Food is great, the chef is always trying to rework the menu. The lighting is terrible....too florescent and cold.

This was our 3rd time dining at Triomphe, & as usual it was Fantastic. The food, service & ambience is what makes Triomphe my favorite restaurant in NYC. Can't wait to return.

One of the best dining experiences!
I went here for the first time over the Independence Day weekend in order to enjoy a nice breakfast before doing some shopping in the Big Apple. This was by far one of the best restaurant experiences ever! Immediately upon arrival I was served coffee and also requested a fresh cup of orange juice. I ordered the stuffed french toast, which was executed to perfection! I applaud the pleasant, professional service and the quiet and elegant atmosphere. I will definitely return here again and again.

Triomphe a Triumph!
One of my favorite places for lunch or dinner. Even though my office moved to the East Side, it's worth the trip and I especially like it for client lunches.
7/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
We dined at Triomphe for the first time on Saturday after attending a show. We were seated in the beautiful white dining room along the wall. Our waiter was solicitous of us and well aware of my pepper allergy from the Open Table reservation. What we will always remember, however, is that a large family was celebrating a birthday and a pair of diners on the other end of the dining room were obviously upset by the occasional noise. The manager was attempting to address her concerns in quiet way when she escalated the situation by yelling across the dining room. The manager escorted her out and it was funny because the rest of us were convinced she was trying to avoid paying! We enjoyed the entertainment and will return!

Terrific place for lunch. Very quiet, excellent food, good service, very quiet, not at all crowded - great for lunch.

What a find!
We were looking for a romantic dinner in midtown Manhattan and found this gem through Open Table. We were pleasantly by the excellent service and superb food. We opted for the prix fixe menu with wine pairings. Wine choices were excellent and the pours generous. Knowledgeable staff, wonderful romantic setting away from the typical midtown hubbub.

The food was outstanding and the portion was more than filling. Wonderful ambiance allowing for great conversation.

Another fabulous breakfast!
I returned here again for breakfast over the weekend, and once again it was a delightful experience. I ordered the French Toast again and it was incredibly tasty and satisfying. The service was top-rate! The menu options are many... there are lighter fare items as well. Will return next week to celebrate a friend's birthday.

A lovely dining room that's perfect for a business lunch. I'd certainly like to go back and have dinner there with my wife. Service is very warm and efficient.

Excellent food, excellent
Excellent food, excellent service! The priz fixe was a treat as paired with wine. One notable detail missed: the waiters seem it unnecessary to re-fold the diner's napkin when they have left table . Strange omission when the restaurant is not even busy. Other than that we will return.
8/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
Our dinner was the highlight of our evening. Service was fantastic and the food was awesome! Will return next time we are in town and will recommend to anyone who is going to be visiting.

Hidden gem of Midtown
I've eaten many meals in New York, and I think so far this is my most memorable, and that's saying something!
We had the tasting menu with separate wines pared with each course. Simply superb! I had the best pork chops I've had in a long time, possibly ever. It brought me back to memories of a small family run restaurant in Paris that I know. The service was top notch.
I HIGHLY recommend.

We'll go back whenever we are in the city - Great experience - actually needed a "little more" light to read the menu - food exceeded expectations

Special occasion dinner on Saturday
Excellent food. Prompt service. Pricey but worth it. It will be hard to dine anywhere else now that the bar was set that high.
8/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
Good first impression
The restaurant is compact but the table layout was okay; five of us were seated comfortably in the middle of the room. Friendly service and fast food serving. We have ordered a variety of food: seafood, lamb, steak etc. Great overall taste. With the nice addition of truffle to a few dishes, everything becomes just a bit more flavorful. Wine list was niche and not over the top expensive.

When friends from London came to town we wanted to take them to a restaurant where we knew we would have wonderful food AND a quiet coversationTriomphe immediately came to mind. There were five in our party, the service was perfectly paced, servers quick with delicious cocktails (and water for our non drinkers). The food was heavenly-- I'm not kidding. Menu isn't huge but the quality and presentation of the food is better than many other restaurants in NY with bigger reputations. Small, intime, and quietly elegant, one feels she might actually be in Paris, not a block from Broadway.
8/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
This was my fourth time having breakfast at this gem of a restaurant. The Belgian waffle was accompanied by a variety of fruit, cream and drizzled with Nutella. This plus coffee with milk was the perfect start to a lovely morning in the Big Apple, which included a trip to Rockefeller Center and Barnes & Noble. I will keep recommending this establishment to family and friends. Tres chic!!!
8/31/2013 12:00:00 AM
Intimate dining room, limited but nevertheless diverse and well rounded menu, as was the wine list. Wait staff friendly but did not know the menu--had to refer allquestions to the kitchen. Room lovely, but inherently noisy due to arched ceiling (also its crowning architectural feature). Delicious fava bean wonton soup to start and equally good five spice Muscovy duck. Dining companion thought the rack of lamb excellent. All characterized by bright fresh flavors. The drawbacks more than compensated for by the food.

