We had a teriffic overall
We had a teriffic overall experience and will absolutely keep this restaurant on our return visit list. Highly recommended to all - you will not be disappointed.

The food and service was fantastic, I will dine here again and look forward to it.

I organized a dinner for 14 people based soley on reviews and availability on open table. We could not have been happier. They accommodated our very large, and at times, boisterous group with grace. All of our servers were very attentive and patient to answer questions about the menu. The food was delicious as well! I had the Duck Julia, which was well executed and the crawfish and goat cheese crepes were outstanding! I would definitely return to this place and recommend it to others!

Wonderful sumptuous menu, service fit for royalty. Much to enjoy in this expansive room with decorated walls, high ceilings and space between tables. No negatives.

Great food and atmosphere
Tomas Bistro is wonderful. I took several friends there last one evening this week We were the only ones there so the service was incredible. Everything we had was delicious. I hope this place catches on.

Second visit here and will follow up with many more. Rock Bass was the best fish I have ever had. Crawfish Crepes to die for. Rack of Lamb fantastic.
6/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great menu, variety of fish, duck, rabbit, venison, shellfish and great salads and soups...something for every palate...nice ambience, service was attentive but not fussy...adequate wine list and full bar with good specialty drinks...overall great dining experience!
6/20/2013 4:00:00 PM
A group of us recently dined at Tomas Bistro. The food was excellent and the service very attentive. The crawfish crepes and the scallop appetizers are a must! For our main course the fish was cooked perfectly and the sauces were outstanding. One diner had the venison (which I tried) and it was tender with an excellent sauce. Had the bread pudding for desert...awesome!
6/21/2013 4:00:00 PM
We wanted to go somewhere new, and we are so glad we did! Our waiter, Ray, was knowledgeable and friendly. The goat cheese and crawfish crepes were amazing, as was the puppy drum. For dessert, the poached pear and chantilly cream was the perfect light but tasty conclusion to a true gastronomic feast. Appreciated chef's use of super fresh local ingredients. We will be back!

Where's everyone at?
My husband and I ate at Tomas Bistro this past Wednesday. We were the only table in the entire restaurant which was extremely crazy to us. Our waiter Ken was patient, attentive, explained the menu very well, and was overall awesome. We had the Shrimp Absinthe and Crawfish Crepes Appetizer. Both were really great. As others have noted, the abundance of fresh hot bread and butter was very good. Our dinner consisted of Pecan Encrusted Drum and Rack of Lamb. Both were very good, but I would say the Drum was the better choice (I'm a bit flip floppy on red-meat, so take with a grain of salt!). We were too full to try any desert. Again, I don't know why their business was so slow, but I liked it enough to try to spread the word on this business!
7/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
The restaurant was not busy on the night I ate there. I went on a Sunday night. The service was excellent and the wait staff was very attentive.
8/3/2013 5:00:00 PM
We each enjoyed first courses - sweetbreads were wonderful. Shared a salad. I had the seafood special, he had the duck. Wonderful preparation. After dinner, I was in the mood for cognac. Our server crossed the street (to Tommy's, they're related) for a glass of Martel Cordon Bleu for me.
Great place, loved the French music.
8/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
The duck was wonderful, the sweetbreads were perfect and the service was excellent. I will be visiting again.
8/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food was great. I especially enjoyed the uniqueness of the cuisine. It's not your standard ho-hum dishes. The crawfish crepe appetizers were out of this world!
8/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
Really enjoyed it.
Had the special appetizer and entree and venison from the regular menu. Specials were excellent. Venison was v good. I really loved the potatoes and veggies. The burgundy infused pears for desert were delightfully light after heavy entrees.
Wine list is good but not great, but they have the wine list from their sister restaurant across the street if you want something special. Next time I'll ask to see that before deciding. We were there early on a Saturday and had the place to ourselves so it was very quiet. By the time we left it was picking up nicely but not yet getting noisy. Lovely "French cafe" decor.
8/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
Dinner on my own at Tomas Bistro last week was extremely good. Great welcome and service, and outstanding food - the rabbit creole was fantastic! It's too easy to stay in the French Quarter. Get out and explore...

