This is quite a place. Parking is good for the neighborhood. Ambiance is great. Chef came out to introduce himself. Dishes are his own. Coming back.

We love this place!
My wife and I went a couple of weeks ago based on a friend's recommendation. We had a wonderful experience. The service was wonderful but not intrusive. The food was fantastic and quite interesting--the brussell spouts, salads and osso buco are killer. Interesting and reasonable wine list--they have a wonderful Listel Rose. Also some very nice beer on draught.
So we went last night with three friends and they too loved it. Again the service and the food were exemplary! The chef/owner came out and spoke with us, then sent out some amazing desserts. It was an extraordinary evening.

Simply great food.
My wife and I have been to Tapenade three times now with various friends and no dish has disappointed us. Great flavors and textures. Looking forward to going back again soon!

I love small plates when everyone gets a taste...and tasty is what you will get at Tapanade. Each item was a little treasure, unique tastes put together, each a delight. And our waitress was absolutely wonderful! Good job Tapanade!

Fantastic food with great service. How come that is so hard to find these days? It feels like Grandma's kitchen but Grandma never made Thai Brussel Sprouts! A lunch-time treat and no doubt good for dinner as well. I thoroughly recommend this place. You must try the bacon-wrapped dates if nothing else.

Every dish I've tried is delicious. Great parking, lovely staff!

We could not have been more pleased with the food and service. It is one of the best in L.A.

loved the food i hated as a child
Since my childhood I've I disliked olives and brussel sprouts. So, I was reluctant to try the goat cheese tapenade and the spanish brussel sprouts. However, they were absolutely amazing. I enjoyed them as much as much as I enjoyed the rest of my meal which included the short rib sandwich, caesar salad, and tiramisu. Everything was delicious. The great food was accompanied by a enjoyable atmosphere and superb service. I don't know how anyone could dislike this place.

Awesome new neighborhood spot
Delicious menu, great happy hour, and large portions for a tapas restaurant! Super cute patio area off the beaten path, just far enough away from the noise of Sawtelle.

surprising little foodie mecca
Stuck in a strip mall, this unassuming place packs major flavor in some truly global cuisine.
8/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
this restaurant feels like someone's labor of love. many dishes you don't see on other menus. plates vary in size from very very small (delicious artichoke salad) to more than ample for sharing (brussel sprouts). be advised that restaurant will not accommodate requests to alter dishes in any way, even if you have allergies, even if you just want something omitted. prices are reasonable for the quality of the ingredients. waiter and entire waitstaff were friendly and efficient. limited wine list, but a reasonable $15 corkage.

Too much olive oil
The food was very interesting and different. I'm not a brussell sprout fan but the way they prepare them was unusual. The leaves were peeled and baked and crispy. Very tasty and different. The lamb osso bucco was very good.
Enjoyed the flavors but there was too much oil on the Italian brussell sprouts and Tapenade linguini dishes. We overheard one customer sending back something with the remark that it was too "oily" so I didn't feel it was just us.
We will return to Tapenade to try some other dishes.

A TRUE FIND!
For some unknown reason, maybe location, Tapenade has not been FOUND by the masses who love fine dining in L.A. The food is always delicious and creative. I am a fussy eater and there has not been anything that I tried that has not been outstanding! Fun to share dishes and if you want great service, this is the place to go.....the secret....ask for Matthew!

We celebrated my son's birthday at Tapenade on 9/5/13. We were exceptionally warmly greeted by the manager and had every bit of attention we could possibly want. The corkage fee was reasonable and we brought our own vine, which was properly chilled and served. Food was great, but desserts were heavenly. We ordered everything on that menu and sampled each other's goodies. My son got his candle, even though I didn't request anythins special, they probably overheard us talking about this being his B-day and that was another nice touch. All in all, we had a great time and I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. Thank you, Tapenade.

Bring a crowd...
...And cover your table with wonderful small and main plates to share from Brussel sprouts - 4 ways through perfectly roasted chicken breast - assorted other vegetable delicacies - fish of the day and shell fish - and onto a warm banana custard crumble with a vanilla bean gelato crown. You will not be disappointed

A great option foodies
As a foodie coming from the Bay Area, it's rare that I can recommend a restaurant in LA but Tapenade definitely makes the cut. Every dish was tasty and the service was both prompt and friendly. The space itself was nicely done as well, having a modern contemporary look. On top of that, I appreciated the spacious on-site garage, as I've never been fond of valet service.

This is really a neighborhood gem. A welcoming and knowledgeable wait staff. Comfortable, cozy, inviting patio. And the food is sublime. Everything we had was swoon-worthy-- scallops, brussel sprouts, lobster bisque, ginger-carrot-cinnamon soup, prosciutto wrapped dates, branzino, etc. We stayed for hours, laughed a lot, drank some wine and had a gorgeous meal. Thank you, Tapenade

A friend and I met at Tapenade for lunch. It is a beautiful restaurant and the service was exceptional. We loved the original crispy cauliflower, the tuna tartare/sashimi and the seared scallops. With our glasses of wine, we had a relaxing, enjoyable, lovely lunch at this hidden gem in the Olympic Collection.

