We tried this restaurant on a whim. I've walked past here a few times on my way to other places in downtown Culver City. One of my coworkers recommended it. My husband and I really loved it. It's small. I love the decor, especially the chandeliers. The food was so yummy. The portion size was perfect (not too much, not too little). The prices were totally reasonable. My husband and I came here for a date night, and it was just what the doctor ordered. The staff was nice. We're please to have found such a delightful restaurant so close to home.

Worth a trip to Culver City
I have eaten there twice now and was very impressed with the meals. Their seafood risotto was excellent as was my wife's seafood pasta. For desert (we tried most of them) their tiramisu was different: lemony and lovely. On my first time there I had the poached eggs with shaved black truffles and the octopus salad with green beans and diced potatoes. Both were wonderful. I'm just back from Sicily and must say the octopus was cooked as well as any I had there. I'll be back and try other dishes.
I understand that the high quality of the food is in part because the head chef is a veteran of the Drago kitchens.

Terrific food and service
Tried this new Culver City spot last Saturday for dinner and we were both very pleasantly surprised. We split an appetizer of grillwd vegetables topped with some provolone cheese which was very good. We both ordered pasta dishes and the texture and flavor of their fresh-made pasta was fantastic. I loved my Orecchiette with sausage and broccoli and the Papperdelle with duck ragu was delicious too!

Great food, service needs work
We were seated right behind the Hostess Station. The owner was stationed there most of the night which was a great help to us. We ordered our wine but it didn't come, we ordered it again from someone else and it didn't come. I told the owner and he brought it in one minute. Between appetizers and entrees our bread basket was cleared. Owner noticed and had it replaced. The food was just wonderful. Each dish was excellent. We had the Caprese and also Squash Blossoms. Portions were substantial. Entrees arrived and they were also great. Gnocci and Porchetta. Owner told us about desserts and we ordered a Tarte Tatin which was really well caramelized and tender. Wines were also top quality. Price was quite reasonable too.

Nice Italian Add to Culver City
Pros: Great Italian owner and chef who know what they are doing. The only place we've ever seen gnocco fritto in LA (served with the mixed meat and cheese platter - delicious!). The very best panna cotta we've had outside of Italy. Nice overall atmosphere.
Cons: It's a little cramped and service was a bit distracted.
Overall: This is real Italian food and definitely worth a try for those looking for authentic Italian. The friendly vibe and delicious food definitely warrant an overall very good rating. Great to have an Italian restaurant of this quality in Downtown Culver City. The revamped Ugo's and the soon-to-arrive Eatalian offshoot, along with 041 Bacaro, will instantly make Culver City an authentic Italian food mecca.

My New Favorite
I love everything about this place: food, service ambiance. I will be a regular.

A Nice Addition
We really enjoyed Friday evening at 041. Striking interior. Good salads, pizza and pasta. Check it out.

New gem in Culver City
A wonderful addition to the Culver City food scene....very nicely decorated, extensive menu. Everything we had was plentiful and delicious. Squash blossom appetizer was perfect, veal scallopini was excellent, the side of grilled vegetable could have been a dinner....very large portion. Service was outstanding...all in all a very good dining experience.

Great Neighborhood Italian
Tried 041 Bacaro on a lark. We are Culver locals and were very pleasantly surprised at the high quality of the food and service. Had the margherita pizza, spaghetti bolognaise and cannoli -- all excellent. The pasta was very fresh (homemade), and the meat sauce was excellent. The wait staff were attentive and there seemed to be a healthy rotation of daily specials. Prices were fair, but less in comparison with some of the pricier downtown Culver places. Would definitely recommend giving a try.

Enjoyed a wonderful relaxed dinner celebrating my friend's birthday. All the dishes were beautiful to look at and so delicious! I enjoyed the pasta with duck ragu but the pumpkin ravioli were amazing!!! The servers we had really pampered us.
I will definitely return to try some new dishes. The hour drive was worth it.

