Dine About Town Find
We tried this place because it was close to Beach Blanket Babylon theater, was part of the dine about town event, and had the best menu of the options in North Beach. Was a bit disappointed to find that not everything listed on the "Dine About Town" menu was on the actual menu when we arrived - but still some fantastic choices. The Zucchini chips were phenomenal, as well as the meatballs. My mom had the salmon - and it was perfectly done. I had the lobster ravioli - and it too was pretty darn good. The panne cotta for dessert was amazing.

Excellent food, few small drawbacks
It was a busy night and the noise level was really high. My date and I pretty much had to shout to hear each other. They also had a large private party so we had to wait a little longer than I wouldn't liked, but the food made it well worth it. My lobster ravioli was delicious, and so was the freshly imported mozzarella. We hadn't planned on dessert, but the vanilla custard with raspberry was too tempting to pass up. We will be back.

Awesome gem in North Beach
This was a lovely local spot in North Beach. Great atmosphere, friendly and efficient staff. The food was amazing. Wine list awesome. Would definitely recommend if visiting the area.

Just a cute, little hip italian restaurant. Limited menu, which I love. Had calamari salad, gnochhi, and one other pasta and all were amazing. The bread was just ok, but we didnt care.

North Beach Gem
Go and enjoy one of the finest dining experiences in San Francisco's North Beach. Vicoletto serves wonderful food in a nicely modern Italian room. The staff gives excellent service and the kitchen puts out a great meal. We had the gnocchi, the lobster ravioli, and the pappardelle con funghi, all tasty and reasonably priced. Appetizers of note: Mozzarella burrata and zucchini ala scapece! yummy! The wine list is heavily Italian but also well priced.

Fantastic Service and food!
This place is a hidden gem in North Beach. The lobster ravioli was so good and rivalled many ravioli's I have tasted in Italy. The wine selection was suberb and the waiter selected a great wine that went well with our meal. The service is impeccable and we could not have asked for more friendly, knowledgeable and patient waiters. Also try the squid ink pasta and the pork with tagliatelle.

We went to Vicoletto after seeing a Sunday matinee of Beach Blanket Babylon -- just right down the block! The food was fantastic -- I had Lobster Ravioli and my sister had Crab Linguine and we split -- oh so yummy! The pastas tasted home made-- not that frozen package stuff you get everywhere else! We were there early -- 5 pm so it was not busy, but I can imagine that they are very busy with the wonderful food! The servers spoke with an Italian accent to add to the ambience!

We had a nice evening at Vicolettos. Food was good and service was attentive. Our table was ready right at 8:00 which was our reservation time. Two points that could improve. Bread seemed to have been sitting in the air too much. Also, with drinking red wine, I get a little warm. So the restaurant seemed a little stuffy. It was nice to be out the door and feeling the cool San Francisco air! Overall, a very nice evening.

Outstanding Birthday Dinner
Brought in a group of 6 and the Resturant sat us on time. Friendly staff. Food was great. I especially enjoyed the Buratta appetizer, so good. Everyone in our group had a great dinner. Everyone shared so we could all taste everything.

Lovely restaurant in Little Italy
I booked this restaurant for a mid-week dinner whilst we were on our honeymoon in San Francisco. I booked via Open Table and mentioned that we were on honeymoon. The restaurant is small/ intimate with contemporary classic decor, and we were given a nice table by the window. We ordered the mussels to share for an appetiser then I had the black squid ink spaghetti with seafood and my husband had a stuffed pork loin - all were delicious, authentic and flavourful. The seafood tasted very fresh. The wine list was mainly Italian wines which we were not familiar with, but the waiter helped us choose one which we enjoyed. The manager brought a a complimentary vanilla pannacotta for dessert which was lovely. Service was excellent.

A good spot to go in NB
Went there for a quick meal before a show in NB.
Great burratta, gnocci was good. The salmon was ok, not great, but not bad.
Would consider it again if looking for a spot in NB.

