the clam chowder was a meal
the clam chowder was a meal in itself and then I got the main course which was so delicious that I did not let the fact that I was full stop me from finishing every bite. A wonderful experience.

Theater District Dining Gem
Great restaurant, convenient to the Theater District. Perfect for a pre-show dinner. Food was delicious. While there are flatbread pizzas and hamburgers on the menu, this is more than a bistro. Food prices are moderate, but wine and drinks are on the high side. Overall cost was reasonable for the quality of the dining experience. I will put this on the list of "before a show" places to dine in Boston's Theater District.

Went as part of Restaurant week. Liked it so much that we went back the next night. We never ever do that. But I guess we did, and did not disappoint. As local residents, it is just a positive to have in the neighborhood. Deserves our support!

We enjoyed the food at Artisan. It took our server 10 minutes to come and take our order but once he introduced himself, he made up for the delay.

Excellent service from at the resturant and adjoining hotel and bar. The kitchen was extremely flexible and produced an outstanding vegan dish, not on the menu.
We will return!

Perfect for theatergoers. Music a bit too intrusive. Well organized, helpful staff.

Noisy ...off the lobby of the Ritz Carlton. Lively bar scene but not very comfortable for a pleasant dinner.
The food was delicious although a bit over priced and the service was good. Ok for a fast pre-theatre dinner.

A Great Idea for a Special Occasion
My first time at the Ritz Boston. Very open, airy and elegant. A great location for brunch or dinner if you're going to a performance @ The Opera House. Drop in for a drink in the cocktail lounge after the show while the traffic clears out. It will make your day.

Prior to Theatre dinner
We came with 2 other couples, prior to seeing a show nearby. We had been here before, with the kids, and enjoyed it. Coincidently, we had the same waiter, very knowledgeable, but sometimes juggling too much, which does effect the timing. Still, overall it was a wonderful dinner, and we still got to the theatre prior to curtains. Dinners were all delicious. We will return there.

Good theatre spot
The overall experience was very good. We came prior to going to the theatre, so it wasn't very busy when we arrived, but then by the time we left it was pretty hopping. Our server Eugene was fantastic. We had the lobster tacos and the salmon tartare - both were very good. Then we had the chicken, Wednesday fish special (fluke) and the Lobster flatbread. The flatbread was delicious, and the fish was good, but not amazing, and the chicken was very good. We didn't have dessert, but I saw some come out, and they looked nice.

My wife and I dined here prior to attending an event in the Theater District. She had the house salad and steak frites. I had the clam chowder and grilled shrimp. Other than delivering my wife's steak well done (she ordered medium rare) the food was excellent and the service was fine. We were there at 6:00 PM so it was quiet. There were a few people at the bar who sounded like they had been there all afternoon and were whooping it up and having a good time. All in all a good take. We would not hesistate to return.

Given some lukewarm reviews, we decided to try using a Gilt City voucher. The food was far beyond what we had hoped, and the service was spot on for a restaurant at the Ritz (special props to Eugene for being sucha wonderful server - ask for him specifically).

great service and fun ambiance
We had reservations before a show. Our server, Eugene, was great; attentive, fun personality and good suggestions on food. The noise level wasn't bad other than a man next to us on his cell phone the entire time talking to Russia. He was very loud with no consideration to others near him. I asked to be moved further away so we could enjoy our own conversation.
The food was great. We had grilled shrimp; quite large and cooked to perfection. Others had blue cheese short ribs (a suggestion of Eugene) and a great choice. Also we had the steak and cheese flatbread and a pasta dish. The bistro salad was excellent. Everyone enjoyed the food. Overall, the dining experience was well worth it. I would return for either drinks or dinner again.

My go-to spot for pre-theater!
Been here a bunch, and never once had a bad experience. Try the steak and cheese flatbread! I think they actually use tenderloin!

First time, and we were very pleased. We dined early, before a 7:30 movie.
The food was yummy, the kitchen split our shared items without being asked (definite plus!), and the service was top-notch.
The wait was a bit long for our flatbread. We had plenty of time before the movie, so we did not complain, but the server noticed, and because it was longer than it should have been, they took it off the bill. Impressive attention to a high service level!

If Eugene is your waiter...
You are guaranteed to smile all the way through your experience. The service is the best I've had in YEARS - yup, everyone in our group agreed. The food is splendid and the cocktails were both innovative and delicious. From the time we walked in the door and the super nice hostes met us, until we left hours later, absolutely nothing could have been improved upon.

Excellent choice, especially for pre-show dinner. The food was outstanding. The salmon with the wild rice was exceptional. Our server, Sandra, was the BEST!

The bistro is wonderfully
The bistro is wonderfully located in the theatre district. This is the second time I have dined here and both the service and food were very good. The crispy sour dough bread was quite special as a starter. Both my friend and I ordered the seared salmon which was good but a bit over cooked. The wild rice was a bit overpowering and made the dish heavier than expected. I barely tasted the pomegranate vinaigrette. This is not something I would order again.

We found this restaurant for a late last minute dinner on Open Table and were very pleased with the food and service. From start to.finish the staff was very friendly and accommodating to us and our two young kids. The lobster tacos were a delicious appetizer and my steak was perfectly cooked. The bread pudding for dessert was even better than I'd expected.

