We Will Be Back
Unfortunately there were only two of us so trying to decide what to order was a huge challenge. There were so many great items - ahi tuna tacos, beet salad and the miso fish! We didn't have a chance to try the ribs or the butternut ravioli. We had the best server. He encouraged us to take our time ordering and when we thought the steak tartare was too salty he promptly offered to bring a new one with the anchovy sauce on the side.

We loved sampling our small plates and found all the dishes to be tasty. Will definitely go back for another meal.

Great place to gather
Our group of six ordered the 10 course group set menu of small plates for the table. What a great way to try and enjoy the variety of menu options. Three of us are vegetarians and were pleased to find that 8 out of 10 worked for us. It's a great place for friends to gather, drink, and enjoy a good meal. Great music too. They have a nice array of draft and bottled beer as well as good wine list. Their staff are extremely attentive and friendly. We all really enjoyed the evening and will come back.

A Mission treasure
If you are in the Mission district, put Andalu on your short list.
We were there for a Saturday brunch. The menu offered many items along with 'Bottomless Bloody Mary" (limited to two hours of imbibing) for $15.00. My only problem was the music that was played at a level way beyond background music.

Great small plates---actually
Great small plates---actually three sizes of "small"; beef cheeks were outstanding as were coca cola ribs----salad with hearts of palm, avocado & pink grapefruit also delicious....oh, & the duck confit dumplings were ambrosia! Delightfully varied and priced wine menu...loved the whole experience...would definitely return....

The restaurant serves great
The restaurant serves great tapas. My favorite were, ahi tartar tacos, grilled corn, steak tartar, and shrimp "Pil Pil". Dessert was great too. My husband loved the donut holes with hot cocoa. Hot cocoa came to us cold, but was still amazingly good. It was like sipping melted chocolate. Delicious if you love chocolate!

Great Tapas, lively enjoyable ambie
We were four, fit perfectly in the high (table, bench and stools) corner window seating. We all shared everything, and the quality and pacing of Andalu's tapas worked really well for that. Our server was very friendly, checked in helpfully as we'd deliberately made an initial small plate order and then added as we knew what else we wanted. A really happy evening.

Good food, but dishes came slowly
All of our food was excellent, but our main dishes took forever to arrive! Our server explained that the kitchen had gotten backed up, and did comp us an almond plate, so they did attempt to rectify the situation. The roasted corn, duck dumplings, shrimp "pil-pil" and beef cheeks were particular standouts. They seem a bit understaffed - our server took a long time to get to us because of her other table responsibilities.

Great little noshes
We love to share and pass food around to each other, and Andalu suited our group of four very well. Delicious food and great service provided by our server Mortimer. I always appreciate it when a server recommends specific dishes and they were all wonderful.

Another fantastic dining experience
Good times with friends, great food, and Steak tartar out of this world, fresh selections and wonderful deserts all with very reasonable prices…very attentive service by staff. Highly Recommend and I/We will of course be back soon!

Best dining of our visit!
We were in SF for only a few days. We hit several highly recommended restaurants and none held a candle to Andalu! The wine list and cocktail menu were fantastic and the food was nothing short of exceptional. I tried the Spanish progression of wines at the owner's recommendation and was thrilled. I am an aspiring connoisseur, so true wine snobs give me palpitations, but Andalu's owner and staff shared their expertise without snark or condescension. This place is an absolute gem. I recommend it to anyone that wants an excellent meal in a lovely setting with great wine.

We went for the Dine About Town event and were amazed by the food. This was the best Dine About Town restaurant that we have been to and many others were wonderful. The menu was fixed based on the number of people at the table. They brought us an amazing quantity of different tapas dishes. Everything was delicious.

great time but they didnt give us opentable points credit.

Brunch in the Mission
We were attending an afternoon performance in the hood so looked for a brunch option nearby. We were pleased with our choice of Andalu. Food and service were fine, and the scene was lively. Partner said his hash here was better than previous favorite.
6/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
a very good place to eat
Do try this place for a wonderful Mission experience. Inventive menu, well executed. Small plates give you the opportunity to taste many things. Not for fine dining, but great for a dining experience.
6/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
amazing food...every time
amazing food...every time a new dish arrived we were blown away...beautifully presented and delicious!

Awesome Dining Experience
Ate here During the Dine About Town Week and could not believe the amazing meal we had. First of all the portion sizes were outrageously generous..not tasting size, but full practically full size meals! We were full before we got to the entrees! But more incredible was the presentation and flavor of each dish. From the polenta fries and shrimp pil pil to the beet salad and the chicken picata, each dish got better and better, ending with a delightful dessert trio. Honestly, when I come back when its not during Dine About Town, its going to be tough to decide what to choose...Guess I'll have to make more than one trip!

