Best kept secret
This was a real roll of the dice... After looking online for any reviews, I wasn't sure what to expect. My bf and I went to dinner here with 2 other couples, and it was actually very very good. I'm surprised there isn't a bigger buzz about it. We ordered a ton of tapas, all delicious and mostly vegetarian (which was hearty enough to feed all of us meat eaters :) ) the staff was quick and charming in helping us decide which mezzas we wanted. The prices were excellent -avg. $9 per mezza. Best of all was the lighting/mood. Really unique and sexy, and perfect for a date or a group of friends. Definitely going back!

We were visiting Washington,
We were visiting Washington, DC with our family and went to Neyla for dinner on a Saturday evening. They seated us promptly at a roomy table and imediately brought a plate of pita chips, dip, and olives. We sampled several of the Mezze (including the falafel, hommus, tabbouleh); all were excellent and made even better by the basket of hot pita bread that simply melted in our mouths. The chicken shish taouk and beef kebobs were very good, and the branzino (in a marinade of lemon, olive oil, and oregano) was outstanding. The service was fast paced (a bit chaotic) but attentive. We skipped dessert (as Georgetown Cupcakes beckoned from around the corner) but they looked good from a distance. Neyla is a great dining option in Georgetown!

Authentic, fresh Lebanese gem
Fresh, authentic and creative Lebanese cuisine are the hallmarks of this neightborhood gem in the Georgetown area of Washington, DC. All the traditional Lebanese staples are here (hummus, babaganouj, fatoush, taboulieh, falafel and much more), served beautifully. The mezze menu is extraordinary - beyond the "usual" Middle Eastern fare in the U.S. Freshly made, piping hot pita is served, and the kebabs are prepared over an open coal fire in the heart of the dining room. Service was meticulous and very friendly on our Sunday night occasion. House-made desserts, including baklava and kanafe, were outstanding. A nice wine list compliments the service. The dining room is very welcoming.

Great food and service and
Great food and service and atmosphere but too loud to have a good conversation
3/21/2013 5:00:00 PM
Perhaps the sound system can be re-assessed, whereby the louder volume speakers are positioned nearer the bar area and the other speakers at the corners of the room can have lower volume so that diners hear each other and not yell at each other. We had a party of 5 and we were yelling to be heard. tHe music was too loud and because it was already upbeat, it sounded even louder.

This place is a must try!!!
This place is now our favorite restaurant in DC. The food was out of this world! The small plates and big plates are all meant to be shared. The cocktails, wine, desserts were delightful. This place is a good value. The space is well laid out and not over crowded. The service was impeccable, informative and pleasant.

Cozy and romantic
This place was really nice. I loved everything about it. The only drawback was the food. As a person who's very familiar with Middle Eastern dishes, all different entrees that we tried at Neyla was kind of spiced the same - lots of allspice and clove. I just wish they'd expand their menu a bit and add a little variety. Other than that, if I lived in Washington DC, I would make it a regular spot.

My wife and I chose Neyla
My wife and I chose Neyla for its location near a concert we were to attend. We had never been and had no particular expectations. What a terrific surprise! First, the food was outstanding, made with the freshest of ingredients, meticulously prepared, very delicious, and beautifully presented. Second, the service is impeccable: the wait staff are well trained, formal but not snooty, and extremely attentive -- a rarity in the US! Third, and important to us because of hearing impairments, they honored our request to set us in a quiet area (which they have). We can't wait to tell our friends and can't wait to return. Neyla is a superbly managed restaurant, a tad pricey but well worth it for the food and the experience.

I just love Neyla! The food
I just love Neyla! The food is superb, the restaurant is beautifully decorated and the waiters and waitresses are attentive and helpful. For the first time, we sat outside as the weather had warmed up, and I was pleasantly surprised how quiet it was--easy to have a conversation over good food, even though it's close to busy Wisconsin Ave. I live in Adams Morgan, but go over to Neyla's all the time.

Worth the wait
Had to wait for an outdoor table but the host kept an eye on us at the bar so we weren't forgotten. A large party before us caused our dinners to be delayed quite a bit, but our waiter kept us informed, and brought two desserts on the house. While there is a list of entrees, one can chose an assortment of small plates instead, and all were delicious, including the bread and dipping suace that arrives complimentary. I am not a fan of baklava but would definitely order it again here.
4/12/2013 4:00:00 PM
exotic; slightly underwhelming
entree portion was small. maybe that's by design. (entrees were relatively small part of menu)
I had the branzini sea bass.... it was very good. The rice was a smooth complement - some kind of subtle nuts in it = great texture and taste with the fish.
the fish came with the tail - i think the head was gone... I liked this as it felt like I was getting the whole deal rather than some dude's idea of a filet.
cool decor (middle eastern tent-like thingy) - bar seemed cool as well... back patio, though i didnt use it - was pretty; interesting shaped chairs. in the back.