Dine Well and Be Treated Well
My wife and I had dinner before a show at the nearby Opera House. The restaurant lived up to all the good reviews. Nice wine list, perfectly cooked food, extremely friendly staff, and a server who made us feel special (thank you Sandra!). For apps, I had the clam chowder (very good-even by high Boston standards- and full of clams). My wife had a nice salad. She had the burger and I had a cod dish with a split pea dressing that was very creative. We lingered over a dessert sampler and drinks. Total bill about $100. Very fair. We will definitely be back, and I would recommend to anyone looking for a great meal in the theatre district or near Boston Common and Downtown Crossing. It's directly next door to the Ritz Carlton hotel.

Great spot to grab a bite before a show!
The chef came out to greet us and the wait staff were so friendly and helpful.
The food was delicious, we ordered the scallops and the steak. The only reason why I didn't give the food 5 stars was because the scallops were slightly sandy. Everything else was delicious down to the bread served off hand.
I'd definitely go again.

Good food -- bad timing
The service is a bit on the over top side as every person tries to use your name. It gets a bit weird after a while. But it is very obvious that the entire staff tries very hard. We ordered two glasses of wine, the mini lobster tacos for an appetizer and two burgers for dinner. It took about 10 minutes to get our wine and then we waited, and waited. Finally the appetizers and burgers came out together. While the food was really good -- the best mini tacos I have ever had, the fact that we had to rush though them so the burgers and fries didn't get cold was truly disappointing and ruined what would otherwise have been a really nice dining experience.

Despite being associated with the Ritz-Carlton, this restaurant was surprisingly kid-friendly with a lot of space, crayons for the table and a toy at the end. Somewhat pricey for what it is, but the make your own 3 course prix fixe is a pretty good deal.

Great Late Night Stop for Drink
This was a great find to stop in and have a drink. I have always wanted to try this place. The bartender Mark was great and made our drinks to perfection. The lobster flat bread pizza was AMAZING. So what pricey but hey it is the Ritz. I got what I paid for and service and food were both worth the stop by.

The experience blew us away
This was our second trip to the theater in a week and wanted to go somewhere different. The proximity to the show was an initial criteria but the experience blew us a way.
We decided to sit at the bar and were treated to 5-Star service, exceptional drinks, perfect suggestions, fantastic food and good company (Mario and guy with son who was in the Marines). We will come back for dinner show or no show but with two weeks left in Wicked's run its tempting now knowing Artisian is just down the street.

Nice place for brunch
Brunch with my daughter on her 18th birthday was a very special day for her. . The design of the place was very nice and somewhat eclectic. My daughter mentioned a few times how much she liked it. Service was attentive at first but took a while for our brunch order to actually arrive. That was perfectly ok however because it gave me more time to chat it up with my daughter and enjoy each others company. The food itself was outstanding. My daughter had her fav lobster roll. Fries were perfect and the lobster roll was amazing. I had a parfait and a berry smoothie. Also outstanding. Great experience

Great cuisine poor decor
The brunch was outstanding .. the 3 egg omelet was filled with goodies and very tasty. The place has no resemblance to it's main destination next door, the Ritz. Don't mind paying $6.00 for a cup of coffee but we just felt like we were in a cheap hotel restaurant.

I think that the service is what stand out the most! Impeccable and attentive. I highly recommend Byron and Andres as waiters!

Small Restaurant at Ritz Carlton
This is a small restaurant that is part of the Ritz Carlton Boston Commons in Boston. I only had breakfast there as part of the FHR Program. It was quite delicious although a little limited. Staying only three nights it was not a problem. Seems like a lot of locals dine there.

Great for upper theatre district
Artisan Bistro is a hotel restaurant. That said, the food is very good and the service is excellent. Of equal importance the location is convenient to Loew's Boston Common and to the big theatres on Washington Street, convenient also to parking and various T stations. It would be perfect if they had white tablecloths and if the adjacent bar were elsewhere, although, to be fair, the bar is not noisy and the TVs can be safely ignored. Finally, we have always been able to get a table.

The Ritz lives up to hype
The Artisan Bistro is the only full-service dining room at the 'new' Ritz in Boston. The 'old' Ritz was on Arlington st for many years at the other end of the Boston Common. Greg, our outstanding waiter, goes back to those days and has now been a waiter for 18 years. My date had the filet which was fabulous, but wasa bit small for most people. She doesn't eat much so it was perfect for her. At these rather high prices you'd think they would have served her a larger portion. I had the $50 mixed seafood/broth dish with generous portions of lobster and some other seafood in a delicious broth. Yummy and the portion size wasn't as stingy as the filet! I had plenty to eat with a side salad. Food quality was outstanding!

We were late getting into town because of traffic and with tickets to the ballet we needed exceptional service…..we received that along with great wine and food and we were on time for the ballet. The extra care in making sure we weren't late was very much appreciated.

Service was extremely friendly
Service was extremely friendly and professional. Appropriately elegant and good food.
Brunch/Lunch menu included mostly standard items, and it would have been refreshing to see some unusual specialties added, such as crepes. Having said that, the Crabcake Benedict was innovative (and excellent) in having the crab cake replace the standard english muffin, rather than be added to it. Brilliant! A few more esoteric items would bring us back more often.
