Old world charm and Classic
Old world charm and Classic French service. Attentive waiters, who were not intrusive but treated all guests with great care. Perfect for a special occasion where people could really talk to each other and hear each other unlike many new trendy spots in Manhattan, where the noise level prohibits conversation. Food was excellent.

Relax and Enjoy!
Being out of the way means a great epicurean getaway. Dining the way it should be, but is so hard to find in today's hectic life style. Service was perfect, attentive, friendly and enthusiastic and the food fresh and innovative. When you think I need an enjoyable break, this is the place.

Great Trsditional French Menu
Wonderful food, service and ambience for a reasonable prefix price. Small, quiet, elegant Dining Room, with attentive staff. The Dover Sole was sublime.

Enjoyed food. Well presented, appropriate portions and tasty. Recommend lamb chops. Wait staff ver god. Only issue was service a little to rushed for a French restaurant.

Always a pleasure
Saturday we were six people and everyone enjoyed their meal. The dessert cart is always a winner and the fact that you can have a conversation in normal tones is priceless. We go regularly and don't hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet place for a good meal and excellent service.

Classic French Lives!
Grateful to have one high end classic French restaurant left. Why cant other restaurants offer Beef Wellington, Boeft Bourginon, Cocqillle St Jacques and the like on menus anymore. Plus Le Perigord does it with courtly service by seasoned wait staff who actually seemed to have made a career of it and are unobtrusive and professional. And this is not about endless noise and buzz; you actually go here to talk to the people at your table and hear what they say, rather than to be part of an overall buzz and din. This is a special place- quietly elegant, formal enough for a special occasion, yet not dauntingly so. May the owner live long and prosper so we can continue to enjoy this wonderful restaurant!

Paris in Sutton Place
Le Perigord was the second restaurant my son was brought to. So to celebrate his milestone birthday, it seemed appropriate to go back. Although my son is much larger than he was on his first visit (as indeed are Georges Briguet and me) and able to walk it was the same place classicly French food, a proper french wine list with surprisingly reasonable prices for serious vintages. My son looked up from his foie gras and said this is exactly like the places Papa took me to in Paris.
It is, it was, it will always be the real thing, a French restuarant. Not everything needs to be reimagined. Go-- you will be delighted.

Great as always! we are already
Great as always! we are already going back in a couple of weeks with friends. It's like home to us. George, the owner, always makes us feel very welcomed and his staff is very gracious and professional. Loved the vegetable tart and my filet was delicious. thank goodness there is still this elegant French menu available at this level in NYC.

Authentic French cuisine in midtown
Beef Wellington made to perfection. Homemade French cuisine well executed.
6/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
... Was the greeting that we received from the Captain the first time we had dinner at Le Perigord. I only wish that I had this kind of service at home, and that I could cook like that. I love Le Perigord. Very low key; great food.

Seemed a bit understaffed
Seemed a bit understaffed compared to prior visits, but still maintained very good level of service. Usually quieter than this visit , but most noise was from one table of seven.

Great food, world-class service in a quiet, dignified atmosphere. It was almost like a scene out of "Mad Men." This place makes dining an event. Do not leave without sampling the "desert wagon". I will definitely return.

My absolute favorite French
My absolute favorite French restaurant in NYC. Classic French food along with wonderful service. Duck carved tableside, a perfect beef Wellington. Choose from the remarkable buffet froid to start. The dessert cart is amazing, or have an airy souffle.

A classic pleasure
They were a little under-staffed, but the staff that was on duty was highly courteous and professional. This is how French food has been served in fine restaurants for decades, and we enjoyed it greatly. The lobster bisque starter was fantastic. The only reason I'm downgrading the food to 3 stars is that the sides with my entrée were not served hot; my wife's were, so her plate was probably prepared a little while after mine. Otherwise, it was all quite good.

