Amazing Food, 5 stars chef
Chef Fracchioni is one of the best chefs you"ll find in Toronto, the food was fantastic. My guests travel around the world and they were very much impressed.

Different with Distinction
What a great concept with food that delivers. Kinda felt like we spent a nite in Berlin with our own personal chef. The flavours , presentation, originality and use of seasonal ingredients was really wonderful. I will definitely go back.

For a Special Experience.......
We had an unexpected great time at Monk Kitchen. We were made to feel like guests in someone's home. There is no menu. You just tell the chef what you would like to eat and he creates your meal. The food bet our expectations. The chef cooked up wonders in his small kitchen. From Ranchos Heuveros to fluffy pancakes and omelettes, fresh fruit and wonderful side dishes, everything was great. We can't wait to return and try dinner.

Did not know what to expect with so little reviews and no menu. We are so happy we took the risk and dined here. My wife and I have dined at some of the best restaurants in NYC, and we could not believe Monk was just as good as Michelin star restaurnts in NY. Chef Roberto cranked out some dishes that were unbelievable for any foodie to appreciate. His homemade fettuccine was off the charts. What was even better then his pasta was the fact we got to interact with the Chef and his staff while they made each course for us. It was an unbelievable experience and the food was just as awesome as the experience. Good luck trying to find it, but when you do, you won't regret it!

We've eaten at world-class restaurants and Monk really stands out.

Not to be missed
What a find! Tucked away in the lower level of a boutique hotel, the multi-course meal depends on what's fresh in the market that day. Sitting at the edge of the kitchen, you get to chat with chef Roberto and his staff about what they're making for the meal. The wine (and one beer) pairings were simply outstanding. All the way around, this was a very special meal, one of the very best dining experiences of our lives.

Amazing and very dining experience
This place is amazing! A must for anyone visiting (or living) in Toronto. Unless you've done your research, this place would be hard to find. It's located in the basement of a very funky, boutique hotel on an almost desolate road. We wanted a fabulous last hoorah dining experience before flying back home to Australia the next day and Monk Kitchen did not dissapoint. As it was a Monday night, my friend and I were the only customers so we joined the fabulous Roberto (Chef) in his kitchen to eat, drink, listen to music and share ridiculous stories! Roberto is an amazing chef and all round superstar. He was the Toronto highlight!

Just go there.
No menu. The chef meets and serves you personally. He will ask you about likes and dislikes and make you a mystery menu. This is a rare gem where you get individual attention from a wonderful chef. You will be there several hours. Between the many courses you will chat and mingle with the chef, staff, and other guests. It's a small place with maybe 30-40 seats. You are encouraged to explore and visit the kitchen to mingle with him and staff between courses.
All food is fresh from the market or his own gardens. We had a seven course meal. Six piece desert. All phenomenal. We liked the steak so much he gave the recipe and bottled me up se homemade red wine vinegar for the marinade.

Delicious food,better wine pairings
No fixed menu. Chef's discretion. Everything in the 7 course meal was delicious. The wine pairings were fantastic. Cost per person is approximately $150 (all in) but worth every penny...
Great and attentive service.

Dine in the kitchen
Wonderful food made all the more interesting by the opportunity to sit in the kitchen and chat with the chefs while at work. If you are a person who needs to know what you are getting in advance this may not be the place for you, but our small group of 3 found the lack of a menu made the whole experience that much more enjoyable.

must try for adventurous foodies
No menu. The chef is very sociable and designs a tasting menu based on what is fresh and avoids any food intolerance. The meal was our best in Toronto. The price was very fair for what we were served. We would most definitely return.

Overall great experience.
Overall great experience. Food selection good. The salad was too much salad for mushrooms. Great talking to the chef and staff.

Dining on great food in the midst of talented chefs preparing a meal with Chef Roberto entertaining is an experience that's hard to beat. Really good fun and good food.

Excellent creative food
Monk Kitchen is a great find. The menu changes daily and you enjoy what the chef prepares, so it is pointless to describe the dishes we enjoyed because yours will be different. Each dish was wonderful alone and the entire meal flowed together well. We did not think the wine pairings matched the quality of the food. It is a little hard to find as the Templar Hotel, where Monk Kitchen is located, has no sign or street number; look for the stark white building on the North side of Adelaide just past #342.

When in Toronto ...
The restaurant is in the basement of the Templar Hotel, where we were allowed to choose our seats. Options were in the kitchen on bar stools or in very modern community dining room. We chose the dining room setting, possibly a mistake. It would have been fun to sit in the kitchen and watch the food being prepared. The chef asked about likes and dislikes, explained everything would be prepared fresh for us, paired with the wine of their choosing, and we should relax and enjoy. Every course was fabulous, beautifully presented and delicious. Service excellent and all questions about ingredients, preparation and where grown were answered. We expected to have an excellent meal and this exceeded our expectations.

Hanging out at the kitchen
Hanging out at the kitchen table with the chef, eating flights of delicious food paired with great wine, made for one of the more memorable evenings ever. Our guests from the UK were delighted by the experience.

I'm glad that other reviewers noted the obscure location for this restaurant, because I never would have found it. We were greeted immediately upon entering the unmarked building and escorted to the bar to select our beverage and then down into the kitchen for dinner. To our surprise, we were the only reservation for the rest of the evening. Our menu for the evening included an amuse of "grilled cheese," "fish and chips" of beet cured fish, orecchiette with bolognese, a beautiful fish and mushroom dish, duck with roasted root vegetables, and a generous assortment of mini desserts. Everything was elegantly presented and delicious. Our banter with the chef and hostess was friendly without being too much. I definitely will return.

Inventive cuisine, terrific
Inventive cuisine, terrific touch from the affiable chef - highly recommended for a unique, memorable dining experience. Budget 3 hours to get through it.

A break-away from the norm
Great idea to have no menu and allow the chef to design his food based on availability of ingredients. Wonderful experience with excellent wine paring. Perfect portion sizes. We found the cost to be reasonable for the service and offering however would recommend some indication of price in advance.
