I was very pleasantly surprised
I was very pleasantly surprised how good the food was! I had the Treasures of Kenwood inspired dish - Bangers and Mash - an old British standard, but prepared with a contemporary twist that was executed very well.
My server was very good...he seemed to be interested in doing a good job.

Our Service was wonderful
Our Service was wonderful and the food a true delight.
They always make sure we are out the door on time for the Symphony too!
One of our favorite places to eat in downtown Seattle.

As always I find the experience at Taste as aesthetic as my trip to the Art Museum!

The menu with selections that reflected the main exhibit has something for everyone. The food was excellent, and our waiter new the answers to our questions, was polite and friendly without being obtrusive.

We visited Taste as part of our Mother's Day afternoon trip to SAM. What a great surprise. The food and the service were excellent. They had a wondeful pre-fix lunch special which only my husband ordered and the rest of us were envious. My daughter had the eggs Benny and loved it. I had the pancakes and must say they were wonderful and very different from any traditional pancake.
All in all, a great way to spend an afternoon. Lunch at Taste and a day at loking at art at SAM.

Mother's Day Outing
We had a great time seeing the art exhibits and then eating in the restaurant. There was an optional special menu in honor of Mother's Day, as well as the usual Sunday brunch menu. The restaurant was crowded, but not overly noisy. I'm glad we had made reservations because we were seated immediately. The service was very good, with an attentive staff. My lunch was wonderful (quiche and salad). My husband enjoyed his (chicken and bisquits), but it would have been very dry if he hadn't asked for extra gravy. The prices were quite reasonable. I will definitely go again.
5/11/2013 4:00:00 PM
The daily special variation of quiche was outstanding. It was so light it simply melted in my mouth. Looking forward to a return visit soon!

classy and chic
Great menu for fresh, local, organic fare. Delicious and beautifully prepared and presented. If you're into art, it's the perfect place to go if you're going to the Seattle Art Museum. Very nice decor and comfortable seating. Fun to watch the passers-by on the street as well. Close to Pike Place Market, so great for tourists, too. Excellent service!

Good food and service
Went here for Sunday brunch. My wife and I had the chicken and biscuits and eggs benny. Both were really good and flavorful. For dessert we had a chocolate cake with ice cream. The ice cream was excellent. Atmosphere is fairly quiet and service was prompt and friendly.

Art museum restaurant
I've eaten in art museum restaurants in several cities. This one has an unusually interesting menu from an inventive chef; several menu items were keyed to a major exhibit of Japanese costume design that had just opened in the museum. It also had a good selection of wines and beers at reasonable prices (important for restoration after a couple of hours of wandering the art galleries), and very attentive service. Cod with black rice was moist and succulent, ramen noodle dish with avocado, soft boiled egg and salmon combined unusual flavors successfully, salmon flatbread with herbs was outstanding. A light touch on salt, which we appreciated.
6/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
TASTE is a wonderful place to find local fish, meat and vegetables and prepared by excellent chefs. A truly wonderful experience!

Great place for brunch and a museum
TASTE is a wonderful place to meet up, have a meal, then go to the exhibits at the Seattle Art Museum, or Pike Place Market, which is nearby.
The food is creative and tasty. I understand the drinks are also creative and tasty, such as the Bloody Mary my friend had.

Can't go wrong with Taste
I often dine at Taste when visiting the museum. The food and service are always lovely. Although the menu isn't extensive, it is varied enough to suit a variety of diets. The chef is willing to adapt a dish if requested. On my last visit, an entree salad was nicely adapted to meet my plant-based food regime. I've had brunch, lunch and dinner here and have never been disappointed.
7/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
The menu is interesting and well-executed. The salmon noodle bowl, for instance, sounds ordinary but was extraordinary. Very pleasant experience, always.

First Avenue Ambiance
Taste restaurant at the Seattle Art Museum has been a lunch destination for a friend and for me for several years: we love watching the tourists, Seatteites, pan-handlers and other habitues of First Avenue pass by outside while we relish the ambiance inside. Our service has always been prompt and friendly, and the food has been beautifully plated as well as luscious to eat. We spend time visiting, which the noise level makes easy, and enjoying the modernistic decor of the restaurant while we dine. On an evening visit two years ago, my husband and I also relished our dinner at Taste for much the same reasons. I would not recommend dining here if you think McDonalds is gourmet food, or if you like rush and noise. If not, enjoy!
7/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
average food, hopefully a fluke
the burger looked great but my risotto was incredibly mediocre. white rice floating in a thin broth with peas and corn. salt was the main "spice". tasted like something i would make at home if i was broke. atmosphere was perfect, however. i would try this place again before recommending it to folks who are "foodies" or super picky about food. hopefully i just got them on an off day. staff and service was great!

