A dinning experience
Outstanding dinning experience! Troy our server was delightful and sommelier knows her stuff! Her recommendations were spot on. Enjoyed every bite of our meals and every sip of wine!

10/10 Great Gem
The Oakroom has 5 diamonds for a reason. EVERYTHING was done properly for relaxing fine dining. Good sized square or round tables. Tables were spaced properly. Large, upholstered, comfortable chairs. Proper linen tablecloths and napkins. Cutlery replaced for each course. Friendly and attentive staff. The new chef has only been on staff for 5 -6 months. HE PLATES ALL THE FOOD AND HAS FABULOUS ATTENTION TO DETAIL.There are 6 appetizers, 6 entrees and 6 desserts. We tried the lobster bisque, tiger prawns and mushroom grits and green goddess salad. All Excellent. We tried the oakroom pork, the beef filet and the halibut. All excellent. Loved the complimentary bread and special butters, the sorbet, asparagus soup shots and the bourbon balls.

We were celebrating our 33 anniversary and our dinning experience at the Oak Room helped make it a very special occasion.

A very good choice
The Oak Room is a very good choice for dinner. Attentive , knowledgeable, and polite staff, good menu options, very good food, and a great wine list. Peaceful atmosphere in a lovely building.

Loved the Brunch! Jamal our
Loved the Brunch! Jamal our server was the best. He has worked there for 27 years and was friendly, attentive, a great asset to the restaurant. Scrambled eggs with tomatoes,, chive oil and Gruyere Cheese to die for. Roasted Brussels Sprouts. Mimosa's. Celebrating my birthday, though it was not known to the restaurant, and felt like I was treated like a VIP. Live in Indianapolis, would definitely return, worth a road trip. Not your typical brunch, stated changes weekly, the staff at the buffet station very friendly and professional, the food, was fresh, not overcooked, stations were neat and clean, outstanding in all aspects. A+

This is a ture 5 start experience!
This is a ture 5 start experience! I could not believe the wine list. I found out that they have 4 wine rooms with different wines. The food was outstanding. When it came to service it was exceptional. I have nerver had so much attention. AAA is right on when they give it a 5 star rating.

Wonderful in every aspect.
We had an amazing ten year anniversary celebration. Our waiter Jamal was attentive, knowledgeable, and accomodating. Our appetizer, entree, dessert, and drink choices were divine. I ordered the shrimp and citrus grits.... Heavenly!!! We each had the bacon wrapped loin, and each bite was amazing. For dessert, my husband asked for creme brulee and Jamal arranged to have some brought up from the hotel as the restaurant did not have any on the menu. Talk about going the extra mile!! With our check we got bourbon balls and enormous wrapped chocolate chip cookies! What a nice touch. As we left, the host offered to take our picture to capture our memory. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a five star experience!

a great night out...
The service and food @ The Oakroom are excellent. I only have a few complaints...the restaurant only was serving 5 tables while we were there, but all the tables were next to each other. So we could hear all the conversations of the room. Also the captain suggested the cobbler to all the tables around us, but since we ordered the 5 course meal they brought us a different ....the desert was very good but I really wanted to try the cobbler after hearing how good it was.....overall a great place for a special meal with friends or family

We went for brunch early and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Being among the first there, we had a chance to explore this grand old hotel, which was fun, in of itself, and learn a little of its history and Great Gatsby connection. The food itself was outstanding and very well prepared. Frankly, I haven't been to a brunch with this quality of food and service since we lived in Chicago. I would agree with other comments that people seem to take advantage of the "casual" dress code. I take casual at a 5 star restaurant means I don't have to wear a tie. Others take it to mean shorts, torn tee shirts, and flip flops, which is unfortunate but didn't ruin our experience by any means. Our compliments to the chefs and staff.

Fantastic upscale dining in Louisville. Excellent menu with interesting combinations. We had a Green Goddess salad and the tiger prawn appetizer, followed by pork loin entree and the chicken and dumplings. Pork loin was excellent chicken was good but a little too much sauce.
Our servers (Troy and Amy) were personable , professional, and prompt. You could not ask for more
Definitely a must do in Louisville

We had taken our parents here for their 60th anniversary and decided to do a repeat for their 65th. A few family members, who were here for the 60th, came from out of town for the surprise. The entire party enjoyed everything about the experience again, five years later. We went for the outstanding Sunday brunch. It is definitely a great place for a special occasion. The setting is elegant. The food is well-presented, ample and delicious.

Great bar and service, ave food
The bar, bartenders, and waiters were awesome. Food was good, but not great. Have been back to the bar, but will not eat at the Oakroom again. There are many much better restaurants in town.