Nicely Located & Nicely Done
The Triomphe was an easy walk from thr MoMA and we previously have had wonderful lunch and dinner there. This luncheon experience was again superb. We began with a nice glass of Cote du Rhone, along with a roll and pad of butter with bits of truffle around the edges. You could taste the trufle-delicious. My wife and I both started with a very nice salad special. For an entree, my wife had the crabcake from the "small plates" menu. She said it was one of the two best that she's had. I had the trout special which came with couscous and grilled cauliflower. It was both outstanding and a very ample serving. For dessert my wife had a cheesecake with a wonderful texture. I had their tasty pinapple slice with rum flavor and berries on top.

We had a magnificent time at this restaurant. We enjoyed each course. And our server, Jessica S was wonderful. She allowed us to take our time with the meal and at our own pace.
The bartender also, could not have been more attentive and made the most delicious Manhattan in Manhattan!
9/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
Excellent - I mean it!
The food is delicious about sums it up.
The restaurant is a part of the Triomphe hotel. It is very small and has an intimate feel (but not too fancy or over the top).
Service was excellent and although mid-town pricey well worth the bill.
I will be back.

On our way to the theater...
...we stopped at an elegant small restaurant for cocktails and apps. There were about 6 or 7 small tables and a bar. The service was great, the food was outstanding. The Chicken jus and the Scallops were exquisitely prepared.

A great choice for dinner
We found this restaurant on Open Table and it is a real winner. The event was a pre-theater dinner. The dining room is beautiful—elegant and very tastefully decorated with a hint of contemporary design. Our server, Alberto, was extremely pleasant, very professional and immediately made us feel welcomed. We each had a Martini before dinner (it was perfect). I had Striped Bass and my husband had the Sole Meunier. Both were delicious. Our server made sure that we had a leisure meal, but kept us on time to make our show. Then there is the background music, lots of Frank Sinatra. If you want a truly great NY experience, try this restaurant.

Perfect for anniversary dinner
Booked this place because it had great reviews and is conveniently located next door to our hotel. So glad we choose this! The dishes were wonderfully presented and the taste was oh-so delicious. Our server was attentive to our needs and thus helped to create a marvelous and memorable dinner experience! Five-stars all the way around.

We always enjoy dining at Triomphe. The food has been consistently delicious; and, despite a fair amount of staff turnover, the servers have been solicitous and accommodating. For the first time, the Tasting Menu was available for pre-theater patrons. We were thrilled and loved each beautifully presented course. We look forward to our next visit.
9/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
Love this place!
I almost don't want anyone to know how good it is because I don't want it to lose its calming ambiance. The food is wonderful, service fabulous and at lunch time you almost feel like you have the place to yourself. A little pricy, so it's not something you can do every day, but a great place to have a quiet lunch business meeting.

It puts the "man" in "romance"
I love taking my wife to Triomphe for special occasions such as her birthday. There is always something on the menu that tastes amazing.

Nice, cozy to take a close friend or intimate other.

above norm theatre district
A half star above the usual theatre district restaurants. Food and service are very good but the differentiation come from the lovely room that allows conversation with your group. More civilized than its nearby neighbor.
10/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
Elegant intimate experience
Loved the high ceiling, fit and finish of the room. I assume the architectural details have been the for generations. The cuisine was was imaginative and a bit pricey but worth it for the experience. Wait staff and management was very polite and thoughtful. I'll find a reason to go back.

Great spot for pre-theatre dinner
This small restaurant is a gem. The food is good. The service was attentive, but not in-your-face. My husband and I had the rack of lamb which was done perfectly. We had time for a salad course, the lamb, cheese and coffee before an 8:00 curtain with a 5:45 reservation.
10/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
Food was outstanding, cooked to perfection. I would recommend the seared scallops, with porcini mushrooms they were an absolute delight. Also the roasted garlic mashed potatoe was so creamy and soft.
The flavours throughout the whole meal were well balanced and memorable. However, the desserts were lovely but the cheesecake was not to my taste it had an odd after taste. I would recommend this place for a special occasion or dinner with a friend who really enjoys their French food.
10/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
The seared scallops are out this world!!!! Everything was excellent. The group next to us was a bit too loud but they were the exception. Guys should wear a sports coat as every man had one on, so don't be caught off guard with business casual. We will be back.
10/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
Another wonderful breakfast!
Once again I went to Triomphe over the weekend for breakfast prior to going to the Frick Museum to see the new exhibition featuring Vermeer's "Girl with a Pearl Earring," and as always I enjoyed another fine dining experience. The service is exceptional, the Belgian Waffles and coffee with cream were very tasty and satisfying. Whenever I plan to spend several hours in the city, Triomphe is the place to start with a hearty breakfast!