Party of Four with 5 star review
Each one of us at the table could not get over how amazing the food was not only in the presentation, but every dish tasted so delicious. We loved the authenticity of the hommus, Lamb chops, Chicken Shawarma, mixed grill (I can go on,,)...Oh and you must try their Arabesque...they use a special lemonde to mix with the Vodka, it had a mint flavor to it, very good. We all walked away feeling so good about the meal we just shared. I highly recommend Neyla.

A Georgetown gem!
Whenever I have the chance to visit Georgetown, I make sure to dine at Neyla, and I am constantly recommending it to friends and colleagues. The staff is great, the atmosphere is unique and transports you to the other side of the world, and the food is fantastic. I've never had a bad bite at Neyla, and enjoy dining there whether I'm by myself or with a group of 10 people. Two thumbs up for Neyla!

Great New Brunch
Neyla's newly introduced brunch is a great addition to a great restaurant with very attentive staff.
5/11/2013 4:00:00 PM
We decided to go to Neyla's to celebrate my husband's graduation and it was an excellent choice. Food was amazing and service was as good! Would go there everytime I go to DC!
5/16/2013 4:00:00 PM
Awesome service and food - the best we have had in the US - I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant and the staff - you have to go any try it out for yourself
5/31/2013 4:00:00 PM
Excellent with one blemish
Overall a very enjoyable evening - the food was excellent, and ambience very pleasing. The dancer was superb and very attentive to all the tables. Our waiter was attentive and professional.
The one problem we had was with a table clearer who carelessly knocked over a glass of wine onto my arm and lap. No serious damage, but we do have the time and expense of carefully removing stains from a shirt and having a jacket cleaned.

Our top Lebanese Restaurant
Neyla is located a block off the noise of Wisconsin Avenue so the outdoor patio provided a quiet respite from Georgetown. Service was very attentive and the waiter very knowledgeable about the menu and wine list, which included some hard to find but excellent Lebanese wines. The food was excellent (branzino and Chicken kabobs), We have tried most of the Lebanese restaurants in the area and Neyla is right up on top. Highly recommended.
6/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
Had a wonderful time -- attentive, careful service (without being fussy or distracting), elegant atmosphere ... and the food was truly amazing. Perfectly represented the delicately balanced full flavors that represent the best of Lebanese cuisine (or even of Mediterranean food more broadly) -- delicious and intricate, rarely fully realized. Wonderful menu, great wine list. We had a lot of fun, and a lot of great food.

Wonderful Restaurant !
Our party had a wonderful experience of Food and Service at Neyla. We tried many different dishes that you may share amoung your party. The food and Service was wonderful and I would recommend small or large parties to vist this establishment !

Went for brunch with a group of friends after seeing a Gilt City voucher. The food and drinks were really great. However, there were not very many people there, which ruined the vibe a bit and considering how few people were there, the service was a bit slow. That being said, I would definitely go back and have already recommended it to friends.

Best Near Eastern/Lebanese around
Phenomenal food and service. Bread is divine and fresh...they cook everything over open coals. Lamb chops are out of this world...tender and juicy! I love Lebanese Tavanara, but Nayla's blows them away. Outstanding service and ambiance too!
7/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
painfully noisy - otherwise awesome
This restaurant is painfully noisy. We all had splitting headaches by the end of the evening. We were a group and we could not hear beyond the person sitting next to us.
But the drinks, the food, the service, was excellent and the decor is beautiful. It is also exceedingly expensive.
7/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
Had a wonderful dinner there, perfect for sharing with a couple friends. The ambience is great though it can get a little noisy, and the food is delicious.
7/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
The service, atmosphere, service and the food are just great. Every time we go there we have just a great experience. Highly recommended.

This is the 3rd time I've
This is the 3rd time I've eaten at Neyla and the first time for business. We had a customer staying in Georgetown and it's a place my boss has wanted to try on previous trips to DC. I have friends tell me that it gets pretty loud most nights, so I booked a little earlier @6:30. We opted to sit outside in the patio at the entrance. Part way into enjoying our mezzas, it started to sprinkle. The waiter and other staff members were eager to offer to move us to another table outside or inside. We went back near the grill. This proved to be a better choice than I realized since we could watch the cook grill our kebabs + his technique. The lamb chops were fabulous and so were the kafta/kubideh and chicken. Everybody enjoyed the meal!

Delish Med options
Really loved the variety of Med food that I can't get in my home town. Love the yogurt with lemon olive oil and multi-grain crackers they bring as snack. This was my second trip and I will definitely go again.

One of my favorite restaurants
Delicious Lebanese food. Great place to order a handful of mezzes, a bottle of wine, and catch up with friends.

Great place for a special occasion
We dined at Neyla on a Saturday night to celebrate our 2nd anniversary. This is the 3rd or 4th time we have been to the restuarant and every time it is spectacular. The food is delicious, authentic, and well delivered. Service and ambience are excellent as well. There is not much more we can say other than it's a consistently good restuarant all the way around.

