Wonderful atmosphere, great
Wonderful atmosphere, great food, and delightful staff. Martyr's is a great new addition to the Taos restaurant scene. We ate here on the 3rd night after it opened. No apparent kinks from the very beginning! Bravo!

Really good for only a week open
First week of restaurant open without a 'soft' opening and over a BIG holiday weekend in Taos, NM. I'm giving Martyrs four stars even though the experience was more on the 3 star level. One of our four entrees had to be sent back. It was a $39 ribeye steak that was way way overdone. The other three were proper. But for a kitchen that's still working out the flow and the kinks it wasn't a bad showing. The restaurant needs some kinks worked out of the front of the house as well. Timing was off between appetizers, salads and entrees. I'm looking forward to the time that the kinks are worked out and Martyrs will be stellar. Only other flaw is the wine list. It's not all that well selected. This is a steakhouse and I could barely find a zin.

Went to Martyrs for a business luncheon and was pleasantly surprised by the elegance of the space, but also the professionalism and appearance of the staff. The food came out and we enjoyed the Crab, Lobster, and Bull sandwiches all of which were amazing. Love to see a restaurant that takes it self seriously and offers this level of dining experience to their guests. Enjoy

EXCELLENT DINING EXPERIENCE
Finally a upscale place in beautiful Taos New Mexico. For the moment you drive up it has the northern NM flare with beautiful vigas and wood work. Upon being greeted you know this is a top notch establishment. All wait staff are impeccably dressed and polite. We had outdoor seating which 5 stars all around. All meals were perfectly prepared and tasted great. Exceptional Service and flavor of the meals which exceeded our expectations. Elegant but relaxed, classy but casual. This place is what Taos has needed for a long time! Finally a place in Taos that would Rival Vernon's or Vintage 423 in Albuquerque, might even exceed them.

Dinner with friends -showcase Taos
We made reservations for three and had previewed the menu. Service from moment one was exemplary. Attention to detail, clearly knowledgeable about ingredients in specials etc. attention to detail

Best steak in Taos, NM
Excellent but a bit pricey. Lunch was great and the mack & cheese are to die for. Can't wait to try the dinner menu.

Very high quality ingredients that were very well prepared. I was hoping for something a bit more unique for the price point but it is still someplace we are likely to visit again. Stellar service

A real city place!
For a charming little arty town like Taos, this restaurant has a city vibe. All was great, except maybe too many staff running around, if you can imagine.

A special place
An awesome experience! Whether sitting inside or outside it is a great place. Our food was excellent. The first place we will visit on our next trip to Taos.

First of many at Martyr's
Took our neighbors there and it was a first time for all of us. Wait staff was incredible. Ashley or Allison (hey I'm 63) was great. Very relaxed, no rush, very helpful with wine and entree choices. Ordered wine and started with oysters Rockefeller and then moved to a delicious wedge salad. I had the lamb shank, my wife the prime rib and the other couple the sea bass, all were excellent. A very memorable dining experience all the way around, and a definite go to for us.

Great new addition in Taos!
Terrific place! The food was incredible and our server had a dry sense of humor, which we love. Beautiful renovation on the building. Comparable in price to the local favorite Lambert's. Just as good or better food and dining experience. The only issue was a table of ten -- two sisters and husbands and grandparents and four kids-- two toddlers in highchairs and two little girls about four or so. They were noisy and rude. One of the toddlers hit a lady walking by in the leg with a fork and no adult at the table seemed concerned about it. Utter devastation when they left -- chocolate cake all over the floor, truly a mess. What is wrong with people that they take four kids under five out at 7:00 on Friday night and leave chaos behind?!

Great place to dine.
It was my boyfriend's b'day & wanted someplace nice to take him. We had a great time, the food was wonderful (we both had filets), great service & ambience. The complementary chocolate cake for his b'day was to die for! Will go back & will recommend to friends.

Food and Service
I thought the food was very good, but the sides could have used (asparagus in particular) something to make it better. Beef was good and cooked properly but a little tough for a rib eye. Restaurant was especially helpful in splitting up our checks (we had 10 people there) as I know this isn't normal policy at most.

Delightful and Delicious
Martyr's has a wonderful atmosphere, service and food. Both times we have eaten here have been amazing. Highly recommend this to anyone looking for a great new place to try and are into classic cocktails. Be sure to ask for Alisha as your waitress, she is fabulous!!!