Very nice; great service
Perigord offers an old world French restaurant experience in cozy, comfortable setting. The food is not revolutionary, but is is very good. Beautiful cooked, lots of good choices; nice brioche bread on the side. When the restaurant is very full its gets noisy, so restaurant week there is loud.. But when its less busy, its fine

Not a young person hot-spot
I picked this restaurant for the restaurant week menu. I had never heard of or been here before, and now I know why. Except the 2 other tables of obviously restaurant weekers (young people like us) it seems like a neighborhood go-to for the Sutton Place crowd. Don't misinterpret this review - the food was quite good. But the atmosphere and service reminded me of the Italian place across the street from my parent's apartment where they eat once a week. A neighborhood staple.

Le Perigord Quintessential Dining
Eating at LePerigord is an enjoyable moment. The pate was especially delicious as was the crab cake . Portions are just the right size. And beautifully presented. The service is impeccable. My guests and I were able to have a conversation without having to shout . We are looking forward to another evening out at LePerigord. I heartily recommend it to persons who enjoy relaed elegant ding.
7/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
Good on all counts. There is a reason that Le Perigord is still around after all these years.

Fabulous French food and extraordinarily good service! We will visit again.

Old fashioned NY restaurant.
You can actually hear conversations. Lovely service and no nouvelle cuisine. Not hip, but terrific

Le Perigord as a delight.
Le Perigord as a delight. The staff were pleasant, courteous and attentive. The food was divine. I plan to return as soon as possible.
7/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
Nice ambiance and clientele.
While I love that waiters don't hover and constantly interrupt a conversation, we had to ask for everything: for a menu, to Order a drink, dinner, etc. plenty of staff but in attentive.
7/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
Stands up to its reputation
A delightful great during restaurant week. The greeting from the head waiter made us feel we had returned to our French chateau! After that the service just continued at this high level. The sea bass and salmon were exceptional. We were provided the same attention and care as if we were old, cherished customers. That, the food and the perfect martini, made this a wonderful all around experience.
7/30/2013 12:00:00 AM
Good french experience
After reading all the previous reviews I went there with no more expectations than to have great french food. It is true that the restaurant looks old and also the people that work there and most of the people that were eating were aged, I must say that all the crew members were peying attention to all our needs. Water and bread were never absent as there was one of the waiters coming all the time to see if there was something missing and replenishing. The food was very good, made with very good quiality products and all was really tasty. The Tarte aux légumes au beurre acidulé was amazing, and the Chocolate mousse with grand marnier sauce so delicious!!! Overall, I rally liked the experience of dining there.
7/31/2013 12:00:00 AM
The service and professionalism of the staff was excellent. They were friendly but not too friendly. The cuisine was excellent classical French. I would recommend Le Perigord to anyone interested a fine dining experience.

Pleasant Summer Luncheon
I was delayed on the bus. My guest was on time for our luncheon reservation. My guest was seated and ordered one of my favorite bottles of wine. (Which is difficult to find at a reasonable price) We ordered the price fixe lunch. I thought it would not be enough to eat. I was pleasantly surprised. It was more than one person could eat. After dinner drinks and coffee topped off a scrumpcious lunch. The service was elegant and not overbearing. During restaurant week many restaurants rush you in and out and serve the food too quickly,. this was not the case at Le Perigord. This restaurat is on my list for a September dinner.
8/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great classical French Food and superb service! I had the quiche for appetizer, veal kidney for entree and raspberry soufflé for dessert. Only one minor thing can be better is the bread in the bread basket was cold.
8/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
I ordered something I don't quite get from the restaurant week menu but my friends did order some nice stuff. Overall speaking, the food was great! But I think the bread could be better than this.
8/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
A real treat
We thought the wine list was a little limiting, but otherwise this is a real good restaurant. The salmon was delicious and the staff were very accommodating. Definitely a treat to be enjoyed as often as one can afford it.
8/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
This is New York dining at its finest--the way all fine restaurants used to be--what a treat!
8/8/2013 12:00:00 AM

Classic French food in a calm
Classic French food in a calm setting with excellent service. The prix fixe is reasonable for such wonderful food: duck carved table side, Dover sole, rack of lamb. The dessert cart is a delight and the souffles are so light they would float away if not for the perfect sauce.

