A True Dining Experience
The Stockton Inn is one of those places that's been around forever, but that is surprisingly new with every dinner we have there. The food is beautifully prepared and presented, the wait staff are pleasant and attentive, the atmosphere is lovely. We're never rushed through our dinner and though full, always enjoy the decadent desserts. This place is a true gem!

Stockton Inn is for us like home away from home. Under new management it is back where it should be as far as food ,ambiance and service. Good job!

Very impressed with the food. Previous few years were hit and miss (outside grilling on Thursday's open mike night was the best).
New management has a solid tavern menu as well as higher end creations. My lunch was a great salmon bisque and the traditional sheppards pie (lamb, of course).
Asking several staff members who served me about what they think of the changes, I was told that he or she was only here a month. It was fairly crowded on this Saturday and I did hear some folks complaining about how they were waiting an hour for salad or wrong plates to a table. I feel that they will get it together in time. All I can say was that my choices were really good and my waiting time was fine.

Good overall spot
The stockton inn has multiple dining experiences available (all with the same excellent, standard Franco American cuisine) - (1) a beautiful outdoor patio with a natural waterfall (2) a modernist part of the 1800s inn that is a bit loud but looks more like a modern restaurant - this has views of the patio and waterfall (3) the old inn itself, which has three parts: (i) an old, large dining room with multiple sections divided by fireplaces, the walls painted with original murals from when the hotel was built (I think 1790 or even earlier), all wood, etc (ii) an outside patio that borders right on main street of stockton - can be a bit loud with traffic (iii) a rustic bar for more casual dining, again same menu, veritably charming.

Couldn't be more pleased with our dining experience at the Stockton Inn. We ate in the historic "Mural Room" whose walls are covered with revolutionary era murals of riders on horses chasing the fox. Old wide plank pine floor boards with a great old stone fireplace set the tone for impeccably set tables with white table cloth and red linen napkins. The food was exceptionally good from the appetizer thru the main course and the service was top notch. Their wine list was also exceptional with a wide range of wines both red and white. Romantic ambiance with a capital R regardless of which dining room you choose. Would recommend it to everyone looking for that exceptional and unique dining experience.

We had a lovely dinner recently at the Stockton Inn that we had planned as an occasion to dine with our neighbors. Each of them had some special requests, which were met without an issue. The chef put together a beautiful plate of seasonal vegetables for our vegetarian friends that she really enjoyed. The four of us in our party thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The pork loin was especially good. The staff was great and it was nice that the chef came out to ask about our meals. We love dining at the Stockton Inn any time of the year. From the outdoor patio with the fountains, to the front porch, to the cozy bar, to the beautiful dining rooms - each setting is beautiful and the food is always great!

Food was delicious!
Thorough enjoyed our dinners especially the delicious pumpkin soup which was on special that day and my guest loved the crab and lobster bisque soup. The filet was cooked to perfection and was tender and loved the risotto served in the little pumpkin! My guest loved the scallops with risotto and bacon brussel sprouts too. Really liked the different menus choices and side choices.
I would recommend The Stockton Inn as the food was delicious!! Also really liked the ambiance of the Mural Room with the fireplace!

A great dining experience
This is such a lovely historic Inn and the food and service are very good. So nice to have wait staff that didn't call us GUYS! The food was excellent and the wine list had something for everyone. The wedding reception outside was set far enough back that we didn't hear the noise in the dining rooms which was great.

We made reservations for a Friday night and had no problem getting in. The menu had changed since our last visit. More affordable than before. Friendly and attentive servers. Food presentation was good and it was very tasty. Someone at another table stated that the food was better than it had been in the past. We will go back!

A well-maintained historic building (from the early 1700s) is just the beginning... since our last visit under the old owners, this place is starting to really get its act together. The space is heavenly, always was. But now the food and service are starting to match the ambience. Very thoughtful,. creative and well prepared food. Specials read with prices! Budget choices in the "Tavern Fare" section of the menu. Service attentive but not cloying. Had a wonderful dining experience. We will be back!

A nice surprise
The restaurant was a lot fancier than I expected by looking at the outside. It was beautiful especially going through the outside event section through the back entrance. There was even a piano player who was brilliant and friendly asking if we had any song suggestions. It was a wonderful experience for both me and my boyfriend.

Delicious and Quaint
If I lived closer, I'd be here all the time. I'm sure the locals love it. The food was superb and the ambience is totally cozy and authentic. We sat by the fireplace; the atmosphere can't be beat. The shepherd's pie was the perfect comfort food and my husband's ahi tuna, he reports, was "sooooo gooooood."

Stockton inn making a resurgence
We've lived in the area for 20 years. The Inn has had its up and recent downs. New management for the past year has helped: it's coming back. The menu is basic traditional American cuisine, but the food is well prepared. The ambiance is priceless and they are using the front dining rooms again - very cozy and with interesting murals and history.
Dining rooms are small and intimate.
