You must go to Kous Kous
If you are or will be in San Diego.. you must go to Kous Kous. It was best dinner and dining experience I've had in a long time!

A Great Find
For a nice Maroccan experience and GREAT couscous! Our family has been eating couscous for many years and the one served at Kous Kous is delicious! The merguez are great (not many places carry them in San Diego)and the team makes the experience most enjoyable.

Moroccan gem in Hillcrest
Second time I've been here and I wasn't disappointed! Great food, dim lighting, great ambiance and helpful, friendly waiters. The menu has a varied selection and the cold and hot tea is wonderful. It was a little stuffy and warm when we got there, but the AC was turned immediately when I pointed out how warm it was--the waiter was noticeably warm as well. Location is amazing, as we love Martini's Above 4th, which we went to right after--just a quick elevator ride up. Will be coming to Kous Kous again and again in the near future. Just make sure and call in to reserve a table, ESPECIALLY on the weekends. This place fills up quickly because of its popularity.

Great food, great service,
Great food, great service, and a nice Moroccan feel. My only complaint would be that there was not that much food for how much everything cost. The tagines were delicious (especially the lamb) and the b'stilla roll was off the chain.

A FEAST FOR THE EYES AND STOMACHE
I recommend ordering one of the Feast options. You get a nice variety of different foods and enough to share. Interesting mileau with areas divided providing some privacy and romanticism. Attentive and friendly waiters. The food is delicious and well prepared. The waiter was kind enough to allow switching meat for vegetables when ordering the Feast.

Best Morrocan Restaurant
My wife and I love this place the food is to die for. The service....can't say enough about. Daniel was superb, outgoing and cheery. I strongly recommend this place.

This place is one of the best
This place is one of the best restaurants in San Diego. Incredible food. Friendly conversation, but not invasive service. Highly recommend.

Came across this place when
Came across this place when i first came into town looking up places to dine that weren't "fast food". I was not disappointed. They're menu has choices for everyone, and the food was excellent. The wait staff was great as well. The food was very good, i wouldn't hesitate to visit here again.

The reason I didn't score
The reason I didn't score it 5 stars overal is because of the temperature of the restaurant is too warm. Not extremely uncomfortable, just noticeable very warm. The food, service and atmosphere are all great!!!

I had my birthday dinner here, and it was a great success. All my friends loved it, and several of them came back to this restaurant afterwards because of the wonderful experience. The food is delightful. I love the interior design. It's very dark and romantic. This place would be an excellent date spot.

Amazing, unique food
The quality food matched with stellar service. We went for a birthday dinner Thursday night and were amazed with the new unique flavors. Our waitor was amazing: knowledgeable and very personable with fantastic recommendations.

Very friendly and helpful service. Our waiter, knowing we were relatively new to eating Moroccan food was great about explaining what we were eating. It was a great experience. A little pricey but overall it was great.

Went for Happy hour, got some good deals. I am not a big fan of lamb, but they know how to do it right! They make it seems light! Cannot wait to go back!

Something for everyone
This is a must visit restaurant in Hillcrest. My friend, a very picky eater enjoyed the food. They offer delicious and authentic dishes, decent portions. I'll definitely dine here again.

Couldn't be better - Love it!
This is one of our favorite restaurants. Great food, great service, great ambiance, small and more intimate, great music. Owner very nice and friendly as is the whole staff. We always have a great experience at Kous Kous.

Consistently Good Food & Service
As always, Kous Kous delivered on excellent food and service. And even though we had a Groupon, we like that they treat no differently. Had eggplant app, chicken skewer app and lamb. A lot of food, but we ate it all...too good to stop eating. Would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant.

fun food and atmospherre
The place is pretty funky, starting form that it occupies a basement space, plays and eclectic music selection and shows old movies B&W movies on the wall. The service is extremely friendly. The first couple of times we order from the pre-set "banquets" on the menu, since we did not know how to order. I recommend this on your first time, since you get a sampler of good stuff. This time we knew what we wanted:few tapas and a tagine. Dessert:fruit with rose water. Good stuff!

We love going to Kous Kous
We love going to Kous Kous because they are a great place to go for a late night reservation. The staff are very friendly and know us so well at this point. I love the option of couch seating and the authentic feel of the restaurant to the food. My favorite dish is obviously the slow roasted stuffed Pepper and stuffed Tomato tagine.

Great food & atmosphere!
I highly recommend getting one of the feasts for the table! Food is delicious!

Expand your taste knowledge
Great spot in Hillcrest. Parking is accessible. Great service. The server took the time to explain how the food is prepared and what to expect from the combination of flavors. The ambiance and decour makes to feel as if you are in Morocco. Excellent restaurant.

Great ambiance! Very cute inside and the food was good! The mint tea was delicious and the food was very filling. I had a great time at Kous Kous Moroccan Bistro!

Great food! Having had "the
Great food! Having had "the real deal" in Morocco, I was curious about, whether the food would be authentic or not. Wasn't disappointed: The food was excellent! The only drawback was the size of the portions. We ordered a Moroccan Feast and the portions were smaller than expected, though they did include lots of couscous, rice and mashed potato, but very little fish, shrimp and meat. At USD 44 per person we would have expected more than 4 small shrimps, 4 small lamb chops and 1 small piece of fish (to be shared by 2 people - not per person). Appetizers were great. Excellent service too. Will re-visit but next time try something else.

Great experience, great food
We had an excellent experience at Kous Kous. The server, Damien, was enthusiastic and knowledgeable and spot-on with his suggestions. We had harira soup (excellent with the hot sauce), zaalouks (wonderful), endive pockets (very good), and the veggie berber tagine, which, when sopped up with bread as Damien suggested, was incredible. The couch was a fun change of pace, though a little difficult to reach the table from. We will definitely be back to sample the rest of the menu.