Good Food, Odd Billing
Good food, great service, but very odd billing. We had a large group, but if one person in our group ordered a special plate, everyone had to order it. Also, they had a drink special for $15--all you could drink for 2 hours--but, again, if one person ordered it everyone had to, and we had 17 people in our party. Not the best way to bill people. I wouldn't go to this restaurant again with a big group, but if we had 4-6 people, I'd definitely recommend it.
6/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
Andalu has an awesome drink menu full of strong cocktails with great flavor. The food is great as well, especially like the Ahi tacos.
6/15/2013 4:00:00 PM
Perfect for large parties!
I had never been before but booked a table for a large party (15 people) and was beyond impressed with the service! The all you can drink sangria/beer along with the pre-fixe per head menu was perfect and made the process a breeze. Normally with large parties you sacrifice good food but the menu was perfect with a sampling of all their most popular dishes. PLENTY of food & great service!
6/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
Go for the tasting menus!
First my buddy & I tried the wine-pairing tasting menu, this time the tequila one. Both terrific.
6/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
The Right Time
It's a good thing we arrived shortly after noon on a Sunday as Andalu was pretty empty with earlier arrivals leaving n order to avoid having to pay for parking. Other reviews have mentioned the service problem. We had minor problems including having to reminder the server that polenta fries came with my order and having to almost chase her down for a check. By the time we left people were
waiting outside because of their of help. Food itself was very good, very generous portions, and very reasonable prices considering
the quality and quantity. Large menu containing many interesting choices. Would definitely come back, but would make sure it
was at a time when there less likely to be busy.

I had a birthday party with 16 friends at Andalu. We loved the service, the food, and left extremely happy. All my friends want to go back a.s.a.p.!!

Andalu never disappoints.
Andalu never disappoints.
The duck confit dumplings, steak tar tar, and ahi tar tar tacos are all excellent and highly recommended
They also make a great mojito :)

Great place, great food, great service. Really pleased to have found this place while on vacation in San Fransisco. Would highly recommend it.

Great tasting menu with tequila
The atmosphere was dark and vibrant. Staff members were all attentive with contagious energy. Food: Refreshing Ahi tartare tacos; Crispy and Savory Polenta moon wedges (simple but most unique to me); garlic and lime shrimp a little too tangy, but gets your saliva flow ready for the perfectly dressed Caesar salad; Chicken mole had a lot complex spice flavors, but was a mouthful of comfort; the coca cola ribs was more sweet, but tender off the bone; amazing experience with tequila flavors.
7/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
I loved the food the most. Great presentation and very tasty. The place was almost full and the people all looked happy. Loved the décor as well. The staff was friendly and attentive. I will come back again and again.

Great place to dine
Andalu is a great place to go as a group, couple or even yourself to sit at the bar. They have comfortable seating with a beautiful setting. On the ground level the noise level can get a little high, however it keeps up the excitement of the restaurant. If you are looking for more quiet romantic type of setting then the second floor is the best spot.
8/3/2013 12:00:00 AM
Very good food. Very noisy.
Very good food. Very noisy. Plates are enough for 2

We came to Andalu and did the Kenwood tasting menu. This involved 4 courses (I believe) and was matched very generously with wine and cocktails. The 'small plates', which I believe are their specialty were very tasty and fresh. The cocktails were strong and the wine good. The environment at this restaurant is very lively and would be fun to come to with a group of people. The service was friendly and fast. We will come back.

Mortimer was the man!
Our waiter could not have been better! I always love Andalu, but Mortimer have us amazing suggestions and made the meal even more special! Fondue with the skirt steak? Unreal! My date and I could not speak as we ate because of the ecstasy of the flavor combinations! Fabulous wine to top it off? Spectacular! Andalu is always solid but this particular waiter made it even more excellent.
8/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
great cocktails, great food. I recommend coming later- doesn't really "Come alive" until at least 8pm.
9/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
Small plates to please everyone
We love all the choices Andalu offers on their varied menu. There is something to please everyone's tastes. The portions are usually splittable, and one can always order more anywhere through the service. We love their wine flights; for a very reasonable price (around $15), you get three generous pours from a variety of choices- all sparkly, all red, all white, all European, etc. Service is friendly but not intrusive. It's hard to recommend any one thing because we like to order different things each time we go; we always enjoy the fondue and the brussels sprouts. It's a great place to take guests for something fun and casual, yet satisfying. And it's close to a BART station so you don't have to worry about parking.

Live, energetic atmosphere
I took my bestfriend here for his birthday , but it seems more of a date restaurant. We shared the coca cola brisket, shrimp pil pil, fried mac and cheese, and donut holes. The coca cola brisket had too much vinegar for my liking, but the shrimp pil pil, fried mac and cheese, and donut holes were DELICIOUS. The donut holes were AWESOME! You get two small cups of hot cacao with the donut holes. I will DEFINITELY be back!

