Name doesn't capture Latin roots
We celebrated our 23rd wedding anniversary & made last minute dinner reservations. Don't think we will be able to pull that off in the future as I see this place as becoming a neighborhood favorite ! From the street driving by, it looked kind of fast foodish but that is not the case. The place has great atmosphere and decor. It has a wonderful menu (cheese plate) and a great wine/drinks menu. We had a really nice dinner. Dessert was limited to a rice pudding concoction that was yummy but wouldn't usually be my choice. The paella was spicier and not the typically saffron tasting rice. Presentation was perfect. I drank too many Argentinian Nights which I paid for the next day so they were really tasty. Overall it was a fabulous experience.

Digging Bourbon and Beef
Definitely a nicely done interior with a communal table up front, ample bar seating, and maybe 8 tables aligned for couples that I am sure can be combined for larger parties, though it was all couples the other night.
The drinks were tasty and the wine list seemed cool for a latin restaurant. My bourbon negroni arrived on the very small side, but my guess is that if I had mentioned it the waitress would have had it topped off as her service was great and attentive.
The food we ordered was absolutely delicious: chili relleno, carne asada and fries small plate, and the duck confit.
Prices actually aren't that high as other reviewers mentioned. $100 was total for more than enough food and 3 drinks total.
Digging this great RR addition!

wonderful and helpful service.
wonderful and helpful service. Food better than average, to loud for my liking.

Open for two weeks
The menu looked interesting.... Only open for about two weeks. The service was a bit slow as wait staff was short. The waitress recommended a great bottle of red wine for $30. Tried 5 dishes, 4 wonderful (don't mish the chili relleno with mole sauce) and 1 way too salty (the shimp cakes). Dish sizes very and some are resonably sized, others small for the price (the shrimp cakes). Overall, a good experience and we will be returning.

We decided to try Bourbon and Beef for our anniversary dinner after discovering it on Yelp. My husband and I are beef lovers and got the Lomo de Res and the Bistec Rostidado- one was like an amazing pot roast and the other one was grilled to perfection - nicely charred on the outside and luscious rare on the inside. The complementing vegetables and gravies were excellent with the meats. The pork belly tacos also had good flavor, we both thought the lobster bisque was a little fishy. Overall - go there and eat what they do best; beef, lots of beef!

After reading about he amazing
After reading about he amazing food...but with consistent concern about the friendliness
of the staff...had to give it a try; Truly inspired and creative approach; AND the staff could not
have been more gracious; The tables are a bit too close...but I suspect that this talented
policeman turned chef will be having a larger presence in more than one location.
Hope to visit again next week!!

Terrific Service, Shared Plates
We had perhaps the best service ever on our visit, a party of five on a Saturday night. Initially unexcited about sitting at the communal table, we quickly realized we were in the catbird's seat. The service and food were outstanding. Great wine list. Wonderful opportunity to share loads of plates, but we could easily have been just as satisfied with a traditional entree-per-person regime had we so chosen. So easy for friends from SF. It is on our list of East Bay top hits!

It just gets better
Have been to this neighborhood spot ( which is worth driving over the Bay Bridge to visit) 3 times
in 3 weeks...food is healthy, ever so tasty..and the waitstaff is now on par with other special
eateries..simply delicious..Go, Don't Miss it...ENJOY!! (And, oh, their cocktails!!!)..
and for those who hate driving over the Bridge...Rockridge BART station is across the street!!

To return again and again
A friend and I I had dinner there last week. We were both quite impressed. I had a phenomenal paella, and the wine selections were quite good as well. The service was also outstanding. My friend and I agreed that this was now our favorite spot for dinner..and in Rockridge, that's saying alot. I was so impressed that I returned this week with a different friend and this time, I had the duck while my friend had the paella along with some different wines. Excellent once again! One of the owners stopped by to chat for a bit, and acknowedged that the name of the place didn't quite mesh with what was being served, but hey, that's what happens when you and your partners come up with a name while in Las Vegas. Next time, I come with my wife!

Great food - great Staff
Terrific food and wonderful overall experience. The staff was amazing and totally made our night. The food and drinks won't disappoint!

Great blend of flavors
Great food, excellent service. Our only issues was the music was so loud, everyone had to shout and so the noise level was way too high.

Great New Restaurant
We went to Bourbon and Beef early last Saturday evening. Our table was waiting for us and we were impressed by the decor of the restaurant. It's small, but inviting. Food? Each item seemed to have very special flavors that popped! Especially loved the small plates! We enjoyed our dinner and the experience very much. Also we began speaking with a nice couple next to us...who were there for the second time that week! Close to Bart so parking is a bit easier, plus easy for those using Bart. ONLY negative was the very high volume of noise (and remember we were their early in the evening). Not sure what they can do about that.....so just come prepared.

