolutely fantastic.
The food was absolutely fantastic. We were lucky enough to order their smokey seafood paella and it was a treat!!!
The tapas before the paella were delicious as well. The battered strawberries were incredible and lighter than I anticipated. My husband doesn't usually sing the praises of the meal while we are still in the restaurant but he couldn't help himself! So grateful to have discovered this fun, delicious and authentic tapas restaurant in Boston in one of it's poshest neighborhoods.

Hidden Gem in Back Bay
Although we were off to rough start in the beginning (we had made a reservation for 8:30pm and weren't seated until around 9:15pm), the service and amazing food more than made up for it! Not to mention a round of sangria free of charge! The food was absolutely delicious, and it was wonderful getting to try so many different dishes for a reasonable price. I was with a group of 6 people, and were all able to converse freely and easily with one another since the space was well organized for all group types. Scrumptious food, tasty sangria, great ambiance, perfect, relaxing setting for a Friday night outing! Or any time really. Enjoy!

Great food and friendly service
Enjoyed our dinner at Tapeo. The tapas was great, priced a little high but it was good. The view from upstairs overlooking Newbury is great.

We continue to come back to
We continue to come back to Tapeo!! We make it a point to share this gem with friends that have not experienced the restaurant. It is great getting such a positive reaction to all the tapas selections for those new diners. The stuffed squid with black ink is incredible!! Service, as always, was friendly, patient and informative. Never feel we are being rushed. And the Sangria always keeps everyone smiling!! Thanks for ANOTHER great dining experience.

I love this restaurant and find myself returning consistently when I return to Boston, even when I feel I should try something new! The food is wonderful and I am always happier trying many small dishes than having one large plate before me. Diverse options, fair pricing, delicious food! I have been going to Tapeo and before that, Dali, for many years, beginning in the 90's (if I recall).

Outdoor dining - early evening
A very good tapas bar. Four of us had eight tapas and a bottle of Rioja. Several of the tapas were ones we hadn't tried before and seven of the eight were excellent - thel last one only so-so. Of course, sitting outdoors and watching the Newbury street scene is lots of fun and not too noisy except for a few obnoxiously loud motorcycles. Service was relaxed but not overly so and very friendly. Highly recommend for a nice summer night. We went early (5 PM) with reservations - seated immediately.

fun place, good tapas
I've eaten at Tapeo twice and enjoyed it both times. For atmosphere, I like the upstairs a little better for being more open with better light. The menu isn't particularly extensive for a tapas restaurant, and I wouldn't mind a few more vegetable dishes, but the standard Spanish tapas are there, and everything I sampled was good. The service was friendly and efficient, and the food is reasonably priced.

Outstanding menu, great atmosphere
Food was excellent, and both my date and I had great wine over creative plates.
5/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
Large selection of traditional
Large selection of traditional (e.g. spicy garlic shrimp, croquettes) and non-traditional tapas (fried shrimp). The small plates are great for sharing - a fun evening with a pitcher of sangria and good friends and conversation will make this a place to return to.

Delicious and enjoyable
Every dish we tried was excellent, including the paellas valenciana. Worked very well as a setting for romantic dinner for two. Servers were friendly, and attentive without being pushy. Not cheap but we felt the prices and quality were well matched.

This place has amazing Tapas. The sangria is a bit expensive but if you're looking for a good dining time this is a great place. The Tapas is delicious and the sangria is so good. I recommend the stuffed chicken!

Fun outdoor dining
We just had dinner on a Friday night, and every member of our party was pleased with their choices. We had a vegetarian with us and she liked the lemon pasta and goat cheese with honey. I enjoyed the shrimp and artichokes. Drinks were tasty during this Boston heat wave. We all tried different cocktails, but I think everyone thought the mojito was the best. We stayed for dessert too - I thought the crepe with berries and chocolate was perfect - just light enough on a hot summer night. It was a bit pricey, but that seems typical for a Newbury Street location. Fun people watching. Would recommend for a fun way to experience Boston on a warm summer night.

Great food and fast service
Admittedly, we went early because we had a six year old with us, but the place wasn't crowded at 6:30 on a Friday and we were out in an hour. Food is delicious and even our daughter loved it.

