I love the innovative and delicious menu! The service is always amazing and it's a fun place to eat.

You will like this place
I really enjoyed dining at The Granary. The dinner menu in the evening is quite different from your basic bbq fare. The pork belly was fantastic! The only reason I gave the restaurant 4 instead of five stars was that my dining companions were disappointed that you couldn't get certain Bbq items on the bbq board entree, although they did go out of their way to let some of group add brisket rather than pulled pork or turkey. The in house hand crafted beers are very good.

Not your father's bbq
BBQ was original and very creative - most dishes were outstanding. Eating on picnic type tables with no back support was not comfortable.

Real Southern Sweet Tea
If you're looking for Southern Sweet Tea, this is the place for it! Brewed hot, then iced down with simple syrup added for sweetness, their sweet tea with a hint of lemon that is exactly what a Southern needs for refreshment.
I recommend the Texas Toast with barbecue butter for an appertizer, and their Barbecue Board for dinner. Their baked beans were probably the best part of the meal. All seating is benches at picnic tables, plus they serve their beverages in mason jars.

BBQ / fancy food
If you've heard about the amazing BBQ (Texas Monthly Top 50), then you need to go at lunch. The menu is fancier and more interesting in the evening. The dinner BBQ plate has, basically, what is left over from lunch (for me, it was pulled pork and turkey). My wife's "beef clod" (shoulder) was very good. Nice beer selection.

Great 'Cue & Brew and wine
My wife and I had dinner here and were expecting great BBQ. Started with Texas Toast with BBQ butter; then each ordered the market board, one with ribs and pulled pork, and the other with brisket and pulled pork; and finished with Buttermilk Chess Pie and an order of Beer and Pretzel Ice Cream. Everything exceeded our expectations including the beer and wine selection. We will definitely be back!

My expierence was good aver all, food it's really good but I think they can do some improvements, my seat was at one of the front windows, and had all the Sun on my face, need something to cover that window. Music wasn't appropriate for the place.

Outside the BBQ Comfort Zone...
This place totally exceeded my expectations. The 'BBQ' is anything but traditional...but absolutely creative and delicious! The house brews were also a big hit with our group. Definitely a unique addition to the SA restaurant scene.

Don't miss the Texas Toast
The Granary's Texas Toast is by far one of the best things I've ever eaten. At first you sit down and see Texas Toast listed as a starter; you think to yourself 1)"Why are they charging for bread?", and 2) "What's the big deal about Texas Toast?" I'm here to tell you right now...DO NOT OVERLOOK THIS! YOU MUST TRY IT!! The toast itself is absolutely delicious, but the thing that stands out is the butter...OMG!! The most amazing butter in the world accompanies these lovely, gigantic pieces of manna from heaven. This butter is infused with drippings from all of the lovely meats the Granary's 'cues up...SO, SO, SO GOOD!!! Don't forget about their custom-brewed beers, either. The Brown Ale is quite tasty!

Man this place is good! I'm depressed that it took me so long to try it! Get the lamb, it'll knock your socks off

This place was awesome, great beers and the food was fantastic! We got the fried green tomato app, the pork belly and beef clod for entrees and the buttermilk chess pie and soft serve desserts. I LOVED everything, my favorite was the beef clod.

A group of 7 of us ate here last weekend for my boyfriend's birthday. Everyone really enjoyed their meals! I had the grilled lamb, which was excellent, but I think the pork belly was the best. We also shared a slice of buttermilk pie for dessert, which was divine! My only gripe is that they don't accept reservations between 6:30pm and 9:00pm. If you can't make a reservation during peak business hours, why offer them at all? Since we had a big group, it would have been useful to make a reservation at the time we hoped to eat. Otherwise, great food and great service, we will definitely return!

