Great food, good service but
It was too noisy. If you want to carry on a conversation with your friends forget it!

We needed a place like this! I have to admit I wasn't too excited about another small plate restaurant but this place completely changed my mind. Food, service, and music were amazing and made for a great eve out with friends. Even the little ones enjoyed the food

A great new gem in Manhattan!
My husband and I have been here twice since they have opened in the last week. I love their prawn and mango salad, their pork spring rolls and their pork belly!! Soooo good! Also, give their chips a try as an appetizer, its very different snd just makes you want to keep eating it until you figure out the perfect word to describe the taste and texture. It's a new restaurant so they're still smoothing alot a few things, but the staff are very attentive and the manager is constantly walking around to check up on each table.I have yet to order anything from their bar, but I'm sure you can pretty much get anything you want.It does get loud, so either come early or just come in a small group so that you can hear each other.

Were seated 30 min later than our reservation, which considering they have a very firm 15 min late policy is a bit of a double standard.
Food was amazing. Creative and interesting dishes.
Our waitress, though friendly and attentive, didn't know the menu particularly the wine list which was mostly small producers.
Considering this just opened, am sure they'll iron out the kinks...I'd highly recommend.

Amazing! Work on noise control and it will be unbelievable.

Good Food, a tad expensive
Overall I liked Little Sister, the food was tasty and the service was great. I went last weekend for my friends birthday and we all had a great time. My favorite dishes were the spring rolls, the crepe and the shakey shakey beef. My only complaints with the food were that they used the same sauce with almost everything. I felt like the taste of the dishes was very similar due to the dipping sauce being served often with different items. The restaurant was fun and hip but also very loud. It was very hard to hear while dining. Overall I do like it here, but I am more inclined to try the Big sister restaurant Abigaile next time around.

Asian style cooking was great.
Asian style cooking was great. 90's and 00's hip hop playing all night. Menu is new and they are trying interesting things like curry (delicious) on scallops. Lemongrass was outstanding and large enough to share. Small sides, Korean style, were a nice, inexpensive touch.

Delicious Southeast Asian & Pacific Rim inspired dishes which are unique to the South Bay. Highly recommend! We needed a restaurant like this in Manhattan Beach... cuisine that is new & different!

AMAZING - we will be back for more.
Finally a restaurant that is different from all the others. Food is upscale Asian Cuisine with influences from various countries. Everything we had was amazing. My boyfriend and I sat at the bar and was able to watch Tin make various dishes and ask questions regarding the menu. So Nice. We started with the imperial rolls - OMG delish. In addition, we tried the balinese style fried meat balls with banana ketchup. I loved how the banana ketchup which was sweet and spicy complimented the meatballs. As our main course we had the salt & pepper lobster which is New England Lobster butter fried with fried chilies and garlic and the shaky shaky beef. So many things I want to try. Ray our server was excellent & food amazing.

The atmosphere is great, the space beautiful and the food was yummy. I thought the Singapore soft shelled crab banh mi was the best I've ever eaten. Delicious.

Food with a soul
I'm beyond thrilled to see a chef with the guts to try new things in the South Bay. This restaurant is taking flavor profiles to a new height, you find yourself absolutely loving a dish but unable to quite put your finger on the ingredients. There is true talent in the menu choices and preparations, and it leaves you desperate to know, why oh why is this place so delicious?
My only complaint is the noise level, it's already a small little place and then 90's hits pump in on top of the crowd. You do feel the excitement, the energy of a buzzing restaurant but our table of 5 found ourselves yelling at each other all night. But truth be told, we were still yelling on how good the food was.
8/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
Good noshing tapas style food but
Very very loud and way pricey for what you get as you need lots of dishes for a group of 3 or 4. Trendy, small place. They treat reservations like gold but feels contrived (like the nightclub bouncers deciding who is hip enough to let by the velvet rope feeling) and they give you choice of 5 pm or 9 pm. Enjoyed the food but preferred atmosphere at MB post or abigaile with similar menu style (though food here is more creative) and where reservation system seems fair. Just not worth fighting to get a table so instead of a second or third visit we went elsewhere instead. Fishing with dynamite and mb post are just across the street and the strand house around the corner are all great alternatives, unless trendy is what you want.