Everything we had was outstanding! We ordered a some of everything and shared. The food was plentiful, tasty but not heavy. Everything down to the dessert is authentic and well thought out. The only down side is that I do not live in San Fransisco! Open a restaurant in Toronto!

Just What We Needed
We needed a nice place to accommodate six of us for a family reunion (which became 7 just as we headed to the restaurant). They quickly added a table for us (rather than trying to squeeze us into a table for 6). The ambience is modern and spare - nothing too busy, so we could all just concentrate on catching up. The staff was friendly and informative without being pushy. They gave us time to talk but the food arrived quickly after we ordered. There's not much for vegetarians on the menu, but two starters made a perfect meal. And the panna cotta dessert was delicious!

A very nice place to grab a bite to eat while you're in North Beach -- aka: Little Italy. If you're visiting SF and you want someplace the locals go, this is it.

We were so glad we had reservations as we saw them turn away so many people trying to get in. Our meal was fabulous. Our son ordered the veal and was the most tender any of us has ever had. My stuffed pork chop was tender and unique. The Gnocchi was excellent as well. We had a hard time choosing appetizers as there were so many appetizing choices. We settled on the cauliflower, because you don't see that often. Great choice. Our only disappointment was that we did not order the fried zucchini. When it came to the table next to us, it looked and smelled amazing. I knew we missed out!
What a nice experience.

Burrrrrrata! Mamma mia!!
The fresh burrata, bigger than your palm, is flown in fresh from Puglia in Italy. It is completely memorable and worth the price alone. Each of the 4 of us had a different pasta, and all were very tasty and fresh. Service was attentive, friendly and proactive. Very happy!

A piece of Italy in San Francisco
We are italians and when aboad we refrain from going to italian restaurants
Because food it's never like @ home, But this time we were
Happily surpriced by the viciletto. The burrata was
Delicious not to talk about the linguine with the crab, very well cooked Al Dente.
If we ever get the chance to get back to San Francisco we would surely go back
To the Vicoletto

Delicious and comfortable
Came here based on TA reviews, not disappointed. Calamari, pasta dishes, wines all outstanding.

Great service plus great food
You couldn't have asked for better service. The food was outstanding- true Italian cuisine! Loved the stuffed pork shop as well as the pasta with crabmeat. At the same time the best of the best is the mozzarella. Have had good mozzarella in my day but this must be the best.
8/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
We had the uni & crab pasta and the squid ink pasta both were excellent.
8/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great Italian Food
This was the best Italian food experienace we've had in years. The picata was wonderful. Their pasta (home made perfect al dente tube pasta) was terrific. We're coming back!
8/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
fabulous food and excellent service
Food was amazing, and really well done. Burrata and zucchini were just as good as other reviewers said. The salmon was really amazing. Wine list is very nice, and not the usual. Service was attentive - we had two 80 year olds with us, and they were very kind about their pace and needs. My only complaint was the noise. Maybe not a smart choice for the 80 year olds. But it was terrific and they loved it.

SF Italian gem
The Vicoletto restaurant has very tasty italian food and at a good price. The veal was excellent. I recomend it.

