What a lovely place, a little
What a lovely place, a little iron flat building in the center of San Francisco. We love the atmosphere of a mixture of cafe, bar and restaurant. We had the porter house steak and the pasta arabiata. Both were delicious. Service was well-timed and very friendly.

Old world charm
This is a beautiful space in an historic SF building refurbished by Francis Ford Coppola's team. The delicious food, wine, and white-aproned waiters exude the classical stylishness of NYC's Little Italy--and of our own North Beach of old.I had a lovely lasagne lunch there with a friend in one of the dark red-leathered booths in the back. A reasonably priced treat to old world charm.

Delicious authentic New York
Delicious authentic New York Italian food served by an attentive waitstaff genuinely determined to make you feel at home. The excellent wine list (of course) compliments the rich flavors of the menu. Dined with our two teenage daughters who had as good a time as we did. We rolled out of there stuffed like we were leaving grandmas house.

Great food, unpretentious scene
It's hard to ignore who is the owner, given the tchotchkes, posters, and signed photos all around, BUT that doesn't change the fact that Zoetrope is a really excellent neighborhood Italian restaurant. It has what is probably the best spaghetti carbonara I've had outside Rome. The staff is attentive without being cloying. I will happily return.

Favorite home-away-from-home place.
I think I visited the cafe four times during my two-week stay in North Beach. The pizza crust is addictive. A glass of Coppola wine always a must.

There are so many restaurants in North Beach and the area of this restaurant, it was hard to choose. The food was very good and the waiter was attentive enough and kind. Everything came out in a time manner. The dining room is small, a little tight so if there are any loud parties adjacent to your table in the room, it may get loud. Otherwise very much enjoyed the evening, but would probably venture out and try one of the many other busy restaurants in the area for variety next time.

This place is great
Every time we're in town we eat here. The spaghetti and meatballs are my favorite. I know that doesn't sound exciting but they're my favorite.

North Beach delight
We had the pleasure of dining at Zoetrope Cafe on a recent Friday evening. There were 6 in our group. The place is charming, located in a historic SF building. We chose to dine inside although there was seating on the sidewalk. It was quite, intimate and conducive to conversation. The service and food were excellent. We had a wonderful time. We all thought that this is what dining out in San Francisco should be like. Not fussy, reasonably priced, fun, not rushed. We'll be back for sure!

An Absolute Favorite
There's good reason that Cafe Zoetrope is a favorite restaurant of mine and my boyfriend's. The food is perfect and unpretentious - a great Caesar salad, the best spaghetti and meatballs, the miraculous malfatti, and the chocolate mousse.... an epiphany! The wines are lovely and the Coppola winery offers a nice selection. (I'm a big fan of the sparkling Sofia.) The place itself is the epitome of a European bistro. It's a gorgeous little spot. But the best thing about Zoetrope is the genuinely gracious, warm, and welcoming staff. Whenever we have friends visiting from out of town, we invariably bring them here and we always have a wonderfully memorable time.

Nice dinner, interesting spot
We had a nice finner and we think it was funny that the whole place is centered on Coppola - his movies and his wine

Iconic Building, Iconic Food
The inside of the building has almost as much interest as the iconic exterior. One of my favorite buildings in San Francisco is now one of my favorite places to have Italian food. Italian Bread this good is a rare find. The pasta dishes I and my two dinner friends ordered were all excellent!! Service personnel were very attentive without hovering. I'm coming back for the pizza I saw being served to a nearby table!!

My husband and I came here on our first night of our honeymoon. He learned about it when he was researching Francis Ford Coppola's winery. I made a reservation through OpenTable and mentioned that we would be on our honeymoon. They were expecting us when we arrived. Service was excellent. We each got a flight of three of Coppola's reserve wines. I ordered the linguini and clams. My only complaint was that it was a tad salty... but I love salt. When we ordered dessert, our waiter presented us each with a complimentary glass of champagne and our desserts were also comped. It was beautiful here! Thank you for an amazing night!

A fabulous evening
Another fabulous experience here. Our new favorite place when we are in San Francisco. Third time here and it gets better each time, somehow. Wine, food, service second to none.

Just missed Francis...
As a big movie fan, the main draw of this restaurant was that it's owned by Francis Ford Copolla. Imagine my disappointment at hearing from our waitress 'actually, he only just left this evening...'. So close!
The starter salad we had was actually a little disappointing, but we both enjoyed our main courses.
My wife is very particular about her wine, and is not a fan of 'new world' wines. So was initially disappointed to see Californian wines being the only real option. However, as they were from FFC's own vineyard, she took the plunge and opted for the Pinot. She had to swallow her pride, and said it was one of the best wines she'd tasted in a long time, to the point we bought a bottle to take home to the UK with us!

A switch worth making
We'd originally reserved a table at an oyster bar, but when a craving for Italian struck, made a last-minute switch to Cafe Zoetrope ... and we're so glad we did. The food was delicious, the ambiance inviting, and the service went above and beyond. If you enjoy Coppola wines as much we do, there is much to delight in here. The sommelier was knowledgeable without being arrogant, and we were richly rewarded by his suggestions. Our ample mains left no room for dessert, but they looked delicious from afar.

What's not to love?
Italian comfort food. I imagine that this would be how my grandma would make it if she were Italian. Wines are straight from Coppola. Love this place. Found Cafe Zoetrope 10 years ago and two days ago. Celebrating our 10 year anniversary and it is just as fabulous.

My son is very picky about food, but he thought this was the best pizza ever !!
I had the gnocchi and can tell you it was amazing. The spaghetti and meatballs were fantastic.