Have outlived expense account !
My only chance for eating at Le Perigord was Restaurant Week and I took it! It was a delight. The banquette seat, the service, the lovely meal and hearing "Voila!" I wish the restaurant would have chosen to offer wine pairings as other restaurants did for restaurant week. With such an extensive collection of wines to offer, it would have made the meal that more special. We chose a wine we knew but drink quite often. Perhaps I will be fortunate enough to return and partake of the regular menu.
8/10/2013 5:00:00 PM
The luncheon was perfection.
This is an ultra professional restaurant in the European sense...in other words: impeccable, perfection. Everything is
designed for the pleasure and comfort of the customer --- and NO BAD MUSIC!!!
8/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
Lovely decorations and set-up. The food was decent, and their bread was soft. Generally speaking, this restaurant was nice. I would bring my mother here.
8/14/2013 5:00:00 PM
We love the highly professional and unobtrusive attentiveness we always get at Le Perigord. The food is beautifully and classically prepared.

Decent restaurant for brunch
We went with another couple during restaurant week. The restaurant was not that crowded so we had good service. After ordering, the food arrived promptly. Food portion was good for a French restaurant. Everything was tasty , but I was very thirsty afterward. Otherwise it was all right.
8/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
The place has seen better days and the service is a little off. However , the food is excellent and updated, equal to top French in city.
The wine list is very well priced.
If they could just update the decor and atmosphere again, would rank as top restaurant in NYC.

A Grand Lady still good!
This longtime, quiet oasis is an enjoyable respite from noisy, 'happening' places overly impressed with themselves and which have become unbearably loud and annoying. Here you will find elegant service, good food in a dignified atmosphere where you will receive refined treatment.
9/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
Le Perigord remains consistent
This restaurant upholds the traditional french cuisine and has avoided food fads!
The souffles at the end were phenomenal.

great classic french food, very attentive service. good atmosphere

Old school French
It's a little dated, and that's a compliment. No trends here, and it isn't a hot spot. It's just a top tier solid restaurant for classic continental dining.
10/17/2013 5:00:00 PM
This was our second visit to Le Perigord and we were not disappointed. Our meals were outstanding, beef bourguignon and a free range chicken were done perfectly, and the service was impeccable. I am especially fond of the dessert cart with tempting items like a raspberry tart and a smooth chocolate mousse!
10/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
No wonder this restaurant has been around for an eternity. We came in from Long Island to sample the old world charm of Le Perigord and were not disappointed. The cream soup with muscles, Beef Wellington, and meaty Duck were delicious. I made a request of some of that famous soup to take away, and was gifted with an empty wine bottle brimming with soup. Tartin and soufflé for desert were stellar.
My only disappointment was the room was dated.
We will return. A must spot for deliciousness.

Fabulous French Restaurant
What a treat to enjoy the fantastic food at a lovely French restaurant that brings back the "good old days".

Destination for the (sophisticated)
Superb wine list and expertly prepared cuisine. The service and staff is first class. I was recently introduced to this 50 year old restaurant. I wish I spoke French.
12/3/2013 4:00:00 PM
Still going strong
After almost 50 years, one would expect a restaurant to slide a little, but our dinner at Le Perigord last Friday was as terrific as ones we've had twenty and thirty years ago. Every dish (foie gras, escargot, liver, lobster) was done to perfection, but with enough modern twists (loibster ina coriander broth) that it didn't feel at all stale. And the dessert cart - oh my, they're sugar pushers, encouranging us to try mulitple great cakes, mousses, etc. We'll be going more often.

One of the Best
This is an excellent restaurant, expensive, but worth it. The food and service were superb. The wine list was excellent, but "too French" and I wish they had a wider selection of USA-made wines, e.g., from California and Oregon. The choices were good but very limited.