Impeccable Service and Food
We throughly enjoyed a quiet evening with three of the best wait staff ever. They were never intrusive, but always attentive and made sure every need was met.

Great as usual!
Sunday brunch was outstanding as usual. Great selection of entrees and the desserts are the best ever.

Let's move in!
THE OAK ROOM is the most elegant dining room in Louisville and the food is near perfect.
Five course tasting menu was lovely. Lobster bisque with amontillado sherry, so many waiters we all got served simultaneously every course.
Green goddess salad with fresh hearts of palm, with a bright white wine; best cioppino, with parsnip, a pork cheek --wow--on puree of peppers, with rose'. A morsel of beef with classic demi-glace --very Escoffier- with blend of cabs and merlot, a chocolate confection that looked like fairies must have made it.

My wife travels a great deal for her job and, coincidentally, over the time of our anniversaries. This has meant that we have enjoyed our anniversary dinner in a number of places, including San Francisco, Cape Cod, Chicago, Minneapolis, DC, and Louisville. So, we are accustomed to a really fine dining experience, that is quite romantic. The Oak Room did not disappoint, in any way, shape, or form. It was wonderful, and we laud our waiter, the chef, and the pasty chef for the fabulous experience. It made our 30th wedding anniversary, appropriately memorable.

Make the effort to go !
It is hidden gem inside the hotel. The whole experience was fantastic despite the diner next to us who was alone, using his ipad and making cell phone calls during dinner. SERIOUSLY!!
The service was impeccable and the food exquisite. We even went back for their Sunday brunch right before leaving for the airport. Good thing because I would have pigged out !
If memory serves me right, our server's name was Jamal. He was perfectly attentive & flawless !
8/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
Service was impeccable
Oakroom has one of the most extensive wine and bourbon lists of any restaurants I have been to in Louisville. The servers are extremely knowledgeable and patient. We got multiple compliments from the chef and everything we had was wonderful. It was my wife's birthday - had the yellow tuna for appetizers, three little pigs and the beef combo for entrees. All of which were fantastic.
8/8/2013 12:00:00 AM
Fantastic Food and Service
To be honest, the food was fantastic. The service was top notch. However, the dining room was pretty much empty, which made for sort of a somber, sad experience. I believe the restaurant could expand its menu and its wine list, including offering more reasonable wines for under 100 dollars and less of a mark up, but other than that there is a lot to offer. Incredibly beautiful surroundings. Well trained attentive staff. Very good food at a fair price for a top restaurant. I mean there is a lot to recommend about the Oakroom. I wish I knew how they could attract more diners.

Everything about our 25th Anniversary celebration dinner was exceptional. Food was delectable. Service impeccable and ambience was perfect. Everyone went out of their way to make our dinner evening memorable...from rose petals on the table to the chef and staff signed menu to the customized desserts. Jamal and Jordon were perfect servers and made sure everything was to our liking but not intrusive throughout the night. We took pictures of our entrees since they were so beautiful. Their artistic beauty matched their amazing flavors. We loved going through the extensive wine list. By far a highlight of our dining experiences in 2013. Would highly recommend The Oakroom for anyone wanting a memorable dining experience. Bravo!!!!

I took my boyfriend to the Oakroom for his 25th birthday and it was absolutely more than expected! We got the 5 course sampler. It was MORE than enough food. We both walked away stuffed. The food was divine, from taste to how to was displayed. Every dish was mouthwatering and perfectly portioned. The service was out of this world. We never wanted for anything. The ambience was beautiful and quiet and intimate.
8/31/2013 12:00:00 AM
We went for Sunday brunch which was out of this world. Setting is great, dark wood, fancy carvings, nicely spaced tables. Brunch had a huge selection of foods, each tasting great. The grits with gruyere cheese and truffle oil-outstanding. The dessert selection was unreal. Plenty of options including fruit, chocolate, bread pudding, cakes, pies. In my younger days I probably would have skipped the main courses & gone straight to dessert! Firm shrimp, oysters, salads, cheeses, eggs, pork loin, beef. Server was attentive but not intrusive. Mimosa was included but we had to ask. Can't wait to go back to that state &have dinner at the Oakroom. Based on brunch experience it would have to be exquisite. Too bad we live so far away!
8/31/2013 5:00:00 PM
As always we enjoy coming to the Oakroom. And we don't need a special occasion. Our first visit was 28 years ago and it gets better every time. Keep up the good work. We love it!
9/1/2013 12:00:00 AM
Went to the Oakroom for our anniversary. Every element, from a PERFECTLY made Old Fashioned from the bar, to our rose pedal covered table, to our attentive waitress and several compliments of the chef appetizers was perfect. Dinner entrees (Three little Pigs and halibut) were excellent. We have eaten at some of the finest restaurants in the country, from New York City to San Francisco and the Oakroom ranks among the best.