Nice local tapas place.
Good food in relaxed atmosphere with good service.

Went here for my bday brunch.
Went here for my bday brunch. Reserved thru Open Table. Was seated promptly even though we were 15 mins early. Loved the crispy mac n cheese, sangrias and mimosas! The service was very good. She apologized when it took her a while to get our order. The restaurant did seem busy at that time. Overall, I liked my Andalu experience and may come back to try it during dinner hours.

delicious small plates
yummy food, consistently great, wonderful servers and fun ambience.

Friday night fun!
We had an early reservation and the restaurant was empty when we arrived, but we had great service throughout even as the crowds grew and we watched a line form outside. We asked the waiter for recommendations and took them. We enjoyed the food and the wine flights. I recommend having a reservation.

4 Course Treat
We weren't sure we'd be served enough food with this four-course tasting, or that they would have chosen the highest quality items for us to taste. What a great surprise to have scrumptious flavors and great variety in both the food and wine. Thanks!
10/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
Check for Valet!
We had a great meal at Andalu; a perfect place to catch up with friends, but the parking situation is nearly impossible! They only offer valet service when the restaurant is fully booked, so check before you go. We drove around for more than 30 minutes before finding a spot. There is a garage near by, too.
If and when you park, you'll have a fun evening; good food, great ambiance and an interesting neighborhood. A perfect place to linger, talk and share good food.
10/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
Always fun! Try everything!
This is great place for smaller groups to try and share delicious bites. We've been a few times and always love the food. Seriously, everything we've tried has been wonderful. The service is very friendly and they will adjust orders to fit the size of your party for sharing when they can, although they are so busy that we have had mistakes made with our order. Drinks and appetizers out after meal items. Wrong side delivered to our table in such a hurry that we couldn't correct the waiter. We got the correct side later but we also got charged for the wrong one we didn't order. Like I said its a very busy place.
10/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
Very good small plates restaurant
This is an attractive, high-energy restaurant in the Mission. Lots of very good dishes for sharing. There is nice selection of drinks and a reasonably priced wine list. Convenient to the 16th street Bart station. Street parking is very hard to find.
10/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
Lively spot in a hipster Mission
We were given a spot in the upstairs area of the restaurant overlooking the bar..a fun view. There were lots of interesting choices on the tapas menu. Delicious finger foods. I especially loved the roasted brussel sprouts with capers and the coca-cola braised ribs. My friend loved the ahi tacos. My only problem was that I was sitting over a heating vent, so it was fairly uncomfortable.

I had a wonderful evening
I had a wonderful evening at Andalu I had heard it recommended by many friends and finally had the opportunity to go and bring my dad while he was visiting from out of town walking in it was very clean great energy and I especially liked the design and the different levels of seating. We sat and higher chairs and started with the spareribs which were incredible we continued ordering small tapas and took our servers recommendation of the butternut squash ravioli and OMG that was by far my favorite. I would highly recommend this restaurant to friends are family coming to visit and it would be a fun date place as well!

Go there immediately
Made a reservation and they called me that day to tell me they'd overbooked and would be running behind. We showed up 20 minutes late and still had to have a seat at the bar for 15/20 minutes or so. Drinks were great, I recommend the Valencia. No complaints about the food, everything was delicious. For 4 people, we ordered the fondue, brussel sprouts, fried calamari, shrimp pil pil, spare ribs, and butternut squash ravioli. Shrimp Pil Pil was the dark horse, TRY IT! Dessert sampler topped off the meal. Very energetic atmosphere, if I lived anywhere CLOSE to San Fran I'd go back every weekend.
11/8/2013 4:00:00 PM
very good selection of tapas
very good selection of tapas to offer. Unfortunately, the restaurant lost its lease and will be closing at the end of the year. A loss for this community
11/19/2013 4:00:00 PM
Attentive waitress; good cocktails; excellent food. We had barratta, sea bass, brussel sprouts, and sliders. Olives to nibble on which were very tasty, and a dessert sampler for 2. Everything was cooked perfectly and presented nicely. Total bill with tip was $145. We had a coctail each and a $40 bottle of wine so I felt it was pretty good value. The scene was lively with some larger groups. The noise level was not excessive. Worth a visit if you are in the neighbourhood.
11/21/2013 4:00:00 PM
A great table in the window was ready and waiting for us when I approached the hostess. The restaurant has a great ambiance and our waitress was very attentive, but not overly so. The food was delicious as was the house sangria.
I will definitely be going back again due to my good experience and the many remaining menu items that I would love to try!