Not good for groups--parties
Not good for groups--parties over 4 are limited to the community table--which limited our ambiemce rating, as we were a group of six. The limited seating also really limits the times when groups over four may make a reservation. Most of the seating seems limited to twosomes.

fun with character
food combinations were unusual, but very good. They are weak on salads. Nice wine list.

Great food in European bistro
The salmon salad was unexpectedly refreshing in taste and its presentation. Steak sandwich w/o aioli or mayo was still moist and full of flavor. The only problem with the sandwich was it came with fries. Maybe it is possible to sub with little greens or extra coleslaw. The service was good and attentive. The dessert was deadly!!! Could have skipped the lunch and the calories from the dessert alone would have still exceeded the daily maximum calories. Will return definitely and try their chicken salad and tacos.

Great food, weird name
We had a wonderful brunch in a mostly empty Bourbon & Beef. Everyone was delighted with their orders, but the stuffed french toast stood out as maybe the best any of us had ever tasted. The wild boar sausage was also really delicious. It took a little bit of time for our server to get to us but once she did service was steady and well timed. We had a couple small kids with us and while it's not a particularly kid-friendly place the staff welcomed them good-naturedly.

The smelt dish was the best.
The smelt dish was the best. A little weak on the beef dishes for a restaurant that claims a beef specialty.

Great brunch menu
Really enjoyed the brunch menu, there was something for everyone's flavor and the bottomless Mimosa, perfect! Outstanding Carne Asada and eggs...wow! Great start to our Sunday! We will be visiting again!
10/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
Went for brunch and had the bottomless mimosas as well. Portion sizes were perfect and delicious. I'm not a big fan of champagne, but whatever mix they had going on hit the spot! Service was stellar, dare I say too good? Our glasses were rarely empty and we left with quite the afternoon buzz.
There were four of us and we each ordered a different entree. Out of the salmon florentine, shrimp corncakes, pork belly benedict and french toast the Shrimp corncakes were my favorite, but they were all really good. I especially apprecitiated that the french toast was not overly sweet.
Definitely a cozy atomsphere and I imagine it would be a great date spot. Have to come back for dinner!

Fantastic food, great drinks. Our experience lasted so long, we stayed over two hours. When they wanted the table, they were kind enough to offer to buy us drinks at the bar

A good, high stylized dining experi
Went to Bourbon and Beef with my parents visiting from out of town, my wife, and our 1 year old son. It was on the loud side for a 5pm reservation, but the staff was very understanding and nice to us having a kiddo in town. The food was very good. Really enjoyed everything but the paella. The paella was missing that great crustiness you get in the rice. The shrimp cakes and the pork belly tacos were terrific.

Great food but plan to wait
Food is great for sharing especially for foodies because there is lots of variety. However, we had an 8:30 reservation and weren't seated until 9:30pm. The hostess explained this to us when we first got there and did buy us drinks, but we were starved by the time we sat down. The servers were friendly and extremely attentive. My favorites were the short ribs, the shrimp cakes and the shishido peppers. Yum. Could use another option or 2 on the dessert menu (there were only 2 options) . The sangria was great. Get the carafe because one glass will not do.

Menu more than the restaurant name
Nice ambiance and great decor. I found it expensive for what we had. Food was tasty, though.

Great New Restaurant in Oakland
We had a great dining experience at Bourbon and Beef for dinner on a Saturday evening. We were seated right away (made reservations) and our waitress was very helpful with the menu and beverage choices. The meal was well paced. We order two small plates (lobster bisque and pork belly) and two entrees (salmon salad and rib eye steak). All the dishes were delicious, well prepared and creatively presented. The steak was done perfectly (medium rare) with just the right seasoning. Service was excellent overall including our water glasses being replenished as needed. Only downside was I thought the wines by the glass were pricey but we would definitely come back again.

Love this place
B&B has the best brunch I have had in a long time. I live in San Francisco and travel all the way over for their brunch. It is amazing. I get the vegetarian dish and my partner get the benedict each time! Its so good we cannot find ourselves straying for something new to try. Their cocktail list is okay but fun. The servers are top notch. They have a flat screen for Sunday football. Its best to make reservations as the place fills up quickly.

I've been here a few times for dinner and just for drinks but this visit was for brunch. What a great time. Great service and good food.
Bottomless mimosas and again excellent service. Staff was extremely attentive.
