I had a salad that had watermelon
I had a salad that had watermelon in it and it was over the top. I also tried a white wine from Portugal (and I do not care for
white wine all that much as I am a red winer drinker), but this one was great.

Saturday night out
Loft warehouse ambience. Our waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable.
Had the beet salad which was presented nicely and was interesting. My wife's spring salad was fresh but dressing
lackluster. She enjoyed her mini Elvis burgers which was an appetizer that she had as her main course.
I had cullotes with potatoes and although the taste was good the meat was not tender.
We thought the desserts were the highlight, a rice puréed pudding over raisins and a chocolate
sampler. Good coffee,
We would definitely come back and try some other menu items

Family Party of 8
We had a wonderful experience at Jackie's, due in no small part to the delicious food. First off, they were very accommodating for our party of eight (which was a party of eight, then a party of nine, and then a party of eight again). Our table was squirreled away in the back, which helped create a more insulated feeling for us while keeping some of the noise at bay. Secondly, our server was personable, knowledgeable, and funny, working hard to make sure we were well informed and satisfied. One issue came up during the meal, where a steak was at first under-cooked, and then over-cooked. The server apologized profusely and did everything he could to make it right with us (which he did). All-in-all, I would highly recommend and will return.

The food was great and the service was awesome. Unfortunately, I don't remember our server's name but he was attentive without being intrusive and knew the menu really well. Overall it was a great dining experience and I will definitely come back!

We had the watermelon salad, beet salad, Amish chicken, halibut, and cheese plate and everything was delicious. The service is also warm and friendly.

Went here with 3 others during restaurant week before a concert at the Fillmore. Wasn't familiar with the area, so found it on Yelp and took a chance. Was really glad I did! The place is not special from the outside, but the food was incredible. We all enjoyed every part of the meal.
8/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
Looking forward to returning
Great service & atmosphere. Lovely menu. Annoying noise level. If you're seated in one of the few quieter booths (which we were), it's great. Staff make a real effort. We went for Restaurant Week and were pleasantly surprised to find that it wasn't limited to several choices (which would have been fine), but rather the entire menu was offered Overall, very good, and we're looking forward to going back.

Eclectic as the setting
Jackie's was built in a former car repair shop. The large opening of the door adds to the ambient. I hadn't been back in a few years, my palate has grown and I could appreciate the food more. We started with the bone marrow based on the many reviews. My boyfriend thoroughly enjoyed it. I tasted it, interesting, but a bit blander than I expected. We enjoyed our meals, sharing tastes back and forth. I had an amazing piece of fish that is no longer on the menu. My Bf enjoyed a nice red piece of meat. We would definitely go back.
8/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
I had not been to Jackie's since their new chef arrived on the scene, so I was not sure what to expect. Was it going to be more of the same or totally new? Well...the Elvis burgers were there but WOW everything else was taken up not one but at least 10 top notches! The service was excellent-we did arrive at 5:30 pm, and the staff kept our water glasses filled and checked on us frequently BUT NOT cloyingly. I am seriously impressed and feel like this neighborhood restaurant feels more like a precious gem...Thank you, Jackie's! You are my favorite place now!

New chef - great food
Third visit to Jackie's and the food has gotten better. Party of four tried four different meals and all were happy with results. Pork plate got special notice. Bone marrow appetizer was perfect!

My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful night out starting with dinner at Jackie's. I was a little bit nervous being we don't go out often and never in silver spring. We loved it!! Would go back and bring friends..great job guys...
8/31/2013 12:00:00 AM
The homemade donuts are amazing, and mimosas alone are worth the trip. Great place for brunch that is hip and unpretentious. Dinner is always good as well but gets way more crowded. Reservations are recommended.

Monday night fried chicken
Great deal on Mondays for families - or anyone! Fried chicken with all the fixings. $12 a person, and it includes dessert. My kids loved it as did we.

Three Foodies First Visit
Jackie's was highly recommended by good friends and did not disappoint. The food was excellent (Fried Chicken Family Style), the service wonderful and the ambiance charming. We enjoyed the abundant leftovers the next day. and would certainly return for another dining experience to try some of Jackie's other down home dishes. Everyone in the restaurant was friendly. We were welcomed and made to feel like special guests. Do not wait to experience this very enjoyable experience.

Fried Chicken Monday
Chicken and sides were fantastic. Other than a fish substitution all they serve on Monday is a standard 3 piece Fried Chicken dinner with sides. But it was worth a Monday visit. Great price and chicken that couldn't be beat. Will definitely go back.

One of the best in Silver Spring
Jackie's has become our favorite Silver Spring restaurant. The food is always very good - interesting menu and nice presentation. Our server was very nice and attentive without being obtrusive. The casual setting is great, but of course it wouldn't work if you were looking for something fancier.

Tasty, tasty, tasty (Especially the tuna sashimi appitizer) - wonderful presentation, and decent cocktails. We'll come back!

