I had originally chosen a different venue for our group. At the last minute, we were forced to choose a new location. My husband and I had eaten here two days prior, so I thought lets go for it! It ended up being the perfect setting. Phillip just so happened to be our waiter both times and actually remembered us! Food was incredible! The service was outstanding! Thank you for an amazing experience....will be back next year!

Food was very good, but not
Food was very good, but not great. My one complaint is that we did ask for the food to be spicy but it was far from that. So if you really do like spicy food, ask for really spicy. Service was very friendly. Wish I could comment on the price/value but my dad picked up the check. Thanks Dad!

We has a great time at Chola.
We has a great time at Chola. There were 7 of us in our party. We arrived early for our reservation and we were given tables in the bar to have a drink before our dining table was ready. We had an amazing meal and great drinks. We can't wait to go back. All the food, was beautifully presented and all the flavors were just right. Nice and spicy.

The best Indian food we've
The best Indian food we've ever had. The appetizer Sham Sevra (?) is amazing...homemade paneer wrapped in spinach leaves that are slightly crisp in an amazing nut masala sauce. The chai and mango lassi are the best. Everything was amazing.

As always the food was perfect. We order many appetizers to give us a variety of tastes. The staff is always so helpful and nice and it's a great before theatre selection.

A true Indian cuisine gem.
the perfect combination of location, service, variety and price. my favourite Indian restaurant for lunch and dinner.Chola caters to both vegetarians and others with a great variety of dishes and accompaniments. The naan bread and dosas also impress.

Food was great, service attentive.
Food was great, service attentive. A great neighborhood spot. Not a bar scene and it was on the quiet side, but just full enough to not be empty on a Saturday night.

Love the Buffet
Chola has good selection of delicious Indian fair.
It tends to be crowded, but it speaks to the good value.
We've been there a few times and always enjoy ourselves.

It's Just Dinner!
Food is very tasty--and menu includes lots of things you don't see in every Indian restaurant. This is a very nice place, not extraordinary. A real pleasure to be able to just enjoy a reasonable dinner at a reasonable price--sometimes eating out isn't about top of the line, cutting edge, super pricey and rarified dining. Sometimes it's just dinner!

truly eclectic indian food
Chola doesn't disappoint in their menu options - they promise a wide mix of Indian options, and they really do have way more options than your average palak paneer or tikka masala. Southern and Northern Indian cooking and a wonderful mix of flavors.

Great Indian Food
Nothing to add other than the menu was interesting, the food was absolutely delicious, portions were generous, and prices were reasonable. Definitely worth the visit. Or revisit. Also, a good selection of vegan dishes. For me 4 stars is a great review.

A genuine experience with varied Indian food in a relaxed place.
For the more courageous I suggest asking spicy.
Definitely recommend to friends who enjoy dining experiences.

Nice place for a date
I went with a friend but would say this is a nice place for a date, too. Decent variety on the menu, with vegan options, which I very much appreciated. Lots of vegetarian options, too. They didn't ask me how spicy I wanted my food, and I forgot to mention it, so my entree was very bland, but I wouldn't say that's really their fault—I like my Indian food very spicy and I should have said so. I would like to go back and request the dish much spicier and see how I like it (I ordered the navratan korma). The dish itself was fine, just bland. I really liked the appetizer I got, which was potato & onion pakoras (potatoes & onions in chickpea batter deep-fried with mint & tamarind chutneys). Their Bloody Marys are really good, too.

Best Buffet Lunch
Not only is the Indian food plentiful, delicious, and varied, but the under $15.00 price can't be beat! A true value in Manhattan!

I never knew I liked Indian food. In fact, I was sure I did not like it. Until Chola. Excellent dishes, magnificently prepared. I am now a convert. And I will unequivocally be back.

Cute littlle place with a nice lunch buffet. We ordered off the menu. Nice vegan options.

with both delicous meat and vegetarian choices. A go-to favorite for lunch! Just remember it's a big meal at lunch time that might be followed by an unexpected nap!

Fantastic indian food
Food is SO TASTY and different from the usual Indian. I highly recommend Chola for those who like Indian food!

I booked a birthday party at Chola and although at first I wasn't sure if they would be able to handle it, they had a beautiful table for us already set up. They had a nice selection of wine and drinks and the timing for all the courses was nicely spaced out. You never know about that when you are having a party you hope that the staff understands this and Chola staff did.
The food was absolutely amazing and all the guest agreed at the end of the night that they would return again especially those who are in the neighborhood. Over all we had a nice experience and definitely reasonably priced for the mid-town east side. I highly recommend it.

We started with a cauliflower appetizer in spicy chili sauce. It is now a must-have.
Excellent lamb, curries and vegetable dishes. Waiters perhaps too attentive.

My go-to place for Indian
I love Indian food and when I want to go to a "nicer" Indian place, this is my choice. The location is inconvenient for me but it's still where I like to go. There are plenty of Indian places all over, especially if you want to spend a little less, but this is a good one for a more dressy evening.

Better quality Indian buffet
Better quality Indian buffet lunch. Noise level is high.

Don't miss the lunch buffet! It is amazing fresh food (not always the case with Indian buffets). Lots of different varieties. The value is outstanding. You will not go home hungry. The wait staff is also very accommodating and extremely friendly (also not always the case in Indian restaurants).
If you are in NYC, definitely go to this restaurant.

Best Indian food ever!
My husband and I just had another wonderful dining experience at Chola last Saturday night. We have been coming here for approx. 8 years and we have always had nothing less than delicious meals here. The staff is warm and accommodating, which makes dining here even more rewarding.
From our appetizers, masala dosa and a spinach and cheese combination in a tangy nut sauce, to our entrees, lamb vindaloo and chicken korma, the food was delicious. The food always tastes authentic.
We have taken several out- of state family members to Chola when they come to visit. Many of them have said it was the best Indian food they've ever had.
Thanks again to Chola for a special dining experience!

Tasty & Hot (temperature)
Really nice selection of very fresh dishes. Naan was just right and the sauces were delicious. Spice heat ranges available for the full spectrum; very high quality. Service was great; attentive without hovering and we never felt rushed. Will absolutely visit again when we're in town.

New (for me) midtown restaurant
Great Indian food, lovely atmosphere. We were three of us, so shared several starters then also shared a couple of Tandoori mixed grills. Because of our schedule, our reservation was for and early Sunday dinner (5:00 pm) so we were alone in the restaurant for almost an hour before other diners started trickling in. Hence the "Quiet" for Noise Level. Perhaps it got a little louder as it filled up later in the evening, but for us it was perfect.