Green papaya salad was incredible! Imperial rolls were
Very good. Meatballs tasted like falafel.. Not juicy and
Meaty as you would expect. Wine was fantastic! Love this place but
It is VERY loud. Not good for date night unless you don't
Like your date.

Absolutely, hands down delicious dinner! Everything (and we tried everything!) was delish!! Decor is awesome, super ambience and great service!! Great find!! Definitely going back!!

Come check it out
First time dining here. Came on a friend's recommendation. Great menu, excellent service! The food took
A while to come out. But overall great experience. Make reservations because it is a small place.
8/30/2013 12:00:00 AM
I love that they play old school 80s music. Yes it's loud, but it doesn't bother me. Staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating. Small place so limited amount of tables. Fresh delicious food. Be sure to ask waiter how to pair their sides with the best meals. They know how to make the flavor really come out.

We had heard good reviews
We had heard good reviews of this new addition to the neighborhood so decided to book a Saturday reservation when family came to visit from out of town. We could only get 5:30. We decided to take it and planned to enjoy drinks and sample, savor and take our time getting around to the main meal. Perfect plan for this new GEM. Every plate we ordered was unique and delicious. I wanted to order each one again as soon as we had scraped the plate clean. In addition, the service was friendly, attentive and professional. I am confident this address has finally found a tenant that will be long term. Can't wait to go back!

Too many great choices!
We were only a party of 2 & there were too many great choices so we ordered and ate too much food. I would recommend going w/ four people to share more flavors.
The highlights: Duck Sate, Kima Lathla (chili lamb filled flat bread), Salt & Pepper Lobster w/ the fried rice made from the head & Soft Shelled Crab Banh Mi.
Comments on other things tried: The Ma La Pickles were good. The XO Pea Tendrils a little too salty for my taste for a vegetable. Would pass on the Shaky, Shaky Beef. Dessert: loved that we got to try 3 small portions! Loved 2/3 but can't remember which ones.
I can't wait to go back with a bigger party to try more things. I hope I can get a reservation since the place is pretty small ;-)

New Fave in MB
It's hard to get a reservation so we did an early bird dinner at 5. It was so worth it. We had
Noodles with pork
Skaky shaky beef
Salt n pepper lobster
Every dish was outstanding. Can't wait to go back!
9/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
an eclectic assortment of pan asian cuisine, modern hip decor, great service and big flavor

Great Food and Drink
We could only get a 5:15 reservation on a Friday. I grumbled about this at first but now realize this is the way up go. The place gets so jammed and noisy after about 6:00 you can't carry on much conversation. So early is good. We had the shaky shaky beef and the vietnamese lemongrass beef, expecting to order a third plate later. These are good for sharing for 3-4. There were just two of us so we ran out of room, but did manage a small desert trio (fabulous). Service very friendly and efficient. Nihilist DIPA from the "big sister" Abigaile is awesome. Wines were good, but a little small in the volume department. Very nice meal overall.

I'm a little embarrassed to
I'm a little embarrassed to say that I ate a piece of food off the table. It's that good. Cuisine is creative and well-executed. I haven't eaten anything like the duck sate in ages and, oddly enough, the pickles were stellar! As was earl gray ice cream.

Great Manhattan Beach Eatery
My wife and I had our 10 yr anniversary celebration here. The staff was very friendly and the bar and wine list was extensive. The food was delicious. We recommend the Kima Platha, Fried Okra, Green Mango w/Tamarind, Red Braised Pork Belly, Thin Egg Noodles with Shallots and Crispy Pork Bits, "Nem Nuong" spring rolls, Bucheron (fromage). To drink we had a Cane Sugar Coke and the Ballast Point Sculpin IPA. For desert, get the choice of three Macaroons. Everything was delicious.

