The Mad Platter has always
The Mad Platter has always been a hidden gem. The food is always spectacular, the service outstanding and the price appropriate. It's the perfect place for a business lunch or a romiantic dinner with that special someone.

So Low Key and Beautiful.
We had a reservation for a late lunch for 6 of us. It was a great gem in a beautiful neighborhood...light fare with a great low key relaxed style about the place, but nice enough to use linen napkins! We had a great table in the back which was next to the kitchen and serving area, but this really wasn't too distracting. The dining room is decorated nicely and fully of bright cheery light. Loved our time here!

I wanted to have a special night out with my girlfriend, and this was the right choice. The atmosphere was homey and romantic and the food was great!

So glad some things never change! It's great that a restaurant can be this consistently excellent after more than 20 years in business. Our meal the other night was perfectly executed with impeccable service, in the same old charming atmosphere with original art and books on the walls and hardwood floors. Loved the tomato fennel soup, the crabcake appetizer, risotto and of course the Chocolate Elvis - but the salad, with greens so fresh I'm sure they came from the garden out back, stole the show. MP's 5 course dinner truly is the best deal in town... come hungry!

Brooklyn Vibe in Nash-Vegas
Walking into the Mad Platter was like walking into a neighborhood gem in my old neighborhood of Park Slope, Brooklyn. Cool, funky artwork (for sale) on the walls, an exposed brick back wall that has to be over 100 years old, casual yet refined atmosphere, friendly service, and much like Park Slope or the Lower East Side of Manhattan, the star of the show was the food. The vegan ginger carrot soup was amazing. The Citrus and Bellagio salads were superb. The duck breast was delicious. The only thing that kept it from being rated outstanding was my paella dish. It was very good, but its over-tomato'd broth and "fishy" mussels left it short of "outstanding." Wine (Williamette pinot noir and French Chardonnay) was very good. We'll be back!

Great, local spot
Mad Platter never lets me down. I took my parents there for Mother's Day brunch, and the food was very good, as usual.

Mother's Day Brunch
We had a leisurely late brunch/dearly dinner. The ambience is unique and different each time we have visited The Mad Platter. The food was exceptional and attractively presented. We shared the Chocolate Elvis for dessert! What a delight! We will definitely revisit The Mad Platter!
5/11/2013 4:00:00 PM
Went to the Mad Platter for the first time on Mother's Day. We were seated right away and quickly attended by our server. The food took a while to get to our table. I was getting a little worried about the time it was taking, but once the food arrived I forgot all about the wait. My partner and I had Eggs Benedict with Steak and with Crab and they were simply out of this world. The Hollandaise sauce was perfect and had a little kick to eat. The eggs were cooked perfectly. Even their iced tea is special. It has a cinnamon flavor to it and was heavenly. Definitely recommend this place to anyone who loves good food. I am hoping the slow service was a fluke and willing to give them another chance. Overall a wonderful experience.

An excellent repast
My wife and I had our first date at mad platter a little over a year ago. We have been trying to get back and just now got to it. It was just as good as we remembered it. The Byzantine appetizer was a great opening, especially the walnut hummus. Her spinach salad and my tomato and fennel soup was spot on. She had the beef filet while I had the corn crusted fish which were both excellent. I ordered a side of the vegetable risotto which was a little under par with the other dishes. No enough seasoning. Topped things off with the crew brûlée. Mmmm mmmm. Excellent service and priced appropriately and an overall good experience. I'll be back

Mad Platter is a winner!
We were in Nashville on business and stayed over a couple of days to celebrate our 40th anniversary. A friend recommended the Mad Platter as a great restaurant for such an occasion. After a bit of a struggle to get the GPS to find the right street, we arrived about 6:30 on a Sunday evening. MP is not a fancy place. It's in Nashville's Germantown neighborhood and a quaint old building that seats about 75 when full. Only two other tables were occupied when we arrived and it never got very busy all evening. Our waiter was outstanding and the food was great and the ambiance was perfect. They even printed "Happy 40th Anniversary" on our menus. Nice touch. Prices are on the higher end, but for a special occasion, that's okay. Enjoy!

