Tried and true
Most recent visit was one of many made over the years and Public Landing does not disappoint. Excellent service and outstanding food. Would recommend for a great dining experience.

Best in the area
Nice patio, great old building and good food make this worth a visit if you're in the area and far nicer than the options in Jolliet.

Overall great time.
The building is beautiful. Balanced menu with something for all tastes. Ahi tuna was terrific. My server Dan was knowledgable and entertaining. Will be back. Btw they allow dogs on their patio.

Great for man AND beast :-)
It was our dog's 12th birthday, and we had seen an advertisement for Public Landing in our local paper stating that it was a very pet-friendly place, and it was! They have a beautiful patio area, and their food is great for everyone.

Management on top of things
Due to a delay in earlier dinner guests leaving their table, there was a delay of over an hour in getting seated. Management came over and bought a round of drinks and said they were sorry for the delay. The right thing to do, which you do not see much today.
Service at the bar and the table was very good. I would go back. Great for outdoor dining.

Last Minute Enjoyment
It had been a few years since we were at Public Landing but remembered we enjoyed it. It was last minute and thought we would call our son/wife if they were available. They has never been there. First time I used open table and was able to get reservations at the time we requested. It was just a lovely evening. Everyone's food was delicious. I had the special which was pretzel coated Walleye and it was delicious. I did have the Sangria which was that great so that would be the only disappointment.

Usually very good, rarely great.
I love the history of this place, which also houses a museum. This longstanding restaurant offers standard fine dining fare, nothing imaginative but solid cuisine at reasonable cost. They offer drink specials. Service is good. I came here because I was celebrating with my elderly parents with simple tastes and Public Landing suffices.
I had the prime rib which was cooked to my request and was not too fatty as it sometimes can be. The baked potato was sizable. My father hd pot roast which looked good. My wife selected from their (new?) small serving summer menu which is great for smaller appetites.
After a couple of mediocre meals in the past, I had stopped frequenting PL. This experience was much better, so I think I'll start returning.

It's been a long time since we visited-but we won't wait so long the next time. One of those a bit of out-of-the -way places that we need to remember!!

We ate on the patio! We brought our 5 lb dog because their patio is dog friendly and it was fantastic! Everything about it was wonderful! The other customers, the other dogs, the kids and servers were all great! plus, my husband had a Steak and twice baked
potato that was cooked to perfection! The location adds to the unique setting which makes the dining experience so enjoyable!
We have not been there for years and now we are planning to go back again soon with a group of friends! You will not be disappointed!

It was a good celebration experience. We were surprised to be the first in the regular dining area on a Sunday morning. We had wonderful service and the dinner menu was great. Meanwhile a special party was arriving to celebrate birthdays in another space. By the time we left, the space we were in was a little more than half full. Nevertheless, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and conversation!

This fine restaurant is usually
This fine restaurant is usually loud and lively, but I rated it on the low end for this occasion, which was an early weekday supper before the crowds arrived.
My wife had the crispy half duck, which I've had many times before; she loved it as much as I do. I had a chicken dish (made with olive oil, lemon, and oregano, but I don't remember the exact name) that was also excellent.

While I do not own a dog,
While I do not own a dog, they have a unique "Pet Friendly" policy, where pets (on a leash) are welcome for service on a very pleasant terrace, under a majestic Oak tree, and are served from a pet menu, just like the humans! This makes the terrace service very social, where many of the customers chat between tables; of course becasue of the best ice-breaker ever: their pets!

Great Hidden Gem
This is our 4th time at The Public Landing. Outstanding food, drinks and service! The patio is dog friendly with a special menu for the dogs yet the same great food and drinks are available for the owners that they would get if they dined in.

We've lived in the area 30+ years and never knew of this restaurant and were pleasantly surprised by our first dining experience there. Neat, historic building adds unique ambiance to the meal. Enjoyable food and nice service - we definitely have this on our list of restaurants to return to in the future.

Sweetest Day at Public Landing
My husband and I had tickets to a concert and wanted to make a full "Date-night" of it. We were so happy that we chose Public Landing in Lockport. It's such a cozy, romantic spot with a beautiful view. We had a late afternoon (3:30pm) reservation and it was perfect. The Sweetest Day crowd had not arrived yet. So the restaurant was pretty quiet. Our server, Kristen, was very friendly and attentive. Despite the fact that we had early reservations, they graciously allowed us to choose selections from the "Sweetest Day Special Menu" - WOW! Everything was delicious! I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. Keep in mind that it's not inexpensive, but definitely worth every penny! We will definitely be back!

A Special Treat
Really good food - nice enough for a special occasion but not so classy that you have to be dressed to the nines! Often see kids there, especially at lunch.

This is one of our favorites and it's like a hidden secret to all of our loved ones. We bring friends and family here anytime we can! The food is always fantastic, the place it beautiful and I always enjoy myself!

Every time I have been there
Every time I have been there it is always chilly. This day is was great until doors opened somewhere and cold air was rushing around our legs. We were about to be finished, so we never said anything

Public Landing...Hidden Gem
Simply put, our new favorite restaurant...hands down! Beautiful building with so much history and ambiance, we didn't want to leave!
We were there with my parents, who are in their 70s and our kids, 16, 14 and 11. They all loved it. Our waitress had the perfect touch...helpful, attentive but not over-bearing or pushy.
The food was fantastic! I had a hard time choosing but everyone was happy with their selection.
We are already planning our next visit!

Great place to meet Friends
Met some friends we meet once a year for an excellent lunch and conversation. The "Wait Staff" does not rush you but is available for all of your needs. Do not pass up if you are in the area.

This was not our first visit.
This was not our first visit. We look forward to the knowledgeable wait staff, the tables with real table cloths and flowers and of course to our meal. We try to order something a little different and usually order salads. IT is a wonderful restaurant.

Nice time spent with my sister over an early dinner. Food was excellent; she had steak, I had pork chops. The dessert was phenomenal as always. Great martinis.

What a great place!!
We have been to Public Landing before and picked it to celebrate my birthday. Could not have made a beeter selection. The food was great and dining outdoors was truly enjoyable. Being animal lovers, sharing the evening with our canine friends made it even more special. The service was outstanding and the wait staff was extremely attentive. Dan, the owner, made several "rounds" among the diners to assure that all expectations were met.
We will be back soon.

We had another great dinner at Public Landing. Some new items on the menu added to an already solid variety of fare. Service was good and the atmosphere is always pleasant. Our neighborhood "go-to" place for a predictably excellent meal and service.

Dining on the Edge of HIstory
The Public Landing Restaurant is located in the Gaylord building which is on Lockport's connection to the Illinois and Michigan Canal. The historic building has been converted to many uses, including this restaurant with a great outdoor seating area, which many people were enjoying. We ate inside and found the ambiance just great. the menu was full of delicious choices and we had a variety of the cuisine, salmon, salad, and beef and corned beef sandwich. My daughter posed with the Lincoln bronze statue after lunch.
