Their lobster bisque is fantastic! We also enjoy their specials.

Food and service were good.
Food and service were good. The most difficult part of the evening was trying to find a parking spot.

I used to live in the neighborhood - The Raw Bar was a special place to drink wine and wave at the tourists passing by on the cable car - It was a Romantic Friday Evening Experience. After 12 years away from The City, I returned to find that Old City neighborhood charm still there and the owners still personally attending to their patrons. And the food was great.
The date didn't work out, but the Seafood House & Raw Bar is a true San Francisco Gem

Lived up to reviews posted
Lived up to reviews posted on Open Table. Somewhat limited fresh fish menu, but what was available was very tasty. Try the oysters. On the Hyde Street cable car line which makes access very handy. Knowledgable wait staff.

This is a high quality, healthy
This is a high quality, healthy choice for seafood at a reasonable price. Also, you can get in for dinner same day on the weekends, which is no small feat for a quality restaurant in San Francisco. They seated us right on time with our reservation and the service was attentive without being overbearing. Two of us had the fresh halibut prepared in parchment paper with vegetables and potato, which was one "catch of the day" and it was both spectacular and low fat, finished with an orange zest. My daughter, who is a CIA trained and a total foodie, had the cioppino and said is was really good also. In addition, we had a Russian River Zin to wash it down which was a very good wine and again, reasonably priced for Russian Hill. I will return.

Hyde Street Seafood is a wonderful
Hyde Street Seafood is a wonderful experience in every way. It's our favorite neighborhood place. Over the 15 years we've been enjoying --- it never disappoints.

Everything about The Hyde Street is special...the setting, the service, the preparation and presentation of the food, everything. The oysters and the Alaskan Halibut cooked in paper were perfect. You will not be disappointed.

Fish is always in style
Relaxing and enjoying the coolness of this neighborhood gem. We had been here years ago and was happy to find it s still going strong. Food was outstanding, cooked perfectly, there s something about parchment paper. Perfectly sized portions surrounded by lovely vegatables and potatoes. Since the desserts are homemade we ended up trying 3 of them. That was a surprise to our server and they were all delightful in their own way. We earned a long walk back to our downtown hotel. Great night in San Francisco.

Had high hopes and the restaurant did not disappoint. Everything exceeded expectation: The service, the oysters, and the entrees! The restaurant does not advertise itself as a beer place, and its selection of such is consistent with this; though the usual suspects are offered, and on tap. The wine selection, however, is good.

Lovely little restaurant
We went here after getting a recommendation from a friend. It really is a little gem of a place with a great atmosphere, friendly staff and beautiful seafood. Would absolutely go again.

Incredible seafood dishes
I loved this place so much that I ate here 2 nights in a row! Johnny was VERY personable and polite and made me feel like a regular. Ate here with work colleagues and then had to bring my Dad to experience great food and the best lobster bisque in the world :) I can't wait to come here again when I'm next in SFO. Stay great!

I was dining alone, but had a wonderful meal and attentive service. The food was excellent from bread to dessert. I had the stuffed trout which was delicious and well set off by vegetables and red potatoes. My dessert was fresh berries in whipped cream and each berry was firm, ripe and sweet. I was offered a seat by the window (prime location) and my drink and each dish was served promptly, but gave me plenty of time to savor each course. I can't wait to return with my husband to share this true culinary gem.

My wife and I are from the South and were first timers to SF. A relative, who visits SF annually, recommended Hyde Street Seafood House. It was all they said it was...a laid back neighborhood place with great food and friendly service. The Escargot was fresh and tender combined with the fresh, local Sourdough, you can't go wrong. We shared the Garlic Roasted Prawns and Salmon En Papillote and they were superb. The Service was an excellent exhibition of team work between two servers who seemed to read our minds.
We will highly recommend Hyde Street to all our friends and associates visiting SF.
Do note that they do not have a full bar. Beer and wine only. But as good as it was, who cares?

The Hyde St Seafood Bar is a consistently good place for seafood. The Cioppino is one of the best our family's had. The oysters, usually from three different areas, are always fresh. The staff is friendly and bends over backwards to accommodate our needs.
You can count on getting good, fresh seafood every time and at a reasonable price! There's a reason it's been there for so many years.