Delectable bites in about an hour
This place is perfect if you are looking for delicious food, but do not have the time to wait for hours for seating. We are in and out in under an hour (hour and half if dessert is eaten). The restaurant in perfect for groups of 10 (if you get there early) or if you just want to pop in with your friend. Service was phenomenal and the portions were perfect. We love the MP and go there often whether for lunch or dinner. Try the lunch first to know what you like. One rec: Mushroom Ravioli!

My mother and I traveled to Nashville for a girls trip and started our trip with dinner at the Mad Platter. THe ambience was wonderful - dimly lit, fun decoration, easy to talk to your company. Our service was probably the best we had in Nashville. The waiter (whose name escapes me), was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. For entrees, we tried the trout and risotto - both far exceeding our expectations.
For $20 (added to the price of an entree), you receive an appetizer, soup, salad and dessert. While it sounds like a lot of food, it was actually a great deal (with not too much leftover). It was a great way to experience a lot of their menu.
This was the perfect place to start our trip! Definitely recommend it!
5/24/2013 4:00:00 PM
I know the Mad Platter has been around for years but this was our first time dining there. What a great place! The four of us ordered different entrees and were very pleased with the selection. Service was excellent...attentive but not overbearing. Cudos to the Chef for such good food. The Duck breast was perfectly seasoned and compliented well by the sweet potatoe puree and greens. Same for the Grouper and Filet Mignon. We will definitely eat there again.

Great place for a special dinner
This was my second time there. Went for a nice Father's day dinner. The duck was really delicious and the staff is so friendly. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants a special dinner.

First time at Mad Platter (after several recommendations) for dinner before an event at nearby Nashville Jazz Workshop. Restaurant is in a funky old building on a corner lot, so plenty of light on a summer evening. Menu items are simple and satisfying. Eponymous Mad Platter is an interesting locally sourced appetizer assortment worth a look. Attentive wait staff did a great job. Kitchen is in back out of view, but chef makes the rounds to see diner responses. I particularly enjoyed the fact that noise levels are low; you can have a table conversation without yelling. We were there around 6 on a Friday, and things did not start filling up until 8. Good place for a quiet night out or business. We'll be back.

Girls Night Out
We went to The Mad Platter for girls night after we had delightfully discovered that it was alive and well in Getmantown, though we'd thought it closed a few years back. We observed that it definitely had the ambience to sufficiently impress a dinner date. The sampler appetizer we chose was enjoyable, specifically the bruschetta. My mahi mahi was tender and flavorful. My friend did not enjoy the flavor of the dish she chose but the wait staff and chef were very kind and accommodating in replacing it with a dish she loved and devoured. The dessert list was only approximately 5 items, none of which appealed to us that night, so we skipped it. Will definitely be visiting again!

Our first time to Nashville and first time to Mad Platter - What a delightful experience! Great ambience, excellent food and the best waitress ever!
We HIGHLY recommend this restaurant whether your a local or tourist - simply AWESOME!

Had such a great experience at Mad Platter -- so glad we found it. Brittany was our server and she took very good care of us. We did the 5 course meal and left overly stuffed, but everything was so good it was hard to leave any behind. The duck was probably the highlight of my meal. Don't miss this place!
7/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
Loved the good food and the choice of local vegetables!
7/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
The fish was well done. Make
The fish was well done. Make sure it gets pulled off the line asap and served to preserve correct moisture levels for the customer. As for the shrimp and grits they we great! I'm only saying this because I'm from a seafood based state (LA) and just want others to gain the full flavor.

From the first taste of flatbread
From the first taste of flatbread to the last sip of espresso, every bite of my dinner was perfectly seasoned and cooked. Service was superb and the owner came to visit with us at table.

