best steak ever
Best steak, wonderful hot tamales and good bread. Service was great and very friendly. Not inexpensive so not a weekly type of place, more of a special occasion restrauant.

Government Street benefits from this good, solid restaurant, a steakhouse that also features tamales. The steaks are cooked carefully to order with no gimmicks; the sides tend more toward fried sides and potatoes than veggies (salad is simple iceberg lettuce). Don't sit near the front ... the door has a buzzer that constantly sounds as customers come and go, and the owners use the first table near the entrance to do paperwork and visit with friends. Staff is excellent and friendly.

Evening Birthday Celebration
Never disappointed at Doe's in Baton Rouge. The dining room is a model of understated elegance, and the owners are always around, so it feels like you're eating at their house rather than their restaurant. Unique in that steak is ordered by the pound, and can be as large as you want, and they split entrees. I've tried the filet, T-bone, and porterhouse - all are excellent. We were there on a Saturday night during a road LSU football game. The bar was packed and high-energy without being too loud, and I think they have free tamales in the bar during the game. Service was smart and friendly, wines were affordable, and a great selection of local beers. Order the mashed sweet potatoes for a family side; you will NOT be disappointed.

The atmosphere at Doe's is very relaxed, which I enjoyed. The waitress that took care of us, Jay, was fantastic. She was very attentive, but not bothersome. It was out first time eating there so she helped us with the menu. Do not leave Doe's without trying the tamales! The drinks were delicious (Manhattan and Old Fashion). Overall a great experience!

Doe's Eat Place Baton Rouge
Doe's Eat Place Baton Rouge is always tops on my list, the staff is always friendly, helpful and attentive. The menu choices are limited but with good reason, everything offered is fantastic. I've not found a dinning experience that is more satisfying.