Delicious, high quality Vietnamese
Really great balance of flavors. Loved the crispy pork rolls and bahn xeo. But very very loud.

Great service and food
Really enjoyed my business dinner. Christina was excellent and went above and beyond for us. Our entree took a little long coming out, but we were so busy talking that it was actually ok. The desserts, while small were delicious and the ice cream was like nothing I've ever had before. The tables can be a little close ( so much so, it was actually hard to get through to sit down) but I think that's part of a bring a small space that is in high demand. Hostess was great and understanding to my clients tardiness navigating the parking in area. Will recommend & return;)

A pinch of flair!
Awesome music fills the room and sets a laidback ambiance. Food and service was great! Awesome little neighborhood spot!

Love it...but more veggies!
Wonderful, but need more veggie options for non-meat eaters!
10/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
Was my 4th visit to Little Sister. The food is interesting and awesome. I've loved it every time. My favorite place to sit is the bar. It's a bit quiter and fun to watch the chef. The service is fantastic. Very knowledgeable wait staff. Hostess called me this past visit to let me know we could arrive earlier than our 9pm reservation, which I found as excellent customer service.
10/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great food. Too loud
Everything we ordered was between very good and awesome. But noise level was way too high (and
Im a rock musician)

Really Liked It
It's a very cool place with great food, a good wine list and wonderful service. The only downside is that it was incredibly loud.

Time After Time
This was my third dining experience at Little Sister in five weeks. The food was spectacular once again. The Sea Bass was hands down the best. We also enjoyed the meatballs (we have ordered this on all three visits) one of the Okra dishes, and the Jasmine rice. What I love about Little Sister is that every dish has multiple layers of taste, multiple nuances. The flavors just keep bursting forth. One of the dishes we ordered was too spicy for all three of us, so our waiter (Pierce I believe) promptly took it back and had another prepared that was spiced perfectly for us. The service was friendly, personable and professional as usual. I am sure my next visit to LS is right around the corner.

Manhattan Ave---the place to be
How lucky those of us in Manhattan Beach are. Yet another amazing chef has found his home in Manhattan Beach. The food was an amazing explosion of taste, texture and flavors. Our waitress was one of the most professional and gracious of any I have met. She was our willing food guide to the adventure of the menu. It is small plates to share. My favorites were the "charred sugar cane shrimp" , "Imperial rolls" and the "duck sate". Least favorite were the "balinese style fried meat balls" a little too dry. A do not miss was the dessert menu. A choice of 3 bites. We had apple butterscotch tart, fallen chocolate soufle and peanut butter profiterole. All were amazing.
10/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
Delicate Asian Flavor
This is my second trip to Little Sister and it did not disappoint! I made the reservation after my last visit to go with a larger group so we could try a greater variety of dishes. The best thing about the place is that the dishes each have a unique flavor that is well balanced. The duck sate, kima platha, salt & pepper lobster, sweet clams, pork spare rib and Vietnamese lemongrass beef were the favorites of the night. There are still many dishes that I need to try. The servicers were friendly and helpful. I can’t wait until my next dining adventure at Little Sister.

New spot in Manhattan Beach
New spot in Manhattan Beach which seems to be finding its sweet spot. Fun atmosphere. Great for a night out with friends. Some of the food was great, some was just okay. Wine list could be better. Very attentive manager who made it a point to come out and say hello and make sure the night was going great.