Cozy and Comfortable
Recently on vacation, my husband and I were looking for a relaxing dinner after a busy travel day. We wanted something small, so a dinner of tapas sounded great. Our waitress recommended the pork tenderloin, chorizo, and lamb chops - which were all excellent. The Lamb Chops had a surprising mint flavor, while the tenderloin was complimented by the rich blue cheese sauce and mushrooms.
We also enjoyed the fried eggplant and Goat Cheese with tomato and basil.

Something to savor
The tapas were varied, well prepared, and delicious. Our waiter was wonderful. A wonderful summer dining outside experience.

A great birthday lunch!
I went there with my girlfriend for her birthday. Gabriel waited on us and he was awesome. Very attentive, friendly and offered some great suggestions. The Goatcheese with honey, beef empanadas, red sangria, all was very tasty. Thanks for the nice experience.
7/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
Tapeo is fun but expensive.
Tapeo is fun but expensive. The variety of dishes is creative and stimulating. Some dishes were superior to others. For the same price, we could have eaten almost anywhere in Boston. Very noisy.
7/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
Went for a night of tapas. Good salads and amazing tapas. Loved the wine. Later vintage than listed so received a discount. Two plus hour dinner with wife and never felt rushed. Would love to try it when it is fiendishly cold out. Would be warm and cozy.

One of my favorites in Boston
Tapeo is one of my favorite restaurants in town. I took my girlfriend to dinner on Friday night, and had no problem getting a reservation that morning. They had a table for us immediately, and the inside was about half full (the outside was completely full). We enjoyed a pitcher of red sangria (which is fantastic), and had 4 tapas plates. I have never had a bad meal there, and that night was no exception. The food is great, and I always leave there feeling satisied but not stuffed. It's reasonably priced (given that it's on Newbury street), and we were in and out in about an hour. The service was great - not overbearing, but not invisible either. All in all, I'd definitely recommend this place.

Tapas in Back Bay Boston
Made a last minute decision on a Saturday night to try and get reservations here and we did! Place was a little noisy with several large and rowdy groups but with a table change enjoyed the evening....attentive server and delicious tapas- especially the scallops in a saffron creme sauce- use the bread to get every last drop of the sauce...enjoyed the mushroom dish and the lobster/ crab ravioli...worth checking out for meal options other than seafood....
8/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great "Go To" Place
The service was a little slow on the drinks given the amount of people (had a late dinner), however, our server was polite and friendly. The food was amazing and the atmosphere great. We sat outside along Newbury St, so aside from the occasional "louder than normal" individual the area was great for a romantic dinner. We will certainly go back as we left very happy and added to a great evening.

Tapas were very good! Went for Restaurant week and had a delicious meal!

I do love it here!! Great tapas and fun to go with friends and share and taste all the food! Always delicious!!
8/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
We booked because it was close tour hotel...turned out to be restaurant week, which isn't always good. IT WAS FABULOUS, too bad we live in Philadelphia, we could make it a regular spot!
8/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
cute tapas spot
Food was great, wait staff super sweet and the evening was perfect. Came with a group of 8 for an early dinner Tuesday evening at 5pm. Seated immediately and when I asked for drink recommendations the waitress gave the perfect one. Great Restaurant Week find. Definitely would go back for a special occasion.
8/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
We had guests from out of town and a great meal with good conversation and wonderful sangria then walked newbury at night. A perfect evening. We are headed back for sure! 2 plates per women was plenty!

one of our favorites
We love Tapeo and often suggest it when meeting friends or family in Boston for a meal. The food is always excellent and their sangria is delicious!
The only complaint we'd have this time is that our server made a few errors, bringing wrong drinks and the wrong dishes. This wouldn't be a problem, mistakes happen, except that we were charged for tapas we did not order that were brought out in error!
9/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
Tapas was great food was quick the calamari and cheese dish was really nice.
9/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
Still as amazing as I remember!
It has been a long while since I had been to Tapeo, I was there January 2010 right around new years eve or day!
The food was outstanding then. Three of us were expatriates who found the cuisine fabulous and reminded us of our favorite dishes from over seas. I find it is a wonderful place to share with people who don't really try anything out of the ordinary. Simple American food, or Chinese, or Mexican that is sub par. So I wanted to take a friend there who is a VERY picky eater, but I knew even she would love to try this food. She did, she loved everything she ate, even something that had a trade mark food she is temperamental about, since it was SO luscious in flavor she didn't notice at all. Life long customer here!