Fantastic, Unpretentious Restaurant
Our entire party agreed that we each had the best meal we've had in Nashville at the Mad Platter. The food is amazing, the prices are decent and the service is wonderful. It's also refreshing to go to such a fantastic local, farm to table restaurant and not feel like you aren't cool enough to eat there!
7/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
Everything was great. Don't hesitate, just go try it!
8/3/2013 12:00:00 AM
I recommend the Mad Platter when you are ready for a very special meal. The host and staff make you feel special and menu is always different and interesting. The food is fantastic. I can't think of a single negative.
8/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
Will definitely be back!
I had wanted to try The Mad Platter for quite a while and finally was able to go. I was not disappointed! I ordered at blackened grouper sandwich that was served with home fries and fresh fruit for $10.00. And, it was delicious! We will definitely be back!

Special 16th Birthday
We took our niece to celebrate her Sweet 16 at an adult restaurant! The service was great and the food delicious. They even printed commemorative "Happy Birthday" menus for her! We were quite pleased.

It was such an amazing experience. My friends and I loved every bit of our meal. appetizer; amazing! Entree; incredible! everything was so delicious we couldn't say no to dessert, which was also great:-)

We always enjoy our visits to Mad Platter. Cozy environment, great service and fresh food expertly prepared.

Excellent meals and service.
Excellent meals and service. I had the filet of beef and my boyfriend had the duck. Both were incredible. The chef came out and asked if we were enjoying our meals/evening. It was a nice touch. The Chocolate Elvis is a must for dessert but best to share with someone because it is extremely rich :)
9/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
This was our first time at The Mad Platter. I had known of this restaurant for some time but just never had made it there before. When i made the reservation I mentioned that we were celebrating a birthday. When we sat down at the table I noticed that the menu said Happy Birthday at he top and had birthday cake decals on either side. Also the maitre d' and our server made a point to ask who's birthday it was. The food was delicious! We had also asked to have some minor modifications made to s dish and they were more than happy to accommodate us. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

A little bit of wonderland
My fiancée and I visited many different restaurants during a recent trip to Nashville but this was our favorite find. I manage a top ranking fine dining restaurant in Memphis myself so I have fairly high expectations when I decide on other restaurants to visit for special occasions. Grant, our server, was as outstanding as the food prepared by the kitchen staff, of which Grant's father is the chef. Even the other guests in the restaurant were pleasant and had nothing but great things to say about the food and Atmosphere here. Rarely do I ever find myself staying at a restaurant past the point of closing but Grant insisted on having a dessert which was also excellent. We will definitely return but will not leave our wine unattended again ;).

Wonderful as always!
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Nashville. Their menu is consistent but they always have specials. Today I have the lightly crusted peacan trout with green beans and it was divine! The waiter, Daniel, was very attentive but not in an annoying way. He also suggested the soup of the day, clam chowder, and it was wonerful; not overly heavy and very fresh. Great lunch experience!

Perfect date night starter spot.
Fantastic place for a drink and dinner. Lively but not overbearing. The food was fantastic (Shrimp & Grits!!)

My husband and I are moving to Atlanta in 2 weeks, and Mad Platter was the first restaurant on our we-had-to-go-to-before-we-left-Nashville restaurant list. We have spent several anniversaries and birthdays at this restaurant. The food and service are all consistently excellent. The ambience is romantic but not too romantic. You can be dressed up or you can be dressed casually.

Third time here and The Mad Platter continues to amaze us. The food is perfectly prepared and presentation is fabulous. Staff is attentive and this is our FAVORITE Nashville restaurant.
10/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
I chose MadPlatter because of all the great things I had heard about it. The menu had great choices. Food takes awhile to arrive (to be expected). It was excellent (but did have to much salt to my taste, but won't hold that against them).
Service was decent. My server was friendly and didn't hover. Overall, I would recommend this resturant to anyone looking for a romantic place for a special occasion. Entrees ranged from $18-$30, for those that are wondering.
10/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food & service was top notch. Loved the mimosas-- portions are suitable for sharing!!