Manhattan Beach Gem, Little Sister
Little Sister is quite a treat for all. The food is impeccable in preparation. Presentation is superb. The service is friendly and helpful.
I had read in the local paper about this restaurant and its young chef. He is really as great as they wrote about him to be. He is quite talented. The restaurant is small so one does need a reservation to be sure to get a table. I love the way I could enjoy the food without being totally stuffed. Portions were perfect. They do use seasonal ingredients superbly. I would recommend that everyone check this place out. It is marvelous.
10/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
Fantastic Asian cuisine
Just when you thought the neighborhood couldn't take anymore awesome, hot deliciousness, they bring this one in. Its a bit more adventurous than the surrounding fare, which makes it unique and exciting. I had so much food I can't remember everything, and it was all great. Its a little loud though, more so than other places in the area. So don't go for a quiet dinner. Go for a free for all of pan-Asian food. Great!
10/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
Delicious and spicy!!
Very chic and beautiful interior. Our wait staff was helpful and professional. We had early dinner reservations and the restaurant was quiet but our dishes were paced perfectly (sometimes food comes out too fast in that scenario). The wine list had a lot of interesting and unusual choices. We tried a chardonnay called Heroine and it was delicious. Every single dish we had was perfect. Interesting flavor combinations that were unexpected. There is so much to explore on the menu so we will definitely be back!!

Another Awesome Meal
This is now my 5th time at Little Sister and I already made my next reservation to go back. We have a group going for a friend's Birthday Celebration and none of the other guest have tried the place yet. I am sure they will love it as much as I do. It is wonderful to have another restaurant in Manhattan Beach with truly wonderful food. My other fav in the area is MB Post.

Great light dinner
We had the quail and the thin noodles along with a satay. Perfect light dinner!

Excellent food and excellent
Excellent food and excellent service. I would highly recommend the restaurant.
11/2/2013 5:00:00 PM
The wait staff was immensely helpful in explaining the menu and recommending the most popular dishes. My friend had a severe shrimp allergy and the waiter went back to the kitchen and marked an X on the menu for every item that would either contain shrimp or come in contact with it while being prepared. I had a spicy prawn salad and red snapper. Both were superb. My companion found a beef dish that contained no hint of shrimp and was more than pleased with her choice. The ambiance is wonderful, from the classy black-paned front windows to the wall art. I was so impressed with the food, the service and the atmosphere that I immediately called some Foodie Friends and we're eating there again in a month. So, so good and in my hometown to boot!
11/3/2013 4:00:00 PM
a nice change
Good flavorful food in a nice little place in downtown MB. I really enjoyed the night there. Very good service in a nice atmosphere. I am looking forward to my next visit to try more flavor filled dishes

Little Sister is a great new addition to Manhattan Beach's dining scene. The food was amazing! We loved the ethnic flavors and the casual, upbeat atmosphere. The restaurant is super loud but in a fun way. Our food took longer than expected, but when we pointed this out to the manager, he instantly was on it. The staff couldn't have been nicer and were extremely helpful in assisting us with recommending items from the menu and choosing wine. Can't wait to eat there again.

We loved (!) the food and
We loved (!) the food and will definatley return. My only complant is the somewhat cramped seating along the south wall which makes service a bit awkward if you are in any of the middle tables. I would suggest trying to book one of the larger tables in the front of the resaurant.
12/1/2013 4:00:00 PM
The staff was exceptionally congenial and attentive. The food reminded me of my favorite restaurant in Singapore. I wish the space was larger so as to accommodate larger parties easier. Seating is a little cramped.
12/4/2013 4:00:00 PM
Great menu with lots of flavor.
Great menu with lots of flavor. Wanted to try it all! Dessert was fun because you sample 3 small sweet goodness options. Perfect!
Can't wait to go back;)

One thing can change everything
The three of primarily enjoyed the inventive dishes and attentive service. Ambience is warm and funky too with soundtrack very hip hop and a bit loud.
One main dish included a kind of crab and one in our party had a sharp claw portion in her mouth - a dinner dud that brought us down. Quite sharp - pleased no one was hurt. Little Sister were appropriately nice and took that dish off our bill which was nice. Still - may give us pause to return.
