Had large group and the table was ready for us. Good prices. Good wine.

Consistently excellent Italian food
Really delicious Italian food. I like the lasagna so much that I've ordered it almost every time I've been there, and tonight was no exception. The fried gnocchi appetizer was delicious too. (How do they make them so airy?) It's also hard to avoid the basket of warm bread -- didn't have room for dessert. Wish I had.

Delicious and hidden
Came here with a friend after I saw that an acquaintance from Italy gave it a favorable review. We were seated promptly and our service wa great. The food - I had the squid ink pasta and my friend the lasagne - was DELICIOUS. So was the wine and gelato afterward. It was not crowded at all for a Friday night - very low key and great for conversation. It's on my list for the future.

Great before show
Perfect place to go before a Broadway show. Just had a solid meal and saw a freshly minted Tony winner while dining!

Great for Dinner with Friends
I loved the feel of this place -- the space is great and the noise level was perfect. Not too loud and not too quiet, really nice for an evening out with my girlfriends when we had a lot to catch up on and wanted to nosh on some good eats besides. The head guy (owner?) let us taste a bunch of different wines to help us in choosing what we wanted. One waiter seemed kind of new and was fumbling a little bit but everyone else (including another waiter who kept an eye on us even though it wasn't his table) was fantastic. We tried two appetizers, two pastas (pumpkin tortelloni was AMAZING) and a dessert (key lime tiramisu was just okay).

We went specifically because
We went specifically because Via Emilia was participating in the Italian Week with special fixed price
Menu. However it was a very hot and humid day and a three course lunch seemed too much
So we just ordered a la carte. Lunch was lovely, service was very good and the ambience is

The restaurant was beautiful and tasteful. I had the lasagna and it was amazing. It was decently priced, and had impeccable service.

Open dining area, with iconic orange, vibrant color tile design on the wall. All waiters and attendants were knowledgeable, courteous and friendly. Food superb. We asked that music level be lowered, and it happened instantly.

Delicious and Authentic Cuisine
Having spent a year in Bologna - in the region of Emilia-Romagna, near the home of the chef/owner from Modena (who greeted us) - we were delighted to find a restaurant that served real food from one of Italy's best regions for cuisine. Everything we ate was terrific - lasagna verde and tortellini alla panna were absolute favorites. And, of course, when you're in Emilia-Romagna, the wine you drink is Lambrusco. It was our first time at this restaurant. We'll be back - soon.

Hearty Italian food
Food was outstanding - linguine with clams, pasta bolognese, ravioli with truffle oil. And, make sure you order the "fritta" appetizer which was some sort of very delicate fried, puffed dough that was served with amazing salami and other meats. We will definitely be back again.

Via Emilia is one of the best restaurants in NYC. Amazing food (real home-made authentic Modenese food) I travel with my partner to Modena practically every year for the last 23 years and by now I know what real Modenese cuisine is like. And I am talking home made, like a true Modenese mom or grandma will prepare.
I recommend this restaurant that loves Italian food, but understand that this is not southern cuisine, many pastas and dishes are typical Emilia Romagna region where Modena, Bologna, Parma, etc. are located. My favorite appetizers are: Borlengo, Tigelle and Gnocco Fritto) Pastas: Tortellini alla Panna, Lasagne (yes spelled with an e, lasagna is from the south) and Caramelle di Castelvetro. And have Lambrusco wine, LOTS!!!!!

Not the cheapest lunch on the block, but may be the best. Upbeat, colorful decor and superior food quality make this restaurant a very special place. A plus is the wine -- which includes a lambrusco that's out of this world -- that can't be found anywhere else.

A very comfortable place
We have been hare a number of times. Food is very good. The gnocco fritto is sooo good. Ragu and tagliatelle is my favorite.