Modern barbecue is delcious!
This is not traditional barbecue, but don't let that intimidate you, it's delicious. Everything on the menu interested me which rarely happens when I dine out. I had the beef clod, and every part of the dish was delicious, but the coffee crunch quinoa was the best bit.
Their house beer is all tasty, but the rye saison was the star. I wish I was local so I could have taken home a growler. They also offer their own sodas which true to The Granary's style is unlike anything you've had, but equally delicious. The root beer had just the right amount of sweet, but was much more earthy than anything I've ever tasted previously.
All in all I'm hoping to make return trips to San Antonio just so I can sample more of what The Granary has to offer.

Great foodie destination.
Great foodie destination. Arrived early and even though not open one of the owners let us sample beers and explained craft beers on hand. Service was good. Had lamb which was good, split pea pudding just for plate dressing. Wife's pulled pork little dry and burnt, but beans were excellent on thier own. Server did good job on finding out lamb souce from chef. Would go again and try beer sampler and fish looked good on neighbors plate.

Creative and Delicious
I had the Beef Clod on my first visit, and began craving it not long after, wasn't happy until I had it again! We also loved the fried green tomato appetizer, which we enjoyed on both visits, and our second visit, we also loved the grits fritters, and barbecue sampler plate.
There are wonderful quirky deliciously creative touches on the plates, The cornbread bites on the Beef Clod plate are like little clouds!
The portions are just right for having a whole meal, because I don't want to leave out any of the courses!

Fabulous as always!
Since we stumbled on the Granary a few months back my husband and I have taken numerous people here for dinner, visiting about once every other week. As always, the food was fantastic and and the service outstanding!

Best in San Antonio!
Best dish I've had in San Antonio! The brisket Ramen is to die for! Make sure you make reservations!

If I recall correctly... I believe that the waitress stated that all ingredients were organic. I personally don't care one way or another if they were organic, however one notable mention that everything on the menu was hand made from scratch regardless of what it was. They also have 4 beers and rhubarb cola and a root beer that was nothing like I have tasted before. This place was gourmet meets BBQ style. The dishes were very filling and satisfying. The building was an house that was remodeled to a restaurant complete with its own distillery. Old fashioned wood panel walls and giant slab wood tables with benches made out of wood. This place would be perfect for a group 8 people. Though it is quiet, urban trendsetter, personal.

Menu took alittle to decipher
Menu took alittle to decipher but our server was very helpful Serving sizes
Are small but the food is filling. Had the brisket ramen a little different play
On the usual. Loved the in house brewed root beer. The barbecue
Board the most usual fare but the smoked favor great! Be careful of the
Smoked butter it's quite tasty but very rich.

Good food, really fast (too fast)
They were clearing our appetizer plates before we finished, because the entrees were arriving. The food is excellent, but they sure are in a hurry to turn tables. Do not order your entree when you order your appetizer if you want to have a civilized, casual meal. Our waiter was great, made appropriate recommendations on food and beer selection.

Server was knowledgeable on
Server was knowledgeable on the menu in all aspects, great delivery of the menu itself. Andrew really loves his job, and it shows. He took great pride in explaining the menu and wne pairings along with brew pairings. This pace was an 11 for me. Thus prices were not outrageous either.

We were in the Pearl Brewery area at Sam's burger joint for some live music (nice cozy venue btw) and weren't in the mood for a burger. (although they're pretty good) So, we walked over to the Granary. We were promptly seated, the decor was nice. It had an antique, country, yet modern feel. The service was great. The server was knowledgeable and attentive without being obtrusive. We ordered the grits fritters and the smoked sqashed appetizers which were both excellent. Our entrees were the grilled lamb and the pork belly. We recommend both. The lamb was cooked perfectly. The pork belly was smoky and had a melt in your mouth quality. During the day it's a more traditional BBQ place, will try it out asap!

great atmosphere with knowledgable service. food was absolutely the great tasting and very flavorful

Our group was surprised with the quality of the food. We expected "The usual San Antonio BBQ" and were amazed at the flavorful and fork tender BBQ we all had. BBQ lovers have to try this place! And the sides were great too!

Great food. Small portions,
Great food. Small portions, even for a small-plates kinda place. The duck was excellent, as was the beer. Will be back to try lunch sometime soon.