Though some of the items on the menu might be unfamiliar, the staff is extremely knowledgeable, will walk you through item-by-item, and EVERYTHING is delicious. Brunch and family night are at the top of our to-do list. Great for date night and right around the corner.

Sat dinner after an AFI Movie !
Jackie R is doing well and has focused with her new Chef on menu items that I seem to recall at Biba in Boston in its heyday; this is a good sign for Washington and Silver Spring~my wife and I always enjoy the main dishes at Jackie's. We especially appreciated our thoughtful and mindful wait staff-Indigo; she new the menu and the preparation entailed in creating the dishes that significantly added to our enjoyment of this well managed restaurant.
9/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
This is not the first time at Jackie's and like every other time it was a delicious experience on every level. Enough new items on the menu mean a return very soon. Our waiter, Robin, was enthusiastic and obviously enjoys making people comfortable. His descriptions of dishes were not from rote but with the feeling of someone who has tasted them with great relish. All of the employees have genuine smiles and helpful demeanors. They seem to enjoy being there and want the same for you. (I am in no way connected with Jackie's or any of her employees. I just appreciate an establishment that cares.

Silver Spring's neigbourhood gem
Inventive, creative, tasty nouveau-American cuisine, combined with an eclectic, artsy (former automobile garage) venue make this arguably THE top culinary destination in downtown Silver Spring. Definitely needs a reservation, or pull up a seat at the bar next door (also worth it for the mixed drinks). Come also for the brunch beignets.

Have dined at Jackie's periodically since it opened, & it's always been a bit funky & quirky. But this iteration - with a new young chef - raises the bar. Our meals were contemporary and innovative in their ingredients and accompaniments, creatively prepared and lusciously presented by engaged, enthusiastic and knowledgable wait staff who made the dining more enjoyable. Jackie's hits it out of the park with this newest change, and I'm all in -- Jackie this one's a keeper!

Great food, tiny portions
the size of items seems odd to me appetizers seemed larger and more filling than the main courses. Everything I had was cooked very well and was tasty.
10/8/2013 12:00:00 AM
The wait person was fantastic.
The wait person was fantastic. She knew the menu as if she had prepared it herself....great confidence. The sommelier was excellent and experienced as well. Great food and service!!! We'll be back!

First visit, brought a friend
First visit, brought a friend from Atlanta. Terrific all around. Nino is an exceptional waiter -- knowledgeable, friendly, not too obsequious, candid. We had four starters, all very good. He loved his 'tinis, my SB was perfectly chilled. What's not to like.
The friend may be back in Georgia, but I shall return.
10/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
From the outside it looks like nothing, but inside it has a modern industrial vibe, the wait staff was friendly, and everything we ordered was fantastic. The menu rotates, it was different from the time I made the reservation to the time we ate there. We ordered several apps to share, and it was like having all your favorite things on one plate..I mean sashimi, avocado mousse, burrata, all on one plate? Somehow it worked really well. Calamari was great, also a seasonal salad, homemade pappardelle with beef cheeks. Truffled cheese fries. Super fresh oysters. Oddly enough the only thing I didn't like was the sangria, but that could be forgiven, plenty of other choices to drink. Will be coming back on a future visit.

Worth the trip!
We went for brunch and had a phenomenal experience. Get the donuts! Great service, cool decor , and the brunch was well-prepared and perfectly seasoned. We will make the drive from DC to Silver Springs!

Monday's Fried Chicken Night
As we live in the neighborhood and being convenient, we have dined at Jackie's many times (always completely satisfied) but never on a Monday. 'Fried Chicken Night' Monday was awesome. Family style- with 3 pieces of very succulent chicken (with a hint of spice in the coating), creamy potato salad, sautéed kale, a biscuit and a dessert of 'made on order' donut per order and at a cost of $12/order it is a HUGE BARGAIN! For 'pescaterians', two pieces of fried talapia was substituted for the chicken. It too was moist and very good. All the food was most excellent. We will return Mondays and regular menus days also. You should too!
10/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
We met out of town friends here a couple of years ago. This year, when visiting, they remembered and wanted to dine at Jackie's again. We were pleased, as we had wanted to as well.
10/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
Jackie's is a top-flight neighborhood place in a nice setting. The only thing I can recommend is a more diverse menu -- the selections were fairly limited although what we ordered was very good.
10/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
I've been to Jackie's about 5 times now and the food is always wonderful and the service is consistently excellent! The waiters are knowledgable and make great recommendations - they'r also entertaining and willing to joke-around with the guests. The food is not typical by any means, in a very good way! Ask for a description of the dish before ordering because my order has come out totally different that what I expected - but always very delicious. I don't love living in SIlver Spring, but I love being within walking distance to Jackie's!
10/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
unique dishes; our waiter
unique dishes; our waiter Ryan and other staff were solicitous; customer service appears to be important; small portions but very tasty and filling; chef is creative and food is well prepared.
10/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
I hadn't been here in years...and I will now be a regular. Graciously greeted and an amazing server (Matthew) made the delicious food even better. Go with a group of friends and order everything off of the menu. Delicious!!