We went for restaurant week
We went for restaurant week and were not disappointed with a single course! If calories didn't count, I could eat the balooza for every meal every day. Our server was outstandingly friendly and even slipped us a free second bottle of wine! The food came out promptly and we didn't feel rushed as we lingered for quite a while after our meal. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Went for restaurant week and really enjoyed it. Great food and great service. Nice outdoor patio.

Georgetown - Neyla
Tasty middle eastern standards. Tapas like menu. Reasonable prices.
8/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
I often bring friends and colleagues visiting DC to Neyla and everyone always loves it. The food/service is great, The restaurant has a friendly and open atmosphere. The belly dancing adds to the overall flavor and the owner is very active in making certain that everyone is enjoying their experience at Neyla. And that's it-- what makes Neyla special is that it is a whole experience, not just a dinner!! But for dinner.. I love the Spanakopita with crab, the Chicken Shish Taouk, the chef's plate (served complimentary) with olives, bread, and yogurt, the Mouhammara. The mint drink, (Arabesque is the name I think) is incredible. The baklava is nice. A must go!
8/23/2013 5:00:00 PM
Great Food, Good Value
Neyla is a Mediterranean restaurant specializing in fine authentic foods of the Middle East. The menu has a great variety. The staff is friendly and helpful. The food is outstanding! I have been there several times, and each time I return to Georgetown, Neyla is a required visit.
8/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
After living in Georgetown for some time we finally went to Neyla during Restaurant Week. What a wonderful gem of a restaurant- great outdoor seating, attentive and helpful wait staff, and wonderfully prepared food. Each plate that came to the table was very appetizing... The flatbread and olives served at each table was a very nice touch. Everything about the experience was enjoyable and memorable.
8/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
Neyla is Great
Usually very good service and food. However, they get complacent at times. This week, the bread was hard and stale, the red wine was quite warm, and it was difficult to get my water glass refilled. Have been there 7-8 times, will go back, but will send back warm wine and stale bread.
8/31/2013 12:00:00 AM
I went there for a small intimate birthday dinner for a friend of mine. Everything was great - food, ambiance and the service. We were all very happy!

Excellent Lebanese Food!
A gem of a restaurant located in Georgetown. As vegans, the waitstaff and chef were very accommodating to our needs and the was outstanding. Highly recommend.
9/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
Lovely all around
The food was so good. We got the tasting platter so we got to try things we normally wouldn't order and I'm glad we did. Our waitress was lovely- she had a great smile and was very nice (something rare in DC).

For brunch, once it gets busy
For brunch, once it gets busy food can take awhile to get to your table - but the food is worth the wait if you'd rather sleep in :) They make pita bread fresh on the premises and they have the freshest ingredients in their tabbouleh salad - easily the best tabbouleh in the area - better than mi jana and worlds better than lebanese taverna. The only place that can compare is Bacchus of Lebanon in Bethesda. Overall, their are lots of fruits, veggies, salads, lean proteins and breads on the menu keep the meal healthy and light.

Best Lebanese Restaurant in DC
I can't claim to have eaten at every Lebanese (or other Levant country) restaurant in the DC metro area, but I've eaten at more than a few. Neyla is unquestionably the best. It is not quite Beirut's Burj al-Hamam, to be sure, but it would hold its own even back in the old country. All the mezze was exquisite. The Kibbe Nayye is very good. And when they bring you onions with the Kibbe Nayye without you even asking for it, you know it's authentic.
9/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great food, great service
Great food, great service - who could ask for more!
10/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
Wonderful experience...the lamb chops were amazing!
10/4/2013 5:00:00 PM
Be careful where you sit
I did really love my experience at Neyla except for the noise factor. The restaurant is huge thus they have a very large sound system. We didn't realize we were sitting below a speaker until the restaurant starting blasting the music. They did turn it out down slightly when we asked, but it was still unmanageable. Do visit Neyla , but if you do - look up first!
10/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
Nice evening out
As always we had a nice evening with friends. The food is always great and staff are responsive.

Why have we stayed away, won't be long til we return, the beef was great, see you soon !

We took a chance on this unknown Mediterranean restaurant and we loved it! Drank the recommended Lebanese wine, which was excellent. We admired the decor; somewhat exotic, romantic and mysterious, yet, trendy and lively. We were given crispy bread, Lebanese yogurt and olives. Our excellent waiter recommended the sampler, which was wonderful, with hummus, baba, grape leaves, mini chicken shwarmas, and more. There were 2 of each to share, along with wood oven pita, the best I have ever had. We only needed 1 dinner and shared the lamb chops, followed by baklava and a molten chocolate cake and coffee. This outstanding meal was followed by an entertaining belly dancer! It was a wonderful experience and I highly recommend it.