Tasty Tapas on Newbury!
Great place for a date night and to enjoy a variety of foods.
9/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
The spinach, portabella mushroom
The spinach, portabella mushroom and artichoke tapas dishes were excellent. The popular garlic shrimp was tasty but a little too oily for us.
9/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
Some excellent and some good dishes
We ordered many of the vegetarian plates, and particularly enjoyed the patatas bravas, tortilla espanola, goat cheese and salad. the short ribs were excellent, and the spicy shrimp were good.
there was no fruit in the white sangria, which was a bit of a disappointment. No idea if there's any fruit in the red sangria, but isn't there supposed to be fruit in sangria?
10/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
Loved this neighborhood spot on Newberry St! Had a great assortment of dishes with a group of friends, with stand-outs being the scallops in a saffron cream sauce, the goat cheese and honey, and the short ribs. Was very pleased that every choice of tapas was great; usually with tapas there's one that no one cared for, but not here! There were many versions of sangria, but since sangria isn't MY thing I got a wine flight for $12, and that was perfect. The atmosphere was on the loud side, but not impossible to hear. Would visit again!

Good for vegetarians
My husband and I are always searching for restaurants that offer more than one token vegetarian dish, and that are creative with vegetables and give them center stage instead of just tacking sweet potato fries onto the menu. Tapeo doesn't have a lot of vegetarian offerings but it's more than most, and they're beautifully executed and delicious. We especially love the spinach and baby potatoes tapas. The vegetarian paella was better the second day when we ate the substantial leftovers at home, after the flavors had combined a little more. It's a beautiful mix of vegetables, but could be more flavorful. But we'll always return to Tapeo for the Tapas and the charming atmosphere.

A very good meal
Two of us went at 730p on a Saturday. Reservations worked great, were seated right away. It was loud upstairs, and the couple seated next to us were doing their best to add to that, but wasn't overbearing. For two of us, we split a pitcher of sangria and had 7 plates, plus dessert, leaving stuffed. Highly recommend the saffron scallops. Excellent cafe' con leche as well.
11/8/2013 4:00:00 PM
Great location on Newbury street! food was really good. My husband doesn't normally opt for tapas but I convinced him and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. Staff were really good without being over attentive. Food was hot and came up at a comfortable speed - sometimes I think tapas can come up a bit fast - but this was perfect. We had a lovely bottle of Rioja which we both felt was great value for money.

My more in depth review was too long so i`ll give you the skinny.
Food = delicious. I`m super picky and hesitant about new foods. But this place had me trying new things and loving it.
Drinks = my Jack and coke was well made, properly mixed. My lady and her friends had a few varieties of Sangria. They were very pleased with their drinks.
Wait staff = we had a large party and spread over 2 tables. both waitresses were excellent. not a single complaint about them.
the manager, or whomever he was, was incredibly rude and not at all accommodating or even remotely courteous. he had no patience from moment one and spoke down to us and with an incredibly poor attitude. He was, by far, the least friendly person i may have ever met.
11/14/2013 4:00:00 PM
Always try to fit in a dinner at Tapeo when we are in town. The drinks (sangria and esp Caipirnhas) are excellent Small plates are always fun esp with a group. The goat cheese in honey never disappoints. …
Only negative would be this last time music was really loud.

Great place for tapas
Wife and I had a great dining experience here on a recent visit to Boston. Highly recommended especially if you are staying in the Back Bay area where it is an easy walk.

Beautiful restaurant and food
The restaurant itself is beautiful and wait staff was attentive, but not invasively so. Our water glasses were always subtly refilled and we were asked about our experience at the appropriate times. Our waitress had a gift for interrupting only at conversation lulls. The baked goat cheese in tomato sauce was wonderful. The crab and lobster raviolis were very good but could have been seasoned a bit better--needed a pinch more salt to really bring out those awesome flavors. The artichoke hearts are oily in a wonderful way, flawlessly seasoned: simple and delicious. The sizzling garlic shrimp is excellent. This restaurant does a great job of preparing relatively simple things excellently. Definitely recommend it!