Convenience and good food
We ate lunch at Taste during our visit to the Seattle Art Museum (SAM). The restaurant is in the museum, which was hugely convenient. The fare is freshly made, mostly local and nicely presented. It is not inspirational, but it is a very nice place for lunch, with quick efficient service, so one can get back to the art.

Taste stays true to its name.
Taste, as the Seattle Art Museum's restaurant, only had to be adequate, to feed the hungry tourists and downtowners who stopped in to the museum. But it exceeds these expectations, and goes far beyond. Taste is actually a very, very good restaurant - does not matter what it is attached to! And the menu varies, so you never get bored. Great views of a bustling downtown, near the Piek Place Market, etc. What a welcome addition to the Seattle arts scene.
8/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
Our reservation was honored and we ate in a timely fashion. Soup was disappointing because the egg was too cooked. Boo hiss. Not at all typical of this restaurant. The Steak salad was delicious. I can't remember what I had - oh dear does that say something about me or them? LOL
8/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
Taste needs a publicity boost
I fear Taste is managing to slip under the radar of downtown Seattle diners. It's open for lunch and dinner. The surroundings are lovely, the food is good and the service is efficient and friendly. Still it seem to be ignored while unwitting tourists are directed to such over rated and over priced places as the Metropolitan Grill and Wild Ginger.
8/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
worth taking the time to eat there if you're at the museum. the food is excellent, and so is the service. it is all hard surfaces inside, which makes it very noisy - hard to hear your table companions. but the food is a treat. the menu varies with season and show. flavors are beautifully balanced. portions are just right. they really do a good job.

WHILE VISITING SEATTLE FOR BUSINESS AND PLEASURE, I TOOK MY FRIEND MARGARET TO LUNCH AT THE TASTE AS A BIRTHDAY TREAT. WE HAD SO MUCH FUN PEOPLE-WATCHING, ALONG THE SIDEWALK NEXT TO OUR INDOOR TABLE! THE SERVERS WERE SO FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL, AND THE FOOD WAS DEEEELICIOUS! WE WILL BE THERE AGAIN AND TELL OUR FRIENDS, AS WELL. THANK YOU FOR A VERY SPECIAL DINING EXPERIENCE ON A SPECIAL DAY!

Ladies day out
My girlfriends and I wanted to see the 30 Years to the Future Japanese exhibit. We did this and finished off with a great lunch at Taste. One had the hamburger, one the cod and I the Katsu chicken sandwich. Their food was great but mine was not what I had hoped for. Nevertheless, the ambience was great, the wait staff the best and we stayed well on into the afternoon chatting. A perfect place to catch up. Oh, the desserts were wonderful and the lattes were excellent.

Always a winner
Taste never disappoints. Although my husband's appetizer of polenta was not quite what he was expecting, it was good.
I had the prix fixe menu and it was stellar. The roasted tomatoes were wonderful, and the salmon was perfectly prepared. The chefs respected the beautiful piece if fish and did nothing more (or less) than grill it to perfection.
The strawberry creme fraiche I've cream was delightful, and a very generous portion.

Nice light lunch; bit noisy
TASTE has a relatively small lunch menu but sufficiently varied so there's something for almost everyone. We're mostly vegetarian and low gluten so we sometimes have a problem. I had the buckwheat (soba) noodle salad and my partner had the mushroom risotto. Both were very fresh tasting, meaning they could have come across as heavy given the grains, but weren't. Flavors were a perfect blend. Risotto portion was a bit small but, again, great flavors and unique. Service was casual, friendly, helpful w/o hovering. Prices seemed reasonable for the quality of the food.
I'd definitely return. Might try dinner next time.

Taste is always reliably good.
Taste is always reliably good. Some of the menu items, like the leak and potato soup are outstanding. The atmosphere is quiet and comfortable but the service is sometimes sketchy. The last time I was in with two friends for lunch we weren't asked for a drink order. We had to ask the waitress to take one.
9/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
it was good
A previous visit was marred by poor service especially from the bar, took forever to get a couple of drinks. They seemed to have fixed that, very good service this time. Food has always been good, it was especially good this time.
10/3/2013 12:00:00 AM
We went on a Saturday night prior to a symphony performance. We had a 6:15 reservation, were seated immediately and had a comfortably paced dinner that was well prepared and wonderfully served. We got to the symphony (which was only a one block walk) with 20 minutes to spare. The portions were of excellent size, the wine by the glass was fine, not fantastic, but just fine. While we didn't have cocktails, the bar was busy and the mixed drink menu looked interesting.
We've also been for lunch when we go to SAM. It's a great, affordable place for lunch or dinner if you're in the area. They have a good range of menu choices and source almost everything locally.