Marvelous in every respect....Like
Marvelous in every respect....Like his Tommy's Cuisine Restaurant across the street, Tommy hits another home run with Tomas Bistro...Tommy makes you feel like part of his family, with caring and sincere attention to fulfilling customer needs. The Flat Iron Steak stuffed with fried oysters, Duck with raspberry glaze, Sweetbreads and Crab salad were outstanding recommendations. On another occasion the Turtle soup, Redfish Meuniere and Lamb chops stole the culinary show. Not many realize that Tommy was one of the first restauranteurs to return and reopen business opportunities in Post-Hurricane Katrina New Orleans. Every city should have a Tommy--Thanks!

Stuffy. I've been to fine
Stuffy. I've been to fine dining restaurants that knew everything about them was good. This restaurant had good food but it was like they were trying too hard. They didn't seem genuine.
9/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great date night
Our dinner was perfect, wine was excellent, but the service was the highlight. This place is unfortunately slow, but that allows time to take extra care of their customers. Ken was awesome.
9/8/2013 12:00:00 AM
Good, solid restaurant
I liked everything except for an appetizer, which was way too salty, and the waiter, who was not particularly nice, but OK.
9/13/2013 5:00:00 PM
Love this place!
This is one of my favorite places to dine in New Orleans.
9/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
Our waiter was excellent. Observant but not hovering over our table for 6. Made our dining experience in New Orleans memorable.
9/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
amazing food with great service at
Tomas bistro was an absolute joy. They offered a full bar menu despite their limited cocktail list. I had the most amazing amaretto sour of my life! The food was amazing from appetizer to desert. I'd recommend the duck. Wonderful place to treat yourself. Cost is slightly more than the average chain restaurant but leaves you with satisfaction and memories that'll keep you coming back!
10/1/2013 12:00:00 AM
Barbecued oysters here cannot be beat. Also had a very good bowl of turtle soup. The venison loin was fantastic & ended with a ig piece of cheesecake. Service, drinks at the bar, and atmosphere are all top notch. This and Tommy's across the street are both musts for anybody local.