As I said on yelp... you might forget you're in Hillcrest, and think that you've been transported to Morocco.
Service: Servers are prompt, watchful with refilling waters, and helpful with the eccentricity of the menu. They're timely with the plates, courteous, and they are just plain good servers.
Food: I try to get something new each time, and my palate has never been disappointed. And they have these wonderful carrots. Almost curried? Who knows, but they're great. The tagines are heavenly. Try them. Words fail me on how well-cooked the lamb is.
Price: Not what I'd spend every night for dinner, but great for a nice date. Reasonable just because of the quality of the food and the fact that I definitely can't make this stuff at home.

Firstt time eating Moroccan food
Really liked the vibe. Our waiter was really helpful and friendly, especially after he found out it was our first time. Service was a bit slow though.
6/26/2013 4:00:00 PM
From the moment we stepped into Kous Kous, the ambiance was set beautifully. The decor is simply stunning; our waiter informed us that the chandeliers are imported from Morocco. Since it was our group's first time trying Moroccan food, we didn't know what to expect. Every dish was a lovely surprise, with decently sized portions. The only complaint that I would have is that it took over 10 minutes for the host to seat us after the time of our reservation and that the food took over half an hour to get to the table. It was worth the wait however, and we had a lovely dinner.

I choose Kous Kous restaurant for a birthday dinner based upon Yelp reviews and was not disappointed. My friend really liked the Moroccan Kiss cocktail made with champagne and pomogranate juice. The beef kabob appetizer and lamb tagine entree were delicious.

A delicious Morroccan experinece
We took the Moroccan feast for the four of us and enjoyed an impressive selection of authentic Moroccan food served by a friendly and diligent waitress.
The owner and manager, Moumen, was very friendly and helpful and saw personally that everyone is doing well.
Kous Kous has a tasty and creative drinks menu that I recommend tasting on the bar prior to having dinner.
8/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
Excellent staff, excellent food, excellent decor....but really really warm! I think we would have ordered more to drink and spent more time (& therefore money) here if it wasn't over 80 degrees in the restaurant. Just too uncomfortable to stick around. Probably come back in the fall or winter.
8/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
A romantic and delicious experience
Wonderful authentic Morrocan food, excellent friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Overall a great place to eat.

Food and service were excellent. Merguez of this quality are difficult to find.
We shall return
9/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
Food was great and service was excellent....Was going to give it a 5 star but left only 4 because the only thing remaining, is a little are to have a "dance floor" where people can dance away to music...Hope this can be accomplished one day soon =:)

Great food, nice atmosphere
We frequently eat in Hillcrest restaurants. This was our first time at Kous Kous Moroccan and we loved it. The food was delicious and the wait staff was friendly and efficient. The B’stila roll, on the Tapas page, was outstanding. We will be back.

First visit to Kous Kous and fell in love with the place. Food was delicious - waitress was outstanding and suggested entrees that we would enjoy. Ambience was great. We will come back.

Exotic Moroccan cuisine with rich, deep flavors like you rarely find.

Ambient. Comfortable & Magnificent
Not only is the food here fantastic, but this place has one of the most relaxing, comfortable interiors I've ever eaten in. You have a choice of a regular table or couches, and the couches are soft and welcoming. The waitstaff is incredibly friendly and willing to answer any questions you might have without hesitation. It's a little expensive, but frankly I think the price is justified for everything you get.

It was our first time having Moroccan food. I didn't know what to expect. We had the tasting menu for 2. I liked EVERYTHING. I really liked the chicken appetizer in the phylo dough with powdered sugar YUM! We don't live in San Diego but would definitley return when in town.
11/10/2013 4:00:00 PM
A fine surprise
Wanting to treat our San Diego friends to a good dinner in a place they might not otherwise find, I came across Kous Kous in a foodie review. We had all visited Spain and love the food of the region. The food was authentic, spiced with nuances and delicious. We chose on of the family feast options because we simply could not choose from the vast menu and loved everything. When we return, which we will, we will order off the menu because we now know what the different styles and offers are about. I strongly recommend a visit to this little gem in an energetic neighborhood. It is casual but delicious food, a nice variety of wines and teas and lots of fun too. Put it at the top or your list for a treat and a fun evening.
11/10/2013 4:00:00 PM
We enjoyed our trip to Kous Kous! All the food we has was great. The one downside was the sangria. It was quite bitter and needed something to sweeten the taste, but that's what you get for ordering sangria in a Moroccan restaurant I guess! Either way, the food was worth the visit! Try the b'stila roll and the house made Harissa with kebabs!
11/12/2013 4:00:00 PM
The decor is the first thing
The decor is the first thing you notice as you are transported to another world to enhance your experience. The waitress was wonderful, attentive but not intrusive, and patient as we wanted to have a drink and chat for awhile before ordering. She was great helping me to decide on my dinner and when I still couldn't make up my mind, I told her to surprise me. I was not let down. I had the Berber Lamb Shank Tagine which is slow braised with saffron, cumin, garlic, preserved lemon, and seasonal vegetables. The lamb fell off the bone the moment you touched it with your fork. No knife needed. The B’stila roll is NOT to be missed! Herb saffron chicken, orange blossom water, and honey cinnamon almonds. Pure Perfection.

I love this place!
This is the 3rd time I've been here, and it's fantastic, as always!

I had never tried Moroccan
I had never tried Moroccan food before and what a great surprise! The food is so flavorful and delicious. I've been back several times and had various dishes and haven't found anything I didn't like. The restaurant is small, casual, and comfortable. Great service and a pretty good happy hour menu.
11/27/2013 4:00:00 PM
Loved the food and the service was outstanding. I do recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting to try something fun and new.