TASTE is tasty
TASTE is a great place to go if you're looking for a nice place downtown that's not too loud. I've been several times and the food quality is inconsistent. I've had some great meals there. This last visit was not good: the breaded chicken fillet w/ a tart savory sauce and heavy coconut milk was not good. And our server was terrible: bad attitude and inattentive. He looked annoyed when I showed him my SAM membership card so I could get my 10% member discount. For the entire meal, he'd only check-in with us on his way to do something else...he never actually stopped at our table to ask how we were doing. Service isn't always like this. I've been before and service has been great.

Stumbled on this gem
Was looking for a nice spot for dinner and came up on Taste. I had the grilled albacore. It was perfectly prepared, tender piece of fish. My wife had the cheeseburger that was cooked exactly as she asked (amazing how many places under or over cook medium). They also had a very nice wine list that was heavy with Washington State wines by the glass that paired well with the meal. The server was well informed, came to the table often enough to make sure everything was right but not so much to be intrusive. Will definitely keep this on my list of Seattle go-to places.
10/11/2013 5:00:00 PM
Artsy in the sense of amazing juxtapositions of flavors. It's always fun to eat here as you never know what new items will be available. The first course were really special, and it's easy to make a full meal from three or four items for two people. I appreciate the fact that they have a good variety of wines by the glass.

Unique menu, great service
We went to TASTE on a Saturday night. The menu was creative and interesting. The presentation of the dishes was stellar. Everything tasted fresh and balanced and delicious. The cocktail menu was similarly creative and interesting - a lot of stuff there you won't find anywhere else. Service was fast and very helpful and friendly. A great experience all around.

TASTE is a Great Restaurant
I have eaten at Taste restaurant before and enjoyed it very much. It was excellent this time around, made the more so because of visiting the Peru exhibit at SAM and sharing the meal experience with my husband and n'bor friends. The food was superb (and that's saying something for my husband, in particular, who is not inclined toward 'fancier' meals). Our server was delightful; the service excellent!
Will definitely be coming back!

Good alternative to the Brooklyn and Wild Ginger.
Excellent special of the day (pork chop.)

Gluten Free Friendly
We had dinner at Taste before the Symphony and were surprised by the quality of the food and the fact that I could have a delicious gluten-free dinner. I have eaten lunch here several times, but never dinner. We had only an hour to eat and the server was mindful of our time limitation and gave us extra attention. I also enjoyed the relaxing quality of the place. It is not so hectic and pressured as other downtown restaurants. The oxtail bourguignon was superb, and the almond cake!
11/20/2013 4:00:00 PM
a dinner date ro remember
Before the Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert, we ate at the Taste Restaurant. It was amazing. The daily oysters were to die for! So fresh and clean tasting! I had a Peruvian inspired dish by the name of Sudado de Pescado. Every element of the dish was astounding. Will definitely be eating there again.

Convenient and Super Food
Taste is located at the Seattle Art Museum, one block from Pike Market, one block from Benaroya Syphony Hall and close to downtown shopping. The menu is not extensive, but every item offered sounded great and it was difficult to make a decision. The current menu had several items that were representative of the current Peru exhibit at the Museum. Food was super and a very good wine selection of Northwest wines. Several very good wines were offered by the glass, by the half liter, and full bottle. Will definitely go again

TASTE has good food!
I've been to TASTE several times for lunch and the food varies. Sometimes I've had great lunches there; other times, it's been less than stellar based on which dish you select. I recently had the Shrimp Louie Salad and it was light, generous with shrimp and was just the right size for a nice light lunch. I finished with a platter of cookies...my favorite dessert at TASTE. Overall, the atmosphere is great and if you hit it on the right day & select the right dish, the food can be really good. The menu changes seasonally, too, which is very nice given all the great local produce in the Seattle area.
12/3/2013 4:00:00 PM
We are all members of SAM and dine at TASTE often, individually and as a group. The food is always excellent and changing. We shared tastes of everything. The only thing that disappointed me this time was the smoky risotto with the tuna. The Tuna was cooked excellently, but the risotto was only smoky, without the depth of flavor I am used to at Taste. My bother's "medium" burger was more charred than "medium." Everything else, the gnocchi, the 2 different kinds of Kale, the pork chop, the fries, the desserts, the interesting dipping sauce for the donuts that tasted a bit like molasses...all excellent!
The Wait Staff is always excellent!

Could not ask for more!
Despite the fact that we were held up in traffic, we were warmly welcomed and seated immediately. We really appreciated the location of our table (near the window) as the noise level did not impede conversation. Our server, was the icing on the cake. He was accommodating to our theater time needs, very pleasant and humorous and provided excellent service with a smile. Absolutely top notch! Also the first time to use a SAM coupon and was very impressed.