A Fantastic Louisville visit
It was exactly what we wanted. Everything and everybody were first class. Our first time there, fit into a special date of an elderly widow and widower.
9/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
Everything about the Oak Room was as advertised. The only thing that could have been better for us would have been a slightly larger selection or being able to pick my side items separate from my entree. It just seemed like there was something on every entre that I was not fond of or did not want to try. We both went for the pork though and enjoyed it.

Lives up to its reputation "of fine dining". Courtesy and helpfulness of staff and a high quality of food
9/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
the food was delicious. the service was amazing except for the bartender. he made me a cosmopolitan that tasted real sour from to much lime.so when I took it back to him and said there was a problem. instead of remaking it, he just dumped what appeared to be simple syrup in it. so then I had a way to sticky sugary sour mess! not what I would have expected from the Oakroom! sept 26 7:00

The entire evening was simply delightful. The staff was very attentive and the food was amazing. I highly recommend the lobster bisque and the 3 Little Berkshire Pigs.
9/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
Brunch at the Oakroom should not be missed. The selection is varied and everything was well prepared and tasted great. The dining area is very old school, comfortable, and not loud. The dessert selection was over the top! We had three children with our party of 8 and they had a great time and found plenty to eat.

Post wedding brunch.
The restaurant was very clean and the food was delicious. I especially loved the shrimp and grits. The staff were very attentive and there were rosepetals on our table when we arrived. The atmosphere was very inviting and not at all intimidating. I will definitely go back.
9/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
The Oakroom sets an outstanding brunch. Breakfast and lunch entrees are extensive, attractive and tasty. They provide cold entrees and salads as well as flavor-able fruits. The dessert are out of this world, ranging from large cookies to elegant cheese cakes. Their signature bread pudding is the best ever.
We dine there just about every time we go through or visit Louisville.

Step into history
The restaraunt is located in a restored 1905 grand hotel. A wonderful dining experience!
10/8/2013 12:00:00 AM
Not just a meal but a true dining experience. We will definitely go back. The food was excellent, a virtual explosion of flavors in an orderly parade, the service was over the top and the interior made you feel as if you were on top of the world.

Wonderful Birthday Brunch!
My husband and two children took me to brunch at The Oakroom for my birthday. It was fabulous! An entire room filled with delicious food. There was everything from perfectly cooked beef tenderloin to the most amazing tiramisu and chocolate torte. The service was as impressive as the food. I can't wait to go back.
10/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
The evening at the Oakroom was very enjoyable and the staff were very knowledgeable.

History, ambience and fine-dining
My husband and I were celebrating our 16th anniversary at the Oakroom, which is where we dined on the night we married. Having been shell-shocked from the wedding in 1997, I don't remember much of our first Oakroom meal, but our return there was amazing. The service staff was pleasant, helpful and attuned to our needs. The food was OUTSTANDING!! I love the Seelbach for its history and beauty, so the setting alone is worth every penny.

Special Event Dining at it finest
The Oak Room provides a sophisticated dining experience with the special touches you can only find in traditional "old school" fine dining. The little touches of a muse before the appetizer, the palate cleanser between courses, the chair being pulled back for you and all the other flawless touches that make a meal an experience. Then comes the food! Amazing! Have had 2 special events in the past 6 months and both have been held there. First as a novelty the second time by choice. You won't be disappointed.

Oakroom Sunday Brunch
Great atmosphere with fine quality of cusine. Right down to the wonderfull borbon balls! As we have done the brunch several times in the last couple of years, we like having the food in the same area as the tables. Also, we missed having the "necktor" drinks of somekind as we had before. But, nice unexpected touch was the free mimosa. Will still continue coming back as it is a great dinning experience.
11/9/2013 4:00:00 PM
Food is 5 star. A little adventurous for us, but good. The shrimp with grits appetizer and steak main course were outstanding. Very nice presentation and very nice ambience. Service was 5 star as far as knowing protocols and professionalism. They were understaffed for servers that night, so we suffered for that. We had almost a 30 minute wait to get our check after finishing dessert, but they apologized. Cookies when we left were really good.
11/22/2013 4:00:00 PM
We arrived at the Oakroom with a specific meal in mind! I recently saw on "Chefs of Louisville" a story on a new menu item called the Three Little Berkshire Pigs. The pork was EXCELLENT! What a meal! You've got to try it!!!!! Go to the Sealback soon!! Service was excellent as always!