Lovely find in NOLA
Tomas Bistro was a perfect place for our 25th anniversary dinner. Great ambiance, friendly staff, impeccable service, and absolutely divine food. Nice selections on the menu, tempting specials and luscious desserts. We can't recommend this gem enough - we will be there next time we're in New Orleans.
10/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
Very good food at reasonable
Very good food at reasonable prices. Our entrees, Duck Julia and Pecan Meniere, were very satisfying for both taste and quantity. Definitely would order them again. Crawfish crepes appetizer large enough for 2 people to share (3 crepes) were ok but would try something else next time. Attentive service without any "hovering".
10/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
Absolutely Amazing Restaurant
What can I say.. The service was great and the food was out of this world. They had plenty of off menu items that made the restaurant unique. Inside the restaurant was gorgeous and was the perfect setting for a romantic night on the town in new orleans.
10/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
Lively and Lovely
Wonderful atmosphere. The food and presentation is exciting. Heavy on the salt for my taste for the veal special. The sauce also was amazing but sparing.
10/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
Though some were dressed to the nines, blue jeans were just as acceptable. The fare was tasty, and we didn't feel rushed through any if the three courses.
10/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
Very Nice Dining Experience!
We had a lovely early dinner at Tomas Bistro. The service was very good. The food was delicious. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. We will definitely return!
10/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
Very good, not the best in Nola
You will enjoy this restaurant, and if you live locally or visit the city often, it's definitely worth an evening. If you're in town for just a few nights, there are probably better choices serving this type of menu at this price range. Still, we had a lovely meal for four, especially enjoying the NY strip steak (one of the evening's specials) and the bouillabaisse. The crabmeat first was outstanding, and the flourless chocoloate torte and bread pudding were delicious. The biggest disappointment, I would say, was the veal, which was dry and tasteless. The space is kind of clubby - very comfortable, though a little noisy with all that stone surrounding you.
10/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
Outstanding gem of a restaurant
I was a little apprehensive about coming here, fearing the waiters in a place like this would be snooty to my girlfriend and I but was pleasantly surprised when they treated us with the utmost respect and hospitality. The food was excellent despite being a tad on the salty side and the wine list is great, offering California wines at reasonable prices. All in all, a great evening with great food and wine.
10/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
Expertly prepared with an attention to detail. I had a delicious bouillabaise that had a fresh and complex taste. A side of potatos au gratin were a dream. Desert and service were a little a flat compared to the main course. I cannot wait to dine there again.
10/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
Our waiter Arthur was very friendly and helpful. We split the mussels as an appetizer, they were so tender and the sauce was delicious. I has the bouillabaisse orleans while my husband had a filet stuffed with fried oysters. We split the pear for dessert. After a week in New Orleans, we can easily say this was the best meal we had!
10/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
We had a group of 12. The table was a little tight for 12 and we could have used a little more room. The service was good, although the server did mess up 2 of the orders, and they had to be re-cooked so those 2 had to wait a few minutes. The food was outstanding as was the wine. Smaller menu, but there were enough good selections for everyone. I had the asparagus salad, and the venison loin and both were great. Others had the duck, veal, and other entrees, and they made a special entrée for the vegetarian in the group. Overall it was a very good spot and I'd recommend it highly. Nice, out of the way spot, and I thought the food quality was as good as the more expensive, trendy spots at a much lower price.
10/31/2013 12:00:00 AM
My fave part about Tomas Bistro is the ambience. Super romantic. The appetizers (crawfish & goat cheese crepes and crab au gratin) stood out above any other course. Cocktails were also delicious...potent & yummy. Unfortunately, a portion of my entree (pecan crusted drum) was overcooked...I was able to eat 2/3 of it, but the remainder was extremely tough... so tough, in fact, that it actually could not even be cut with my fork. Oh well. All other dishes were excellent, including the amaretto cheesecake, so I definitely plan on returning.
11/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
We selected Tomas Bistro randomly over many other New Orleans restaurants, all with very good ratings. Initially the server was a little cold, but he warmed up and overall did a very good job. My wife and I had wine, shared an appetizer, had two entrees and shared a dessert. I must say the food was excellent! Our entrees were a daily special of an 8 oz filet topped with mushrooms and a sauce I don't recall the name of. They were exceptional cuts of meat comparable to what I've found at a Flemings or similar type fine dining restaurant. Prices were what you would expect for this style of dining and I would classify them as reasonable. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant to others and I intend to visit again in the near future.
11/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
Very good, as usual.
4th time there. Barbecue oysters outstanding. All very good, noise level not bad even though quite busy at 7:30pm. Good, consistent restaurant.
11/5/2013 4:00:00 PM
Very good food/service, ok wine
Both the food and service were very good. The wine list is mediocre, with mainly grocery store brands offered by the glass, nothing unique or exciting. I think the food would be even better if paired with better wine.
11/7/2013 4:00:00 PM
This was not the first time we had dinner at Tomas Bistro. It is always a wonderful experience. The staff is very attentive, the food is excellent and the ambience is just perfect. We will be back.
11/13/2013 4:00:00 PM
This is a wonderful member of 2 great restaurants across from each other in Warehouse District. The other is Tommy's Cuisine. Turtle Soup and Gumbo are best in city. Fried catfish & grits, oyster stuffed filet mignon, and lamb entrees are very good. End it with nice selections of Port and warm bread pudding.
11/14/2013 4:00:00 PM
Really really good. A secret
Really really good. A secret away from the Quarter.
11/14/2013 4:00:00 PM
Best meal in a long time
love Tomas Bistro! A little pricey, but the cocktails, food, service and atmosphere were top-notch. We have not enjoyed a dining experience this much for quite a while.
11/14/2013 4:00:00 PM
Lovely decor and wonderful food
A friend and I went to dinner and loved the fresh food, wonderful service and lovely ambience. It was our first visit and we will definitely return and recommend it!
11/15/2013 4:00:00 PM
Dinner was perfect here! I wanted a quiet, romantic setting with flavors that would entice me and that's exactly what I found.
11/17/2013 4:00:00 PM
This was my second visit and I found the food even better. First you can use the valet parking across the street with the sister restaurant Tommy's which I have enjoyed many times. Some special cocktails were excellent, a pecan old fashion. They have several excellent appetizers. New Orleans seafood does not normally include mussels, but this dish has a wonderful sauce. The duck is excellent, but I still prefer the duck across the street at Tommy's or Cllancy's. The fish special my wife had was excellent. I enjoyed the pears for dessert. An excellent french style bistro that is worth returning to.
11/22/2013 4:00:00 PM
Went there for a date and the service was great and prompt. We tried random food on the menu to be spontaneous and it was good. The chocolate desert was the best I've had in a while
11/22/2013 4:00:00 PM
good for an intimate outing
The food was absolutely perfect and far exceeded my expectations. The service was ok...not phenomenal but the food more than made up for that. The atmosphere was very quiet and intimate as well.