Yum--upscale Texas BBQ
Sophisticated riffs on Tried and True Texas barbecue. The smoky aroma upon entering the place had me at hello.

Unexpected San Antonio surprise
We were in town for the San Antonio marathon and wanted to find a place that would accommodate our diverse party (French, Irish, Italian and five well-traveled Americans). The Granary was an unexpected surprise in many ways. The ambiance was upscale with a rustic vibe. Service staff was extraordinarily knowledgeable about both the preparation, sourcing and components of the dishes (my wife is gluten-free so this is a must). While it is small-plate focused, everyone left completely satisfied and my European friends were very impressed with both the quality of the food and the composition of the menu. The Pearl Brewery complex continues to be a developing highlight for the San Antonio area and is perfect for a night out. Great evening.

First time, not the last!
a cut above regular Texas bbq. They still had a few pastrami portions left from Pastrami Friday lunch, so our table shared as an appetizer.... unlike any I've ever had. Wonderful flavor, tender, and the homemade light rye was great. Other appetizers enjoyed at our table were the smoked squash and the grits fritters. Dinner plates ordered... the lamb curry was AMAZING; my husband did manage to share one bite with me! I had the beef clod, very tender, smoky, flavorful. Quinoa crisp was good flavor, but know it will sound like you are crunching on glass. So worth the distraction. Others had the shrimp and grits and barbecue board. All enjoyed. Dessert choice for all was the pecan glass with chocolate ganache. Black ale a can't miss.

Imaginative menu, great service
Every dinner we've had at the Granary has been fabulous. Attentive, friendly service. Innovative, unique menu. Fantastic execution and delicious plates. Even the one time that we had a dish we didn't enjoy (Smoked Lamb Leg), the response from the manager and servers was topnotch and everything was great.

Grit fritters delightful, entrees delicious, sides unique and tasty! Enjoyed dinner and would love to try lunch. Service gracious and prompt. Desserts just the right size and yummy! An overall great experience!

Not your typical BBQ place.
More like modern cuisine with an eclectic BBQ flavor. Do not come here expecting the Super Size portions found in BBQ venue. This place provides a dining experience with excellent house made root beer and strawberry-cilantro non-alcoholic drinks and a decent to excellent selection of local brews and wine. Plates are flavorful. Fried green tomatoes and Texas Toast were outstanding. I really enjoyed my experience here though I was looking for a huge rack of ribs and mounds of brisket and pulled pork when I made the reservation. Strongly recommend.

What a Gem!
Just tried the new Granary in San Antonio by the Pearl Brewery and thoroughly enjoyed myself--great service, very eclectic menu however small, excellent qualilty and a real eating experience. We needed an explanation of the entrees and the "welcomings" with all the unusual ingredients of which the wait staff was throoughly knowledgeable. Looking forward to going back for lunch. East to get to also.

Something different in San Antonio
This place likes to challenge your taste buds. First time I tried ranch ice cream with my fried green tomatoes. I enjoyed everything I ate. Portion sizes are not huge so you may feel like you're not getting your moneys worth if you're looking for big heaping plates of meat. This is not a Rudy's BBQ type restaurant. Get the "Clod", its delicious and probably one of the heartiest meals on the menu. The dishes are very specialized, interesting, new, and the service was excellent. Try their hand crafted IPA beer, it's awesome.

Wasn't sure what to expect. What a wonderful surprise. Innovative scrumptious food. Beautiful presentation. I am from out of town and want to experience the "foodie" scene. This was it! Cheese plate with homemade chutneys was lovely. Fried green tomatoes with ranch ice cream. Soo yummy! Beef Clod-denser than brisket, but still very tender. The coffee quinoa crisps for a topping were out of this world. Definitely a winner, in my book!

Awesome Food & Fabulous Company
While visiting San Antonio on business, I was lucky enough to experience The Granary 'Cue & Brew. I enjoyed my dinner the first night so much so that I went back for dinner the second night. I will definitely be coming back next time I'm in San Antonio again.