Vicoletto Dining Experience
went to vicoletto to celebrate a wedding anniversary. the restaurant seated my wife and i on the corner table that had the street view. very nice. from the moment we sat down, the staff was great. refilling our water without us asking and always checking on how their food tasted.
for appetizers we ordered the polpette al sugo and something with clams (don't remember the name). and main dish we had the lasagna and the gnocchi. both were delicious. my wife was full from the appetizers alone and she was very happy with the restaurant selection. we are definitely going back.
9/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
This restaurant deserves it's high rating. Although the menu was a bit limited, the food was amazing! We started with the Polpette al sugo (best meatballs ever!), and the Mozzarella Burrata--imported burrata cheese served with cherry tomato wedges and dressed arugula--(omg--fantastic!!). For main courses we ordered Pappardelle con granchio and a pork dish--both excellent. On our Open Table booking I requested a nice table as we were celebrating a birthday. Ten minutes after we arrived we were seated at the best table in the restaurant. Vicoletto is located on a busy street in the hip North Beach area. It's not particularly large or romantic, but if you're a foodie, you will love it!
9/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
Food was great!
I hade the meatballs for a starter, followed by the ravioli and then pannacotta for dessert.
9/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
Very good food & service. We called about where to park our 12 passenger van & they provided us a reserved parking place at the front door. We had seven in our group & our reserved table was ready when we arrived. I would recommend Vicoletto for a great dining experience.
9/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
Four of us had dinner and we shared four pasta dishes and a veal stew. All four of the pasta dishes were excellent. The veal was quite good also but everyone raved about the squid ink pasta. Later in the evening the place was very busy, esp on a Tues night, and service got a bit slow.

North beach find
Vicoletto was a wonderful way to get our NB Italian fix on our recent trip to SF. The food did not disappoint. We had planned to have the buratta, based on reviews, but after seeing how generous the portion was at a neighboring table knew that it was too much for just the two of us. We shared the zucchini, which was exceptional - simple preparation yet complex flavors , and the cauliflower, which was creamy and comforting. My friend had the tagliatelle with slow cooked pork sugo, I had linguini with crab , the fresh pasta was perfectly cooked, not too al dente, and the sauces were nicely seasoned. Panna cotta and molten lava cake to finish, delish. Small wine list with decent prices, server had good suggestions for pairing. We will return.

Great wine, amazing food!
We made last minute reservations for dinner on a Saturday night and had no trouble getting a table for two. We got there early so we started with drinks at the bar. The bartender made a great wine recommendation! When our table was ready they moved our drinks for us. There were many great choices on the menu. We ordered the tagliatella and gnocchi. Both were equally amazing!
9/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
We had a terrific experience at Vicoletto...a good selection of wines by the glass, as well as food, all very high quality but reasonably priced. A very warm welcome from the staff...and, when we were getting ready to leave, we asked the manager if he could phone for a cab, he suggested walking a couple of blocks as it would be quicker. Just as we headed out the door, he spotted a cab in the next block, ran and got the driver's attention, and held it for us in the street!! Great service, and a wonderful relaxing dinner.

Give this place a serious look
I'll keep this brief & to the point: if you appreciate simple, quality Italian cuisine then drop what you're currently doing and run to this place....no joke.
Found this restaurant by accident, and I'm glad we did. Clams in red sauce as an appetizer with fresh bread is a must, and the entrees that we shared were equally as spectacular: Pappardelle con Granchio, Ravioli Aragosta and Gnocchi w/ Calabrian Sausage. Incredibly fresh. I was on a limited business trip so my visit was one time only, but I will be back.

Hitting the mark in general
Vicoletto was very enjoyable for dinner last Saturday night. The food, wine, and service were all quite good. Appetizers were especially fun. I do think a couple more entree selections would be desirable (there were only three available). The Italian only wine list is a reality here, but that's a nice change from other restaurants with more eclectic lists.
This is not an easy place to have an intimate conversation. The noise seems to reverberate in the restaurant. Staff was attentive, friendly, and professional. Vicoletto is definitely a good dining option in North Beach.

Italian in San Francisco
We walked from our hotel in Fisherman's Wharf area and had a hard time finding Vicoletto. We walked by it twice and called twice to find it. It is not obvious and you really have to look. We were about 15 minutes late and once we arrived we were glad we made it. We started with a salad that was served with a lemon olive oil dressing and had shavings of Italian cheese - very good. We had two pasta dishes, each with homemade pasta. One was a squid ink linguine with seafood and the other was a spaghetti with pork ribs - both delicious. Good bread with the meal. We recommend it and would go again.