A little taste of italy
I took a friend who has spent a lot of time in Italy to 041 Bacaro. he was delighted as the menu had dishes that he had not seen on any menus in Southern California. The waiters are attentive and friendly. The restaurant has a nice intimate feel. The food is really flavorful. The Spaghetti Carbonara which my friend ordered was amazing. I will have to order it the next time I go.

I just came back from Italy and was craving real Authentic Italian food, this place came close! Order the pink gnocchi w/gorgonzola, you'll see what i mean. I also had the cicchetti with parma ham & fig, pretty delicious as well. Great service, wine selection was pricy but worth it. Service was attentive and very friendly!

The food was very good. Shared
The food was very good. Shared a sausage pizza and linguini with seafood. However, we couldn't carry on a conversation with our friends as the noise level was way too high. Loved the food, but wouldn't go back until it's much quieter.

First time there
It's nice that there are still new and very good restaurants opening in Culver City. This one has authentic Italian fare which is always a treat. The service couldn't be nicer and the food is very, very good. Will go many times in the future.

Located on Culver City downtown
Located on Culver City downtown restaurant row, very lively ambiance, casual but interesting "industrial" decor. Many interesting items on menu. Excellent pasta made in-house. Our waiter Silvano was outstanding! When asked if Burrata & Cherry Tomatoes came with greens, he said no, but the kitchen would be glad to include them. The dish was attractively presented, and NO Charge. First time there but will return, want to try the stuffed zucchini blossoms

Great new Italian spot
Went for lunch with a co-worker. Had very good service and delicious pumpkin ravioli and pink gnocchi. The restaurant is new, and wasn't crowded for lunch.

Wow for service
This intimate dinning experience in Culver City was perfect for my step-mother's 60th. The service is impeccable—in fact, some of the best service I've ever had. They staff is very friendly, and very helpful. Always smiling and positive. The food was also excellent. It took some time for our dinner to come out as a we had lamb in the order, which takes time, but it we shared the pumpkin ravioli and another small bite between all of use. Overall, would recommend. Amazing experience!

what a great pleasure to find such an authentic offer of great food without fancy prices and an amazing ambience right on the culver city downtown promenade. A must try

authentic Italian in Culver City
Food is excellent, but could use more head waiters in staff. Taking orders take quite awhile, but food comes out promptly and many supporting staff to help with refills.

Overall we enjoyed our experience here. Food was delicious, great variety of menu options, delicious dessert. The only things that were not excellent was that when I ordered a glass of wine it was an exceptionally weak pour - felt closer to a half glass than a full glass, and for $10 a glass that felt disappointing. Also, the pace of service was actually too fast, which I know would seem like a good thing but instead of enjoying a nice dinner catching up with my friend over a variety of courses it was super rushed. Our entrees came about 5 minutes after our appetizer - which we weren't even close to done with - and they were already asking us about dessert before I was even done eating. They need to slow down and let their guests enjoy.

The pasta dishes are perfect for sharing. Handmade pasta with delicious sauces, fresh and ample portions. Love the energy of the staff and the restaurant. The pizzas are huge and thin crust. Would make this a weekly go-to place; can think of the dish and then yearn to have it immediately.

Great italian spot!
The wine list is amazing, we had a great bottle of Amarone. They also have great glasses of wine.
The food is amazing. Appetizers, I wish they came with more than just 2 tostadas, but they are good size so definitely worth it. I love the buratta and tomato.
The frito misto was great. The breading wasn't too heavy and it was not too oily - something that I absolutely hate. The seasoning was nice and not overpowering.
I had the penne arrabiata and it was amazing! It had a BIT too much sauce, but I wasn't complaining. I just used some of the crispy, warm bread to mop up the sauce!
We also had the bolognese - another measuring dish. It lived up to the high standards we have, so we will definitely be coming back!

Delicious and Lively
Loved this new restaurant! Food and service were great and prices reasonable. Will definitely go back again and again!

We have tried just about all the restaurants in downtown Culver City. 041 Bacaro has amazing food. I felt like I was eating in Italy.