I was looking for a nice restaurant I went on open table read reviews and decided to give it a try. We started out with the mussels which was a nice size and had a very nice taste and we also shared a meat platter with fresh made puffs of dough which was lite and tasty great with the selection of Italian meats. For our main course my wife had the pasta with squid. The pasta was homemade and light and cooked perfect the squid was tender. I had a pasta special with fresh figs omg the pasta again very fresh and light the sauce had a lemon and butter taste that was amazing and the figs gave it a sweet taste that was a delight. Desert we shared a lemon and coconut tiramisu that was light and fresh. I enjoyed it so much going back with friends.

We were seeking a new restaurant to try in Flatiron, and stumbled across some quite wonderful reviews for Via Emilia. All four of us who ate there Monday evening would say that the five star reviews were correct, and the experience was first rate.
The salads, the gnocco with prosciutto were excellent but were surpassed by the tortellini dishes and the lasagne. Only the freshest ingredients are utilized, and everything has that just prepared taste.
The service was attentive and prompt (but not TOO fast), the ambience a little modern for my taste, but extremely pleasant.
One of the best meals we've had in ages.

Japanese people like this restauran
I am Japanese. I went to this restaurant with my family, my husband and son last Saturday. We enjoyed Italian food in Via Emilia. One Japanese person recommended Via Emilia on the Internet because the owner's wife was Japanese, and Japanese people probably like the food taste in Via Emilia. I agree with her advice. My family enjoyed Via Emilia food.

We were celebrating a birthday had friends come from out of town the food was wonderful services was on point the wine list was extensive. The home-made pasta was so fresh and light it was like I was back in Italy. The food was fresh and served hot. The entire dinning experience was terrific. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for great food at very reasonable prices. At the end of the night the chef came out to make sure we had a great eating experience. That little extra truly makes this restaurant great.

Great Authentic- Emiglia Romagna
Emlia is a fun restaurant that has Lambrusco wines and typical food from the Emiglia Romagna area of Italy. The food is great and if you have been to this region of Italy, you feel very nostagic here. The atmosphere is modern and lively but you can hear really well too! I highly recommend it!

Delicious & affordable
Every dish was solid and nothing disappointed - even the bread was excellent. The service was on point, friendly yet relaxed. The price was very reasonable, especially for the quality of the food. The restaurant lacks atmosphere but everything else made up for it.

Most thought their pastas were very good. Vongole was disappointing for a NYC Italian restaurant. Overall, good value.

Good little spot
A nice little spot with good food and a very fun assortment of Italian wines. The food was good and very fresh, but it don't knock my socks off. That said, I would definitely go back.

Excellent Italian Food
We had 7 people in our party including 3 vegetarians. We had 3 different antipasti and 6 different main courses. Everyone raved. The wine was excellent. Service for menus and entrees was great. They were slower after we got the dessert menu. I will definitely come back when in the area.

Via Emilia is an exceptional place and truly a gem in NYC! The prices are pretty reasonable for NYC and the portions are great. The lasagna is a must have!! You cannot go wrong with any dishes here and the wine list is quite nice and, again, reasonably priced. Do not miss this place!

Food is excellent and far
Food is excellent and far from simple red sauce and pasta. Service is earnest, but not as Manhattan crisp as other establishments. Wine list is interesting.

The best NYC restaurant
A great friend introduced me to Via Emilia more than 10 years ago. it is my favorite NYC restaurant. I took some Australian friends there the other night and they were very impressed with the lasagna. Its a gem of a place.

Everything they do perfect.
Some Italian restaurant try to do. A lot of things well. VIA Emilia doesn't try to do too many things well. It does what it does better than anyone else. William and his team offer the most delectable dishes from Modena along with a sophisticated fun wine list from the regional locale. Family like service in a beautiful upscale setting. Beat of all its the most comfortable relaxed setting.

A group of 7, we all enjoyed an excellent evening. The staff were all friendly and efficient. Our food orders were well presented and delicious, particularly the liver and bacon! We shall return.

Having spent time in the Italian
Having spent time in the Italian province of Emilia Romagna, it was a treat to find, near Union Square, this very authentic purveyor of the food of that region, the ham from Parma, the cheese from Reggio, the balsamic from Modena, all expertly prepared and served in a low-key, friendly atmosphere. Bravo!