A gem in North Beach
We made a reservation at Vicoletto without ever having been there, just by looking at reviews. We brought friends with us to try it out, and we were all completely satisfied, and thought that the restaurant exceeded our expectations. Every dish was carefully prepared; from the mussels to the snapper to the squid ink pasta... and especially the burrata appetizer. We're definitely going back.

A great SF find
Really enjoyed our meal here. No problems with anything really. Food was great, service attentive but not overbearing, good advice on wine and menu selections. Good neighbourhood for a stroll afterwards, too.

After work dinner
A colleague and I had dinner here on a Tuesday evening after work around 7:30pm so it was not crowded. We arrived and we were about two of less than twenty guests to the noise level was moderate to even low. We started by sharing the romaine salad which was very light and very refreshing with their house olive oil lemon dressing. We both ordered the tagliatella pasta dish. I had it with mushrooms as listed and my colleague substituted oregano. It was very good. I also ordered the wild salmon which was grilled to perfection - flaky but still very moist. Our waiter made an excellent wine suggestion to top off the meal. We plan to come back again early in the week for another quiet, relaxing dinner

Lobster ravioli to die for
Very busy and quite small modern Italian restaurant. Dined there on a Sunday evening. We had to wait at the bar for our table to be ready but the restaurant was lively and the staff attentive. Perhaps a little noisy for some. Can't fault the food or service, which were both top class. My daughter's mozzarella starter and my lobster ravioli main were really of the highest quality and tasted superb. We loved it.

Great food, good gluten free pasta option, and the best burrata I've tasted. Friendly, accommodating staff go out of their way to make the experience as enjoyable as possible. Our "go to" restaurant in North Beach
10/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
This was our first experience at Vicoletto and it was wonderful! I was meeting friends from out of town before Beach Blanket Babylon and wanted something close to the theater. This restaurant had a more polished feel to it as compared to others in North Beach. It was very quiet when we got there but as the night went on did get a little loud but it wasn't a problem. The waiter was knowledgable about the wines and food. He suggested an excellent Italian Pinot Nior that we all really enjoyed and was priced reasonably. The food could not have been better, we all had a different pasta dish, all of which were phenomenal and not over sized. The portions were perfect, we were all satisfied but not stuffed when we left. I will definitely be back!

We had their fish and pasta.
We had their fish and pasta. Excellent. Great service and a good wine list.

Wonderful staff, lovely meal
Wonderful staff, lovely meal in a warm welcoming environment. It felt like I was enjoying a meal in someones home in Italy. The desserts were amazing... try the tiramisu and the panna cotta.

Little gem in North Beach
This a a lovely little restaurant with really fine food. We cam late so tye place was fairly empty but the warmth of the service staff was terrific and made us feel like we were in someone's home. The homemade meatballs were outstanding, as were the homemaed pastas. The lobster ravioli is a must.

A spot to come back to
The servers are great-- gracious, unobtrusive, great energy. Food has been consistently good the times I've been here. The zucchini was a gem, home-made pasta melted in the mouth, tiramisu to die for, and the wine choices are good.

Home Cooked Meals -- Service Spotty
Felt like eating at an Italian home, wonderful flavors, everything fresh -- appetizers, sole main course, etc. Only drawback was our initial service interaction. Host was a bit cold, told us we had to wait for a table in the back even though there were only 2 tables occupied and when we sat at the bar, he rudely said "this is my workspace" when we sat too close to the flowers he was arranging. But to be fair, after we sat down, he seemed more relaxed and the service level was solid.
12/4/2013 4:00:00 PM
Hit the Spot! !
The menu is a little limited for our preferences although they without question made our dinner to a tee. Very impressed with our dishes. We began with a light and fresh salad followed by wonderful set of meatballs and spaghetti. The service was fast and pleasant even though there was a large party about to happen. Even the balsamic vinegar on the table for the homemade bread was a good choice. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to others as it is quaint, affordable and well located.