I'll be back!
This was my first time at Jackie's, and I see what all the buzz is about. The menu was excellent - a lot of variety and several options for a vegetarian. The food was excellent and nicely presented. Our server was knowlegable and friendly. I'll definitely go back!
11/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
We had brunch, drinks, and a chance to catch up with one another. We stayed for hours and felt very comfortable!!!! I had been there before but the ladies I brought hadn't and all of them said that we'd be coming back.
Enjoyed! Kristen Henry

Wonderful anniversary celebration
Totally enjoyed our tastes from the new menu! Chef Adam Harvey has created some wonderful new dishes.
11/5/2013 4:00:00 PM
A colleague and I had a marvelous dinner at Jackie's. We did the tasting menu - that we found very reasonably priced. It was a perfect way to sample a broad range of the menu items without getting totally stuffed. We did wine by the glass and started with Proseco for the first half and transitioned to Malbec for the second part of the meal. We could not have been happier with the food quality, creativity of preparation and the value. If we lived in Silver Spring we would be back soon.

Welcome restaurant to Silver Spring
Excellent restaurant for sampling unique dishes by an up and coming chef. While not a luxurious dining area, I personally enjoy the low key atmoshpere and the ability to see the kitchen at work.

Farm to Table Creativity
From the outside, this garage converted to restaurant does not look like much. Inside looks more garage than restaurant. But once you taste your first course, you'll realize that these are serious, creative chefs serving fresh, flavorful food. The blend of spices and ingredients made delcious dishes. My husband ordered the tasting menu because he couldn't decide what to eat. This five course dinner was a great way to sample many delightful tastes. I very much enjoyed the roasted cauliflower dish and all the "tastes" from my husband's plate. I can highly recommend Jacki's.
There is a parking lot around the corner from the front entrance.

Delicious dishes in modest portions
Under its new chef, Jackie's offers a scrumptious variety of meat, poultry, fish, and vegetarian dishes in small portions on large white plates. Not exactly a tapas restaurant, portions are too small to constitute a full meal, but large enough for a small group (we were four) to share each of a goodly number of dishes. All the ones we tried were properly cooked, interestingly spiced, and nicely presented. Duck prepared with pastrami spices was outstanding, as was a beef culotte. Service was helpful and friendly. Not cheap, but highly recommended.
11/11/2013 4:00:00 PM
The food and service are amazing! We have probably been there 4 times in the month since discovering Jackie's.
11/14/2013 4:00:00 PM
Pricey, small portions, interesting
Pricey, small portions, interesting menu, great food, especially the beef, too noisy, access to county parking, industrial neighborhood, hot spot for the under 40 crowd.

New menu a little overly trendy
My good friend and I meet for dinner at Jackie's every couple of months. On our last visit, just a couple of days ago, we discovered that the menu had been revamped. We were a little dismayed -- broken into the now trendy "grains" and "fish" style categories, it's a little more difficult to assemble a coherent meal. (Plus there were a lot of words we hadn't seen before on the menu and we are constant diners-out). But the food was delicious (a very imaginative pumpkin themed salad was wonderful) and as always, Jackie's is a fun, friendly place. But I regret the loss of their more unpretentious menu -- I rather like having someone serve me a dinner, not ask me to create one, Leggo style, out of individual pieces.

Birthday girl was pleased
Enjoyed the birthday dinner I planned for a friend. An unexpected surprise was taking advantage of happy hour while I waited for the party to arrive. Nice selection of wine, beer and cocktails and appetizers. Really enjoyed the fontina cheese fries.
Dinner and wine selections offered pleased the varied tastes of our group. Especially liked the roasted cauliflower and endive appetizers. The halibut and salmon entrees were nothing special, however. We ordered the espresso chocolate cake for dessert which was very good. The menu is all small plates and even though we were three adults with good appetites, the five plates we ordered were sufficient, especially with dessert.
11/19/2013 4:00:00 PM
Everything about the restaurant was pleasant. Food was good, great place to meet up with friends. The service was efficiient. I wish the small plates were a little bit bigger. But I guess they are what they are. I am looking forward to going to the Side Car.

Love this place!
The dichotomy between Jackie's bar and Jackie's restaurant is fantastic. On the bar side, the entire area is in black making for a comfortable cool atmosphere where you can enjoy a variety of top mixed drinks, a nice beer list, and really great wait staff. After drinks, move over to the funky 60s style restaurant side and have a gourmet meal that is no nonsense but fabulous. Monday is fried chicken night which is a blast and to die for.
11/24/2013 4:00:00 PM
It's been a while since I ate at Jackies and I did not know that they change to tapas size plates. The food was good, but I would prefer regular size entrees.

New Chef - new menu
We really liked the new menu especially the early-bird prix-fixe - great value

Inventive menu, great food!
We had an awesome dinner at Jackies- everyone loved the foods we tried and we liked the small plate approach that allowed us to share and try many things on the menu. It was so good- we will be back, thanks!