Perfect Anniversary Dinner!
Huge shoutout to our server and the rest of the staff at The Mad Platter! We enjoyed our dinner and the overall experience as first timers! We will definitely return.

dinner with friends
A table for six in this Germantown gem. Ashley was a wonderful hostess. Chef inquired as to our opinion of our dinner. All in all highly recommend. Good value.

The Mad Platter has quickly become our favorite spot in Nashville. This time we brought friends with on our trip from Chicago and they were as impressed with their first visit as we were with our four visits. Corey makes you feel so welcomed when you walk in the door and Sam continues to be the most attentive server that we have ever had the pleasure to know. Once you get past the amazing staff and beautiful decor, the food is beyond belief. We have eaten there 5 times now, tried something different each time and the only words that come to mind are delicious, innovative, exciting, fantastic, scrumptious...need we say more!
We are relocating to Nashville in the Spring of 2014 and we look forward to many more wonderful dinners and brunches!
11/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
It's about the food.
We made it back to the Mad Platter after a hiatus, and were reminded what a great experience they provide. Quiet and unpretentious ambiance, attentive, friendly staff, but it really is great to visit a place that cares about serving local produce prepared creatively. We started with Tennessee-sourced paddlefish caviar on potato cake with creme fraiche. I did not know that such a delicacy existed. Wife went with duck entree, I did filet, both perfect. Tiramisu dessert was as good as any I have had. Off then to a show at the nearby Nashville Jazz Workshop, where I saw a few people who had the same dinner plans. Why not?

Consistently good food
The first time I went to this restaurant was several years ago, and it took a long time to get our food. This time, service was great! They were quick to welcome us, take our order, and bring us our food, without ever making us feel like we needed to hurry up. The menu changes each day, and is very creative with how the flavors are mixed within a plate. The ambiance is nice, good for an after work dinner with friends, or a nicer romantic evening dinner. Nice wine list, short beer list, and a few good basic cocktails.

A Special Meal & Wine Pairing Event
My wife and I attended the restaurant's special dinner and wine event. It was well-prepared and well-served. We expect to return for regular evening dining and a future special event.

I was a little skeptical when we walked in at first since we were the only ones in the restaurant, but once the food was delivered we were impressed. The waitress was funny and helpful. It is definitely a great atmosphere and worth the visit.

I had a lunch there about 1 year ago and had the best reuben sandwich in Nashville. I made an effort to leave work just for that sandwich for my birthday! It is great and I am a New Yorker!

We really liked the intimate
We really liked the intimate setting of the restaurant. However, there were only two of us in the party, we ordered the same thing, yet our waiter brought one of us the wrong entree. When he went to fix it he brought out the correct entree cooked medium rare instead of medium well. The manager made things right and apologized profusely. While the double screw up on the same entree was very disappointing especially at a restaurant like the Mad Platter, once we ate, the food was fantastic. Mistakes happen. I will try it again.

Twas the night before Thanksgiving
When normal people were cleaning silver & finishing their turkey prep, we went out for dinner. FABULOUS evening out for the two of us. Dinner started with the soups du jour: creamy mushroom & Italian chicken egg-drop-ish. I'm sure it had a name, but it was super good & a wonderful start to dinner on a cold evening. Hubby had the beef tip linguini. The beef was tender, and the cream sauce was well seasoned and not heavy. I had the rack of lamb: medium rare. The lamb was perfectly cooked and the ratatouille vegetables were firm and well seasoned. Knowing what was in store for us tomorrow, we skipped desert. I'm sure we won't do that next time.
Service was attentive. The water glasses stayed full, and the decaf coffee was fresh!

Quaint Location & Great Food
The food quality was excellent, the service was great, and they have an extensive wine list. I loved the large offering of small plates as most restaurants have too big of portions for me. It's not a loud or noisy restaurant so would be great for a date night as well.