Happy Birthday Dinner
We were accommodated and welcomed as soon as we arrived. The food was excellent and the service great. The staff was relaxed and encouraged everyone to have a god time.
8/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
We ordered the Magahrita Pizza, branzino, apple walnut salad and fetuccini with shrimp (called something Italian). We shared it among four of us and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Service was very friendly and helpful in explaing the dishes.

This is really an excellent
This is really an excellent and truly authentic Italian (I am Italian myself and know when I see one) . Portions are just as they should be to make room for an entrée after your starter. Service is very efficient and more than friendly. As for the décor you will find yourself in a sleek modern but casual setting. And, the price is ridiculously cheap... What a great find; don't miss it!

The service was okay. Not
The service was okay. Not outstanding. What was memorable was that the chef came out of the kitchen several times; talked to us; made recommendations regarding menu items and was very personable. She took a personal interest in making our dining experience a good one and was obviously very proud of her culinary efforts.
9/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food and service were very good! The only disppointment was that our group had to order three different bottles of wine, since they only had a bottle of two of our choices...
9/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
What gem, authentic cooking
The specials were great! Had to try the pasta on the side in order to test to see if I'd come back. They passed the test!
9/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
The dining experience overall
The dining experience overall was very enjoyable. Our server was a delight! The support staff was very responsive.
However, the timing out of the kitchen was wa-a-a-a-y off. And although the food was as good as I expected, I needed a magnifier to find the octopus in my octopus salad. They should have called it a green bean and potato salad with a hint of octopus and charged accordingly.

Molto autentico Italiano
Finalmente, an Italian restaurant with Italians cooking and serving. We went on a slow Tuesday night and had superb service from Martino and the Chef herself. Food was very good as we shared small plates of Fior di Zucca and pomodori carpaccio and the ravioli special - pumpkin with a ragu. Very light as you would expect from hand made pasta. Martino let us try two different Italian wines and we went with an excellent moderately priced vino di Toscano. Can't wait to go back with the rest of my family.

Home made pasta!
The food is outstanding, especially the home made pasta dishes. The service needs some improvement but hopefully that will come with time.

Excellent Northern Italian Restaura
Being Italian and finding good Italian food in LA it is sometimes difficult. This beautiful gem in the heart of Culver City gives you the chance to taste authentic Northern Italian food. Nice selection of pastas and entrees. If you are looking for a rich tomato sauce taste, this is not the place for you. Oustanding was "Pappardelle with duck meat and the Ossobuco". Price is reasonable too.

Walk to Kirk Douglas Theatre
Enjoyed our dinner at 041 Bacaro. Had a nice bottle of Italian white wine and well-prepared veal dish for dinner. Atmosphere was very nice bistro-ish. Service was good. We were going to Kirk Douglas for a play that evening, so proximity was great. Service was quick and we were left with a few minutes to walk around Culver City, which was nice.

A neighborhood Gem
We were celebrating the engagement of my best friend and I wanted a local restaurant. We started with the Squash Blossoms which were superb! Even the bread served had a crisp crust and nice chew inside. We also ordered an insalata di casa and fritto misto. Both were perfect to begin the meal. Service was both attentive and informative. The water was consistently delivered through the meal without request. For the main courses we tried some of their hand-made pasta, the pumpkin raviolis another winner and the branzino filet with the Italian Champagne sauce (prosecco) with delicious spinach as an accompaniment..We are looking forward to a return visit in the near future.
11/8/2013 4:00:00 PM
This was a great find for a dinner and a show over at the Kirk Douglas theater. The specials had great variety and all sounded delectable. The service was nice, and the decor was pretty sweet with the textured painted walls and art all around the restaurant. I would say the only miss was the music in the background. Really strange oldies mix-didn't quite go with the vibe of the restaurant. If ever we make it back to Culver City, this will be a top choice!

Great before a show
Romantic little spot in culver city. Our server was really friendly and patient. My fresh pasta w/ duck ragu was fantastic but my husbands lasagna was OK. I loved our wine selection and since dessert took a while, our waiter surprised us with another glass! The wait was worth it as dessert was light and sweet. Great service and I'll be back to try some other dishes.