We visited Hyde Street Seafood years ago when we were in SanFransico, and were pleasantly surprised that it was still operating.
The oysters were fresh and tasty. We also chose different fishes in the parchment paper, they were flavorful and fresh. The service was very attentive.

a small gem
This restaurant gave off a very New York neighborhood place vibe. It was very small but the food quality and service were great. One slight disappointment was the lobster bisque. Everyone raves about it and while it wasnt bad - it was not the "to die for" experience that others have raved about. It was thin and not amazingly flavorful. The fish main courses were super.

We enjoy very much walking one block down the hill to eat here. We feel welcomed as family and the staff is always sweet and perfect.

We had seafood Entrees "en papillote", specialty of this place and is very good.
Decoration with old nautical Charts on the walls is nice and provides sea atmosphere.
Unfortunately we had a table with partial look into the kitchen and very narrow bench to sit on.

like home, reliable quality of food and service. under-stated pleasant ambiance, diverse clientele, quiet.

I don't know why it had been
I don't know why it had been so long between my trips to Hyde Street Seafood House. Visitors from out of town are always most impressed by this place! Located right along the scenic cable car tracks this cute and romantic restaurant delivers the goods. The service is excellent. The lobster bisque is not to be missed and everything else we had was delicious. My Scallops Bearnaise with vegetables and potatoes was delightful and my friend's Grilled Swordfish was excellent. We left no room for dessert on this trip but I remember enjoying them on previous times. It won't be so long before my next return!

Thank you Hyde Street Seafood
We made reservations for dinner for our 5 year wedding anniversary- they resserved a table next to the window so we could watch the Cable Cars roll by. The food was terrific and their service was impeccable. We had raw clams on the half-shell, shrimp coctail, lobster bisque and dover sole. The lobster bisque was my favorite. I will definitely come back.

Excellent straight-ahead seafood
A very elegant presentation of simple seafood dishes. The en papillote fish preparation works well, and they had a nice selection of diverse oysters, all of them good. It's hard to go wrong here, if you like seafood.

Outstanding fish in.parchment
Excellent preparation of the various seafood in parchment dishes.

Good food, small portions
Our food was great, though the portions were quite small. The service was quite friendly, though not as attentive as we'd have liked. The restaurant is small and cozy - great for a date.

...was the special that night and it was just that, special!

Loved this place! Great food, wines and service. Not expecting what we found, wonderful place to spend an evening.

If you are looking for a touristy place to dine in San Francisco, look elsewhere. Otherwise, if you like well prepared seafood at a very fair price jump off the cable car at the top of Hyde St and walk a few steps. We liked it so much 6 years ago that we have told countless people about it and this time we walked up from Fisherman's Wharf. We were happy we did! The fish in papiotte, whichever one you choose, is a full meal wrapped in parchment - delicious.
Hope we don't have to wait another 6 years to get back!

Great place. We'll be back.
I had the garlic prawns, which I really liked; my husband had swordfish and said it was the best he's had in years.

Best discovery this weekend
We're only occasional visitors to San Francisco and love to find new places to eat. This was the best find of the weekend. The fish was fresh, delicious and the preparation was perfect. The "paper bag" method of cooking is honestly not my favorite, but I ate every morsel in the wrapping. The crab bisque is not to be missed. No tiny sprinkle of crab here, it's loaded! Everything was perfect and we've already told quite a few friends about it. Love this place!

Stumbled Upon Greatness
My sister and I were on our way back from a trip and figured why not stop somewhere in San Francisco?
Mistake trying to walk in anywhere around 7 on a saturday night but after searching for quite awhile on Yelp, Urbanspoon and Open Table we discovered this place!
Resturant is very cute and clean with a nautical theme (fits with the seafood of course)
Our server was named Johnny and he was fantastic!
My sister had the raviolis -which were literally the best & freshest tasting I have ever had!
My halibut was awesome too!
Ended the night with their "Secret Coffee" which was perfect combination of decadent and alcoholic hahaha!
Overall awesome experience, awesome bang for your buck. (Not too pricey at all)
Thanks for the great experience!

Will go back!
Have been wanting to try this restaurant for awhile because of recommendations from Russian Hill neighbors and other friends. Pleasantly surprised by quality of food. The combination seafood special was simply delicious. Everyone was pleased with what they ordered. It was a quiet Monday night , perfect place for leisurely visiting with friends. Charming restaurant.