Why isn't this place packed???
This restaurant should be packed every night. The food is fantastic, the wait staff is super friendly, and the atmosphere is very nice. It's in a strip mall but don't let that sway you. Also easy parking on the streets around the restaurant. I need this place to stay in business, so GO!!!

A Terrific, Unpretentious Place
Been here twice for dinner and I've been delighted by the food. The servings are tapas sized and meant to be shared. The tableside seasonings are ridiculously good and the dishes like the polenta, the pear salad, and the fettuccini with mushrooms are just heavenly. However, what has to be eaten to be believed are the brussel sprouts, which are unlike anything I've ever eaten. They are absurdly delicious. The service is also very warm, helpful, and downright friendly. The Westside is lucky to have this place. Go!

Food was fantastic!
We found it on Open Table and were celebrating our last night in California. The food was exceptional-truly fine dining at it's best, and I thought very moderately priced for the quality. It was a few weeks ago, so I don't remember exactly what we ordered, but I do know that we ordered a few small plates and we were too stuffed for dessert!
I will mention is the parking in the area was a nightmare until we discovered the underground parking lot right in the same shopping center-don't make the mistake of trying to find street parking. The other thing is we had an Open Table check which we used towards our meal. The service was fabulous until I gave them the check. He definitely coped an attitude which put a damper on the evening.

Really liked this place
I gave the food an average rating. My husband and I went for a late small snack and ordered 3 small dishes. The Moroccan brussel sprouts were great, but the other two dishes were only average. The wine by the glass was from a Napa winery I didn't know and was fabulous. Service was great and because of the hour, it was very easy to talk without shouting. I will definitely come back because the tapas are more unusual than at most tapas restaurants and I want to try more.

Great new place with unique dishes
We were very happy to find tapenade. The whole experience was wonderful, from the easy parking (in the attached lot so no circling the block 20times) to the great banana desert the whole time we were impressed. The Brussels sprouts section of the menu was totally unique and delivered an amazing dish that was packed with flavor. Half of our group went small plates for entrees well the others went with oneofc the entree course fish specials. Nothing but good things to say about the food. Service was great, aided by the fact that the restaurant was sparse with patrons - hopefully they do a good enough business to stick around as tapenade is likely to turn into a go to spot for us, especially when meeting friends or hosting out of towers.

A real neighborhood gem
We had wo different salads and both were outstanding. Also had the scallops and they were the best we had ever eaten. Can't wait to go back with our son who is a real foodie. Also, our waitress was lovely, very attentive. Also recommending it to our friends.

Excellent undiscovered gem.
Second time here. Both were great. Ate lunch on the patio. Relaxing atmosphere with great food. Could live on the brussel sprout appetizers. All food excellent and fresh. Location in mini-mall feels awkward but food and service is a delight.

Tucked away in a business/conference center - Tapenade is a lovely, understated restaurant with outstanding food. From the various offerings under the crispy Brussel Sprouts, and other appetizers, to salads, pasta and main courses, every plate we ordered was equally delicious, the burratta salad with fig, roasted hazelnuts and reduction was outstanding, the seared scallops were delicate and perfectly prepared - we sampled 5 or 6 dishes and found none lacking in any way. Dessert - a warm, not too sweet and perfectly delicious Banana Gratin is reason enough to return. I enjoyed it thoroughly and look forward to many future meals!

Awesome place. Delicious food, great sangrias. Worth every penny.

Will be back
We went to Tapenade for lunch and were pleasantly surprised with the options. They have brussel sprouts made in several different ways, all of which are divine. I had the tuna and salmon sashimi. It was a VERY large portion that I was extremely pleased with. Well flavored with an interesting presentation. Nutella dessert was somewhere btwn okay and good.
The only downfall was one of the servers charged our cards incorrectly and doubled the amt on one of the cards. They apologized profusely once we brought it to their attention. So I recommend you pay close attention to your bill!!!
Again, the food was excellent and I will certainly be back to try some new selections.

Obviously I'm a fan with five stars across the board but this was the perfect pre-holiday lunch with two out of town visitors who love the best food without the fuss. Bacon wrapped dates, Brussels sprouts leaves crisped with capers and parmesan, gnocchi with tomato and garlic, a fresh, lightly crunchy asparagus salad, and a fig and bleu cheese tartine or flatbread that was outrageously good. Ginger beer and the best sangria in many moons completed the beverage selection with an over the top banana gratin that, thankfully, was shared by the three of us. Less than a hundred dollars for the three of us before tip with exemplary service: knowing, friendly with good recommendations. Returning soon.

Surprise on Sawtelle
When in LA, we almost always eat at one of the many nice Asian places on Sawtelle. This time, we were in the area, but weren't in the mood for Asian. My wife looked up Tapenade, and saw the good reviews, so we gave it a try.
It was an outstanding experience. The waiter (from France) was charming and knowledgeable. We had four people and we all shared a wide variety of Tapas-style dishes. Everything was great. One of their specialties is Crispy Brussel Sprouts, and they offer them at least six different ways. As a bonus, it was still happy-hour and many of our dishes were only $6 each. Try the crispy-lamb, the goat-cheese tapenade, or really anything else.
We'll be back many times whether or not we get there in time for happy hour.