Theatre district dining
Enjoyed going back to Triomphe. Went for pre-theatre dining. Ambience is very nice. Seems more elegant than DB Bistro next door. Food was very good. Service was good although they forgot a side dish but never charged for it. There is no fixed price pre-theatre menu which tends to make it more expensive compared to other restaurants in the area
11/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
Fabulous service and food!
Whenever I plan on spending the weekend in NY, I frequently stop here for breakfast. The brioche French toast I had last Saturday was absolutely delicious and the service is excellent as always.
11/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
A restaurant where you can actually hear your companion and enjoy a conversation, excellent food, lovely service and surroundings, but not at all stuffy - and not go broke! I feel like I hit the jackpot and can't wait to return for dinner with my husband!
11/3/2013 4:00:00 PM
Food was good and tasty. Service was average. Even though the food was quite tasty the place lacks charm and for the price you end up paying I would probably try somewhere else that has a bit more character.
11/6/2013 4:00:00 PM
I keep returning here frequently for breakfast on Saturday mornings. The service is phenomenal and the food outstanding. This past Saturday I enjoyed the Belgian waffle with seasonal fruit and mascarpone. Very satisfying! I shall return!!!

We were staying at The Iroqouis Hotel so I did not expect a lot from the adjacent restaurant. A tiny card of the menu was available in our room. We wanted something close late night so decided to just grab a bite there for convenience. The waiter/bartender was excellent. He made the best Manhattan we had during our entire stay. We expected to just order some small portion on the menu but when he described the entrees that have been served for years and how they were prepared we took his suggestion and had the venison and coriander rack of lamb. Both were superb. He turned our "snack" into a wonderful dining experience with warm comfortable ambiance.

While traveling to New York with my 3 children, we wanted a decent restaurant within walking distance of time-square. I saw the high ratings and we gave it a try. We were pleased with the menu and although my 3 children are adventurous eaters and did not need one, they kindly offered a few kid friendly options. The food was fabulous. The portions were respectable. Just the perfect amount of service between the hostess, waiter's an sommelier. The wine list was not huge but it was well thought out and an interesting selection. Overall we really enjoyed it. We left pleased with our choice and would definitely consider returning soon. The staff were really nice and preformed their rolls with balance between friendliness and professionalism.

This was the second time dining
This was the second time dining at Triomphe and both occasions were great experiences!
Delicious, innovative food with friendly, efficient service and a good, well priced wine list.
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at Triomphe and were welcomed by the hostess with a complimentary glass of champagne for each of us.
I highly recommend Triomphe.

small and quiet right in the heart of midtown New York City A short but carefully thought out menu Great for conversation

Lovely breakfast, great atmosphere.
Once again I returned for breakfast at this fine, refined establishment. This time around I invited my mom to accompany me. She was equally impressed with the service, decor and food, as was I. The staff is friendly and the food incredibly tasty and satisfying. I had the Belgian waffle again while my mom opted for the Brioche French Toast. They refill your coffee cups for free as you go along. It was a great way to begin a day in the city!

We went to this restaurant for a pre theater meal. Normally just the mention of pre theater conjures up second rate food thoughts. We were pleasantly surprised at he quality of the food and the attentive service. A little out of the way from the main portion of the theater district but, worth the few extra steps.
11/21/2013 4:00:00 PM
Perfect for Pre-Theater
They have an interesting, inventive menu in a quiet atmosphere. We particularly enjoyed the welcome at the bar before dinner, and liked the eclectic mix of patrons to chat with.

Our first visit to Triomphe,
Our first visit to Triomphe, which I found looking for a new place to dine pre-theater;comments from diners were all very positive, and I agree that it is a lovely somewhat French bistro inside The Iroquois hotel; it is small, but well appointed and with a few really clever items on the menu (acorn squash filled wontons in a light broth, and a small quail salad with frisee); I think it is a good place to have in your pre-theater or otherwise theater district repetoire!!