Dinner at Martyrs
Have had 2 great dinners there, once outside and the other inside. We really enjoyed it. We also had lunch there the day before outside but was pretty disappointed in that. The food was not good...I had kebabs, the steak was chewy, and the shrimp was not good ( I actually spat it out). My husband had fries with his steak sandwich ( the sandwich was good) however the fries were very soggy. It was my husbands first time there and I told him to go see the bar, when he went through he said the kitchen staff were extremely loud and not very professional. We didnt have that experience at dinner either time. Would definitely recommend dinner there and have to our guests ( we own a hotel nearby).
Will try lunch again.

We have dined twice for dinner & highly recommend it. Extraordinary service. I had the trout on my first visit--perfection!--& my husband had the prime rib. Our companions had several appetizers & complimented all. On our second visit, we all had prime rib--the 2 ladies shared & the portions were adequate. We shared the wedge salad & Caesar; both were excellent. Some local diners consider the prices too high but for the quality, it's worth it, especially for special occasions. The only "beware" is some of the liquor prices. The Scotch was $20 but other cocktails & wine were reasonable. Just ask in advance! We haven't been for lunch but hear from friends that it's good, though the menu is a bit more limited. We intend to try it soon.

This is a new restaurant and
This is a new restaurant and our first time. We thought the whole situation was terrific. The redo of the building is astounding. We would go back again for sure.

Great evening outdoor venue
Food was very good, we tried the steak and trout, and were not disappointed. Great outdoor seating with a nice view. This was our first time here and would highly recommend.

We want this place to make it!
My partner and I have dined here on several occasions. The food is consistently good, but not outstanding. The atmosphere is lovely inside and out, and the service is excellent. We really want to see this restaurant last. Steaks at a steakhouse in this price range (in this town), should be top notch, and they just aren't. We will continue to eat here, and recommend it to others. We are locals, not wealthy, and we don't think the prices are outrageous. The restaurant is usually busy when we visit-a good sign.

Great New Fine Dining for Taos!
This was our first visit to Martyr's and it won't be our last! Outstanding food and service for this little town. We had the shrimp cocktail and crab stuffed avocado for apps. Crab needed a little more seasoning for my taste, but shrimp were large and delicious. We each had the wedge salad--excellent dressing with tinge of vinegar! We shared the special of the night, a 14 oz (quality!) prime rib with garlic mashed potatoes and fall veggies. Everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly. For dessert we had the Bourbon Caramel Creme Brule and Flourless Chocolate Cake. Both were excellent. We were told that it is pricey for Taos, but disagree. We have spent as much or more at other places. We will definitely dine here again!

Had a very quiet, enjoyable
Had a very quiet, enjoyable evening in an upscale quaint spot in Taos. Something new in a predominantly historic area! Great food, service and ambiance!

We found this new steakhouse to be excellent for its location ( Heart of Taos), and outstanding for its service. Wait staff appeared well trained and experienced. We question the need for high ala carte pricing. Out-or-towners, not knowing any better and having money, probably find this the norm, but those from Taos may find this place pricey. All in all, we were not disappointed and will consider returning on subsequent visits to Taos.

The place in Taos - a new favorite
Enjoyed both lunch and dinner. The patio is outstanding. This is the restaurant to eat at in Taos. The chef has created a great menu fit for foodies and the staff is outstanding. Will eat here every time we are in Taos.

My husband and I were in Taos for the weekend and we'll admit we have some serious foodie tendencies. After reading a bunch of reviews for Martyrs, we decided to give it a try for dinner. What a gem! The menu was small but impressive with everything super fresh and "respectfully" prepared. To some folks, the dining area might seem a bit tight, but it was the perfect cozy spot on cold Fall evening!

Love Maertyrs in neighborhood
Seems they've got all their kinks worked out. Food was fantastic, service good. Drinks were nicely done- their custom version of drinks are fun. Much as Steakout closing was a bummer having Martyrs walking distance from the house is a treat. Becoming a spot for regulars. Staff clearly knew people coming in. Menu diverse enough for everyone.

We were looking for somewhere to celebrate our wedding earlier in the day. This was perfect.
