We had a great dinner sitting
We had a great dinner sitting up at the bar with a great view into the bustling kitchen. Fantastic food, great service - lots of good wine. Perfect Friday night pasta.

Fun for a group
The menu at Sauce is a little intimidating, we didn't know where to being. But our waitress gave us some suggestions and everything was really delicious. The tables are long communal style tables so it's great for groups. They also have outdoor seating when the weather is nice.

I grew up in NJ with a lot of Italian people and Sauce is as close as you come to true home cooked meals. I love everything on the menu. The night that we dined there was our server's first night working. He was incredibly nice and very accomodating. The hostess was also very sweet and had a smile on her face while we watched her sit other people. We had reservations and waited less than 5 minutes. I had the pasta with mushrooms in a butter & sage sauce. My friend had the kale gnocchi and we shared meatballs. Everything was fabulous!! This was my 4th time dining at Sauce and I can't wait to return!!

Good Italian fare
My friend and I have been to all of the restaurants in this family: Frank, Little Frankie, Supper and now Sauce. All have a nice, rustic ambiance. Sauce had some excellent dishes, but was not consistently outstanding. Of the former, we found the Kale salad extremely fresh and tasty. The grilled salmon (a special) was also very fresh and tasty. On the down side, one of their House Specialties, meatballs in Grandmother's tomato sauce, was overly salty, and the accompanying medallion-shaped pasta was quite dense. We shared a bottle of Montepulciano, which was excellent. The overall experience was pleasant, altho dining al fresco was unfortunately somewhat marred by the street noises.

Sauce how do I count the ways?
Sauce is quite possibly the first NYC restaurant I consider my "own". They remember your face, they suggest plates based on your interest and input and they do it all with smiles and fun. The staff at Sauce love their jobs, and it shows. Even Chef Frank takes to social channels to thank you for visiting his restaurant, how many owners of companies do you know that do that?

Craving the sauce
The food here is great. It's rustic, it's hearty - it's totally unpretentious straight-up home-style Italian. My husband and I were celebrating an anniversary and they sent us complimentary champagne which was so nice. The ambiance is low-lit - but, the noise level is a bit high/energetic. I wouldn't recommend going here for a quiet evening, but if you are looking for a fun vibe in a great setting with amazing food - go here. Get the plank as an appetizer and then dig in to some pasta dishes and ragu.

Went there for our anniversary and was delighted by the food and service.

A long time fan of Frank's restaurants, Sauce keeps me coming back and is my current favorite. This LES gem has a fantastic interior as well as comfortable outdoor dining. I have fallen in Love with the Sergio Leone dish. Grass Fed Steak, Pizza Sauce, and Broccoli Rabe with an egg on top. How could you go wrong?!? Whether with friends, family, or out for a date, the setting and service (and food) have always been spot on. A crowd pleaser for sure. Enjoy!

Awesome food and great atmosphere
The food was delicious, the waiters were knowledgeable and on point. Ambiance was great for a nice dinner with the girls or even a date night. Would definitely go again.

Delicious food and great atmosphere
One of my neighborhood favorites - a perfect combination of updated Italian comfort food and cool, casual Lower East Side atmosphere. I've been here multiple times and will go back again. I highly recommend "The Plank", a classic polenta, bolognese, and parmesan combination.

Great restaurant Delicious food
I love the eclectic decor and vibrancy of the restaurant. The food is well prepared and the menu has many options. The pastas are delicious. They have great salads. The kale is amazing. My daughter is a vegetarian and she is always able to choose from interesting dishes.

Good Dining Experience
My wife and I went to this restaurant for the first time and really enjoyed ourselves and the food was awesome, especially the polenta. The restaurant was very busy, and vibrant, however the downside of this is that it can get pretty noisy (To be fair, the noise level did become much more bearable once the obnoxious couple sitting at the table beside us finally left). A nice treat was once the table next to us turned over, the actual owners of the restaurant sat down next to us. They were really great guys and provided a lot of background about starting the restaurant, their philosophy on food, and even went so far as to share some of the items they had ordered. Great place to take someone who is visiting from out of town.

Excellent chicken parm; excellent
Excellent chicken parm; excellent papardelle with mushrooms, excellent polenta, not bad meatballs, bad garlic bread.
overall, the restaurant is very good for what it is. I would go back.

I dread going out to Italian for dinner in the city since they are a dime a dozen... but, Sauce is a winner and absolute MUST!! The polenta & ragu plank was out of this world as was the homemade burrata. Yum!!!

Perfect Neighborhood Italian Joint
My wife and I eat here nearly one a week on regular rotation. The food is authentic Italian, perfectly prepared. The pasta always al dente.
I ate the special Cacio e Pepe. If you think this is a mundane dish, go try it, it was off the charts

The food was good, home made style. I had the kale nhoque and meatballs. Tasty but a bit too salty. The panacota desert was delicious. I would go back. Popular place in the les. Good energy. Cozy.

The food was real good. Service
The food was real good. Service was good but I did not like that server only takes the order and not serve the food.
I had the feeling that all went in a rush.

Delicious and fun, very loud
The food was fantastic, especially the sausage a la carte and any of the sauces in general. I got one of the specials, the Bolognese ribbon pasta, which I thought was good but I wished there was more tomato in the sauce, just a personal preference. The dessert was delicious, chocolate panna cotta!

We went with a group of 6, had three bottles of wine and shared entrees between us all. Amazing food, great wine list, and the service was helpful. Between the wine, apps and entree was surprised to walk away having only spent $50 per person. Would absolutely recommend to all, and will be going back myself.
The meatballs were fantastic, as were the two "boards," we had both. One was a polenta base with ragu (5 stars), the other was a mash potatoe base with a stuffed pasta (4.5 stars).

Very tasty, well done Italian American. Great comfort food.

felt a little rushed and no one asked if we wanted more wine/drinks, but overall, food is amazing.

Check your bill...twice!
Thanksgiving for 5 and he food was amazing. The cappuccino squash soup and faro stuffing were delicious. Service seemed rushed for a restaurant that had plenty of empty seats. Hostess/waitress was borderline rude to us when explaining the menu and to top it off, she double charged us. When we questioned the bill, she gave some explanation about hitting a button twice(???) no apology. Bottom line, the food is excellent- the service, not so much.
